Tuesday scent of the day 1/13

Posted by Robin on 13 January 2026 117 Comments

It's Tuesday, National Korean American Day and Public Radio Broadcasting Day. If you're in the Northern Hemisphere, there are 66 days to go until spring. RIP Bob Weir. What fragrance are you wearing?

I'm in Tauerville Rose Flash. Tea at the moment is Tali's Masala Chai from Art of Tea.

Reminder: 1/16 is National Nothing Day. Take a break and wear what you want.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2026, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Note: the Billy Tall Teapot ("Like a crisp white shirt in your wardrobe, this teapot is an essential in your teaware collection. It’s versatile, goes with everything and is gratifying to brew with. It’s crafted from porcelain with creamy soft colours and a doughnut-like high shine glaze") in Biscuit is $65 at T2.

    Wearing Bond No.9 New Haarlem.

On my second cup of coffee and an eggnog donut.
    Happy Tuesday! ☕️

I got them from the supermarket. They are ok, no too sweet. All eggnog stuff is 80% off now.

My local supermarket sells packs of 4 starting in November. I still prefer the cider and pumpkin ones.

    Hello.
    Sotd is Kelly Caleche edp.
I finally caved and bought the Balenciaga perfume discovery box (10x2ml). To my pleasant surprise, all the scents were wearable! No duds! My favourite is Le Dix. Now I am thinking about the 10x10ml mini set because they are so darn cute or really commit to a FB of Le Dix.

I’m in Oriza Legrand Horizon this morning. There is something in the top notes that makes me think of those little almonds with the pastel-colored hard-candy coating.

Jordan almonds — why couldn’t I think of that name!? I’ve never tried any of the SHLs, but have been tempted by several of their gorgeous bottles. 😍

You smell marvelous. I have always loved those, but had to stop eating them for fear of breaking my crowns. That sugar coating is too darn hard. For awhile, Trader Joe’s had some softer ones from Italy that I scarfed down (I’m being healthy, it’s nuts!) but they seem to have lost their supplier.

One summer when we were kids, my sister and I had jobs packing candy (like Lucy and Ethel).
We packed chocolates, gold wrapped chocolate coins and eventually Jordan Almonds into their little net bags for weddings.
Needless to say there are no Jordan Almonds for us after that experience. EVER.

Update on the hockey romance books: while I’m very much enjoying the ride, I have to admit — the writing itself is… not great 😅. Still, there’s something undeniably addictive about it, and I’m holding out hope that the second book (and the HBO show!) are much better and truly live up to all the hype.
This morning started on a cozy note with a cup of Matin Parisien by Mariage Frères.

I’m clearly on a Chanel kick lately.. I’m not sure if it’s the cold weather or just a need for a little extra confidence, but perfume has been my quiet armor. For volunteering today, I’m wearing Chanel No. 5 L’Eau with a few drops of the parfum ✨. When did they stop making the pure parfum?

I am not fully sure if they discontinued the parfum but I haven’t seen in sold in at least a year. I am hoping that it is back in stock soon and when Sephora has their spring sale event.

Nothing wrong with a Chanel kick 😆 On the writing, the Fifty Shades books were similar, like the writer was only writing with a view to selling the movie rights.

Oh, the Fifty Shades of Grey books, I was so into a particular scene in one of those books that I completely missed my stop on the metro and ended up somewhere else. Imagining explaining that to one’s boss?

Perfume as …. Quiet armor. 🩷 that. And you smell beautiful LTSG.

As for H🔥R, the stars presented at the Golden Globes and the producers had fighters from the UFC Ultimate Foghting Championship come out on stage first as security. You know in case Julia Roberts or Timothée Chalamet tried to tackle th on stage. 😆.

Have been listening to a hockey podcast (a little like Taylor going to Travis’s football games made many girls want to watch football) called Empty Netters. They’re talking about the show and not only from a hockey perspective. I’m intrigued despite hockey being one of the few televised sports I don’t usually enjoy watching!(I will say it’s.much better in person like soccer/football where the screen doesn’t do the action justice).

“Empty Netters” — 🤣 Some of the most exciting hockey to watch is that desperate, clutch situation near the end of a tied game where the goalie is pulled and replaced by another attacker. I’ve seen it work spectacularly, and fail equally spectacularly.

I’m wearing a small spray of La Ravissante today. I can recognize that it’s a very sweet scent, but the pomegranate note makes it feel piquant and juicy in a way that I just love! No need to ravish anyone since I’m just going to the vet with my aged and increasingly skinny cat Jet. And after that, to see the Park Chan Wook movie for the 2nd time, this one with a friend who is curious about it and hasn’t ever seen any of his films. I warned her it has some violent scenes…. hope they won’t be too much for her!
The Nothing Day project has one rather obvious way to comply… ha ha!

Went to a late Epiphany party at my sister’s house over the weekend. She made the traditional Epiphany French galette (Rosca de Reyes in Spanish) and had me and a few friends over. So yummy!! Somehow talk went to perfume. Their moms had worn White Shoulders, Chanel No. 5, & Heaven Scent. They hadn’t smelled any of them in years. Now I shall go through my bottles to see if I have any vintage ones to share with them. I know I have No. 5. I might have minis of the others. One of the friends said she went out and bought a bottle of Diptyque Philosykos after smelling it on my sister, who was wearing a bottle I gave her. What do you call an enabler once removed?

SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays St. Paul Cathedral Library

Oy! So good! This is the first one in the 4160 Tuesdays January Joy Box for 2026. I AM behind but hey, no worries as I have 5 more to go. This one smells of amber, vanilla, leather and old books.

This “in other news” is not so pleasant so if you have a tendency to be, let’s say, skeeved out with the written word, now is the time to say bye-bye, at least for today.

    Ready?

    Ready?

I read The New York Post more regularly than The New York Times. Perhaps it is the digest-like format or maybe it’s just in more of devices. Did you know that picking boogers may cause Alzheimer’s? I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve done mining and it’s because I don’t double count. Anyway, the linked article talks about the why. Have fun reading if you can access it …

A beautiful winter day here in Los Angeles – chilly morning in the 40s, but warming up to the 70s.

I’m in 21 Conduit St by Jovoy, a citrusy, woody fougère that’s perfectly unisex, to my nose. Lavender, grapefruit, rhubarb, almond, vetiver… just lovely.

I can add it to my (very short) list of perfumes that have garnered compliments. I was picking up some photos from a printing house, and woman approached me, wanting to know what fragrance I was wearing. She was absolutely besotted, and had to know where she could buy it. (The Scent Bar in Hollywood owes me one.)

    Happy Tuesday, all!

Rhubarb, what an unusual note in that combo of scents. A compliment + a gorgeous day = a very happy Tuesday!

sotd = Chanel No. 5 esp

No. 5 always makes me smile and take a deep breath when it wafts around me. ☺️

I habitually put the FB in my bag to revisit it during the day when the urge strikes. So pretty. ♥️

Yes, No. 5 edp is my favorite, though the vintage parfum I smelled over 10 years ago will always be the ultimate No. 5 for me. 🥰

and I do love to smell the edt, but can’t wear it, it’s the No. 5 my mother wore when I was a child.

It’s an incredible 52 degrees here right now with blue skies and bright 🌞. I don’t ever remember any January day when there wasn’t a patch of frost, snow or ice somewhere but none to be found today. The grass is green and it feels like mid-March with spring right around the corner. It’s all changing very soon back to full winter with frost, snow and ice. Truly bizarre!

I went to an interesting new program at my library today, Mindful Movement, a combination of meditation, qigong, and yoga. SOTD is YSL Nu edp, just a tiny spritz for the class but more when I got home. I ❤️ this smoky, woody incense scent (and its really cool bottle); it’s my winter yoga fragrance.

Sending some of my 🌞 to shine down on all of you!

Springlike temperatures here as well. I think it was 61 here? But terrible snowpack conditions.

I worked late last night, and I couldn’t fall asleep until 3a.m. I still had to get up early, and felt out of it all day. I just colored my hair and took a shower, so I am feeling a bit better. I am wearing cozy vanilla with Dolce and Gabbana The One tonight.

It’s quite late here, this morning LPRN Couture, a favorite modern chypre which Lillyjo enjoys too, I think and tonight Mystic incense, one of my three sweetened incenses, my only merchant of Venice.

Posting late today. I spent 90 minutes at the DMV this afternoon to get tags for my license plates. Also got a data breach letter in the mail. It’s been an interesting day for sure.

SOTD = Demeter Hyacinth. The hyacinth lovers here really should try this one. It’s gorgeous! Smells true to life, too.

And I arrived before most of the afternoon crowd did. It was much busier when I left around 3:15.

You must be relieved to finally get those tags, 90 minutes!

Love hyacinth in perfume, thanks for recommending the Demeter, I didn’t know they had one. Grand amour is a favorite hyacinth.

Walk ins get lower priority at the DMV here than people who have previously made appointments online. But it’s an extra step that I couldn’t be bothered with. 🤪

The Demeter is well worth checking out. It’s so pretty!

Thanks! In Colorado, you just get plates once, then there are stickers every year to indicate that you are current on the plate registration.
