It's the first weekend of July, and we're watching summer fly by (as always!) with our usual open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the next fragrance you'll be needing in a decant, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

ps I am heading home from my quick beach trip today. I am way behind on comments and will catch up over the weekend!
Another typical July day in the Maritimes, gonna be a high of 25ºC, humidex 29ºC (anyone who thinks Canada is basically Arctic tundra really should visit in the summer). I’m in one of my favourite summer wears, 4711 Acqua Colonia Lavender & Thyme, the best of the entire range as far as I’m concerned (opinions differ!). Light, cologney herbal lavender, so refreshing.
Whoever owns the 4711 brand these days has done an excellent job of expanding/modernizing this iconic fragrance. The original remains, but the architecture of 4711 is so simple and sound that almost anything can be added in a flanker and if done right, it will smell good.
Agree, they’ve really managed to stay reasonably relevant.
I loved the Lemon & Ginger Acqua Colonia. I need to pick up a smallish bottle if the original 4711 before summer is over. I don’t need 600ml or whatever the large-sized bottle is!
That’s a warm day there! I almost choked on my tea with Arctic tundra 😄
Going to be hot and humid for the next couple days. I am happy with last month’s thunks that I forgot to report. I thunked a dabbed of Miss Dior extrait and the Lyric hand cream and body wash along with a bottle of vintage BaV. This month, I have plans to thunk a vintage no 5 extrait since there is only 1 or 2 wearings left of it. Today is Clinique Happy.
Twins! Thanks for the inspiration for my SotD.😀
Happy is always a good choice!
Hi Dawn – you smell delightfully Summery! AND, those are some excellent thunks! I have a dab of Miss Dior extrait that needs a thunk. I enjoyed and finished some Lyric hand cream a while back, but as a non-rose person, I was not inspired to seek more. BaV is in the hoard, but I’d say more for reference. It wears me – but I love it for curling up on the couch with a movie or a book.
Ah, yes, BaV wears me as well, perhaps I should have the Eau de cologne instead of the EDT and PdT. Same thing with Paloma Picasso.
Ha, I have not taken Paloma Picasso out for many moons – must try it again soon, as I have two partial, vintage bottles lurking in the hoard.
Please pardon my butting in – I bought a vintage bottle of the edp last fall, probably from the 90s. It smells SO good, de-lurk yours and enjoy!
Happy weekend!
Sotd is LV Apogée. Gentle lily of the valley scent, nothing exciting. All I can say is that I’m perfumed?
I am finally reporting back on the Aesop mouthwash I mentioned quite a while back. I can’t use mouthwashes with alcohol because they make my mouth…(graphic description, sorry!) peel. Yes, not unlike being scalded. This being alcohol-free I hoped will be gentler and luckily it is, although it still stings a little. The scent is said to be mint, cloves and anise. I think that’s accurate. It starts off very minty with a bit of spiciness from the cloves. After you spit it out and a few minutes later, you will be left with a liquorice-like finish of anise. Quite delightful really.
Sounds great. I have really enjoyed the Aesop products I’ve bought (hand cream, bath gel), as well as the fragrances. To me, they are like 21st century Avedas in their vibe.
I used to love Aveda products but better and cheaper products have come into the market. That being said, I still go to their hair salons for cuts etc though.
I recently found out that any mouthwashes that contain sodium lauryl sulfate will cause the same problem for me. It’s not fun.
Seriously! There are toothpastes that will do that too! It really blows.
Fortunately, I haven’t had any problems with toothpaste. But my brother has, poor guy.
Heading to Vienna, Salzburg and Budapest in a week. Would love any recommendations for perfume brands/shops over there that I should visit!
Wearing a lot of Dior’s Escale a Portofino these days now that summer is in full swing. This is my favorite citrus scent to date.
Friends for dinner tonight, making a salmon curry dish. It’s been a while since we’ve entertained so I am looking forward to it.
Happy Saturday to all!
Wow, safe travels! And have fun!😀
Thank you!
Not sure if it’s up your alley but I believe the very good leather cologne Knize 10 is from a very classic and old men’s haberdashery in Vienna.
https://knize.at/en/collections/herrendufte
Interesting! Will see if that’s convenient and check it out.
You should visit all the old cafes in Vienna and see the horse show, the library, and the palace. Vienna is a place I Love LOVe! I didn’t even think about perfume when I was there…I thought I was in a fairytale..
Yay! Thank you for these ideas!
What a great trip! I’m hoping to do some sniffing in Munich and Berlin in a few weeks.
I have no direct experience with the shop or Vienna, but if I were visiting I would make a point to check out the WienerBlut boutique. Explore them at wienerblut dot at
Schönbrunner Str. 22, 1050 Wien
Good one!
It sounds like a wonderful dinner.
Bon voyage – what a great trip, especially Budapest.
:))
Happy trails, and enjoy your European adventure!
Thank you!
Copying Dawn in Clinique Happy. Needed something easy after yesterday’s sample that seemed to wear me.
It’s another hot one today.🥵 I have a couple of errands to run before the rain shows up.
Had a nice FaceTime visit with gradtowngirl this morning. I haven’t seen her in person since March! I miss her.🥺 We’re both hoping she can come home for an extended visit next month.🤞
She’s not doing the camp this year, right? Does she have a different summer job?
Right, she has a campus job doing research.
Little sister (madtownteen) is there for her second summer as staff- first summer ever without big brother or sister there!- and loving it.😀
Happy is good for this weather!
I agree!🌞🧡
You smell, well, Happy! Nice to hear madtownteen is standing tall on her own. 🙂
Enjoying my lavender macarons from the farmers market with 34 Dyptique.
Lavender Macaron sounds like the name of a perfume I’d buy. Smelling great in 34 Diptyque, CM!
Agree!!
😂
Me too! I love both almond and lavender as notes
Lavender macarons sound great! I made ice cream infused with lavender and rose with my new machine and it turned out really great!!
Oooooo!!!!! That sounds yummy!!!!! With rose water? Maybe you can also try orange blossom?🌸
I infused the milk with lavender and dried rosebuds and added also some rose water! Next time i will try with orange blossom!!
Hi fragrant friends,
Found a LE bottle of Tam Dao in the back of the vault. Almost full, that’s the SOTD.
Searching for a really good mobile car detailing and doing chores.
Have a good Saturday, all!
Ooh, nice find! Is that the 30 ml bottle with the orange hue? I had one of those. Tam Dao has been one of only a few perfumes I’ve replaced. Went with the 50 ml the next time.😅 You smell great!
That’s the one! I didn’t see it behind a larger bottle.
Hope you find a good detailing group. Car washing was one of our “character building” exercises as children. My Dad was in sales, wanted his car spotless and shiny for clients, and didn’t want to crawl around scrubbing the hub caps, so Sis and I were enlisted (think Tom Sawyer painting the fence). Though such moments made me want clean cars, it’s getting to the point that I don’t want to crawl around scrubbing hub caps either!
My dad was the same, MossyBerry!
My sister and I and the wood sided station wagons. We hated it, but Dad would spray us off with the hose when we were done and there was fun to be had after that.
Good memories!
Your post made me smile, as my recent HS grad grandson and his friends formed a car-detailing business this summer and in talking to him yesterday I was really impressed with the services they offer. He’s very hard-working, shall I send him over?😄
After seeing the Chanel Gabrielle Primer advertised the other day, I decided to wear Gabrielle Body Cream and Eau de Parfum. There is not really anything unique about this fragrance, but I find it very pretty.
I couldn’t think of anything I needed a decant of until lillyjo reminded me yesterday of Dame’s 4th of July freebie. I have been wanting to try Strawberry Fool so now will be my chance. Thanks, lillyjo😉
Sometimes pretty hits the spot.
I got the email for the freebie too, but nothing offered really appealed to me.🤷♀️ You’ll have to report back on the strawberry fool. I HAVE been anxious to try his Sonoran Desert Musk that he’s had advertised on his website as coming soon for over a year now!
I love a report on Strawberry Fool, too! And that musk does sound good.
The Dame offer was totally free (including shipping), I thought it was a nice opportunity to try something new.
Please tell me about the freebie. I see some things on sale that are tempting.
Sorry, Joe the freebie was just for yesterday. It was a small body cream and a 2.6 ml spray. They are still on sale though for $11.50 rather than the original price of $17.50.
I also ordered the Strawberry Fool yesterday. Looking forward to it. I’ve participated each year and think it’s so nice of Jeffrey to do this.
Yes, it’s very nice of him. I have always had quality service and have written him a few times with a quick response.
Ditto!🙏
Hi Robin! Hope you’re well and enjoying your weekend.
I’m in old dc classic Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel and about to take a drive up the Delaware River for lunch on this lovely, sunny, July 5. I hope everyone has a nice one!
Hey Joe, so nice to see you and sorry I’m so late to respond, was on vacation for a few days and just catching up. Hope you are having a great summer!
Started the morning at the farmers market, and my haul bag is overflowing—peak season means I couldn’t resist the berries, tomatoes, and fairy eggplants
Currently, I smell like someone you would not want to hug: a mix of horse, sunblock, and the last few sprays of my beloved OG Omnia (thanks to the recent mention of Omnia Amethyste for nudging me to pull it back out).
Attending a ballet this weekend and then dinner with a friend.✨
Off to shower off this smell and I will report back with my SOTD
I love those little eggplants! A Chinese restaurant near where I used to work made some dish with them that makes me 🤤 just thinking about it.
I use them in a potato/eggplant curry
Ended up just leaving Omnia on my skin for my SOTD
Pre- and Post-shower, Amouage Opus III. Insolence’s elegant cousin, it is less sweet and spicier. Having a quiet day inside with the AC and re-reading The Hobbit. The garden has reached the point where it needs to take over and GROW. Tomatoes are struggling for me, and I’ve never faced that before. Ongoing happiness is our new kitten. He is so cute and he and our other cat are getting along great and tussling and chasing and curling up together even in this hot weather.
You smell great, Opus III is lovely, my only Opus, it has a vintage quality.
III is my only Opus FB, though I do have some decants of the others. Do you find it similar to Insolence? Good point that it has that vintage vibe; that’s part of what separates it from Insolence which does not seem vintage, though it does have a lingering drydown. I am a big fan of Insolence BTW.
They are both pretty full of violet, I agree Insolence is more modern, I favor the brasher, fruitier edt for some reason.
Good news on the kitten! Our garden (except for the weeds, of course) is suffering from lack of attention from us (due to the yucky weather). It’s been too hot for all of us. Including the plants, probably our worst season in awhile.
Please keep reporting on the kitties!!! Love hearing that they get along 😻
ITA with chocolatemarzipan8: please continue with kitteh updates! Very pleased to hear they are getting along.
We’ve done some Sunday morning housework and are thinking about wrapping up warmly to go out for a walk and coffee. I’m going to conjure up hot places with ELdO’s Spice Must Flow.
I should have done Sunday morning housework but I didn’t!
I wish I could send you some of our heat and humidity!
I am wearing Salome (I brought out a big gun!) because Finnair canceled the last flight of my trip to Lithuania and I am stuck in on-hold hell. I’ve talked to American Airlines, where I booked the flights codeshared with Finnair. American sent me to Finnair, Finnair has sent me back to American, and I am huffing my wrists in an attempt to keep calm and not curse at the customer service agents. But the ones I have talked to so far seem either lazy or clueless. Thankfully the trip isn’t for two months.
Oh no! I hope you get a satisfactory resolution!
I feel your pain and hope you’re able to resolve the problem quickly.
2 years ago, we were in Paris and at 5pm on our last night, we received a text saying that our flight from Paris to London was cancelled. When we called British Air, they said that Alaska owned the ticket and when we called Alaska, they told us no, that BA owned the ticket. Needless to say, after a few rounds of this, all the seats on any other flight from Paris to London were full. After talking (finally!) to a very nice and apologetic Alaska rep, we concluded that the easiest way to deal with it was to take the Eurostar to Healthrow where were able to get on our connecting flight to Seattle. All of these are very first world problems but frustrating none the less.
Ugh, good luck!
Wearing Chanel No. 19 edt. Yesterday I somehow missed reporting my sotd, which was Lancome O de Lancome (for the note of basil).
I’m making raspberry ice cream today. For some reason I like to complicate things and try to pull ingredients from 2 or 3 recipes; I guess it’s the Virgo trait of always looking for perfection.
Happy Saturday everyone.
I bet this ice-cream is going to be delicious.
I just blended it in the ice-cream maker. It’s pretty good (if I don’t say so myself). I had a near miss though, I first inserted the mixing paddle upside down. Thankfully I was able to correct it. I barely use it so it wasn’t obvious that it was wrong!
First time I used it few years ago I had a disaster because I didn’t start the machine before adding the mixture. I probably didn’t read the instructions. The mixture was rock solid immediately and couldn’t blend. So I had to wait til it unthawed, then wash and refreeze the mixing bowl, then finally re-blend it. You’d think I wasn’t supposed to make ice cream, ever!
So many adventures with the ice-cream maker but a few more experiences and you will end up a pro.
Fellow Virgo here. Yes, that sounds familiar, lol. I also love No. 19 edt! Is that a Virgo thing, I wonder?
Might be! I’m not officially a Virgo, but my moon and rising signs are both Virgo, and I adore 19 EDT. With a Pisces sun sign, that makes me a dreamy perfectionist, I guess.
Here’s something I found that explains us Virgos!
https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/virgo-sun-sign-personality-traits-200133676.html
2 nectarines today. Continuing basil, finally Eau de Rochas which some of you wore earlier in the week, this one feels always right in summer and tonight Imogen Rose which apparently has basil but is mostly a powdery rose, I think it was the first Lush full bottle I ever bought, the 30ml all black bottle.
Basil & nectarine would make a good fragrance!
Ah, yes, that would be a good combo.
Sotd Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine.
Happy weekend! 🌻
Happy weekend to you pl67!
Thank you, Robin!
Hope you had a great weekend, PL67!
Thank you, Jalapeno! It was nice and relaxing.
SOTD is London Linden, by 4160 Tuesdays. It’s such a nice summer scent! I got it this spring at the Barnes Fragrance Fair, which was SO much fun.
Fragrance fair sounds delightful
Meyer’s Hand Soap in Basil is nice. I love the smell of Basil but the only fragrance I have with this note is Boucheron and I can’t seem to detect it.
That is a good hand soap. Also loved Method Basil dish soap but it’s become hard to find, or they don’t make it anymore.
Oh! Method! I interpreted that as Meyers hence my comment ⬇️ below. You can delete that comment.
I did delete it, but thank you anyway!!
Spending a quiet weekend at home, waiting for my son to fly in for a visit. I will be working most of the time he is here but we can get some time together in the evenings. Unseasonably cool and rainy, which I would love, aside from feeling heartsick about the people lost in the flooding about 80 miles north of here, around Kerrville, TX.
Wearing a sample of Jovoy La Liturge des Heures. Sometimes I crave incense even in the summer. This one might be redundant in my collection, since I already have Avignon, Cardinal and Kyoto. I think this is most similar to Avignon.
Hope you have a lovely visit with your son!
The news from the flood is incredible. I have friends who own a house there but had no damage. I can’t imagine being a Camp Mystic parent 🙁
Going to be heading out to get some ice-cream then later on, go see some fireworks tonight. Decided to drag out and wear Une Rose Vermeille from Andy Tauer. Currently it’s discontinued and it truly does have the staying power of nuclear waste. It barely beats out Ubar.
Hoe the fireworks were fun Dawn! Ice cream is always fun 🙂
Such a bummer that Une Rose Vermeille was discontinued. It’s beautiful.
It’s the start of a heatwave here, and I am wearing Mediterraneo for it’s lemony goodness.
Yesterday’s airline mess was resolved so strangely! Both FinnAir and American told me that the next flight (after my canceled one) was fully booked. I went to the FinnAir website, bought a ticket, and the seating chart showed only 3 seats reserved, probably people in the same pickle as I was. So there was a glitch somewhere that made the flight look un-bookable to the customer service agents. But I have a ticket and a seat now, and a four hour layover in Helsinki. I am pleased it worked out.
Yay!💃
Glad it worked out!
So glad to know this – thanks for the story, as it gives some idea of work-arounds for such times!
Glad everything worked out for you.
We had an airline adventure when we were in the middle of traveling somewhere. We stopped in Las Vegas for a connection. Problem was the connecting flight had already left! You can imagine the irate people (including me!) at the gate that we were supposed to leave from. They did finally get us all rerouted on another plane late that night, hours later.
Happy to hear that your airline misadventure got worked out! What a pain.
I’m in the middle of going through 2 more basement boxes.
The first one was old tax papers ( from the 90’s!) Now I am doing a box of photographs. I’m pitching pretty much everything that my kid’s won’t recognize. Any super old pictures I am giving to my brother.
Sotd is Lolita Lempicka edp.
Yay for you, lillyjo. This is my world – we recently sent such old records to shred/recycle places, too.
I’ve been trying to do 2 boxes/bags a week. It’s a daunting task. I have to open everything just in case I put something important in an unimportant envelope. Lol. I so wish young lillyjo would have been organized.
I should do that, too. I used to be good about getting rid of old paperwork but I’ve slacked off the past few years. During COVID the community shredding events stopped and they never started up again.
I just never had a good system. I tried filing but most everything just ended up in a box.
Good luck with your decluttering! I need to do the same as I have so many boxes in my basement as well.
Thanks cm8.
I was surprised to find my childhood Raggedy Ann and Andy radio in one of the boxes!
Awwww!!!! That’s so sweet!!!! Hold on tight to those!!!
Propers to you on continuing with your decluttering efforts!
Slowly but surely. ( and don’t call me Shirley. Lol)
HA! Got the “Airplane” reference!
Hope everyone is having a lovely holiday weekend.
On the 4th, it was quiet here (fireworks-wise) in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles – very different from when I lived downtown, where M80s were going off every few minutes.
It’s a beautiful Sunday, and I’m wearing H24 EdT from Hermès (2021-Christine Nagel) – their first big marketed-to-men fragrance since Terre D’Hermès.
It’s taken me a while to warm up to it – it’s an odd one, though there’s nothing particularly strange about any of the individual notes. I can say, thankfully, that it’s not a stereotypical “masculine” of the last decade or so.
It’s green, but not in a sharp way – a gentle clary sage. It’s floral (narcissus,) but not overly so. It’s really well-balanced, in fact. There’s a hint of apple, and the dry down has a sort of metallic steamy iron note. But all the edges in this are smooth.
Supposedly, Nagel described it as a “high-tech fougere,” and that sounds about right. It’s sort of old-fashioned, yet also very modern. It’s both natural and synthetic. Again, just a bit weird.
It’s not a “love” for me, but I do like it. (I have the EdP, as well, where everything is intensified, but I think I prefer the EdT.)
Has anyone else tried it? Next time you pass an Hermès counter, check it out. Curious what others think of it.
I will definitely give H24 a try the next time I spot it! Sounds lovely, and I do love the clary sage note and a fougere.
I kept meaning to try it but didn’t…Nagel is a fantastic perfumer but not for me. I did like some of her Hermessences and have been surprised she hasn’t done more…suspect they are coming soon because have seen more Hermessences arriving at department stores lately.
All too familiar with M80s, despite them being on the list of verboten consumer fireworks.
SOTD is YR Sel d’Azur, a citrussy scent with a fresh, salty seaside air, perfect for a sticky summer day. Not as hot as the previous couple of days but the humidity is way up there. We just had about 1/2 hour of some much-needed rain which I’m sure added to the heat index, but I’m not going out anymore today.
Had a wonderful lunch with the grandtwins yesterday catching up on their summer. She’s working as a camp counselor learning how to cope with supervising – and entertaining – pre-teen girls and he’s using his sales skills finding customers for the car-detailing business he and his friends started this year. And they’re both getting ready to head off to college in a month or so. They’re good, hard-working kids, and grandma’s proud of them.🥰. They give me hope for the future of this country.
Went out for breakfast at our favorite local diner this morning and then stopped at a wonderful Ukrainian bakery to pick up some desserts for later (couldn’t decide on just one, so we bought a few for several days – chocolate eclairs, chocolate macarons and raspberry tiramisu 😋).
Happy Sunday to all! 🤗
That Ukrainian bakery sounds amazing! Yum! Do you have any goodies left? 😋🤣
I’m still sad and shocked by all the terrible news of the Texas floods. More and more people found dead and just horror stories from the survivors including very young kids. It’s a beautiful part of the state and so sad to see the devastation.
Not up to much today but I did go out to visit Mom, who was uncharacteristically chatty. I am always glad to see her be lively but at the same time, since her words and stories make no sense, it’s very tough on me.
My SOTD is the very beautiful Venice Rococo from Arquiste. I think this may be the most worn new perfume I’ve had for a long time. I can’t seem to get enough of it.
Tonight I’m trying out a new recipe from this week’s Washington Post, chicken thighs in a mix that includes orzo, spinach, and goat cheese. There’s also some raisins (I’ve got raisins) to add some sweetness to the mix. It’s stove-top which is good because I just don’t turn on my oven in the summer here. And I’ll have leftovers!
What I wrote, but got “fixed,” was “I’ve got CRAISINS” not “raisins.” You know the dried cranberries. Better than raisins plus nice addition of color.
I prefer Craisins too. I hope your recipe turns out great!
I just watched the news coverage of the devastation, how horribly sad. 78 people gone and many still missing. Hearing the stories of those who were swept away yet survived is equally terrifying. My heart goes out to all, hoping that many more will be found alive, especially those girls missing from camp.
Your fragrance sounds gorgeous. I see it is sometimes compared to FM Lipstick Rose. Just curious if you had tried that one and think they are similar. I have Lipstick Rose and really like it.
I have not thought of that comparison and no, it doesn’t seem right to me, but maybe tomorrow I can do a side-by-side test. In my memory at least, Lipstick Rose is a lot sweeter. Venice Rococo is sort of sweet too but has more depth or complexity, more animalics. But I will try to remember to do that tomorrow and come back to respond! I think of Venice Rococo as being sort of like a sexy marshmallow, ha ha!
Interesting. I never thought of Lipstick Rose as being that sweet. I may try it tomorrow 😊
I’m a bit late checking back in on this, in part because I forgot, partly because I wanted to wait to give both scents a good try. It’s a bit hard to compare the two. I don’t find them at all similar but it might be that my Lipstick Rose, which was a manufacturer’s sample, has gone off some as it’s very old. VR is more round and full, with a tiny bit of a caramel note, or a more candied, dusty and musky aspect. I suppose this is what people call “powdery” but I don’t. (Some people might call it a “plastic” note.) I do find it just very slightly “stinky” as well, which may be the civet. LR on the other hand is a bit more juicy, with a bit of a prickling rose note, and definitely some sweet fruits. I like them both and don’t think they duplicate one another very much at all.
Unfortunately, the news out of Texas keeps getting worse. SMH
Hello NSTers! I’m back from my weeklong vacation to Boston and NYC. We had a wonderful time despite the heat & humidity. We were fairly laidback with sightseeing but went to a few museums and attended an epic game at Fenway. Still managed to walk at least 15,000 steps a day except for the travel day between the two cities. Wish I could do that in my daily life!
I also did make it to Aedes. I was overjoyed to be there and they were very kind, but I felt too yucky and hot to properly appreciate fragrances. So I sniffed a few things and bought a few samples to properly test at home. They only sell samples of the Aedes brand in the store (as opposed to online) but were kind enough to pop in an extra from another brand that caught my eye.
Now I’m drowning in laundry and unpacking mess. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. Boo!
Welcome back!
Hopefully tomorrow will go easy on you.
Thanks, lillyjo! Survived my day back at work, but I am pretty wiped out now.
Boston & NY together, what a neat trip! Been to both, but separately. Favorite memories – Fenway & the old NY Yankee Stadium!
I think we were overly ambitious to do both cities in one trip! It was jammed packed with memories and loads of food, that’s for sure. So many bagels and slices of pizza.
Welcome back! This diehard Red Sox fan always loves going to Fenway – such a beautiful ballpark.
Hey, fellow Sox fan! My first time at Fenway was over 20 years ago; with Pedro pitching, simply magical and I never thought it could be beat. But last week was my son’s first time at Fenway, and Sox won with a grand slam and an in-the-park HR, and it was just electric. I think he’s still on a high from the game!
I saw Pedro in his prime! To my mind, the greatest pitcher ever. Seriously. I’ll put him up against anyone.
But that was a heck of a game you and your son saw.😎 What fun!
What a fantastic trip.
It was! Definitely worth the mild travel anxiety I get!
What a cool trip! Sadly, I never made it up to Boston when I lived on the East Coast.
Good luck with the mountains of vacation laundry!
You’ll have to visit some day!
Two loads down, and maybe just one more to go…. I’ll get to that one eventually.

Here’s a song match for you. 🤘
We are indeed the sultans of swing 😂👌🏼🎸🎹🎵🎶
It’s been warm to hot here over the long weekend, and my scent choices have run the gamut from Eau d’Hadrien to Sugi to Paris-Deauville. This Monday morning I’m in Arso, after caving and ordering a backup travel-size … and several other things that will be on my confessions list next time Donatella visits.
Luckily you have a good long wait before she gets here again 🙂
Wearing ELdO Nombril Immense this morning because it caught my eye. I’m not sure I’d reach for it after being stuck in space but it’s a great patch fragrance.
I might reach for Miss Dior Originale because my mother wore it and it evokes so many memories. I wore it for my birthday last week and it was juuuust right!
Did I miss your Birthday?!
Happy belated Birthday!
Happy Birthday 🎈
Happy Belated Birthday! 🎉🎁🍾🎂
Happy belated birthday allo!
Broke down yesterday and took advantage of the Luckyscent 15% off last night and got the Hiram Green sample set. Wearing no 5 body lotion layered with no 5 extrait today.
SOTD is FM Lipstick Rose after Calypso mentioned it being sweeter than Venice Rococo, which I have not tried. I still don’t find Lipstick Rose to be sweet, but it is very powdery. Now it makes me want to try Venice Rococo☺
I just added my comments up above in the earlier thread comparing the two. I think I would associate “powdery” with “sweet.” I’m definitely picking up the fruity note in Lipstick Rose, which might be the raspberry mentioned in the notes on Fragrantica.
Thanks!
Sotd Prada infusions de Mimosa from a kind, generous, great-smelling NSTer in honor of our blossoming mimosa tree.
No matter what is happening elsewhere Mother Nature keeps on schedule.
Thanks to all that this is a place of sweet-scented joy, creativity and camaraderie!
I couldn’t agree more 🌹
Happy Monday NST! 💐
I wore Bronze Goddess yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it for a long drive up into Michigan. Last night Shalimar Edc demanded to be worn and who would say no? Not me! So Shalimar has won today, too.
What a fun CP this week! And you can wear something different every day because who knows how you would feel, you would want different scents for different scenarios. I’ll see if any creativity surfaces lol.
Ringthing where are you going in Michigan? I’ve been to the UP and loved it especially Traverse City!
Interesting CP idea this week. I’ll have to think on it.
However, this afternoon as I was getting the mail, I came across a smell I would love to NEVER encounter again. The stench was bad enough that I almost lost my lunch, and my eyes were watering. My nose started running as well. Fortunately for me, whatever that ungodly reek was cleared out as quickly as it showed up. Bletch!
SOTD = Patou Collection Heritage Colony. It’s akin to L’Artisan Timbuktu to my nose. Enjoying this smell!
Yuck!! Did you figure out what caused the stench?! Maybe we don’t want to know, ha!
I’ll have to check out Colony. I wore Timbuktu recently after a long absence, and love it even more than I thought I did.
I have no idea what the Eau de Pew was. Last time I smelled something that bad was way back in my college chemistry courses….
Eau de Pew? Isn’t that Pepe Le Pew’s favorite scent?
“Eau de Pew” is my way of referring to particularly offensive odors. Been saying it since I was a kid.
Today’s stench would have scared off poor Pepe! 🦨
Jalapeño that’s sooo.creative ! I’m totally copying that!

Oh yuk!
It was SO disgusting!!
Happy 85th Birthday, Sir Richard Starkey 🥳!
Today was a perfect summer day, a rarety this year! Temps just reaching 80, blue sky, bright 🌞, a N/NE breeze, and best of all, low humidity. Treated myself to a pool afternoon and post-pool I’m enjoying YR Bleue Vegetal edt, one of their annual summer scents featuring fun tropical floral/aquatic notes. This one featured a nice, light jasmine center with bergamot to brighten it. Very enjoyable.
And it was truly enjoyable to turn off the a/c and open the windows today. Cats got to go in and out onto the screened porch, and I’m looking forward to dinner on the porch tonight and listening to the Sox game on the radio. It’s been too hot to enjoy it much this summer, and I know the heat and humidity will return soon.
Enjoy!🎶

Glad that both you and the kittehs were able to enjoy a perfect summer day today!
To answer your question from last night: the Ukrainian bakery desserts are all gone. We each ate a small chocolate eclair + chocolate macaron last nite, and had the tiramisu with vanilla ice cream tonite. 😋 The bakery is a small business run by a delightful woman and her daughter, 2 doors down from our favorite local diner, so we always stop in when we go out for breakfast. Besides the delicious goodies, it makes me feel good to do what little I can to help support the people of Ukraine.
Boy o boy, that Concert for Bangladesh album is incredible! Happy 85th Sir Richard Ringo Starkey! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome. It’s hard to believe he’s 85, and great to see how well he’s doing.
