Thursday scent of the day 10/22

Posted by Robin on 22 October 2026 5 Comments

Happy Almost-Friday! It's also International Stuttering Awareness Day and National Nut Day. Birthdays: Franz Liszt, Doris Lessing, Robert Capa, Catherine Deneuve and Jeff Goldblum. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Chanel Bois des Iles in the Extrait, which Deva called soothing and meditative.

Reminder: 10/23 will be Unbottling Emotions Friday ...wear a scent that you think embodies an emotion, and do tell us what that emotion is. Suggested by happy888cat.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll occasionally manage to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

    Smelling fabulous, Robin!

I’m wearing AdV Delhi today. This is a very busy perfume. Not sure busy is an emotion but for the purposes of this post, I’m claiming it is.

It’s a joyous spice fest that the online experts are comparing to the open spice markets in the east. I’ve never been, so I can only imagine. For me, it’s a “busy” perfume in the same way a beehive is busy. Not to say it smells like honey. Nope, but all the different spices are so busy wiggling and dancing like bees in hive, this is what it reminds me of. At first, a hive may seem chaotic. What do all those wiggling bees, moving in different directions, shaking their booties and buzzing their wings mean? In all this seemingly disorganized activity, there is a common purpose, there is communication, and there is the joy of home and family.

Paralleling this, all the lovely spices in this perfume are dancing and moving with the common purpose of creating a scintillating spicy delight to charm the nose of the wearer and close companions. To encourage deep calming breaths amidst the riot of spices and to promote relief from the insanity of the world.

Also, it reminds me of lightning bugs on a summer night, the color of their little thoraxes blinking gently off and on in the evening. Nature’s fireworks, peaceful and serene, as they busily signal and connect with their flying brethren.

Apparently I have a bug up my 🍑 today, in the best way. 🙃

Sorry, Carole didn’t get back to your question yesterday! I was so sore after Pilates, even though I felt as though I hadn’t done much. How can that be? 😂

Venting: The flu is making its way through my house. I was up from 1–2 a.m. with my son, who’s been sick for a few days, only to be up again shortly after 6 a.m. to get my other child ready for school. I’m the only one in the house who hasn’t caught it yet! I’ve resorted to putting slices of raw garlic on my toast, 🧄 this morning. Hoping to keep both vampires and colds at bay. I’m exhausted, to say the least, and apart from a few phone calls, I’ll be spending the day in my pajamas

SOTD: Pot Pourri by SMN from my sample, I wish I could bath in this as it really smells like a herbal rubbing balm. Opens up the nostrils. I have thought about spraying this on a hanky and leaving it on the bedside table for my son. Still thinking about it.

    The emotion: resilience
doing my best to keep going taking care of all the family while secretly longing for a long nap. 😂

SOTD is Comme des Garçons 2, which I am matching with intellectual curiosity.
