For anyone who did not see my comment on Friday, my mom was in the hospital for a couple days last week and is now back home with hospice. She is 90 and as she says, she has had a good run and has no complaints. The hospice people are wonderful and taking very good care of us. My sister arrived today and more family are on the way.
I turned this into a 4 day poll and will try to post again on Wednesday, but if I don’t, I’ll be back when I can.
Robin, sending you, your sister, your son and your mom love and peace on this journey.

I’m so sorry, Robin. It’s good that you’ll have your sister there with you, that your mother seems reconciled, and you have help from hospice staff. Actually I am in the same situation but perhaps more advanced. My mother is in memory care and not home with me. She is almost 95 and is sleeping all the time now. I am ready to see her at peace and I’m sure she is ready too.
Calypso, I wish you peace and love as you see this journey through. 95 years is a good run, even if the tail of it is in memory care. Hugs to you!

My mom was a hospice nurse, I have a special place in my heart for those angels on earth.
Sorry to hear. Agree with others that hospice is very helpful. After being on both sides (physician side and family member side), I have learned a lot about end of life decision making and care.

SotD Le Lion. I spied the bottle and the thought popped into my head to wear it before August winds down. I seem to recall that I find the long dry down my favorite part, so I will be sniffing as the evening wears on.
Le Lion is super nice. I think of it as a cold weather scent, because it’s so cozy smelling.

And completely agree about the dry down. I try spray Le Lion as early in the day as possible b/c the dry down goes on….and on…and on…and is extremely wonderful! If I spray too late, I miss it when I fall asleep. eaheheh Sad, but true.

SOTD is another Forgotten fragrance I haven’t worn in ages, Revlon Skinlights. A citrussy aromatic scent, it’s light and refreshing despite having herbs and spices including lavender, ginger, sage and cardamom. Really nice, I should definitely wear this one more often.👍
Volunteered at a library event earlier today that really tuckered me out. I took a nap which I rarely do and plan on taking it easy the rest of the day.

I’ve never even heard of Skinlights, Laila. Revlon had a lot of fragrances over the years that are no longer in production. And let’s not forget Revlon’s founder Charles Revson, who also had his own line “Revson.”
I know. I don’t even remember how, when or where I got it and was very surprised to even find it on fragrantica, which says it was released in 2001. My bottle looks different than the one pictured but certainly smells like the one described. I really like the touch of ginger which is soft enough to work even on a warm summer day.
I loved the Ultima II line, the perfume and cosmetics line – and that the fabulous makeup artist Kevin Aucoin began his career there.
Hot Amber Summer™ continues with Ambre Loup today. I sampled this once before but am thinking I don’t need a FB. 😅
And in Confessional Corner…I am happy to report that I bought a FB of Ambre Precieux. 🥰 I also revisited my sample Ambre Mythique and think I may need more of that when it’s drained too. 😇 I also bought a couple of things of EvilBay but I will properly confess for those items when I try them at a later date….I believe they call that a cliffhanger ehaeheh…slightly different than a doorknob comment in therapy…but not much. 😆
Also, I’ve decided that embracing IPH (Insatiable Perfume Hunger) is the only normal response to these trying times. 🤷♀️ 🤗 Join me!

I am in the same position and will be confessing when the time comes. When I finish a sample I like – or even before I finish it – I start getting an irrational fear of not having it anymore. To be fair, I don’t blind buy that much and the vast majority of the samples I buy just go into the sample box, don’t make the cut
Had to look up “doorknob comment” — I can relate! My preference for texting over phone calls is a sort of corollary in that texts don’t have to be responded to instantly, giving the conversation a bit more opportunity for thoughtfulness. And I agree about IPH!

I have thought about getting that book. I might still do that. One that you would like would be Whistler by Ann Patchett. I am not quite done with it, but I love it, and it has been on bestseller lists for quite some time.
I’ve been wearing a lot of Iris Silver Mist lately, although yesterday I wore The Plains by 4160 Tuesdays, a Canadian prairie themed scent based on goldenrod, which is blooming right now. Farmer’s almanac says when the goldenrod blooms, we are six weeks away from the first frost. I’m so happy the heat is gone and we have had some gorgeous sunny days with moderate temps. Bring on fall! Today I will wear Comète.
Your scent sounds interesting; I’ve never smelled a scent based on goldenrod. It’s blooming here, too, and I’m also so-o-o ready for fall. We’ve had a nice string of sunny days w/o much humidity finally but we’re getting back to high heat and humidity for the next 3-4 days starting later today. Right now we’re having some much-needed rainfall before the (hopefully 🤞) last heatwave of the season begins. Bring on the frost!

Yay to Comete today!! One day I will own a full bottle too. Yay to Iris Silver Most although it has been on my to-try list for way over 20 years now, I had so many SL fragrances – I can’t believe I never tried Iris Silver Mist yet. But yay to it. I am SURE it is beautiful.
Sunday scent is SL Sarrasins, a perfume that makes me swoon. It is so gorgeous and there is nothing like it. It really bloomed when I hiked with the dog this morning. I wish I had bought a bottle when it came out and was more reasonably priced. But it was never cheap. It’s certainly on my ‘to buy’ list though. My decant is from a swap with a lovely and generous NSTer. Thank you!
Also, I’m daring to wear something a little more intense because it’s only supposed to be 91 today and this morning was a crisp 74 degrees at dawn. We shall see, but we are all breathing a sigh of relief that the worst is over…for now.
Sarrasins is amazing. I bet it bloomed wonderfully in 90-something temps.
Hi, I just saw the New Dior perfume bottles by Francis Kurkdjian. Allegedly He said something along the lines that when He “saw that Dior fragrances are morphing into something He cannot recognize anymore” He had to step in and bring Dior back into what it ought to be. Something a long those lines. I always have this faint thought in the back of my head that if I wasn’t so madly into Chanel – I would be collecting Dior. Why not collect both? Ah, that’s a story for another day haha. I am all or nothing to keep it short and I have known both brands all my life and actually generally speaking I think Dior is a fabulous House but Chanel is simply the best in my opinion. Dior is the other brand that is VERY French. Let me tell You something: if You were a child growing up in the 90s, right before the internet took over the world, there was only so much that You could see or hear about. Nowadays You are bombarded with thousands of different brands, celeb photos, more known, lesser known ect. But back in my childhood days one knew of only two French brands and it was always Chanel and Dior. I didn’t even know what Louis Vuitton was until early 2000s. I am sorry but the two French giants to me will forever be Chanel and Dior.
Moving onto what I was going to say, I can see how fun it must be to collect Dior Poison perfumes. I also do adore the Dior Houndstooth anything. Chanel is Quilt n’Tweed and Dior is Houndstooth. Again I ventured away from what I started to say: oh the new Dior bottles I believe of Diorissimo, Diorama and Dior something something haha. I just have to say that when I see these just now my heart skipped a beat. I love them!! First of all a while back when I was looking up Dior vintage perfumes just for fun (meaning no buy:) I had seen these Dior perfume bottles and I loved them thinking if I wasn’t collecting Chanel – I would be getting a Diorissimo bottle for sure. And now these ones are actually being rereleased again. Diorissimo is Lily of the Valley one, another one was vanilla and the other one something else. But they are so cute and adorable!! I maybe get one.
I’m back home and off to work this morning. It’s a sunny day, but yet another winter storm is coming. I’m wearing Fort and Manle Suleyman Le Magnifique.
Warming up today with higher humidity and some on-again-off-again rain. SOTD is the long d/c YR Pur Desir de Gardenia, one of the few white florals I enjoy. It’s basically just a nice, soft creamy gardenia soliliflore. I have all of the Pur Desir line and enjoy them all, but especially the Lilac, my favorite lilac scent.
Hoping to get to a neighboring community’s 🎶festival later today where one of our favorite tribute bands is doing Santana. But it’s looking iffy right now where rain is predicted later.🤷♀️

We just had a huge thunderstorm, now it’s wet and steamy. Supposed to rain for the next few days. But at least it’s not blazing hot.
We had light rain but no storms thus far. Unfortunately, ‘isolated storms’ are predicted off and on for the next few days along with 90 degree heat and humidity. Ugh!

We did but we sat with umbrellas in a light rain for most of the event making it difficult to see the performers on stage. Even without the rain it was extremely humid and uncomfortable. But the band was their usual terrific selves and Mr. Laila is a huge Santana fan so it all worked out ok.
Wrapping up the usual sample testing this weekend. I tried out Perfumehead La La Love yesterday. I know some people love that one but I get some sort of urine note or something in the beginning and it takes a while to get past it. Maybe a blessing, since I have lots of wants as it is .
Today, I tested out Matiere Premiere Parisian Musk, quite nice though not sure FBW. I have been on a musk kick lately.
I baked a cake for daughter’s birthday. Baking is generally not my strongest skill, though I am a pretty good cook, I just don’t do desserts much. The bakery cakes I got her in the past, even the expensive ones, have generally not been good at all, one we basically had to throw out. I usually do a carrot cake because I have mastered that but this year I got inspired to branch out and I did a flourless chocolate cake that is a single layer with mocha whipped cream on top. Not the fanciest cake but I am wondering what how it will taste. I should be able to get over the low bar of the bakery cakes, at least.
Now wearing Acne Studio/Malle, planning to go to a local restaurant daughter requested, one that is highly rated and I have never gone there before.
I’m sure your cake will be miles better than the horrible bakery cakes. I use the Butter Baked Goods book by Rosie Daykin, owner of the Butter bakery in Vancouver. Great recipes and no failures yet. I like to make layer cakes with buttercream frosting.

Zephyr2 if you feel like sharing your impression of the Malle I’m all ears. I tried it and recoiled-hated it, hated the name, hated its bottle. For some reason tried it again and loved it-not the name but I do love the juice and the bottle. Go figure. It has nuclear lasting power on me and one spritz is fine for me. I went to Ulta today. I tried the new Valentino Vendetta. The notes are blood orange, tuberose, and sandalwood. I really liked it for about an hour. The orange and tuberose smelled wonderful. Unfortunately, the drydown is a faint fake sandalwood. I was excited that it was so perfumey at first. I will probably test it again.
Monday morning and I’m trying to continue the autumnal vibe in Profumum Roma Arso. Unfortunately, our weather is back to summer heat for a couple of days. Maybe I should embrace it and get outside to do some weed-pulling?
September already!!! And it looks like spring this morning. I’m wearing the fabulous green Scherrer.
Today happened to be a package arrival day. Chance Eau Tendre just got delivered. Also I was on a strict no expensive purchase time for a while but unfortunately (or fortunately) I found a Chanel quilted #5 charm in white gold on my favorite Japanese luxury resale market, and I always always knew that I wanted to own a piece of Chanel jewelry with #5. I found it at such a super bargain price that it almost made my head spin. The seller said She sold it at such a bargain because She wasn’t sure if the clasp was just on the weak side purposely and You have to use Your fingers to close it hard or if it’s a faulty clasp/bail. It’s here. And yup it’s just a faulty clasp. It’s like the spring inside is weak/loose, it does close but doesn’t function as good. But the charm is absolutely a dream piece of mine. It’s smaller than my other charm but sometimes it’s a good thing. It’s like smaller = cuter, more adorable. Smaller sometimes means it’s actually better and that’s the case here. Less is more sometimes. The charm had a delivery date set to Thursday but FedEx coming from Japan means super duper express. It was a nice surprise it got here today. Also Elixir Des Merveilles is due to be delivered today – a gift for a dear friend of mine. I gifted Her probably about 10 perfumes within a years time but She goes through them so quickly too. Like 2 months ago She said Elixir was Her favorite perfume ever and I just found it at a very good price. Elixir Des Merveilles always costs more than Eau des Merveilles, always. I got it for $60 with shipping. That isn’t expensive now is it? After that I really really plan on not buying much anymore. I was also seeing Kenzo Memoir bottles and they look so cute (on the internet). Today I saw the yellow (sunny tea) and pink one (Japanese azuki bean) and I think there is a green one too with green tea. I would love to try all 3. Has anyone ever tried any of the Kenzo Memoir fragrances? Can anyone who did tell me if they are any good?
Ok so I just looked the up and first of all they are called “Memori”, second of all there are quite more of them than I thought: Lotus, Cherry, Cedar, Tatami. I remember now why I wanted to try the green one: just the name is “Matcha Poudre” yes I am huge on powdery perfumes and to combine tea with powder? Sounds like my dream. I would love to try the Azuki bean one too though.
Yay for package arrival day! I don’t know about the Kenzos, but Matcha Poudre would appeal to me to try, too. 🍵

SOTD is JCB Violette-Menthe from its Fleurs d’Ombre line. One of the few florals I enjoy in summer, mint adds a refreshing note to the violet making it sheer and cool rather than warm and powdery. It has the same beautiful etched glass bottle as the other FdO’s I have, the Rose and the Bleue, and I ❤️ them all.

Scent(s?) of the Day Shalimar body creme and Millesime Rose. MR is the star in the combo; the Shalimar body creme is just a bit too lemony-sweet. It was steamy hot here today, and just walking around the yard and garden watering pots and picking a few flowers and tomatoes left me dripping with sweat. I kept my street clothes on because I wan’t planning on any dirty or heavy work, but they will be going in the wash. Once I got out there, I just decided to finish what little needed to be done. There was a lot of street work near my house and I could hardly imagine those folks keeping cool in vests and hard hats. Having great fun with my hummingbird feeder. I think I’m seeing the new fledglings, as two of the females look slimmer and smaller. They seem to be hovering and “air-dancing” with each other a bit more than usual. Hope everyone’s week is off to a good start. ☀️
Mmmm that sounds like a amazing combo: I used to not be able to stand Shalimar but thanks to Le Lion I want to try it again. Too lemony-sweet sounds good to me though.

Popping in for a brief comment this Monday evening. I was busier than I anticipated today, which was a pleasant change of pace. Mother Nature has kindly given the Front Range a break from scorching summer temperatures for a couple of days. You know it’s been hot when mid 80’s feel downright autumnal. I even caught a rare glimpse of Pikes Peak this afternoon.
SOTD = commando. Ran out the door to get things done without perfume! But wearing scented lotion in the usual spots.

I am wearing a spray of Beige from my decant, I am 100 million % sure I will own a full bottle some time. Actually I already do, I have it in the Extrait but I refuse to open it. I sometimes take out the sealed box, hold it in my hands and just smile. I just smile that I own it. It’s one of the holy Grails of my collection – just a box of Beige in pure parfum, sealed and beautiful. I want to own a bottle of Beige EdP and another bottle of the extrait because I want to keep one sealed and one to be used. I absolutely melt when I smell Beige. The honey note is the most smooth, with a touch of green, oh man. Beige is so so so so beautiful it makes my head spin. Absolutely nothing in this universe smells like it, not even close. The powderiness of it oh is to die for. Hot pink florals with the most smooth, delicious honey that just screams: “gorgeousness” and a touch of perfect green. Hot pink, golden honey and powdery green. And it’s called Beige. Because of it Beige never smells of khaki anymore haha
So apparently Chanel is opening a cafe for fragrance lovers. Coco Mademoiselle – wow am I dreaming right now?

The last package arrived today: it’s a GWP Chanel bracelet with a leather/gold chain twist and a strand of faux pearls. Loaded with charms, came with a Chanel gift bag that has more of these charms. Ok I understand that all of this are just gifts with purchase but 1. It’s not easy to score such a nice gift with purchase in real life 2. The seller outdid Herself selling me this bracelet just loaded with them. I paid a full amount of… $17.00 for it. I got a lipstick charm, a star, a heart, a powder compact charm. So many cute charms!! This thing looks like it’s worth a lot more than just $17. Yay for me.

I got out some of my September fragrances yesterday but none of them suited the day so I just wore a tiny spritz of Pacifica Tuscan Blood Orange, which was refreshing enough for my volunteer library afternoon. Home now for the rest of the day and no desire to go out again.

Dior Riviera today from a sample. I’m not a fig lover but this has a nice effervescent feel to it.
Just ordered a sample of TF Tobacco Chocolate to test before Paris. There are zero blind buys in my future.
I was about to lose my mind too, apsara, and I was just thinking this afternoon how wonderful it is to feel a slight breeze and have sunshine that isn’t scorching. I did not know about TF Tobacco Chocolate but it makes perfect sense since Tobacco Vanille was such a hit.
I am wearing vintage Chloe Narcisse, loads of it, since I’m testing all my bottles. I stockpiled way too much of this some y ears ago and it’s time to let go of some of them.

Enjoying the last of the less hot days here. Summer is still here, despite a tiny bit of snow falling on the highest mountains yesterday. It was probably melted in 15 minutes. 🤣🤣🤣
SOTD = commando again. Didn’t sleep worth a darn last night. I have noticed that sometimes perfume isn’t very pleasant if I am sleep-deprived. But scented lotion is usually OK even in those circumstances.
Oy about the no sleep! Hopefully you will catch up shortly.
I had some sleep, but it was broken. Kept waking up after a while. No bueno!
BTW, I was in Golden recently. Saw a bunch of the new students at School of Mines touring thru downtown as I was passing thru. Thought of your stories re: your Dad.

It looks like we’re getting a bit more rain the next few days. We had a great rain day on Saturday (all day long). It’s a start.

Hi everyone, happy hump day.
Wearing kai again, not sure when the last time was that I just fell in love with a new perfume. It’s like falling in love with new music and just wanting to play it over and over again.
Supposed to be the last day of a heat wave, it’s miserable outside. Come on, fall.

I love Kai, but I keep forgetting to wear it. I have the body cream I use on my legs and it’s wonderful.
I’ve heard the body products are excellent.
On day 4 of my 3rd vacation of the year. Tonight, I am going to a Rob Zombie concert. As much as I love Rob Zombie, I really want to see The Hu. I never thought that Mongolian throat singing would work with heavy metal. Since it is going to be hot and humid, my choices are Epic 45 or Au Coeur du Desert. Both are dry perfumes and I think dry perfumes work with hot and humid a little better.
Oh, do tell about The Hu’s set afterwards! I have heard some of their Metallica covers. 🤘🤘
Fall is just a hope and a wish here so far. Predicted temps this week are mid to high 90’s. Consequently, I’m still rocking the summer scents because all my fall favorites are fading memories at this point. CSP Banane Vanille because if you have to suck up these kind of temps in September, at least you can have fun doing it!
Still working on getting my New Mexico tax return from last year. It has gone beyond ridiculous to criminal at this point. I refuse to ever work in that state again.

I have heard all sorts of things about NM since moving back to Colorado, and none of them are good.
I love NM in general because of all the gorgeous landscapes but in all my traveling over the past 10 years no other state has ever given me such a hassle regarding my refund. ☹️
NM has some serious infrastructure issues, from what the rumors say. Haven’t been down there personally to verify.

SOTD is L’Heure Bleue 26. I did a blind buy and just received it 15 minutes ago. My first thoughts are that I can definitely smell the ozone and powder notes. There is Ambroxan but I don’t detect it much so that didn’t bother me. I thought the OG L’Heure Bleue was a bit old fashioned. This one will probably appeal to a younger crowd, which I am not one of, but I still like it. The reviews are not good and I can see why people may not appreciate it when compared to the old version however, I’m okay with it. The iris is quite light and airy to me. I very rarely blind buy anymore but took a chance on this one. Happy with my purchase. I don’t think I would call it a safe blind buy. If someone here really wants to try it, let me know. They sent a sample with my purchase.

The more I wear it, the more I detect what is probably the ambroxan. This is one you wouldn’t like. I don’t think anyway.
Thanks for sharing your impressions on the new L’HB. IDK if that would be something I could tolerate or not. Powder is OK for me sometimes, but ozone makes me wary.

The more I wore it yesterday, the more I question it too. I thought I liked it, but it lasts forever and I think the amboxan may not have agreed with me. I thought it was the ozone smell and now I’m not sure. I will have to try it some more before I make a final decision. I think I sprayed too much (three sprays total) and didn’t know it would last so long.

Another extremely hot, humid day, 96 degrees, feels like 101, with a 71 dew point. The Heat Advisory has now been extended til tomorrow.
Crazy things happening here. One of the bridges in downtown Chicago that lifted to let a boat through got stuck open this morning for hours (a malfunction due to the heat they said) and screwed up traffic downtown big time. This afternoon I stopped by Walgreens to pick up a couple of items and the power went out in the store; lights went out, then they on, then they flickered on and off for 5 minutes, then they went off again. Given today’s world, it was scary! It took 15 minutes to get things up and working again. Crazy!🤪
SOTD is YR Peche from its Les Plaisirs Nature line, a light refreshing peach with a touch of green notes. It’s just enough scent for a day like today.

Apparently it was stuck open for 4 hours and was finally fixed; the official word was that the malfunction was heat-related.

Maggie O’Farrell’s been on my list for awhile now. Recently started The Land in Winter by Andrew Miller–so far so good.
I don’t have that one on my list, but I think you need to read Whistler and The Calamity Club. Both are excellent books.
I’m still wearing Let’s Pretend and interested to learn that it’s being compared to Ganymede, which I also like. They share saffron, mandarin, osmanthus, oud and woody notes (but no Ambroxan!)
Just watching the international news about El Niño, which is apparently the strongest in recorded history. There’s a “100% certainty” that weather in 2027 will be calamitous due to record breaking heat, floods, monstrous storms, and general mayhem. Something to look forward to I guess. 🙃
Today I’m wearing Bronze Goddess and remembering the 80’s and 90’s when many family members from across the pond visited us regularly and delighted in the beaches of the Florida gulf coast. We had us some good times!

Still on our recent CP that was wearing a forgotten fragrance. I dug out my little bottle of NEZ Ambre à Levres and spritzed that today. It’s such a great fragrance — makes me wonder why it was never offered in a bigger bottle? (I have 15 mls and I think that’s the only size there was.)

Last night I wore Shalimar Millesime Iris to bed. I thought I was going to take my bottle on a trip to see my sister (and give it to one of my nieces, whoever claimed it). But it smelled quite nice, not as sweet somehow. I’ll try it again (just to be sure) before I head out of town.

Hair turned out really good. She didn’t cover ALL the grey! Somehow that wouldn’t look right.
Colorado is probably the worst off re: drought of all the Western states. Those maps are super ugly, with a lot of Severe and Exceptional drought listed.

I’m joining springpansy today in a forgotten fragrance, Dame Perfumery Peach Blossom, Violet and Vanilla. I was pulling out more September scents and was surprised to find a full bottle of it; I truly don’t remember having it. (I think that’s a sign that maybe I have too many perfumes???🤔) Since I’m into peach in September I chose this as my SOTD and am enjoying it very much. It’s softly peachy with some floral notes (although I don’t smell ‘violet’ per se) and lasts quite well for an edt.
Continued hot and humid with occasional storms til Sunday. It was difficult to get excited in this scorching weather about what seemed like 900 pumpkin products seen grocery shopping this afternoon (although I will admit I succumbed to pumpkin spice cookies I just couldn’t resist 😊).

SOTD = Eris Parfums Delta of Venus. I stand by a previous comment of mine saying that the fruit notes in this are perfectly balanced. Not too sweet and not irritatingly tart/acidic.
I really wanted to love the Eris brand. Unfortunately everything I have tried is too ambroxan heavy for me.
And I know that ambroxan is your perfume nemesis.

My sister had an intestinal surgery about 6 weeks ago. Afterward she found out she contracted a pseudomonia (sp?) Infection. It’s getting really bad and is now in her blood and other organs. I’ve just been worried sick. I wasn’t going to share this, but I guess I just need to. I’m really scared for her.
Any prayers would be greatly appreciated.

I’ve been wearing Hush Hush parfum and Tobacco Honey the past few days. We are having wonderful fall weather except for last night, which was dark and stormy with lots of high winds and rain. May go back to Iris Silver Mist tomorrow. I did have a day in Gourmand Coquin in there somewhere. My choices are so random and repetitive at the same time.
I’m in 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds today. The sun popped out after an early morning rain so it seemed appropriate.
Making some chicken soup today; yesterday was cool and cloudy so the soup sounded like a good thing to have on hand.
