Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab does Paris Hilton: Privilege & Pruno

Posted by Robin on 7 June 2007 35 Comments

Paris HiltonBlack Phoenix Alchemy Lab has launched two limited edition fragrances, Privilege and Pruno. The fragrances will be sold only "until Paris Hilton is released from the pokey".

Privilege is...

Polished party-girl sleaze. This is a shameless scent, devoid of caution, regret, or introspection. This perfume reeks of tabloid glamour, and has no substance whatsoever. Armoise, tuberose, white citrus, rose absolute, oakmoss, tiare, tuberose, vanilla, linden, and lemon tree blossom.

Although this scent originated with fine plants and the pure essences, the final result is a grotesque, eerily empty caricature of a debauched, narcissistic would-be debutante.

Pruno is...

Jailhouse hooch. Distilled in toilets, this vintage is comprised of chow line droppings, including oranges, apples, ketchup, and sugar.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab Privilege and Pruno are $17.50 each for 5 ml of perfume oil, and are available now at blackphoenixalchemylab. (found via theregister) You might want to buy quickly, there are unconfirmed reports that Hilton is already out of jail after only a few days.

She just got released today (seen it on the news just a few minutes ago!). So I guess they'll have to pull them right away before they even been released! LOL!!
What a joke that her term was cut in half and then they decided to release her just after 3 days!!! Now tell me that's when money talks and only money talks!

Buy them while you can, LOL — they're still on the BPAL website 🙂

Saw that she had been (supposedly) released but not why, do you know?

Now it's reported that she has been released to her home for forty days of house arrest. She was given credit for five days served in the big house, so that's how they came up with forty days of house arrest to bring it back up to her original sentence of 45 days. Apparently the doctors (meaning psychiatrists) consulted with her lawyers and the sheriffs department and their opinion was that it was better for her to be released and put under house arrest than to serve out the entire 23 days in prison.

Who knows? Sounds like she may have suffered a breakdown of some sort.

    Hugs!

R, thanks for the update, I was wondering how she got out so quickly! House arrest in her house would probably be like a vacation for me, LOL — wonder if she's allowed to use the pool?

BPAL should be rewarded for doing an anti-celebrity scent, I think!

So, since Paris just got out of the pokey, will they stop selling it?

We'll see! Perhaps they'll count house arrest as “the pokey”.

Okay, I wouldn't normally do this, but I can't resist:

House arrest in her mansion. Brutal!! She'll need a drink or two or three..or…

“devoid of caution, regret, or introspection. This perfume reeks of tabloid glamour, and has no substance whatsoever.”

    PERFECT! Haaaaaaaa!!

God help her. She's really suffering in this black hole of Calcutta. It's a 12 million dollar mansion that she got in 2005. It's located near Cameron Diaz's home, has a 20ft by 20ft custom-made walk-in wardrobe installed to fit all her designer clothes, a Baccarat crystal chandelier – one of only 12 in America.

    This is heartbreaking.

She is taking a huge beating in the press, and so are the LA officials. The whole thing is rather ludicrous!

I don't get it. She said she was on a “late night hamburger run.” Apparently, she can't afford a cook and she and Mel Gibson can't afford drivers. It must suck to be obscenely wealthy these days! P.s. What's the difference between these new scents and her old ones?

Because she deserves a huge beating in the press, I would say. What about all those individuals who do not enjoy her position of privilege and have to serve their sentences out, irregardless of any depression or anxiety they experience?

But the LA police are hardly known for playing by the rules anyway, so no surprise there.

The L.A. Sheriffs and HER deserve all the beatings they are getting in the press. I say let the “BITCH” hang! Sorry for being very derogatory. But Paleeeeeeeeeeze, “I'm tired of the rich getting all the special privileges and the regular folks such as you and I would be made to serve the full sentence PERIOD”. It's a fact. In L.A. anything happens. “They let O.J. go, why not Paris too?”
I did my happy dance at work for my coworkers when I heard she was ordered back to prison! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I'm so glad that BPAL is getting some mention in the fragrance blogs recently. They have some extremely imaginative oil blends and I think more people would develop an affinity for them with more publicity. I'm sure some people are put off by the witchy-devil themes pervading their site but, superstitions aside, there's a lot of artistic value and craftsmanship in their products too. I was delighted to see BPAL added to Basenotes' directory (all 685 or so scents- Demeter eat your heart out!).

Emailed them to see what the shipping rates are to the UK. Whoever writes their copy deserves kudos, that's for sure. I want in! haaaaaa!

I do want to ask them though, why with their extensive list, why they have not come up with fragrances for the fae? Every other creature under the sun is mentioned!

Oops, sorry, there's actually only 645. Also, if you try to look up everything by BPAL that's listed, you'll only get the first 500 as that's the limit that Basenotes allows for any search. The other 145 would have to be searched for individually. That's not the only reason why it's better to just go to BPAL's own site: the notes are listed. Granted, often they're listed with a few more adjectives than necessary along with some of the most colorful descriptions in fragranceland. Being newly listed in Basenotes, good luck finding any notes, descriptions or reviews there, or anything else besides the name and release date thus far.

I just fell in love with their site. So creative and witty, both in the descriptive copy for the oils as well as the literary references. I do want them to do some for the fae though! And lovely poetry for them abounds, so they could have fun. I have not heard back from them concerning my request for shipping rates, but I emailed over the weekend, so we'll see.

Okay, the first time you said “fae” here, I thought it was a typo and that maybe you meant “face”, like you were clamoring for moisturizer or something. What's this fae business?

Haaaa…not clamoring for moisturizer!! “Fae”, the “good people”, (they prefer this to “little people) the race of faeries/fairies. BPAL has a lot of muthological references, and felt they had neglected this area. Since they utilize literary quotes, there are some beautiful classic poems and stories about fairies that they could use brilliantly, I'm sure. Also, it just seems to lend itself to fragrance, what with fairies connection to the earth, forest and flowers.

Meanwhile, I got their shipping rates. Bah, humbug. They just about triple what it would cost for a mere human to ship something of the weight of one of their smaller bottles to the UK. And I know, having shipped enough back to the US. Forget it!

Ah well, I'm going to get around it this time. I will calculate the costs and send the amount to a friend in the US and have her order and ship to me. It will work out well, for the exchange rate now is favorable. However, the opposite is true if she were ordering from the US to a UK firm. The dollar is so bad now.
