A cute, perfumath free 30 ml size of Roger & Gallet Fleur de Figuier: "This soothing fragrance combines the warmth of fig pulp with the refreshing shade of its leaves, complemented by a touch of bittersweet grapefruit." $26.95 at Hampton Court, where you'll also find the same size/price in Rose and Jean Marie Farina. (Roger & Gallet now makes all their fragrances in 30 ml, if you can find them.)

Happy Friday! It’s also the last day of May, Walt Whitman’s birthday and World No Tobacco Day. Our community project for today: the Picture challenge, edition 9…wear a perfume that matches the image, which is Genesis, The Gift of Life, a 1954 glass mosaic by Mexican artist and anthropologist Miguel Covarrubias. [Above is just detail from the central part of the mosaic; more images and info here.]

What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.

For the green underground figure, which I assume is based on the Aztec “earth monster” Tlaltecuhtli, I decided to go with something rooty / underground, so vetiver. After realizing I no longer have a single fragrance from my post 5 perfumes: vetiver fragrances for spring, I moved on to summer. I’m in Guerlain Vetiver…

As you increase concentrations of d-limonene

One of the things that was so cool about this, at least according to the researchers I talked to, was that this increasing concentration of d-limonene didn’t impact the feeling of the high at all. So you got this really targeted effect: basically as you increase concentrations of d-limonene, this particular terpene, you just see people’s anxious reactions go down, but they aren’t reporting feeling that their high is any less or different. It’s mostly just the anxiety.
