Burberry Brit Sheer ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 23 August 2007 14 Comments

Burberry Brit Sheer perfumeBurberry will launch Burberry Brit Sheer, a new, lighter, fruity floral variation on 2003's popular Brit fragrance (previous flankers include Brit Red, Brit Gold).

Brit Sheer was developed by perfumer Emilie Coppermann, and is "designed to embody the youthful spirit of Burberry Brit and the individual, charismatic woman it was created for".

The notes include yuzu, mandarin, pineapple leaves, lychee, grapes, peony, peach blossom, sweet pea, nashi pear, white musk and amyris wood.

Burberry Brit Sheer will be available in 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via purebeauty, additional information via news.kimiss)

Other recent releases from Burberry: Burberry London for men, Burberry Summer.

Sometimes all the fruit and flowers in the descriptions of some of these scents makes me think of nothing so much as Dutch Golden Age still life paintings! Can they throw any more ingredients in the fruit salad??

This is almost off-topic, but I've been waiting for an opening to mention that I have recently been under the spell of Burberry Brit for Men (my latest purchase). It's a brisk, spicy Oriental with an intriguing floral heart that's hard (at least for me) to identify (notes say “Wild Rose” but I also get geranium, which I happen to love). On a recent day of testing up a storm at a department store, Brit for Men was one of the few fragrances that stood out for me in a sea of sameness! And we all know how that feels! Anyway, I highly recommend trying this — I feel it could have a certain “unisex” appeal. It definitely has more potential as a fall/winter scent, but I haven't been able to resist using it right now (although late summer in California is far from tropical…).

I didn't know there was a Brit for men — or do you mean the newish Burberry London for men? Either way I guess I haven't tried it, so will have to poke around the men's counter at Macy's next I'm there. Sounds nice!

There are a lot of Burberrys (Burberries?) out there, but this is definitely “Brit for Men”. I actually gave myself a healthy spritz of “London for Men” the day I sampled them both, and found London to be nice but nothing special, whereas “Brit for Men” was on my mind the rest of the day because it had a certain something I found hard to identify and struck me as memorable. I'd be curious to hear what you think if you do give it a sniff while you walk through Macy's.

I just did a search and I guess “Brit for Men” won a FiFi in 2005 in men's “Luxe” category — for whatever that's worth (if it's worth anything at all. Actually, learning that makes me feel like my “find” is a little less “special”. What a way to think, huh?!).

Can't believe I forgot it existed — I love that bottle, might be one of the nicest color combos of the Brits. Will give it a go if I can…

Got a sample of this from a magazine.

It smells pretty and playful. Quite a young smell. Though I did wonder how it will smell during summer, mixed with sweat 😛

    Staying power is pretty good.

I have a bottle of this! Since I am wearing it as I am typing, let me give my two cents' worth. It is not cloyingly or sickeningly sweet, unlike stuff like DKNY be Delicious or Ralph Lauren Ralph or one of those Escada LEs. It is fresh and ethereal, quite understated actually. It is not a terribly complex fragrance but it works for hot weather.

Such a girly perfume! I got it as a gift last night from my mother, and I insisted that my 15 year old sister takes it! It has no style, no personality at all.. just like you are spraying another cheap perfume off the shelf..

It is indeed fresh, but wouldn't suit a woman who wants something different and distinctive.

I did finally try it very briefly on paper but not on skin, and agree, rather dull.

i just tried a sample of ” burberry brit sheer “and i quite like the feminie subtlty it has on my skin. it isn't overwhelmingly perfumey, heady, or sickening like many of the non-foody types. it also isn't too fruity-sweet or too flowery. and it doesn't smell like a little girl, a hoochy-mama or a stinky old lady wearing polyester pants at $1.49 day at the woodwards cosmetic counter fighting for the last bottle of “chantilly”! omfg! lol (is anyone old enough to remember that one)? usually anything remotely floral turns on me but this doesn't. the way “burberry brit fresh” smells on me reminds me of how alfred sung “forever” smelled on an acquaintance of mine several years ago, and it was so pretty on her i simply had to try it. sadly, when i tried it it was horrific! as was j”adore, aqua di gio, etc…so this is a pleasant surprise!

Glad it worked for you! I'll stick with the Chantilly 😉
