5 perfumes: transitional autumn fragrances 2022

Posted by Jessica on 27 October 2022 18 Comments

I’m writing this review from my favorite beach or, more accurately, the beachside inn where I’m taking a short breather from the city and soaking up some of the last warm temperatures of the season. Summer roses x 4 ~ fragrance & body product reviews

Posted by Jessica on 29 July 2021 4 Comments

How has your summer been going? Mine has been feeling very transitional, very limbo-like. Covid numbers have been going down in my city; or, wait, have they? Les Parfums de Rosine Rose Griotte is a rose perfume for a certain type of summer day…

Posted by Jessica on 25 February 2021 11 Comments

I’ve been thinking again about Kevin’s recent post about samples. I recognize his frustration with so many niche brands: the ever-higher prices and well-designed websites don’t always guarantee novel or memorable olfactory experiences. I deliberately stalled on trying the new-ish brand BDK Parfums (founded in 2016, but only available in the United States since 2020) because I had a hunch that, despite a wave of online adulation, this would be more of the same. But then I had a chance to receive a BDK sample set as a gift-with-purchase, so I gave in; why not?

If you’re familiar with French and French-inspired niche perfumery brands of the twenty-first century, you’ll recognize this checklist of familiar elements…
