Christian Dior will launch Dior Homme Sport, a new fragrance for men fronted by actor Jude Law, this month. It is the fourth in the Dior Homme range (see Dior Homme, Dior Homme Cologne, Dior Homme Intense) but has no olfactory relationship to the earlier iris-based scents.
The new fragrance is a citrusy cologne featuring "lively lemon", "energy-loaded ginger" and "noble cedar".
Dior Homme Sport will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quotes via gofeminin.de, additional information via osmoz) Update: additional notes for Dior Homme Sport include elemi, rosemary, lavender, grapefruit, bergamot, vetiver and sandalwood. (via cosmoty.de) Another update: see a review of Dior Homme Sport.
Other recent launches from Christian Dior: Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Printemps, Escale a Portofino, Dior Addict 2 Summer Litchi, Miss Dior Cherie Blooming Bouquet.
Luciano Soprani has launched Soprani Uomo, a new fragrance for men (and no relationship to the original, now discontinued Soprani Uomo that launched in 1988, nor to the similarly named "Luciano Soprani Uomo"):
Simplicity, to release individual tastes from the bondage of convention.
Harmony, to liberate the sense of beauty whithin.
Soprani Uomo features notes of bergamot, grapefruit, tangerine, spices, flowers, white woods, amber and musk.
Soprani Uomo is available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette and in matching grooming products. (via sfilate.it)
I love-to-like the other Dior Homme fragrances (in order of preference: Homme, Intense, and Cologne), so this is certainly worth a sample. Ginger is underused in fragrance, though I don't know about “energy-loaded”–it sounds like it might give me an electric shock. Who needs that during morning ablutions?
Can we have a decade-long moratorium on perfume ads featuring a bottle and a splash of transparent liquid, please?
SO entirely agree on the silly bottles plus a splash of liquid. Been there, done that, a gajillion times over. The Jude Law ad will no doubt be better, but if I remember correctly they won't run the Jude Law ads in the US.
Careful, lest you give these poor, bored publicity consultants bad ideas: e.g. making “perfume ads featuring a bottle and a splash of OPAQUE liquid”… 😉
Despite the scary name (… “sport” …), I'm also looking forward to trying it as I also like the others in the range..
I love ginger, I'll give this one a go for sure!
Why won't we have Jude Law? Why do they think that the American market would rather see a splashed cologne bottle?
I know that I would feel sooo much more excited about this fragrance if we saw the Jude Law ads…haha. You hear that sound? It's the sound of thousands of women buying cologne for their husbands (or what have you) in the US that are walking right past this display… : ) Honestly, though, I think it's interesting that ANY fragrance is being fronted by Jude Law….especially one that doesn't sound so terribly exciting.
…just adding (after a more careful reading) that the ginger does sound like it could be fun…but it's hard for me to get enthused over “citrus” and “sport”.
I think he wanted that in his contract, but don't know why.
True, “sport” is usually code for “dull”.
“The new fragrance is a citrusy cologne featuring “lively lemon”, “energy-loaded ginger” and “noble cedar”.”
Oh good. Another bright citrussy fragrance. My heart skips a beat in excitement.
Why couldn't they NOT have just explored the areas they explored with the original Dior Homme? What next? Dior Homme Sport Blanche? Dior Homme Allure Sport?
I am REALLY FED UP WITH CITRUS. IT'S BORING. CAN'T WE DO MORE SPICEY STUFF?????
I am really reaching the end of my patience with Sporty fragrances? What if you don't do any sport eh? What if what you like is going out drinking with your friends or are simply desirous of a fragrance which will smite the opposite sex with lust?
I will not, out of sheer bellicosity buy this scent. I am going to spend the money on Banana Republics Black Walnut which is dark spicy and a deflowerer of virgins in scent form…
But there's ginger, so maybe it is spicy? But you're probably right, it's probably mostly another sporty citrus thing.
I will certainly give it a try, my favourite Chemistry by clinique has
“”A Blend Of Jamaican Ginger, Citrus And Amber” so perhaps this can be a top-layer scent at least.
But I love Dior…. I am wearing Eau Sauvage Fraicheur Cuir as we speak … 🙂
Don't taunt me with your Fraicheur Cuir! I'm angry w/ Dior for their lousy US distribution, we get nothing, LOL…
I smelled it yesterday and was disappointed. Just another ever-so-fresh-sporty fragrance. Since Dior Homme wasn't a huge success in Germany (“it smells like a woman's perfume”) I think Homme Sport is a means to blast sales. An they hit it. The Dior counter was crowded. I'm still wondering about the “noble cedar” and I couldn't smell the ginger at all.
ST: I've never smelled Miss Dior before, but immediately fell in love with it. The warm and pefectly blended floral basenote is marvellous.
Was afraid of that. Thanks, I guess!
Miss Dior is lovely, and must have been even more so in its original formulation.
I think they know how to use copy & paste at Dior, it is so much Chanel Allure Homme Sport.
I tried Dior Homme Sport today, on a scent strip. All I can say is – wow. Energy loaded is right. The citron is so incredibly pronounced that you can almost feel the fragrance singeing your nose hairs. Sillage is very potent too, at least to me. Can't really detect the so-called smouldering cedarwood base. The SA gave me two samples to try; shall save those for later.
Hearing wildly varying things about it — can't wait to try it myself!
