Pop star Gwen Stefani launched her L.A.M.B. (Love. Angel. Music. Baby.) fashion label in 2003, and by all accounts it has been extraordinarily successful even while many other celebrity fashion lines are struggling. A perfume was sure to follow.
I don’t really know much about Gwen Stefani, but L (or “L, a L.A.M.B. fragrance”, as Nordstrom calls it) didn’t sound like what you’d expect from the “muse of the unconventional”, what with notes like “sparkling green freshness” and “leafy water hyacinth” (additional notes include freesia, pear, violet leaves, jasmine, rose, lily of the valley, sweet pea, orange blossom, frangipani blossom, peach skin, heliotrope and musk). Stefani noted that she wanted her fragrance to be “light, fresh and clean”, another good indicator that we might not expect anything too edgy or unusual…
