Lancome Magnifique at La noche en blanco in Madrid

Posted by Robin on 11 September 2008 6 Comments

Lancôme's new fragrance, Magnifique, will be making an appearance at Madrid's third annual La noche en blanco this Saturday, September 13th. Artist Ana Laura Aláez will construct a red geometric sculpture inspired by Magnifique's bottle in front of the Palacio Real:

A feminine, contemporary space, painted red and made with iron and methacrylate, will serve as the dwelling place of a female violoncello player. From its small, inhabitable shape, created by renowned artist Ana Laura Aláez, it will try to create a musical dialogue with the building next door, the Royal Palace. The translation of its French title would be The Dwelling Place of Essence. This idea aims to explain how this “house” is the essence of an elementary shape that could grow indefinitely to different scales while keeping its formal rigour. Just like the essence of a scent.

Cold steam diffusers will be used to disperse the Magnifique fragrance at the event. (quote via lanocheenblanco.esmadrid, additional information via fraganciasycosmeticos.es, elmundo.es)

Spaniards definitely know how to put on a show. I'd love to be there (were it simple, I wouldn't mind emigrating, in fact). That whole event looks pretty great.

It is cracking me up that today I'm posting this, the event in Florence & the Guerlain event in Paris, all of which sound like great fun, and in the US all we have is Tommy Hilfiger riding a Harley down the streets of New York (see yesterday). Life just isn't fair.

Well, what's wrong with it? It sounds very civilized an sensible to me, provided it's not mandatory to stand and wave as he rides by. White nights are a pointless nuisance, believe me. You should see the downtown streets the morning after. No, don't crack just now that I have found it in myself to de-lurk and tell you how delightful and interesting this blog is.

    Hi and welcome!

I'm sure if you live in a city that holds White nights, they're a complete nuisance, but if you live where I do (in a small town that doesn't even feature TH on a Harley) they're quite enviable. Free art! On the streets! Spewing perfume in the streets!

    Thank you!

I live in a comparatively small town that holds white nights but doesn't even feature one department store with a fragrance section worth mentioning, only snouty boutiques here.. Better not mention what gets the most spewn in the streets on a white night.

LOL — I can imagine what gets spewn on the streets. Ah well. My town is very small, we've mostly little gift shops, no perfume at all, sadly.
