Creed Love in White, Lanvin Arpege Pour Homme, Paul Smith Floral & more new fragrances

Posted by Robin on 12 August 2005 5 Comments

Creed Love in White perfumeCreed will debut Love in White in the United States this September, starting in Neiman Marcus (where several people have already reported seeing it), Bergdorf Goodman, and the NYC Saks, then moving on to other Saks stores in October. Creed will donate a portion of the sales for Love in White to UNESCO:

Described as a floral/oriental, Love in White features a top note of orange zest, middle notes of young iridescent rice husk, iris, white jasmine, daffodils, magnolia and Bulgarian rose, and base notes of vanilla, ambergris and sandalwood.

Creed Love in White is an Eau de Parfum, and is available in 30, 75 and 240 ml and in matching body products. (quote via Women's Wear Daily, additional information via osmoz)

Lanvin Arpege Pour Homme cologneLanvin will launch Arpège Pour Homme, a woody oriental fragrance for men, in September:

...concocted by Givaudan's Olivier Pescheux, [it] has top notes of pink peppercorns, mandarin, bitter orange and neroli; a heart of iris, jasmine, maté and nutmeg, and a drydown of vanilla, tonka beans, patchouli, Australian sandalwood and rare woods.

Lanvin Arpège Pour Homme is available in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. (quote via Women's Wear Daily, additional information via cosmeticsint)

Paul Smith Floral perfumePaul Smith will launch a new fruity floral scent, Paul Smith Floral, in October:

The scent, by Laurent Eruyere of International Flavors and Fragrances, has top notes of sweet orange, pink grapefruit, fresh ginger and water lily; a heart of white magnolia, orchid and osmanthus blossom, and a drydown of amber, exotic woods, musk and tonka beans. [Note: I am assuming that should read Laurent Bruyere]

Paul Smith Floral "is a lovely evocation of the 70's 'Flower Power' spirit", and comes in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum. (first quote via Women's Wear Daily, second via Paul Smith)

Donna Karan will jump on the layering bandwagon this October with Donna Karan Essence, a collection of oils. They will start with a quartet: lavender, jasmine, labdanum, and wenge (a dark African wood). (via Women's Wear Daily)

CREED's LOVE IN WHITE makes its New York City debut during Fashion Week — at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fith Avenue's flagship store. The new scent is already available nationally at Neiman Marcus and http://www.neimanmarcus.com.

The first bottle of LOVE IN WHITE to arrive in the USA from France was given to First Lady Laura Bush to celebrate the historic fact that LOVE IN WHITE is the first CREED scent ever to make its global debut in America. Others to receive first bottles of LOVE IN WHITE include model Lauren Bush and actress Angelina Jolie because these women and CREED's new scent all share a link to the United Nations. Sales of CREED's LOVE IN WHITE in part support the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) — the first time a CREED fragrance has ever supported a charity — while model Lauren Bush is a spokeswoman for the UN World Food Programme and actress Angelina Jolie is a UN goodwill ambassador working on refugee issues.

I cannot say how much I love this fragrance. I never ever thought, it was going to be so beautiful on me. I received a bottle of it in a swap and ever since I couldn't stop using it. It is so feminine, subtle, soft and gorgeous.

I found Arpège p.H. at TK Maxx last year, and despite being completely skint I couldn’t resist the bargain price of £12.99. For some reason there were two price labels on the package, one on each side, and they scanned in the wrong one… I had to choke when I was told to pay £3.99 for 50 ml of delicious, high quality, pure powdery elegance. There is a vague remembrance of the original Arpège, its bitterness. I swear I had nothing to do with sticking that wrong price label on one side! I felt only very slightly criminal on my way home—and very happy.
It became one of my favourites. They dryness renders the sweetness very bearable (it shares a gourmand-powdery aspect with Prada’s Amber p.H.). Imagine some rosé-white, oriental sugar-dusted comfit cube, smelling of aniseed and flowers that is surprisingly less sweet inside than European confectionary and especially enjoyable because of the vanillic spicyness.
Luca Turin finds it boring but praises the high quality ingredients. I would say it’s understated elegance, but not boring. It seems to be completely free of those nasty vibrating neverending musky/woody notes, which are omnipresent in in the drydown of men’s fragrance. I thought the pink pepper opening was quite new when it was released. Maybe bit too ‘de luxe’ to wear it everyday, but my bit of daily luxury, for £3.99.

What a bargain! I never find anything that wonderful at TJ Maxx here, much less at that price. Congrats, it sounds wonderful.
