Lazy 3-day weekend poll ~ open thread, mid-July 2026

Posted by Robin on 18 July 2026 14 Comments

It's the third weekend in July, and we're marking the occasion with our same old open thread poll.

Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the last fragrance you tried that met or exceeded your expectations, the AQI in your area, whatever.

Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Note: top image is Dear friends, i wish you all a beautiful spring with flowers and sun and rainy days 🙂 [cropped] by Magdalena Roeseler at flickr; some rights reserved.

    NOT a SOTD post yet – –

I just saw a new extrait Neith by Neela Vermeire. As of right now, it shows up as $415 at LuckyScent or $6.92 per mL. If anyone is interested, I will buy a bottle and it will come to ~ $42 per 5 mL, including shipping & handling. I will split up to 35mL. Please email me if interested and I will do a final tally by Monday. Thanks.

    Happy weekend!
I am still celebrating the 90’s with another EL favourite, Tuscany Per Donna (1992). It might be stormy and raining today but I am smelling like warm sunshine and ready for a getaway.
Last song I’m sharing from the 90’s is Vanessa Williams’ Save The Best For Last. Enjoy!

Air quality today has finally improved, we are down to moderate risk!

There were a few perfume yawns:
D&G Your Devotion Intense – Didn’t get the promised melon milk. Just perfumey mall scent. Smell and forget.
JM Sea Salt & Bergamot – Very weak and airy. I will stick with Wood Sage & Sea Salt for my salty fix.
What met my expectations was TF Toarmina Orange. Very realistic citrus, with a little bitterness. Refreshing and bright. The only downside is the weak staying power.

Tuscany Donna is a beauty. I have 3 bottles of the old stuff, way too many. It reminds me a lot of Laura Biagiotti’s Venezia. Both are d/c in their original formulas now. Ciao bellas!

SOTD is the last dregs of my Devotion travel spray. Thunk! 🗑️

I ventured out into the Realm of Damnation yesterday, ie: out doors. I made an excursion into BBW, among other places, and picked up a shower gel and body cream in Almond Croissant, which is delicious if you like a buttery, sweet gourmand. I don’t know if this is a newer scent or not, but it’s new to me. It seems almost too sweet right out of the packaging but settles down nicely once applied. The scent doesn’t really linger very long so I can’t imagine it would interfere with any perfume choice. Also picked up a three wick candle in the “A Day At The Cafe” which is “cold brewed coffee, frothed milk, and sweet caramel syrup.” Quite nice and has scented my little studio perfectly. After running around sweating, I made a huge bowl of doctored up boxed pasta salad which is cool, light, and refreshing. T-Rex was good enough to act as outfielder and catch anything that jumped off the countertop while being prepped. What a great helper she is! 🙃

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Yes omg Almond Croissant is so good!! I almost bought them too but had to pull myself away because I have enough products to last a century.

We call ours “the vaccuum.” Same idea. Recently made short work of some canned black beans my husband spilled all over the linoleum. We did keep her outside for a few hours afterward out of an excess of caution but all was well and she was not fume-y..

Some days you just want a thwack in the face with a big bunch of roses, or at least I do, and so I’m in Etat Libre d’Orange Eau de Protection, from way back when it still had Rossy de Palma’s name attached to it. I love a dark rose and this fits the bill.

Pyramus, that is a great dark rose with a few thorns in it and you smell great! I know this one thanks to a very generous NSTer.
Post morning run, I’m wearing Fragonard Patchouli, which is a light EdT that wears like a ‘patchouli cologne’ instead of a dank or heavy or amber/vanilla infused patchouli. In our heat, a light clean citrusy patchouli cologne fits the bill perfectly, though come winter I’ll be looking for heavier hitters. Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

I’m enjoying my usual lazy start to Sunday morning, but the mountain of dishes in the kitchen is starting to weigh on me – some action will be needed soon.
Post-shower, I’m thinking of about something warm and ambery, possibly the extremely powerful Ambra from Omnia Profumi, it’s a commitment – one spray lasts forever!

You will smell amazing, and I chuckle to see that you, being in the Antipodes, are seeking the exact opposite of what I am craving in heatwave L.A.

I’m continuing to wear L’Artisan Parfumeur from the 90’s in another groundbreaking Olivia Giacobetti fragrance, from 1994, Premier Figuier. It’s so perfect for the 3rd week in July☀️

    Lost Cherry 🍒 Tom Ford
Out and about today with fancy makeup, Gucci lippy and blush and some TF eyeshadow.

Feeling like 💩 , I bought some home items from a shop in Texas. When I hadn’t heard back from them, I left a nasty voicemail expressing my dissatisfaction with their poor customer service. I tried calling and emailing them, but there was no response. Then, I read the newspaper and realized that Texas was experiencing flooding. “Texas Flood” by Stevie T. Vaughn as my song of the day.
