Happy Almost-Friday and happy National Chocolate Mousse Day! Birthdays: Washington Irving, Doris Day, Jane Goodall, Eddie Murphy. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Hermès Eau Claire des Merveilles layered over Eau des Merveilles. Despite its name, Eau Claire moves Merveilles into soft focus.
Reminder: On 4/4, wear a perfume that makes you think of clouds, fog, mist or haze. It could be anything that feels soft-focus, silvery, or a little ethereal, or maybe it’s the perfume that wraps around you like a thick, scented cloud. Suggested by Glannys.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2025, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Yum – Chocolate Mousse Day!
I’m in PG Indochine which for me is not a misty fragrance and is golden rather than silvery — but it does envelop me in a soft cozy cloud.
In other news, I was thinking of splitting the new LE from Imaginary Authors, A Little Secret, and bottles are now sold out. They only introduced it on April 1!! I’ll bet this one makes a return to the line up at some point.
Oh, that’s wild it sold out already. I ordered a sample so hopefully I don’t like it too much. 😉
😆 they still had samples so I ordered one, too.
I love Indochine, a sleeper scent that I loved and went through my bottle pretty quickly. You smell wonderful!!
Hi ST – nice to see you. It’s so great. I had tried it a long time ago and although I liked it, was not that impressed. It’s thanks to others here that I retried and LOVE it.
I almost wore that today. It is a great scent!
😀
Hello.
Sotd is Dior Joy Intense.
Do you love Lush Rose Jam, like, good enough to eat kinda love? Lush’s The Kiss mouthwash tabs is exactly that, Rose Jam for your mouth! I couldn’t resist buying it because I love eating flower flavoured things. Lavender honey, turkish delight, violet candies, orange blossom syrup cakes…
Oh interesting, I might need to pick up some of those mouthwash tabs. I bet they don’t do samples but would love to try first…
LUSH usually does samples. I haven’t been in at least 2 months so I am due for a visit.
They usually are really nice about samples, but wasn’t sure if they also did them for tooth tabs…
I had to cancel yesterday’s dentist appointment since my mother goofed up one of her meds and I rescheduled my appointment for later this month. Will be spending today in Gris Charnel today.
Oy! This kind of … sucks … when you’re anticipating it already. Nevertheless, good wishes are also rescheduled.
Love the purple sky and how the light hits one blossom on your image, Robin.
And we are house twins – I am wearing Hermessence Cuir d’Ange.
Delicate, ethereal – like a soft violet suede cloud.
You smell awesome-that’s what I was going to wear, but couldn’t find my sample 🙂
Added 2 more sprays for you! 😁
Cuir d’Ange is perfect!
I’m posting much earlier than usual, it’s 3am here and we’re up very early to catch a 6am flight to Sydney! I’ll wear a touch of Jovoy’s Remember Me for the flight and aim to do some serious sniffing later.
We’re in Sydney for a couple days for my beloved’s son’s wedding, then my beloved goes home and his sister and I go on to Europe, starting with a few days in Rome.
Congratulations to your Son and have a safe trip!
Mazel Tov! Have fun and safe travels!
Have a wonderful trip!
How fun, have a great trip!
Happy travels Gaynor! Hope you get upgraded to first class!!!
Enjoy your travels, everything sounds wonderful! Congratulations to your son.
Hope the wedding is perfect!
Congratulations and have fun!!!
Congratulations! I hope you have a great time!
Congratulations on your son’s wedding and safe travels.
Have a fantastic trip!
Have a great time at the wedding and in Europe, bon voyage!
Have a great trip!
Sounds like a wonderful trip even w/o any Serious Sniffing. Stay safe and enjoy!
Safe travels, and congratulations to your son!
SOTD (long time no shiff guys!!) is Ocean Dream, by Giorgio Beverly Hills, with water lily, orange blossom, heliotrope, and a powdery drydown. It’s soft and easy to wear, and doesn’t annoy my allergies. Surprisingly, it’s quite long lasting. I’ve layered it over J & J Cotton touch body lotion, which smells similar, minus the aquatic note.
Lots going on but wanted to zip in and say hi!
Zip in anytime! Smelling wonderful as usual.
Thank you! **Waves hello** There is much change afoot, but it’s been too long!
Hiya SmokeyToes, nice to see you 😊
Good to see you! Ocean Dream is great!
Hi SmokeyToes! Nice to see you.
Hi SmokeyToes!!! 😀
Nice to see you here.
Waving hello! 👋
Missed you!
Hey! Missed you back! 🙂 I shouldn’t wait so long next time!
Nice to see you! 👋
Sending many fragrant hellos and hugs to everyone!
Hiya SmokeyToes!
Hey, SmokeyToes! Ocean Dream sounds nice – did you ever try GBH Holiday?
Taking points in Wood Sage and Sea Salt this morning. It definitely rings the misty-silvery-cloudlike bells for me.
That’s a beautiful scent, SheriG. I’ve tried the soap, cream, and fragrance-love all of them.
Great scent. I just got some of the body cream the other day.
I love this one, too. You smell great!
You smell wonderful, Robin! I think I’ll copy you. In fact I think I’ll go whole hog and put on the eau de merveilles lotion first 🙂
Eau Claire is so beautiful and unique, I wish I had a 5 gallon jug. As it is my bottle has a broken/faulty sprayer so its slowly evaporating 🙁
One of these days I will buy that lotion! But what a shame about your sprayer, they should replace it.
I have considered buying the lotion too, but have not gotten to it yet either.
That’s interesting – my regular EdM also has a broken/faulty sprayer!
Its a bummer! I want to buy another bottle from ebay but it might have the same issue!
I should check the sprayer on my bottle of EdM Bleue.
I hope yours is ok! My bottle is pretty old so hopefully they corrected the issue before bleue came out.
It’s going to be a long day at the office (I didn’t schedule myself a break). But I’m off at 5 instead of 6 and I’m going to start the chilly day with Volutes because Robin reminded me how good this is when she wore it earlier this week. And I always picture the cloud of smoke rising in rings from a cigar when I looked up the word “volutes.”
Chilly here too, hope 5 comes FAST.
Well, you smell great. Hope you can relax this evening!
Hi all. I have a busy day with several appointments so I chose No 5 L’Eau for it’s ease of wear. I think this one can get CP points since it’s a soft focus take on the original No 5.
Am with you there
Agreed.
You smell great.
Perfect – and you do smell great!
Wearing the innocuous L’Eau d’Hiver, probably my most misty perfume.
Oh I like that one!
It is misty! I might copy you tomorrow.
I can remember a long , cold, hard winter walk near Ben Nevis in Scotland, and walking down the valley in deep mist and drizzle only for a tall figure dressed in kilt and full highland garb to emerge from the fog, playing the bagpipes. So, for the CP I’m wearing Melancholy Thistle in memory of that eerie day.
What an amazing memory!
Wow, that might actually freak me out, ha…
What a vivid image! Perfect choice for the CP.
we did about 45 min into Ben Nevis and had to turn around-the weather was so bad. I had my kids with me and a fellow hiker with a thick Scottish accent told me that the weather is going to only get worse and I see you have your kids with you-best turn around now..
That would be sooo cool.
I’m in the last of my sample of 1957 from Chanel. I think it’s beautiful. I’d love to have a bottle but would have to somehow rationalize my collection, and I do not feel like doing that right now. Or perhaps ever 🙂
Rationalize your collection? What is this?
😉
crazy talk 🙂
lol
I had a bit of a disappointment this morning with a decant that had gone off. I had planned too wear Marissa Zappas Petrichor today, but unfortunately, it was not meant to be. For a while my left arm smelled of the Mrs. Meyers Snowdrop hand soap I used to wash the perfume off, but I did settle on another perfume. I’m not in a hazy cloud of Chloe Atelier des Fleurs Iris. I’d probably compare it most to Boucheron Iris de Syracuse and Regime des Fleurs Willows, though the Chloe is a bit more fresh than those.
Shoot. I have lost lots of decants, you have my sympathies.
I am wearing Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady just because…
Happy Thursday! 🌹
You smell beautiful! One of my top five perfumes.
Thank you, Kris! PoaL is also one of my favorite perfumes.
Gorgeous rose scent! 🌹🌹🌹
I have a bit of a headache today that is hanging on- I keep thinking..did I have my coffee today..the normal amount (since I get headaches when I don’t have caffeine) or maybe I slept wrong or not enough. Either way I am commando.
I hope your headache goes away soon.
Hope it has improved, an espresso might do the trick.
It did! ☕️
Caffeine withdrawal headaches can be really nasty. Happy to hear that you are feeling better now.
Wearing a veil of suede iris with DelRae Mythique.
“Mythique” is such a perfect name for this fragrance. And it’s equally perfect for the CP.
Great choice.
It’s laundry day here, and Dapper the cat “helped” remove the bed linens. He thinks it is a wonderful opportunity to play hide and seek as well as pounce on my hands from under the sheets. So silly. The senior kitties were more dignified and watched from the floor. SOTD is Ramon Monegal Impossible Iris.
Impossible Iris is on my “sample again” list; I really enjoyed it.
Of course laundry day is all about play time! My cat went crazy when fresh sheets went on the bed. And I could find him sometimes resting on the folded, freshly washed towels in the linen closet.
My three 😻😻😻also like to supervise when we put clean sheets on the bed. They they walk on them to be sure we’ve fastened them snugly enough for their liking!
Quality control!
My cats also love to “help” me change the sheets 😸😸
Teflon kitty used to be an enthusiastic “helper” when it came to changing the sheets as a kitten. Now she knows to steer clear.
Still cold here this week so went with Coco Noir body lotion and perfume. Love this one.
Been on the weather roller coaster here lately. Forecast is calling for snow today down in Denver. Next week, temps in the 70’s! 🙄😏
Bogue Mem today, which to me is a haze of lavender. I’m gravitating towards lavender this week, I guess. Anything calming isn’t bad, as work has gotten a bit crazy with the start of next year’s strategic planning AND a merger announcement. I’m ready for the weekend.
Oh, you smell wonderful!
I hope the merger goes smoothly! I’ve been through a couple of those so I can sympathize. Calming scents are a great choice to help get you through.
Hope the weekend comes fast to you 🤞
Happy Thursday, everyone!
I’m in Opus IV from Amouage, one of my most worn from the house. Loads of citrus, incense, and spice, including a hefty dose of cumin. Not sweaty cumin – “clean” cumin, for lack of a better term.
Happy Thursday Daniel! I can’t keep the Opus series straight but I’m sure you smelled wonderful today.
SOTD = 4160 Tuesdays Clouds EDP
Nice! 4 sprays since I wore it starting the early afternoon. No pics as I may do a multi-bottle post, maybe, maybe …
Way back when I was commuting for work or even traveling and got close to a train station, I never had the desire to eat a full meal other than the occasional small food purchase. Anyway, here’s a gift article on great food at train stations:
https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/travel/train-stations-restaurants-london-kyoto-copenhagen-paris-nyc.html?unlocked_article_code=1.804.7iX_.ysVziJtJYgJQ&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
Fantastic fragrance choice! I covet my bottle.
You are definitely a fan of 4160 Tuesdays and their scents!
I have tried a few from this house and none worked for me so I gave up on them. Glad it works for others.
Luckily we suffered no damages from yesterday’s storms and awoke this morning to moderate temps and 🌞 skies, a nice morning for the weekly Aldi’s grocery trip. We’ve done more shopping this week than we have in a long time, stocking up on things before who-knows-what happens in the crazy trade war we now find ourselves in!
I love green/earthy/woody notes in early Spring, and besides galbanum another favorite is vetiver. My SOTD is Anthousa Fig & Vetiver. On me, the green fig is sweet but not overly so, and the vetiver is green but not overly so. Interestingly, in her 2006 review, Robin says she enjoys it for the first 15 minutes or so, then it’s sweet fruits over blended florals and very little vetiver and woods. Perhaps because my bottle is probably ant least 15 years old, I get mostly fig and vetiver and a nice amount of osmanthus in the middle but no florals. I also noticed the review lists it at $75 but I’m sure I paid no more than $20 or so at TJ Maxx where I purchased it. It still smells very nice but doesn’t last very long, I’ve already spritzed several times.
Happy Thursday to all! 🌳🌹
Wow that’s an oldie, I had no memory of ever smelling it much less reviewing it. I am sure you smelled wonderful 🙂
Unintentionally compliant today! I started out with Shalimar edc, then added some of the body creme which I just got today. Now I am in a haze of Shalimar’s powdery note, which is amped-up. (This kinda sorta clashed with the edc before overwhelming it.) I haven’t smelled a current version of Shalimar yet; the latest one I have, an edp, is from 2017. Maybe other Shalimars are now powder forward? I like powdery scents, but I expect much more from Shalimar. Happily, the quality of the creme is good: not sticky or runny, and nicely smoothing.
Some of the recent limited edition Shalimars have been floral-forward, based on what I have heard.
Copying allo (and Robin) in Volutes. I have 4-5ml left of the discountinued EDT.
I’ve noticed a few Jean-Claude Ellena scents being worn this week. I do think he might be the perfect perfumer for this CP, so I’ll probably go with one of his creations tomorrow.
Yay for Volutes and JCE!
Aerin Lauder Ikat Jasmine
Hope it was a good Thursday Barqs.
After all the gloomy and stormy weather, today was very pleasant.
My sotd is one of my favorite happy scents Devotion.
I’ve come to love this scent, you smell great! 💛
I just can’t get enough of it!
Glad you had a break in the weather! That calls for a happy-making perfume for sure.
Gorgeous picture today Robin!
It looks and feels like Winter in these here parts. Glowering grey skies and rain so far, but the forecast is calling for temps to fall below freezing tonight. So I might get a bit of snow too. As usual, the heavier stuff is well to the south of me. Glad I didn’t pack away the wool socks!
SOTD = Etro Gomma EdT. It’s a pretty, powdery, old school type floral. I think it would be happier in warmer weather, though. I might have to break out a heavy hitter for tomorrow’s CP.
I wonder if they used a spotlight? It’s too perfect.
Warmed up here but very humid and SMELLY…not sure why, smelled like something farming related, which is not usual here.
SOTD was Serge Lutens Bas de Soie for a gray, cloudy, rainy day that will extend through the weekend.
Nice fit!
