Clinique Aromatics Elixir Velvet Sheer, Anna Sui Magic Romance & more ~ new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 15 August 2006 2 Comments

Clinique Aromatics Elixir Velvet Sheer fragranceClinique will launch Aromatics Elixir Velvet Sheer, a lighter version of Aromatics Elixir:

...Aromatics Elixir Velvet Sheer is a luxurious liquid perfume gel that smoothes onto the skin. The formula contains no alcohol so fragrance molecules adhere to the skin better, allowing a lighter veil of fragrance that doesn’t evaporate, for a subtle, sensual, long lasting fragrance. The scent opens with top notes of Bulgarian rose essence and chamomile that blend into a heart of lily of the valley, ylang ylang and jasmine. (via purebeauty)

Anna Sui will launch Magic Romance, "a more sophisticated version of Secret Wish", in September:

The fragrance has citrus top notes of bergamot, sicilian lemon and melon, a heart of orange blossom, tuberose and queen of the night jasmine and a dry down of coconut, amber and musk.

Irish pop star Ronan Keating of the band Boyzone has launched a pair of fragrances in the UK:

Hope By Ronan, for women, is a blend of garden herbs and flowers with notes of coriander, rosemary, rose and jasmine on a base of musk and amber. Believe By Ronan, for men, was designed as a classic eau de cologne with citrus notes on a herbaceous base.

All proceeds will go to the Marie Keating Foundation, a breast cancer charity Keating founded in honor of his mother. (both above via cosmeticsint)

I was expecting something exciting from Anna Sui's Magic Romance but was quite disappointed. I find the melon and orange blossom quite long lasting but not enough jasmine or coconut to kick it along. It almost smells 'watery'. Quite sweet, nice for young teenage girls starting out in the perfumed world.

I was about to say I thought it was dull too, but then realized I'm confusing it with Hanae Mori Magical Moon. Actually now I'm not sure which I've smelled…drat on all these similar fragrance names — makes it hard, especially when everything smells the same no matter what the notes are.
