Demeter Tootsie Roll Collection ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 3 May 2008 19 Comments

Demeter Tootsie Collection fragrances

Demeter has launched another in their series of candy-inspired collections: the Tootsie Collection. There are three fragrances named for popular sweets from Tootsie Roll Industries, established in 1896 and named for owner Leo Hirshfield's 5 year old daughter. The scents: Tootsie Roll, Tropical Dots and Junior Mints.

Tootsie Roll is "A luscious and delectable combination of fudge, caramel, chocolate and vanilla that brings back childhood memories of simple and easy pleasures".

Tropical Dots is "A refreshing and exotic, but Oh-So-Smooth blend of grapefruit, pineapple, passion fruit, mango and coconut".

Junior Mints is "A cool, crisp and sensual combination of peppermint, wild mint, cocoa bean, vanilla and dark chocolate".

The Demeter Tootsie Collection fragrances are available in 15 ml Splash ($5), 30 ($20) or 120 ($39.50) ml Cologne Spray, and in matching bath & body products. (via demeterfragrance, with thanks to MagicMarti for the tip!)

More candy from Demeter: the Jelly Belly collection, the Necco Sweethearts.

Why do all the new Demeters feel more like commercials than perfumes?

They have been doing more “collaborations” lately! But since I love Tootsie Rolls, this one is ok with me.

I adore Junior Mints, but I don't want to smell like them. Adlmit I'd like to sniff the Dots, though:) And after reading your comment on Beet Root awhile back, I'm on the lookout for a tester.

I used to love Demeter, but the last batch I bought were awful. I think the quality has really gone down. They're hit and miss. Such a shame because I love the concept. I do like to keep some of the fresh scents – Earl Grey Tea or Martini – in my desk for an afternoon spritz in the air. But I wouldn't wear any of them anymore.

I never see testers of the really fun ones like Beet Root, unfortunately. I'd take Junior Mints for a quick Demeter hit though!

Agree they're hit or miss, but there are plenty to go around. I really liked Eggnog, but that was my last big “win”.

I like the sound of the Junior Mints-sadly every mint seems to stink like cat pee on me :-( .

I can imagine the Tootsie Roll one smells quite nice, but my teeth have still not forgiven me for the one and only tootsie roll I tried and welded itself to my mouth. It may stir up unappealling confectionary memories.

I keep meaning to buy the Play-Dough one though.

I like to wear a little chocolate now & then — love Demeter Brownie :-)

HA — you gave up too easy on the tootsie rolls! My son will come over and convert you.

And I still haven't smelled the Play Doh!

try ross or marshalls. that's where i found my bottle of play doh. sans cap, but alas. i spray it, and people look confused and go “play doh?” after a few clues. its quite entertaining.

    its a quirky little thing.

i'm just wearing demeter's Holy Water today for the hot weather in hk… nice to know they have new fragrances, but why are they launching more candy-like and fruity scents these days instead of some more “envrionmental” scents they are famous for, like Snow or Rain? I missed them a lot!

Long-time lurker, but just had to pipe in… Back when CB had his East Village store, I asked for the notes of Holy Water. A SA confessed it was Rain and Dirt together — LOL!

You might check CB I Hate Perfume — in the “accords” section of the shop. That is Christopher Brosius' own line, after he left Demeter. Not as cheap, but higher quality & in oil form.

Whatever it is, it works. Holy Water is one of my all-time fave Demeters.

I'm a little curious about the Tootsies. Chocolate is such a hard note to pull off well in fragrances. I wonder if the Dots one has a little undercurrent of soapiness, like the candies have in their flavor? Sounds intriguing.

Agree, chocolate is hard to do well. We'll see!

Hope you'll like them! I've only tried a few of the accords, but love his “regular” line.
