Posted by Robin on 31 August 2008 36 Comments

Anna Sui Flight of Fancy perfume for women

Anna Sui has launched Night of Fancy, a follow-up to last year's Flight of Fancy.

The fragrance notes include living blueberry, grapefruit leaves, wild strawberries, living stephanotis, jasmine sambac, milkshake accord, cashmeran and olibanum.

Anna Sui Night of Fancy will be available in 30, 50 and 75 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching body products. (via iswii.net, shopping.pchome.com.tw)

Mark Earth perfumeNext up from Avon's Mark brand will be Earth, a new fragrance for women:

Created with the global goddess in mind, our latest fragrance is a lush, beautiful blend of dewy green notes, fresh-cut flowers and warm, tender woods. The perfect fall scent.

Mark Earth is described as "chic and sophisticated", and will be available soon in 50 ml Eau de Toilette.

I do believe that's the very first “milkshake accord” and “living blueberry” I've come across in a list of notes. Now who was saying all these releases are the same old thing? Innovation seems to be alarmingly alive and well…

Speaking of innovation, I wonder which creative genius decided to place a tiny lampshade upon the Mark Earth bottle.

    MILKSHAKE ACCORD? Oh lord….
Though Night of Fancy (what a ridiculous name too, might I add) is almost surely destined to be a disaster on my skin, I'm such a sucker for cashmeran I might have to surreptitiously sniff this at Sephora.

Well, I think we should be very grateful that they've chosen LIVING stephanotis rather than that nasty dead stuff.

At least the bottle isn't one of those creepy doll heads…

2scents: the “living” designation always cracks me up…makes me think of the notes screaming in pain as they're sprayed onto skin, LOL…

'Sorting hat' – brilliant! Do you think the bottle will make it into Gryffindor or Slytherin?

I do like the idea of Mark: a fragrance called “earth”. It is a cute bottle, and looks like something promising a good, earthy, foresty scent. Mark's frags are cheapos too! Anna Sui? I just can't love any of her creations except for her… GORGEOUS bottles! Well and I do love all of the make-up/skincare products from Sui. Her cheek blush and powders smell of beautiful roses, but her fragrances smell of expired candy… Anyways, fancy flight has a beautiful bottle as always!

…and at what point do you call a fragrance creator certifiable?

Finally, a fragrance you can wear around those annoying lactose intolerant people.

Anna Sui fragrances always throw up a list of strange concoctions that makes me want to sniff it, but I am always disappointed at how ordinary it turns out: fruity floral.

But I love her aesthetic though. She is huge in Japan and her boho chic designs always seems to look the best on Japanese women.

WHAT ON EARTH? You had me Anna until the Milkshake thing! SAY WHAAAAATTT????!?!?! LOL! I know i am usually the Champion and Cheerleader of Scent, but this does not Auger well in the least! and i have liked mostly all of Anna's Fragrances… However some have been so sickeningly sweet they make Miss DIor Cherie smell like Opium! and what is with that travesty of a bottle for Earth? C'mon… did anyone even bother to have an imagination there? even if the fragrance is OK, and it sounds like it will ONLY BE, OK, that bottle is Right Off Putting! Can anyone say the Teenage Mutant Ninja Version of Diesel's Fuel For Life For Men??? I think You Can!

I remember a French fish wholesaler in Boulogne telling me that the way to tell a good salmon is by the look in its eye – it should have “an air of vivacity”! Maybe the picked blueberry can also pull off this difficult look…

Perhaps we can expect a series of flankers featuring different milkshake accords and floral notes in varying states of health: some living, some dead, some critically ill, and some looking a bit peaky!

The milkshake note is funny, but you know, you could have accurately said that Tom Ford Black Orchid (among others) had milkshake.

LOL at “Teenage Mutant Ninja Version of Diesel's Fuel For Life For Men” — good one!

Most of her bottles are! This one is the same as Flight of Fancy, I think, just different color.

I think the Earth bottle looks kind of neat, with the striated glass and the green juice. Of course, green is my favorite color. I could do without the pleather scrunchie, however.

I love Anna Sui's flights of fancy-usually. But this time it seems she flew off her fancy.

But she's going to appeal to some demographic; probably trying to appeal to our increasing hefty fast food nation.

Maybe it was designed to be therapeutic for anorexics?

Who knows? Maybe milkshake is replacing pink pepper?

    I'm scared.

LOL! So it would seem (dumb, apparently, is IN.)

If Earth was not an Avon, I would probably be interested. Am I wrong? And I do like the bottle, corset/hat/scrunchie and all. Someone set me straight on the Avon bizness, please.

I can't set you straight — I haven't tried anything by Avon in eons. No access to samples.
