Students at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, Scotland, are working with perfumers at International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) to create fragranced clothing:
The technology works by binding millions of tiny microcapsules on to a fabric, which set off a sweet-smelling scent with friction and movement.
The fragrance is released gradually and the perfume lasts for 15 to 20 washes…
I read recently in Luxist that the Westin Hotel chain is using magazine scent strips to advertise their new signature scent: “White Tea. The Calming New Scent of Westin”, which according to Brandweek will be “faintly wafting this spring in Westin properties worldwide”. Sure enough, there is a strip in my latest New Yorker. It smells vaguely like a cross between Bvlgari's Green tea and White tea fragrances, and I would venture to guess that it isn't all that different from the lemongrass and green tea fragrance used at Omni hotels. Remember the radio host who says she was sickened by a colleague's perfume and then fired unjustly when she complained? She was originally awarded 10.6 million dollars in a federal lawsuit. Then a judge knocked that back to $814,000. Now, that same judge has increased the award to $1.2 million (link to article no longer working, sorry!) in damages plus $423,807 for legal costs.

The Venexx perfume watch has come to sephora. The stainless steel watch face conceals a small spray atomizer allowing you to refresh your fragrance on the go; a funnel and pipette are included for refills. You can watch a video explaining how it works at the Venexx site.
The original set also included a sample of the Venexx fragrance for women created by perfumer Philippe Bousseton, but the sephora site does not mention that so I don't know if it is included. Available in white, pink or black for $180 at sephora, or in other colors directly from Venexx.
