The daily lemming

Posted by Robin on 7 May 2026 7 Comments

A second set of bookmarks from Aftelier (you can see the first here): "A new set of high-quality scratch-and-sniff bookmarks from renowned perfumer Mandy Aftel―featuring alluring aromas from the cook’s kitchen. Rich with cultural and emotional associations of every kind, fragrances have the power to transport you to a different time and place―and none more than the scents of the kitchen. Following on the runaway success of her original Biblioscents, Mandy Aftel has created a new set of bookmarks scented with four natural essences to make the mouth water: blood orange, tarragon, pink pepper, and nutmeg." $15 at Amazon.

Interesting gift idea! She should put these in our NYPL bookshop

Great idea. Someone should suggest that to her. Also, she knows her audience: smart perfumistas who also read.

Does anyone else remember the scratch and sniff craze from the late 70’s? We’ve come full circle. These look great.

Love scratch and sniff! Many many years ago I came across a children’s book on Ancient Egypt and one page had a scratch and sniff that claimed to be the smell of the embalming process. Sadly it must’ve faded because I couldn’t smell anything and I was (still am) so curious!

That is the problem…the smell doesn’t always last.
