Wednesday scent of the day 6/3

Posted by Robin on 3 June 2026 91 Comments

It's Wednesday and World Bicycle Day. RIP Peabo Bryson. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Bois 1920 Cannabis Fruttata.

Reminder: on 6/5, wear a fragrance with eucalyptus, if you have one. Suggested by Kanuka.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll occasionally manage to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m enjoying the SMN posts, Lovestosmellgood. I had their mimosa scent years ago. My brother really loved it so I gave it to him.

I’m in the lingering traces of Deixis this morning and heading out for a dog walk in the park, then will rethink the days scent.

RIP 60 Minutes. I watched and learned so much from this program all through my growing up years with my dad who was a long time news hound, ever curious about world events long before CNN or any other 24/7 news channel. Death of an American Icon. 🇺🇸 ☠️

Also, for anyone who is a die hard CP fan, I was in BBW yesterday and they have what I think is a new-ish release of eucalyptus body wash, lotion, and mist. I sampled and it’s nice! There’s still time to be compliant before Friday! It’s not the “stress relief” range of eucalyptus and spearmint but an altogether different item:

    Good morning NST!
I’m wearing a custom fragrance called Santal Safavieh from a Persian-American perfumer friend of mine that contains Mysore sandalwood, rose, & spices. It is beautiful & makes me think of her and the 4,000 year old advanced Persian culture that flourished back when Northern Europeans were living shivering bare sustenance lives. The Persians I know are wonderful and I am so sorry their country is embroiled in war and suffering under a malign autocratic theocracy. I think a lot about how the ‘cradle of civilization’ has become a cradle of misery for many people in the Middle East and how the world is much poorer for this.

I am wearing Room 1015 Sweet Leaf. Its full pyramid:

    Head Note: Grapefruit, Eucalyptus
Heart Note: Cannabis, Angelica Root, Turpentine
Base Note: Jasmine, Cashmeran Wood, Patchouli

Noticeable euclayptus on a piece of paper, mostly cannabis on my skin. I would like to smell more euclyptus on my skin, but no. Also, does not stay long on me.

Overall: I am a bit meh about it. Green, chill, quiet.

Oh god – I missed your SOTD. I have a sample of Cannabis Fruttata. When I first wore it in late Febaruary and early March, I I quite liked it. But then I wore it again a few days ago and found something slightly unpleasant about it. So now I am not sure anymore whether I like it or not.
For me, the cannabis note is interesting but tricky – it’s hard to find the right perfume with it.

I’m in my only truly eucalyptus-bearing scent, IA Every Storm a Serenade. The eucalyptus is definitely discernible, humming away behind the spruce, vetiver, ambergris and sea water. An underrated beauty.

Eucalyptus: Atelier Cologne Pacific and a bit of Nicolai Eau de Yuzu. I also resorted to Fragrantica’s search, and it took a bit of scrolling to find options. Fun, though! I had a couple of samples of Eau de Yuzu, but they weren’t really my thing. I may be changing my mind about that.

I’m wearing the wonderful Yard Next Door ( Smell Bent) which is pretty much straight up eucalyptus without any camphor or tea tree notes. It reminds me of a rock climbing holiday back in 1980 when we camped in a dusty gum forest in Queensland for a month. During the night and early mornings you’d hear the thump thump thump of kangaroos moving about, and in the day there were large goannas skulking around and lots of kookaburras . Everything felt close as we were just in small alpine tents, and there would be the latter of leaves and twigs falling on the nylon. There were also small pale scorpions and a few snakes. But the smell of the trees, particularly as the heat rose during the day….the scent shimmered in the air. So beautiful.

It’s real cool today 18C high only, yesterday 19C, in weather what a difference a week can make. This morning Chloe Eau de parfum lumineuse because I found it to my astonishment at the bottom of my letter rack, I recall Lillyjo loves it and I find it pretty indeed and tonight Shalimar MVP which I know Deva wears, my bottle had been neglected.

SOTD = American Perfumer Liz Zorn Mt. Adams EDP

Lovely citrus. I am trying not to buy from the one-off perfumes but sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me. I got this a few years ago and opened it for the first time.

Yesterday was Primary Day in NJ and I was a poll worker. I was pleased with the very small number of participants although the last hour (7-8pm) was quite busy. As such, we were able to finish 2 500-piece puzzles. Once they are modgepodged I will either display them for sale ($1 each, no missing zeros) … the only problem is the person who knows about modgepodging was out yesterday. I left a message earlier today but haven’t gotten a call back as yet. No big deal if they refuse to do it.

In other news, here’s a feel good gift article from the New York Times about something wonderful that happened to a college graduate from Australia. BTW, I do not control the comments section so it is what it is..

No eucalyptus scents here, and so I went with something I hadn’t worn for a long time, Le Labo Poivre 23, the London city exclusive, in the small sized (but still pricey) bottle. I’d wanted this for several years before splurging on it. It’s subtle and somewhat linear, but I do really love it. We’ve had buckets of rain here off and on, and it’s a bit dreary out. Must be nap time.

Unsettled weather again today, with plenty of Lightning Alerts on my phone this afternoon. But heating up rapidly as well. It’s supposed to be near 90 degrees here for the next 3 or 4 days.

SOTD = Glossier You FLEUR EdP, from the Sample Stash. Another flanker that I prefer over the original, which goes full vuvuzela on me. But I don’t think any of the Glossier perfumes I have tried are FBW.

Another beautiful day here but getting warmer each day. Sitting in our historic movie theater waiting for this month’s classic film to begin: the 40th anniversary showing of Ferris Bueller (my, how time flies!). The young organist is about to begin his pre-movie performance on our historic pipe organ.

Yoga earlier today inspired my choice of SOTD: the d/c YR Neonatura Souffle (called Breathe in the USA). Tiare flower, ylang-ylang and jasmine midnotes topped with sunny lemon and orange and resting on a vanilla amber base. But what makes this so special is the spicy ginger note at the very top. Somehow it has a powdery, almost sandy vibe to it and makes me think of meditating on a beach. It is my summer yoga scent and I love it! 🧘‍♀️

Time to go, the music has started 🎶

Glad that you are enjoying lovely weather at the moment.

Do you have any perfumes with a camphor note? Someone here mentioned it as adjacent the other day.

Aurora, I hope you are just waking up and haven’t been up all night.
It’s nice that I haven’t had to complain about the weather lately!
