Ormonde Jayne Zizan ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 November 2008 16 Comments

Ormonde Jayne Zizan cologne for menOrmonde Jayne has launched Zizan, a new fragrance for men:

Zizan, a perfume like no other because it has everything a man could possibly want in a single spectacular scent. This is a powerhouse perfume. Expect a deluge of boisterous Sicilian lime, lemon and bergamot but to smooth the biting edge, a brilliantly refined concentration of vetiver.

Zizan belongs to the domain of the worldly, highly sophisticated and cultivated. It also belongs to the strategist - the man who knows how to seduce.

The notes feature lime, lemon, bergamot, clary sage, pink pepper, juniper berry, bay, violet, jasmine, vetiver, cedar, musk and amber.

Ormonde Jayne Zizan is £64 for 50 ml Eau de Parfum. (via press release)

a change in the edp bottle?

I wonder if they'll ever make 100ml bottles. I know that the problem is generally the opposite, and I agree, but if there' s something I need to wear often and spray liberally if I want to make it last on skin, it's Ormonde woman. Wouldn't it be nice if we could choose between the 30ml and the 100ml, like Nicolai does, eliminating the 50ml? Just dreaming…

I was wondering about that bottle too…Zizan isn't online yet at OJ, so not sure.

Yes, you take the 100 ml and I'll take the 30! Fine with me :-)

Does anyone know what “Zizan” means? Unfortunately, it's sort of pretty close to the French colloquial term for penis…

I should be reviewing this on Friday over at the posse. Some people will love it, though I'm not exactly one of that cohort. I can admire it though.

It doesn't mean anything in French. It is close to the word 'zizanie', which means 'discord', but I don't see why it should have anything to do with it either.

    Googling it didn't return anything.

And it's a long wait between releases, isn't it? Looking forward to this one, but also hope there's a new women's coming soon.

I thought I had a scoop for you, R, but I've just seen someone posted about it on Basenotes. Earlier this evening, I went to the Bond Street Xmas celebrations and asked Linda Pilkington what Zizan meant. She said it was part of the Latin name for vetiver. I checked on Wikipedia and sure enough it's 'Chrysopogon zizanioides'.

She sprayed my wrist with Zizan: I love it. Imo, it's similar to Eau Sauvage, which I love and used to wear. I could wear this too. It's fresh and sultry at the same time.

Hey, thanks — missed that at Basenotes, and nice to know! And VERY nice to know you loved it — can't wait to get my sample.
