Demeter Swimming Pool ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 12 August 2008 21 Comments

Demeter Swimming Pool perfumeDemeter has launched Swimming Pool, a new unisex fragrance:

Dive Into The Pool

A soft, watery, natural ozone scent... wrapped in a fresh cotton towel...

Demeter’s Swimming Pool is the lingering memory of the pool water on the skin, not the pool itself.

Savor the Summer, anywhere, anytime.

Demeter Swimming Pool is available in 15 ml Cologne Mini-Splash, 30 or 120 ml Cologne Spray, and in matching bath & body products and Room Spray. (via demeterfragrance, with thanks to magicmarti for the tip!)

Other recent fragrances from Demeter: Necco Sweethearts, Incense, Frozen Margarita, Tootsie Collection.

It's amazing how many “memory” scents Demeter has developed, despite attending all of those swim lessons & meets, Swimming Pool is bound to bring back memories!

Demeter doesn't have one named “summer camp” do they? That might smell like bug spray, cool-aide, and coppertone!

Oooh! That sounds awesome! It even sounds a little like CB I Hate Perfume's At the Beach 1966.

I'm hoping this scent smells more like chlorine and sunscreen than “ozone”. I love the smell of ozone after a rain storm, but calone sends me into dry heaves.

SFE, I don't think they have a Summer Camp but they should! Add in that peculiar smell of “hot cabin” + “camper's dirty clothes”.

I wonder if there is chlorine…agree on the calone!

    Watery and ozone.

    I can smell trouble brewing…

I hope it's more chlorine than ozone, too! Having grown up in middle America, I associate the smell of the swimming pool with summer more so than ocean smells. (That's the smell of vacation…)

I was just saying to someone the other day how much I hated swimming pools. I won't be sampling this.

I think that is getting more into the realm of CBIHP. I think it's interesting to look at the Demeter line as a whole and figure out which are CB and which are post-CB. Did you have a chance to read any of Pyramus' Demeter reviews this summer? I don't really own many Demeters, but apparently I need to.

But I looove swimming pools – they smell sexy and free and energetic! I'll be getting one.

I had a chuckle over this—having been on swimming/diving teams and synchronized swimming teams throughout school, I remember never being able to get the scent of chlorine off my skin. It was actually annoying. Even in the summer months between practices, the bleachy-sweet smell would occasionally rise off my skin, after months of rinsing and scrubbing. The idea of reapplying that scent would be met with laughter from any swimmers :).

As far as the “Demeter” line goes, I'm not sure how I feel about them. Some are decent representations to my nose, but most of their scents have that weird, lettuce-grassy undertone, nomatter what they are meant to represent. Wet dirt and grass makes sense in “Firefly”; not so much in “Pumpkin Pie”.

I read as many as I could — I really do like Demeter, and LOVE the $5 minis.

I'm fonder of Demeter than you are, although admittedly not at all sure I need Swimming Pool. But adore many of them!

Molly, in many ways it's the smell of summer to me too.

I love Demeter and own I guess over 50 including the minis. I'd like to try this even though I hate swimming I love the smell it leaves on the skin.

My favorite has to be Beetroot. I review Demeter scents frequently on my blog since most people have to order them because not all of the scents are so easy to find in stores unless it is Baby Powder or Rain.

I'd love to try it just for the fun of it! I am not a huge fan of smelling like after swimming in the pool. I hate the chlorine smell on my skin, but I am curious about this fragrance. Yeah, curiosity – that's it.

just a few weeks ago, i was thinking when is demeter going to come out with swimming pool? im worried about the cotton towels part though. that could very quickly cross over into Clean territory. or the laundry room of a cheapish hotel. i'd take a ton of chlorine and a bit of sunscreen over cotton towels and ozone any day. we'll have to see…

Beetroot is awesome, & also love Gingerale, and the new Incense was really nice.
