Tuesday scent of the day 4/28

Posted by Robin on 28 April 2026 92 Comments

It's the last Tuesday in April, and the splitmeet is open! It's also the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. Birthdays: Blossom Dearie, Harper Lee, Yves Klein, Alice Waters, Terry Pratchett. What fragrance are you wearing?

I am feeling indecisive this morning and am going to pick something from what ya'll are wearing. Tea at the moment is Cascadia Breakfast from The Jasmine Pearl Tea Co.

Reminder: on 5/1, rabbit rabbit rabbit! It's May. Wear a fragrance that will bring you peace, happiness or good luck for the month.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Serax Carte Blanche teapot (Dutch designer Annebet Philips debuts at Serax with Carte Blanche, a playful coffee and tea collection inspired by cardboard cutouts. She transformed childlike, handmade cardboard shapes into porcelain, preserving their folds and irregular edges, highlighted with hand-painted lines") is $68 at Bloomingdales.

Not sure what I’ll wear yet, it’s that delicious morning dreamtime of trying on different scents in my mind and weighing them to decide which will be the perfect one to fit my day and mood. Do I need armor? Comfort? Do I feel sexy? Introspective? Sporty? But it just might end up being L’Heure Bleue in honor of Yves Klein. Love his blue! I wore LHB the other night and thought, like someone here once said, why do I ever bother wearing anything else, it’s so fine and perfect. But in the same way I don’t want to eat the same thing every day, no matter how scrumptious, (well maybe a few days in a row), I don’t want to wear the same perfume each day. Happy Tuesday NST!

Love that teapot which surprises me because I don’t usually like hard edges but it’s so fun! And the price is just right. 👌🏼

Back in Devotion today because it’s very handy to get to, easy to wear, and straight up pretty. Only thing on my dance card today is to make a vat of Italian sausage, white bean, and spinach soup and divvy it up for a quick grab and heat meal. Temp is predicted to rise to 50F and the sun, which has been very shy these past few days hiding behind the skirts of the clouds like a bashful two year old, MAY make an appearance. NGL, I’m excited. 🙃

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

I agree about the tea set–it’s gorgeous–it looks very Art Deco to me. The only thing is, the handle on the teacup looks like it would be awkward to use. I only drink my coffee from mugs, and don’t drink tea, but what do the real tea-drinkers think about this?

We’re fussy about cup handles Chez G, so we would have to use those cups the Japanese way, by resting the thumb on the rim and two fingers on the base, and ignoring the handle entirely.

It looks uncomfortable to hold, plus I would not look forward to cleaning the tea stains out of the many corners, even though efferdent would take care of most of it. But I love the look!

    GREAT tea set.

Today I’m in Confiture, the first of three scents from the Nobile 1942 set Le Petit Chocolatier, and it is enchanting. It smells like candied fruit and peel dipped in milk chocolate and drizzled with honey. I bought the set blind, which I know is rarely a good idea, but I read a ton of reviews and was certain it would be exactly the sort of thing I love, which it is. A commenter in the NST announcement of its launch noted that it was about $1 per mL, and it still is roughly that, a bargain by anybody’s standards.

I’m currently in a layering of Marissa Zappas Petrichor over Andromeda’s Curse Sea of Trees perfume oil, and it’s a wonderful, surprisingly soothing combination. I’m also fighting off a cold (or something), and discovered last night that an ounce of whisky in a London Fog tea latte is delicious, helped with sleep, and seems to have lessened the cold symptoms.

    Hello.
Sotd is Lush Princess Rosalina from the Super Mario collab. Smells like a very fun, galactic fruity grape soda.
I love my Lush Daddy-O shampoo because the violet scent is intoxicating and it’s great for my light coloured hair but what makes me want to give it up is that the purple stains around and under my nails so everytime after washing my hair my hands look like I am a car mechanic!

Interesting. I thought I had some Daddy O at some point put don’t remember the stains so maybe I am wrong. Does it have that anti-yellowing blue dye?

It does. They say it’s the same type of dye used in salons.

This morning I felt like comparing a couple of my fragrances so I have Stash on my right arm and Mx. on my left. It’s not that they are similar (although both are woody), just interesting to see what my nose notices in each one when having two on to compare. I have a few more groupings on my dresser for the same experiment in the next few days. It makes my geeky little perfume heart happy 🙂 .

I know you’re a camper so I’m wondering if you’ve heard about the DNR closures/limited access to the campgrounds across washington state? One of my favorite spots is Lyre River Campground which I’ve camped at in various seasons throughout the year, but now is only going to be accessible for a very limited part of the year. Also, many completely closing…such a shame. 😢

Yes, I’ve heard. Also very disappointed and sad about it. I think access to and upkeep of our natural areas is so important. For us personally, several of our reservations are in county campgrounds this summer so I am 🤞🏻 .

Like many I really like the teapot set and affordable too. I have a real art-deco teapot which I use as a decoration but it is tarnished at the moment, one more spring cleaning project. Early today as I’ve already chosen my evening scent. This morning YR pure désir de lilas again as their season is so brief alas and as I was reminded by my recent purchase I retrieved from the depth of the cabinet Eau de Balahé got several years ago. It’s an old school vanilla-almond, not much like the pillar but really good nonethess.

Trying Ambre Précieux again and it’s lovely w/ much more oomph today. I first tried it last week when I was coming down w/ a mild cold but thought my sense of smell wasn’t too affected…how wrong I was. 🥸 😆 Beautiful dry and powdery in the opening. I am surprised it came out in 1988?! where have I been? So much sniffing yet we can’t make all the stops. 🚂 😅

I’m late posting as usual on Tuesdays, since I remain commando until after my PT session and then lunch. Now I’m trying another Amouage from my new (just found again) sample box, Enclave, which is a mixed bag. I detected mint, what I thought was rubber (it’s leather I think), cinnamon, and cardamom. It is a lot of mint mint mint–triplemint! Eek. But I need to give it more time. I swear I’m still getting a rubber note.
I’m hoping it calms down soon and that the disparate parts meld together better.

Two more weeks. Then I’ll have a 3-month checkup with my surgeon, to see if he recommends more. I seem to be doing pretty well with range of motion, and so I suspect that the two weeks will suffice. Thank you for asking!

Also, the teapot and tea cups pictured made me think of “Is it Cake?”

We survived last night’s storms but it was a dismal day and night with various warnings and lots of rain. Despite today’s forecast for cloudy skies and just a peek of 🌞, temps are in the mid-60’s, the sky couldn’t be bluer and the sun couldn’t be brighter. You might say that today’s weather is heaven sent🌤️, and that’s what my hand reached for today, vintage HR Heaven Sent. I’ve loved this fragrance since I was a young girl and love it still. I have various editions, all obtained inexpensively, mostly when fragrance purchases were first available via eBay + 1 small bottle I found at an estate sale for $1. So many notes, so well blended , bold at first but softening down to powdery, and with that wonderful hint of oakmoss at the bottom you just can’t get anymore.

Spent a good portion of the day sitting in the backyard swing finishing “Hope Dies Last” for tonight’s book 📖 discussion, a lengthy account of global heroes using their talents and education to do all they can to ensure the survival of our planet during these troubled environmental times. A good one and, yes, it does give one hope!

Wishing hope to all this week!🙏

Wore 4160 Tuesdays Both Sides of Clouds.

We spent some time in the yard today. My hubby put together a chair and side table set for the large patio; it looks great! I planted a few pots; a honeysuckle vine, a few fuschias and something called hummingbird’s lunch. I also planted 2 tomatoes. Plus I started several more rounds of lettuce seed on the weekend and am trying thyme from seed. The hot weather is coming soon!

Thank you, lillyjo! It’s been a slow process but kind of fun to figure it out. I think my hubby finally “gets” my vision, although I probably had a hard time explaining it. We have lots of hardscape in the back yard so I’m trying to layer in pots and different plants to counteract the heat.

Sounds wonderful! There’s nothing like working in the garden to soothe the soul.

Once thyme plants get established, they can come back year after year, depending on what USDA Hardiness Zone you are living in. And they are drought tolerant.

      “Hummingbird’s Lunch” sounds adorable!

It’s also known as a cuphea; (I had to look it up). “Hummingbird’s lunch” got me; I bought 3 of them.

I’m in Delina today, as I was yesterday. I know a lot of people wear this one, but I still like it. Quiet, easy to wear and enjoyable from start to finish.
I packed up my winter clothes this morning, but should have checked the weather report. A cool front is coming in on Saturday night, which I don’t mind in the least!

I have Bath and Bodyworks Covered in Rose’s. It’s supposed to be a copy of Delina. If you like body products, you should check it out.
