Prince to launch perfume in Minneapolis

Posted by Robin on 30 May 2007 2 Comments

Prince will launch his upcoming fragrance, 3121, in his hometown of Minneapolis with a concert at Macys:

The singer will shill for his new perfume line, 3121, with an unusual performance on the eighth floor of Macy's in downtown Minneapolis on July 7, the same day as his previously announced Target Center concert.

Seats to the fragrance jam will be sold in a $250 Ultimate Prince Xperience package, which includes one ticket to both the 4 p.m. Macy's gig and the 7:30 p.m. Target Center show, plus two special-edition bottles of his eau de parfum.

Read the rest at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. Update: fans started lining up for tickets 28 hours in advance:

Several dozen hard-core Prince fans are spending Thursday night sleeping on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, Minn., waiting for the chance to buy tickets to an intimate performance by the Minnesota pop star.

And perhaps he'll get an award! Will be very interesting to see how this one sells. Wouldn't have thought Prince would necessarily have much pull at the fragrance counter, but I've been wrong before :-)
