Tuesday scent of the day 2/10

Posted by Robin on 10 February 2026 121 Comments

It’s Tuesday, National Umbrella Day and World Pulses Day. Birthdays: Boris Pasternak, Chick Webb, E. L. Konigsburg. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Fendi Theorema, and I could just wear it all week? Tea at the moment is The Art of Tea Cascadia Breakfast brewed with cacao husks and cardamom.

Reminder: on 2/13, we're doing Long Lost Love Friday...wear a beloved fragrance that has been discontinued, or a fragrance that reminds you of a beloved person, pet, possession or place. (Suggested by Old Herbaceous.)

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Marimekko Musta Tamma Teapot ("The Musta Tamma pattern reflects Maija Isola’s recollections of her childhood, when she often imagined that she was running free in the woods together with a big herd of horses. This product celebrates the Year of the Horse and features the New Year stamp on the bottom") is $145 at Olson House.

    Robin, I love today’s teapot! ☕️
I’m using my own teapot with a horse on it and sipping Simpson & Vail tea.

Yesterday I tried both Chanel No. 5 EDP and EDT. I loved them equally, but for different reasons: the EDP lasted longer and really melded with my skin, while the EDT felt more fleeting yet surprisingly more sensual.
Today our house is divided for the Olympics—USA vs. Canada in women’s hockey, a truly heated rivalry. 🏒

I finished Thirst of Love last night and got strong Madame Bovary vibes. I’m about 100 pages from finishing The House of Doors and absolutely loving it. Next up: The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea and Inheritance from Mother.

Today I am pairing Chanel Bois des Îles with the main protagonist Lesley Hamlyn— in the book I am reading The House of Doors—Lesley is composed on the surface but her inner world is very restless -this is how I find “box of eels” polite at first, then slowly revealing depth.

LTSG, wow, beautifully abundant in spirit of fragrance, literature and sport! I too tried to buy the teapot but it’s sold out. Since I bought the YOTH tea, I needed a matching teapot it seemed.

Beautiful teapot, Rbin, and belated congradulations on the 21 anniversary of NST:)

I’m in Fleur de Cassie, for a cold snowy day. I’m so over winter driving and cannot wait till spring. Which is funny cause around here spring driving can also be treacherous lol. At least I smell good.

    Rose Anonyme for the CP!
I know the rose-oud segment is oversaturated, but it’s still a shame it was discontinued. There’s something special about this scent.

I still don’t understand how Atelier Cologne did such a bad job of branding and marketing…they should have had two brands, and Rose Anonyme should have been in the one not called “Cologne”.

I’m starting Long Lost Love week in Tom Ford Violet Blond — how on earth they decided to discontinue this one I’ll never know. Happy to have snagged a big bottle. It’s the reason I have a section of the perfume shelf devoted to fluted bottles. Tea at the moment is a latte.

Sat outside last night, rocking my camp chair, watching the sun set and the stars turn from barely discernible tiny flat pinpoints of light to sparkling 3D disco balls carpeting the black void of the sky like a magic show. So gorgeous! 🌟

I think my perfume ennui may be lifting a bit. This morning I reached into my stash (again!) and came out with Fils de Dieu. It was like meeting an old friend after a long separation. 🥰

Stay safe and cozy, perfume peeps!

Accidental twin! I was looking in my cabinet and thought, oh, hey, I haven’t worn that in a while!

Back when L’Artisan introduced it, it was part of a limited-edition set of three spice-based gourmands in 15-mL sprays: Safran Troublant (saffron and vanilla), Poivre Piquant (white pepper and honey), and Piment Brûlant (red pepper and cocoa). The only one I really liked was Piment Brûlant, and then I wore it so much I got sick of it, but discovered that I liked Safran Troublant so much that I bought a backup bottle just in case, just at the time they were making the switch from the rounded cap to the weighty golden heptagon. It hadn’t been reformulated yet so it’s still fantastic.

I am glad I have full bottles of all 3. I love them all, but I never got the cocoa note from Piment Brulant. For me it has always smelled like fresh green peppers. Still, I enjoy it during summertime. I finished my first bottle of Saffran Troublant long time ago, and I am using my back up bottle now. I will greatly miss it when I am done with it.

Happy 21st birthday for NST, Robin. What an achievement. Thank you. I had an associated idea for a CP which is: What perfume would you give to your 21 year old self? ( You can base your choice on what’s available today).
Nice teapot. Reminds me of the painted Dala horses. Definitely signs of autumn approaching: dark mornings, berries on the hawthorn and holly trees, and leaves turning on the maple. But, in full bloom now are all the Himalayan lilies ( and lots of dahlias) so I’m wearing Vierge de Fer.

It is a lovely teapot, Robin!

The discontinued Shanghai Lily today. I fell hard for TF during this time; to me there were some stunners released.

That was then, this is now.

My friend who is in Kyoto now where it is snowing on the plum blossoms has been tasked with bringing me a bottle of Dior Vanilla Diorama which meets my never ending amber- vanilla path. I have never owned this one.

I was going to go with Guerlain Double Vanille but this one just felt right.

Yesterday I was raving about Chanel Boy from a sample I got as a gift with purchase. Today I wore another gift with purchase sample: Comete. I have several samples now since that’s what Chanel sends with each order right now (well that’s the perfume sample they currently offer).
When I first tried Comete a couple of months back – it’s not that I was disappointed but it smelled different than I had (hoped?) for it to smell. It was much sweeter than I had imagined it to be.
Powdery – which I anticipated from Chanel and hoped for – but very very very sweet.
Today I wore it overall (before it was just one spritz on the wrist) and I absolutely love it. I put it on before 8 am when I left for work and it’s over 8 hours later and I still smell it.
But until 1 or 2 pm I was surrounded by a gorgeous cloud of it, wow when move around I still smell it 8 hours later!!
Lasting power – perfect. Perfect especially since it’s very expensive so that completely checks off.
It turns out I love Comete right along Beige, 1932 or Boy.
It performed absolutely spotless. Beautiful, beautiful fragrance. Special. Yes we had Cherry blossom/iris combo server to us many times before in perfumes but this one is truly special. Meticulous detailing in the notes.
It’s funny because to me Boy smells like a baby blue perfume and Comete smells like baby pink.
They could sell a fragrance duo: Boy and Comete in one set. Boy is truly unisex (and not masculine just unisex!) but Comete is definitely feminine. But I loved every second of it. I am not quite ready for the next big fragrance purchase yet (I consider buying a perfume that costs over $250 to be a big purchase) but when I finally am ready I will completely not know whether to get Boy or Comete first.

SotD is JOVOY Sans un Mot. A lovely person here gifted me a bottle with a little bit left in it, saying she loved it and was going to buy another bottle. I hope she did, because the next bottle I bought smelled so sadly unlike the first. Reformulation strikes again, greedy thief!
The fragrance is not my usual thing, a big powder bomb, but to me, it was a very sexy French powderbomb. I still have a few drops left; c’est la vie, hmm?

What joy it was to open my eyes this morning to 37 degree temps! 👏 It got up to 48 degrees today, and I’ve just returned from enjoying some bird-watching 🐦‍⬛from my covered backyard glider swing, something I haven’t done in ages! Yesterday I went for a dip in our hot tub, something I also hadn’t done for several weeks. Little by little . . . 🌱

Sticking with vintage again today in my SOTD, JCB Ombre Rose from the early 1980’s, a lovely powdery, aldehydic floral. (I also have and love the Ombre Bleue and the Ombre Violette Menthe.). The Ombre series has some of the prettiest bottles in the perfume world.

Relaxing with a cup of cranberry-hibiscus tea and looking forward to Finding Your Roots tonight – as a history lover and student of my own genealogy, it’s one of my favorite PBS programs. Happy evening to all! 🌃

You and I were temperature twins today. It’s cooling off out here, so warmer weather might be headed towards the east.

Yes, we’re happy to send you our cold temps and we’re even happier to receive your warm temps. And 😻😽😺 are thrilled to go out onto the screened porch for longer than 2 minutes and not worry that their paws will freeze!

I’m in a tiny spritz of Antonia’s Flowers, perhaps the origin of my obsession with fragrance. The bottle I have has gone off to a great degree but I can still smell the hidden beauty. And hopefully, the promised “redux” will be coming soon…💗

Fingers crossed! Tiempe Passate is one of my (many) regrets, tho not likely I’d buy it now. But it was a great brand.

I should have mentioned that Antonia’s Flowers (the brand) is selling Tiempe Passate already and promising to re-release Antonia’s Flowers (the fragrance). TP isn’t cheap, but so little is these days😕

How unexpected! Thanks for the news, allo. I had a bottle of Tiempe Passate once upon a time; it was a beautiful fragrance – and bottle.

Oh thank you allo! But no, I don’t need so much. If they come out with a 10 ml spray I will buy it, but I would regret even 60 ml!

    sotd = Vanille Galante

I smell like a boozy banana! 🍌🥃 Vanilla often smells like banana to me. I love both. ❤️ Both vanilla and banana that is, not so much the booze. 😁

    Cute teapot!

Seasonal weather here today. It dropped 25 degrees from yesterday. One of the Denver-area meteorologists mentioned this morning that roughly half of the winter days so far have had high temperatures above 60 degrees. Not the warmest on record yet, but mighty close.

SOTD = Jo Malone Rose Amber Cologne. So glad I have this one! Pairing it with The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Body Yogurt.

        We were rose twins today!

I’m kind of bummed out that I couldn’t get the 2 other rose perfumes that JM released at the same time. But they seem to bring back items from their archived catalog ever so often. Maybe you will have another chance at Rose Amber?

To my fellow Baseball fans.. I am super excited to see that Justin Verlander will be pitching for Detroit this season! Woo and Hoo!
Sotd is PoaL. I did 4 sprays and gassed myself out this morning, but I am smelling mighty fine.
