Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely Liquid Satin, Esprit Horizon, Guerlain Lights of Champs Elysees: new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 12 August 2006 14 Comments

Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely Liquid Satin fragrance

Sarah Jessica Parker will launch Lovely Liquid Satin, "an alcohol-free, silicone-based sprayable scent", in September:

Liquid Satin has top notes of mandarin, rosewood, lavender and apple martini; a heart of patchouli, paperwhites and orchid, and a drydown of cedar, white amber and musk.

The notes appear to be the same as the original Lovely fragrance, but the fragrance is said to be different. It will be available in spray or rollerball wand, both versions "dry on the skin to a satiny finish". (via Women's Wear Daily)

Esprit will introduce Horizon fragrances for men and women in September. Horizon Man has notes of black Bourbon vanilla, elemi, lavender, birch, roasted tonka bean, nutmeg, cinnamon and musk. Horizon Woman features jasmine, pink grapefruit, lychee, pink pepper, Jamaica ginger, magnolia, thuja, sandalwood, amber and musk. (via cosmoty.de)

Guerlain has released Lights of Champs Elysées, a duty-free exclusive fragrance featuring almond blossom, pink pepper, iris, ylang ylang, mimosa, vanilla, cedar and vetiver. (via osmoz)

Hmmm… I wouldn't mind trying out Lovely liquid Satin by SJP. I have to say that the alcohol-free fragrance is intriguing. But I'm wondering if wearing silicone would be as toxic as alcohol? Any ideas about silicone?

Silicone (or one of its many derivatives) is in a huge percentage of skincare and hair products, so most people are already using it whether they know it or not. I wouldn't worry about it, but then, I don't worry about alcohol either.

I'm intrigued by the silicone idea, too! I wonder what the lasting power will be? My skin eats alcohol-based fragrances like you wouldn't believe, so I tend to buy and wear oils instead, but a silicone-based fragrance sounds VERY interesting!

    Thanks!

I guess I don't really worry too much about alcohol either, judging by the amount of perfume I buy all the time but if I can find alcohol free fragrances all the time that'll be great!!

This is tempting. I like Lovely till the Veet/Immac note kicks in – maybe that will be missing in this rendition

Another line to try is CB I Hate Perfume — they have a great “water formula”.

As I just said above, you might also want to try the water formula by CB I Hate Perfume. I use it like a body spray as opposed to putting on pulse points, and the lasting power is very good. And I don't usually buy scented lotions, but am lemming the Hermes Jardin Sur Le Nil lotion after trying it a few weeks ago.

Ah, that isn't what one looks for in a perfume, LOL…

I have to admit, I couldn't appreciate “Lovely”–at least on me. There didn't seem to be enough of a balance to kick off the florals. It's sort of how “Pleasures” wears on me; It's pleasant enough but there's no heart to it, then it develops into something chemically-acidic.

I am excited to smell the recreation/new version of “Champs”, though. Unless, of course, it ends up smelling like “Too Much Champs”—which actually smelled like “too little” for me. Mimosa is so strong in and of itself, to take away the almond blossom/gourmande influence that balanced it, left me with the same impression of “Too Much Champs”, that I had of “Pleasures”.

I never got to smell Too Much Champs myself, but may get a chance to smell the new one this month so will see!

Lovely was cool for about 2 days for me. I hated the lasting power!! It stayed on my shirt though. Lovely Liquid Satin smells exactly like Lovely, except the Lovely is WAYY stronger. I sprayed Liquid Satin on a card, and could barely smell it!!

The Liquid Satin seems more like a body product than a perfume, if you know what I mean. You could probably smooth it all over your arms and still not be wearing too much. I liked it though!
