McGraw by Tim McGraw ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 25 April 2008 31 Comments

Tim McGraw cologne for men

McGraw by Tim McGraw will be the debut fragrance from the popular country singer. The scent, created under arrangements with Coty, is due to launch in mass market stores this coming August. A Coty representative noted...

We will launch a very prestige-inspired fragrance straight to mass — which we believe will rejuvenate the mass market fragrance business. Tim resonates with the American consumer — he is admired not only for being a great musician, but also for being a great husband [to Faith Hill] and father [of three]. We see this as one of the most significant mass market fragrance launches since [Coty launched] Celine Dion five years ago.

McGraw is a spicy woody fragrance with notes of bergamot, nutmeg, lavender, moss, amber, patchouli, sandalwood and aged whisky.

McGraw by Tim McGraw will be available in 15, 30 and 50 ml Eau de Toilette. (via Women's Wear Daily)

Much as it pains me to admit it… this sounds pretty good.

Also, Tim McGraw is smokin' hot.

    That is all. :-P

Oh good, what the world really needs.

    Another celebrity fragrance.

Smell like a country singer and all the girls will love you…

It's enough to make a grown man weep.

Hey, the men don't have it nearly as bad as the women on the celeb fragrance score….

Can't help it, I have a soft spot for cowboys.

Speaking of, put a little Opus Oils Cowboy on Mr. McGraw… and OMG, yum!

LOL — no offense taken. :-) Admittedly, that's not his most photogenic moment…

I've no idea who Tim McGraw is, but in that photograph he looks disturbingly like Ricky Gervais.

True, you girls have to put up with Jade Goody fragrances.

What I think is sad is that a local perfume store to me told me that Usher is constantly selling out.

Why do people buy celeb fragrances? I've never understood it – particularly when for the same money you could buy something decent.

My personal take is that celeb scents are not necessarily any worse or better than other perfumes of the same price & geared towards the same, generally young market — a few are quite good, most are dull, some are downright horrid, all of which is true of perfume in general. But I don't know why people buy them just because of the celebrity connection either. But they do!

The only one I would even consider is Carlos Santana, which is apparently a very very good fragrance indeed, but I can't seem to find it in the UK which is a shame.

So they believe that THIS “will rejuvenate the mass market fragrance business”?! OK, sure, I'll keep an open mind… At least it's not a “marine-sport”. I wonder if the C&W demographic spends more than others on scent, or if that's even what they think their primary market is for this product.

It is a masculine ad and the bottle is firm and masculine too.

Robin, even I know who Tim McGraw is… LOL and I don't even particularly like country music for which I am so excused in this case, being a European :-D

Tim is lucky that his name is not Phil.

I had heard his name, mind you — but that is all. Have never seen him sing, and could not pick him out of a lineup.

Joe, I think part of their point (perhaps lost in my little snippet) is that nothing good is being launched directly to mass…all the good stuff in mass started out as prestige.

No offense but what rock have you been living under? How could you not know who Tim McGraw is? Married to Faith Hill (does that name ring any bells?), been in 4 movies including starring in Flicka in 2006, has done duets across the genres with people like Nelly (rap), Tony Bennett (i'm guessin' that name is familiar) and now he is singing with Def Leppard on their comeback single 'Nine Lives'. He & his wife had the highest grossing tour two years in a row with their Soul2Soul2 shows. He & Faith started 'Neighbor's Keeper' a charity for the hurricane ravaged areas of Louisiana & Mississippi, there respective home towns. I could go on but if nothing else,,,,,,,,if you know anything about baseball…….he is (the now deceased) Tug McGraw's son………he coined the phrase “YA GOTTA BELIEVE” while pitching for the NY Mets.

Are ya hearin' any bells? Do yourself a favor and download some of his music; particularly a song he wrote titled “If You're Reading This”……get the Kleenex ready. You can also find his live performance of that song on youtube. He performed it on one of the country music award shows (which i'm sure you don't watch)……he paid for over 100 families of fallen soldiers to come to the show and they were on stage with him during the song……very moving.

Robin I've seen him on one of Oprah Winfreys' shows long time ago and I only remember him because of that hat he was wearing. And the reason why I remember the hat is because it looked like a rubber hat, very weird.

And well Ph. McGraw plus T. McGraw that is a little memory support.

..and…I am NOT doing anybody any favor by searching for some T. McG. on youtube…

..also Vanillagirl and I live in a part of the world where most probably, many of your ancestors come from and T. McGraws ancestors as well…. so be polite and respect other peoples taste and knowledge..!!

I'm from Nashville and the trashy Nashville honky-tonk side of me is dying to smell this even though I could care less about Tim McGraw. I'm a Lefty Frizzell and Floyd Cramer type of gal; hence, the desire to smell like moss and aged whisky.

Had to google Lefty Frizzell & Floyd Cramer — my knowledge of country music is pretty much limited to Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn & Willie Nelson. Or does Lyle Lovett count? I adore Lyle Lovett.

Wow sounds like it smells of a hard one who rises home half baked on cheap liquor after getting drunk in a green moss swamp after cheating on his wife with a jaundice hooker wearing cheap perfume.

    R. – Sniffed these today during my very first trip to a Kohl’s store and they were pretty decent! Any idea who the perfumer is for this one? I see you have Richard Herpin listed for the Southern Blend flanker.
