Happy FOMO Friday! (Also, National Fossil Day and International Day of the Girl.) Our community project for today: wear the perfume you bought because everyone else was buying it and you didn't want to miss all the fun. Thanks go to SarahN for the idea!
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Fendi Theorema, which got so many raves on MakeupAlley back in the day that I had to have a bottle. It was already discontinued by the time I heard of it, but I lucked out and found a bottle at a mall kiosk. It was a very long time ago now, but my memory is that they let me sniff the cap and that's it. (Springpansy mentioned it as a FOMO pick yesterday, so I am not alone!)
Reminder: on 10/18, wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's picks for the Autumn/Winter 2024/2025 NYFW Color Palette. (If you like, click through to the article and pick your fragrance based on the color name or description rather than the color itself, as in "Tomato Cream, a nourishing toasty hue that warms the soul." or "Italian Plum, a deep dark purple full of magical energies.")
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello and tgif!
My FOMO sotd is Seville a l’Aube.
I remember even before it’s release the whole perfume community was already buzzing with huge anticipation, then when it was finally out every reviewer and perfumista rushed to get their hands on a bottle and shared their thoughts with anyone listening. I joined the rush and ordered one blind immediately too. It turned out to be an absolute beauty of a scent. I love it so much.
We’re twins!
😀👋👋
A vintage Karl Lagerfeld Chloe perfume for my SOTD.
Oatmilk cappuccino
Has anyone smelled the new Patchouli Paris from Guerlain of the new MFK scent?
I have not had a chance to observe a full-day’s wear, but my first impression of a back of the hand spritz was that it leans masculine. I will try to get to it this weekend and report.
Yes, I have. I thought it was nice.
I should add that I like many things that Delphine Jelk has where others do not. It is not a perfume I would probably buy due to the expense and there are so many other patchouli fragrances out there.
Sorry-that should say “many things Delphine Jelk has done”.
Thank you! I will try to sniff it out
There was so much talk about Lush Sticky Dates body spray that I was dying to try it, and when finally it showed up at the local store, I gave it a sniff and, probably spurred on by the golden LIMITED EDITION on the label, bought it. It’s nice enough, a touch synthetic, but it has a lot in common with Let The Good Times Roll and Yog Nog (which I like the best of the three) — they all have a caramelly cooked-sugar quality. If I’d thought about it, and been able to smell it somewhere that wasn’t an overwhelmingly perfumed Lush, I probably wouldn’t have bought it — the downside of following the herd.
At any rate, I’m wearing it today and I like it fine. I could do worse.
LOL, I am very susceptible to *golden Limited Edition* marketing. I know what the man behind the curtain is doing but it can be fun!
I like Sticky Dates in the shower gel, but not sure I would like it as a spray. It might be a little too sweet for me.
I’m wearing Tokyo from my Gallivant discovery set. I really like the black pepper and yuzu.
That does sound nice.
Theorema is gorgeous and will have to wait until Sunday. I save my ultimate favorites for days when I am off work. By the time I discovered Theorema, it was discontinued but when I found it on on Fragrancenet, I bought 5 bottles.
Today I am wearing vintage Jicky edt. It is a FOMO because it was vintage and didn’t want to miss out, especially on having a teardrop bottle filled with Jicky.
I am aggravated with my local ER. Spent time from 4am to 8am yesterday in the ER with a vicious stomach problem that wasn’t going away. Most places have a nurse on call phone number and the nurse said I should head to the ER due to how much pain I was in. The ER had me wait in the waiting room for hours after they did blood work. They said that they were going have a CT scan done but were not sure when I will be called back. I was starting to feel better and wasn’t exactly willing to wait hours more in an empty ER. The ER had been fairly empty the whole time, so there wasn’t exactly a reason to have me wait around. This is a level 2 trauma center. Still feeling off but still need to go to work today.
That sounds thoroughly irritating, hope you are feeling better Dawn.
Hope you are feeling better and have an easy day at work!
Like you, I fell in love with Theorema, found out it was discontinued, and tracked down a couple of backup bottles. I’m wearing mine today as it feels fall-appropriate but is airy enough for a day of temperatures in the upper 70’s. I hope you feel better and get through your workday without problems!
I hope you continue to feel better and can get some follow-up care, if needed!
Hope you are feeling better today, Dawn!
So sorry you had to go through that in an ER. That is very aggravating to say the least. I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I don’t know where you live but am very sorry to hear that awful story. Here in Houston many of us older folks with various medical issues have now shifted to going to emergency urgent care places, since they changed and will now accept Medicare (they didn’t at first and it was very cost prohibitive). Like you, I have spent literally HOURS unattended in the hall of big hospital ER’s with either a broken leg or a dislocated hip. TRUE STORIES. I had to start screaming at one point to get someone to bring me a bedpan because otherwise I would have been (well, you know). In the Urgent Care places you generally get attention within 10 minutes and they have real doctors there and lots of equipment for scans and bloodwork and stuff. I am perhaps lucky because there are several near me and I know now to go there. You may get a referral to a hospital if you need surgery (which I did when I had a broken wrist from a fall), but I would think that for a stomach ailment you’d probably be able to get attention right there. It’s just an idea for a future emergency (which I hope won’t happen!).
Hope you are 100% soon.
Hope you don’t experience THAT again anytime soon. No Bueno!
I hope that by the end of the day today you are now feeling much better. Sorry for the horrible experience you had. 🤗
Gosh, what a nightmare. Join everyone else in hoping you are feeling much better.
Supposed to be 80F today, probably the last time this year, so I am wearing L’Eau yet again. This was a purchase made after lillyjo sent me a decant and Jalapeño was enthusiastic too but I wouldn’t call that fomo….more that they both earned enabler pins!
You smell great – our weather is cooler here but we are about to say goodby to Summery weather this weekend too.
Well, whatever it was, you smell amazing!
Thanks for the enabler pin! 😁
My SotD is Luctor Et Emergo, the edt. I got an edp sample from a lovely NSTer’s split and after several wearings (this being about the time I realized how long 5 or 10mls of perfume can last!), I decided to get a bottle. I hesitated and missed a bottle from a reseller, so I went over to Luckyscent and found it was out of stock in both edp and edt. I put my name on the wait list and after many weeks a lady emailed me to say they did not think they were going to get any edp, but maybe some edt. So I switched to that, got a notice when the edt came, and bought it. I don’t notice a huge difference from the edp and it is perfect for Fall weather. TMI re: my FOMO schemes, but a shout-out to Luckyscent for good follow up.
Was that the play-note perfume? Goodness, that was talked up. In any case, glad the edt worked out.
Ahem, Play Doh
Yes, and it does smell like that to me; but then I smell almonds, marzipan, and cherry or dark red fruit preserves along with woody incense. It also has a wonderful scent bubble and lasts most of the day!
What a lovely perfume. I have made a couple little decants last for ages.
Yes; I think I have a couple spritzes left in my edp split. Either would earn me CP points. 🙂
My POTL is almost gone, I think you did the right thing.
Feeling fuzzy this morning on account of a big event I attended last night — lots of people I hadn’t seen in 30 or 40 years. Fun, but I was so wound up when I got home that it took a while to get to sleep. My SOTM is my favorite lemming, Tam Dao layered with Philosykos. Later on I’ll switch to Au Delà Narcisse for the CP (and because I love it). Happy Friday!
Oh nuts — meant to mention that I love most of the Pantone palette this time, which is unusual for me. And I love the illustrations — they remind me of the ones in the very early Banana Republic catalogs.
I like the colors too except for that brassy yellow which is ick.
You mean the Golden Palm? I agree, there’s something unpleasant about it in quantity, but it would make a great minor accent (say, very thin line) in a plaid with that luscious plum as the major note.
That sounds like a great layering!
It’s Robin’s! I don’t know how she discovered it or stumbled across it or whatever, but (for me, anyway) it all began with her. 😘
😉 That makes sense, of course!
Actually I think I did it the first time by accident 🙂
Hello everyone!
I’m in Boxeuses today, which seemed like it had been discontinued for awhile. I had almost gotten a bottle during the pandemic when it seemed like every perfume company was sending out offer coupons daily. I ended up going with Mandarin Mandarine at the time (which I didn’t regret because that is actually discontinued now.) When Boxeuses showed up again on the Lutens website, I had to have it.
I’m doing my best to focus on lab reports today. Writing really is my nemesis these days.
Have a great day everyone.
You smell great!
Hope you got those lab reports done and dusted!
Delicious Delights was talking about Lancome Oud Bouquet as the one people ran up and complimented her on. I am not usually a gourmand but I immediately went to the discounters and bought an older bottle, for under $100. I later bought the newer L’Autre Oud for a lot more money, and it’s also nice.
I also bought Oud Bouquet due to Delicious Delights!
Oud Bouquet is now going for insane prices on the discount sites. $330!?!
Yowch! That’s about the same price as on the Lancome site. Also, phew, really relieved I’d bought L’Autre Oud from them when I did, as perfume prices have skyrocketed.
SOTD Shalimar Millesime Iris, which I bought in a hurry since it was a limited edition and I actually was in Paris at the time. It’s a nice fall scent, no regrets.
Scent twins!
Chanel Nº5 is SO iconic, famous, influential, and important, I knew that if I was going to call myself a true enthusiast/perfumista, I had to have it. Several years ago I bought a bottle of the EdP, and though I don’t wear it often (I wear Eau Première much more frequently,) I’m very glad it’s in my collection.
I feel the same way about No. 5 but have never bought it, though I do have Eau Premiere.
Me too, I did buy a small bottle on sale once in a duty free shop, but wound up giving it to my aunt because I just never wore it.
I’m in Shalimar MVP, which was definitely a FOMO purchase.
We have another gorgeous day here with temps in the 70s. I got an email from glossier that my bottle of You Doux is out for delivery. Looking forward to trying it. I hope I like it!🤞
Please report back.
We are twins in Shalimar MVP, which was a FOMO purchase for me as well. I bet it was for a lot of us. I do love it, so it was a good call.
Let us know how you like the new Glossier. I’ve never tried any of their stuff.
Curious to hear about your new Glossier scent!
I do think the MVP is the most different-from-Shalimar of this current Millesime series, and the most interesting. I was so happy to get a split and will use my split up. I was on a no-buy when it came out – so FOMO realized. 🙂
It had to be Shalimar MVP for me today, the first of the millesime frenzy. I can’t remember the last time I felt such FOMO for a scent, it’s quite disconcerting to look back on actually. But no regrets, I love it so much! And luckily the FOMO for me has decreased with each iteration of these millesime flankers.
Ha, we smell great! I just posted a reply to MTG above and then I read your comment. That Shalimar flanker had us all in a frenzy, didn’t it? It’s still my favorite of the latest iterations and the only one of which I have a FB.
I knew there would be a few of us twinning today. And if you add the other millesimes, it makes for quite a large family!
Currently commando as I sit in Urgent Care because I was a bit careless when slicing my bagel, which I never did get to eat. Anyway, for those interested, if you don’t have insurance it’s $400 to walk in the door plus the added costs of treatment. Only in the United States!
Anyway, I’ve been craving some Uncle Serge again so will probably wear Un Bois Vanille when I’m done with this nonsense. If I wasn’t 100% sure I needed stitches or dermabond and it wasn’t located on an area of flexion/extension, I would have definitely skipped this.
Hope everyone has an injury free day! 🙃
Yikes! Hope you don’t have to wait too long and that you heal quickly!
What a drag, hope you get fixed up. Good luck and hope you’re not in too much pain ( other than financial)
OMG Deva, you know this is the number one reason for ER visits.
Take care!
I thought it was sliced avocado injuries! I actually read that somewhere, there is an injury they call Avocado Hand. But I don’t mean to make light of your injury or of that stupid cost, Deva. I hope your thumb or whatever will improve soon.
Hope you get all fixed up quick. Please tell me that as a nurse you do have insurance.
Aw Deva, what a pain, literally. Hope they get you taken care of and on your way soon. Those costs are horrendous.
How unlucky, plus the money, it’s all free in the UK but sometimes overcrowded, hope you don’t have to wait long.
Those prices are just staggering!
Thanks all! I’m fine but my checking account is weeping uncontrollably. 😭 I received a good wash out and and Dermabond to close it. She wanted me to have a splint to immobilize the joint but that would have been another $150 at least, so I passed! Didn’t damage the joint capsule and honestly, I should have just dealt with myself. $750 for a hibicleanse washout, one amp of Dermabond and 10 minutes of NP time. I kid you not. 😳 Good thing everything is included on my trip because there went any thoughts of a vacay memento. And, last minute decided on FM Vetiver Extraordinaire because it’s 80F flipping degrees at about 7000ft. Crazy! Stay well people! 💪
Oh, Deva, I’m so sorry to hear all this. Hope you heal quickly, and I’m glad you have your trip to look forward to as a bright spot.🤗
Gosh. That’s steep. I’m so sorry and glad your hand is ok.
We have insurance, but our ER “co-pay” is $500, and given what we pay every month for insurance, I’d say you came out ahead.
This is exactly how I rationalized it myself. Took me a bit to get over the initial hit, but once you crunch some numbers, I’m coming out ahead. 🙃
Deva, I’m so sorry! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
$400!?! Effin’ A! In a perfect world, nurses would have a special low-cost aggregate plan just for them, right?
I hope your hand will be back to normal ASAP.
Oh no! Bad enough you sliced your hand, but those price tags even for an Urgent Care clinic are fricking scary!
😱 … I hope it heals quickly!
Deva I am so sorry – glad you can be your own health care to some extent so that you know what’s going on. Hope it is not throbbing too much tonight.
I’m sorry Deva. I hope it’s not too painful.
It’s a bit hard to get FOMO here as it’s more a case of MO full stop. It takes real guts and stamina to find a place that has a perfume you want,, check the $ exchange rate, get it shipped to NZ, watch the package travel slowly around the world on what looks like the most fascinating flight itinerary imaginable, clear customs and arrive 6-8 weeks later ( or not at all). It’s less hassle to put your fingers in your ears and sing tra la la as rave responses to the latest Shalimar flanker come in, as it would make you cry if you really wanted it. Likewise Tauer etc etc. I admire Gaynor for her tenacity and diligence, a real perfumista whereas I am more like a seagull scavenging over perfume scraps! Wearing Moonlight Patchouli on yet another cold morning.
I imagine it must be tough to be a perfumista in NZ. Loved your comment, esp. about the itinerary.
It’s kind of nice not having instant access to everything…makes you think harder about what you want
Yes, I guess that is the silver lining. But, what prices you have to pay (literally and figuratively) to live in such a far-flung country. I hope your love for it, and its beauty, make up for it. ❤️
I had FOMO for a long time until I moved five years ago this week and really started to downsize.
Probably 80% of my fragrances, especially Tom Ford and Serge Lutens were FOMOS.
My arms are working today! That flu one was a doozy.
Slept and slept I think especially knowing family was safe from storm.
Post shower some Chergui – cause I had FOMO.
Yeah, I had flu + Covid shots on Wednesday and my arm still hurts. On top of that I got a jawful of Novocain yesterday for two fillings in my two further back upper left teeth and all the work the dentist did while pressing on my face with her (very careful) work has given me a proper big bruise on my lower left cheek this morning! Waah!
Oh my! I think your day might have been worse!
I am getting the flu one today.
I got mine a couple weeks ago and had zero issues, so I’m hoping the same for you! 💪
Good. I had the Covid vaccination a month ago so at least it’s just the one this time around.
Did you get flu and covid vax? I got the flu vax a couple of weeks ago and I’m wondering about it’s efficacy as I had no response to the injection, localized or systemic. I’m glad you gave two functioning arms now! Sleeping is really the best medicine sometimes. 💤
It was the super duper over 65 flu shot.
I remember my arm hurting last year but this was wipeout.
So much better today. Even put makeup on and got out the door for few errands on a beautiful day.
This is my first year for the super duper over 65 flu shot so we will see if I feel different this year.
I was wondering but wasn’t sure of your age. Hope you’re back in business ASAP! 💪
Got my flu one week ago and COVID today. My first COVID shot in 2 years, skipped it a year ago because I had COVID in the fall. I don’t mind the sore arm, just don’t want to get the chills and headache that I have had with the COVID “boosters” in the past, usually a miserable 24 hours post-vaccine. I decided I would take a little bit of “predictable sick” over catching COVID.
The worst injection I can remember was my most recent Td vax in 2017. The most painful, edematous, red and angry site reaction ever. So sore…😭
I had the pneumonia shot yesterday and my arm was so sore I couldn’t sleep. Today it’s a little better.
Aww, that’s a tough one! I haven’t had it yet but I’ve heard stories. It’s good one to get, pneumonia is no joke…
I don’t really have a good FOMO scent but was planning to wear Philosykos today because in the initial stages of my serious perfume obsession I was trying out things according to notes and that was the one fig scent everybody said you must have as it’s the best. I had begun with a big purchase of the large sized bottle of L’Artisan Premier Figuieir Extreme and thought I should compare the two. (I wound up still liking the former one better.) End of the story, I couldn’t find my sample of Philosykos. My samples have become increasingly disorganized in the last few years since I last did what I thought was an excellent alphabetical sorting–so much for that plan! Now if someone here steps forward to tell me that some OTHER fig is the best of all possible fig scents I will immediately develop FOMO for whatever that one is–and please let it be available!
Perhaps it’s implied but I should have put it this way: “I couldn’t find my sample of Philosykos and so I wore Figuier Extreme today”!
Ha, got it!
I can almost never find a sample anymore but often find interesting things while looking 🙂
No one will be surprised that my FOMO scent today is Shalimar MI. After hearing all the rave reviews about the other Millesime editions that I did miss out on, I wasn’t going to miss out on this one. I am so glad I purchased it. I wish I would have been able to try the others, but I am happy to have the iris and jasmine versions.
Maybe you will get samples of the other Millesime perfumes?
It’s ok. I think they are more on the vanilla side and that doesn’t always work for me.
Wearing a total FOMO, bought blind (not too expensive!), but was a total success for me: Stash. Its a bit early in the season for Stash, which I save for cold wet days. But the heatwave broke yesterday and it is a crisp 60-something outside. So, Stash it is for the CP.
Asking again (I got some very helpful suggestions yesterday. Not going into the full story again here):
If you HAD to make a wish list for someone who wanted to buy you perfumes and smellies, but hadn’t tested much of anything in at least a year, what would you ask for?
Please suggest perfume-related products or perfumes you would or did buy blind.
xxoo
Howdy! Have you looked at Astier de Villatte? They have nice ceramic incense holders, but also perfumes ( discovery sets), candles etc etc.
Personally, I think nothing beats a big bunch of scented flowers…something I almost never buy for myself. Christmas lilies or roses.
You just reminded me, Kanuka, about Eau Chic by Astier de Villatte. It’s a lovely neroli fragrance (per OF’s post yesterday)
I love their “look” and need an incense holder so checking them out now. 💜
It’s been a while! Waving to you from the Bay.
Would several nice discovery sets make the giver happy?
I’m not sure. I have to think about it. But it would make the recipient happy! Maybe something high-end.
I agree with austenfan, I think some discovery sets would be a lovely gift, maybe with a gift card to buy a full bottle of one you end up loving.
Well that is kind of genius!
HA. Theorema FOMO was/is real – yet somehow all these years later I am still waiting to try it.
Am not CP compliant this unseasonably warm day in vintage Silences, but I do smell fantastic.
(I have de-acquisitioned most of my past FOMO mistakes. My greatest FOMO success was probably LL Vanille 44 and I have no regrets.)
I have all of the swapping supplies on the dining room table and would be glad to send you a sample of Theorema😊 ping me at l e s l i c or th e l l geeeemale dottie commy
I will not say no… : ) Thank you!!!
😊
I love Le Labo Vanille 44!
It is so good.
I struggled with this, but changing FOMO into FOMAB (fear of missing a bargain) opened a whole array of options.
I’m wearing Œillet Bengale, which has some FOMO aspects as well. Everyone was always raving about Aedes de Venustas, I had tried Iris Nazarena which I liked ok, but wasn’t smitten by, and then one the big Dutch etailers started getting rid of their AdV’s. I had tried a few of Rodrigo Flores-Roux creations and liked them, I love carnation scents, so why not gamble on this when it was sold at half its original price? I was lucky in that I love it, and am now the proud owner of one of those beautiful bottles.
Nice! It’s really the best when you blind buy at a wonderful discount and end absolutely loving the perfume. It’s like winning a 5K or something! Huge accomplishment.😃
FOMAB! I like it!
Woke up around 5am this morning and oberved the stars on the terrace, there is no light pollution at my brother’s place and they were spectacular.
Wearing Shalimar MT, projecting and long-lasting on me, I’m the reverse of Kris, I was very excited and got the first two Millésime Shalimars but my interest decreased and I didn’t purchase the last two but I am already looking forward to next year and the centenary, hoping for something truly special.
Your stargazing experience sounds wonderful.
Thank you Jalapeno, so so inspiring to wonder at the universe. You must have beautiful skies too in Colorado.
The first time I ever saw the Milky Way was in Colorado many years ago. It’s harder to see things now due to light pollution, but there are still spots where you can stargaze. Just have to travel further afield.
Well, many thought it was going to be rose this year so maybe that will be the iteration for next year.
It’s actually exciting that we are not certain, I meant to tell you, the most beautiful of the flankers imo is Philtre, I wear it much more often than MVP and MT.
No CP points for me, I’m wearing the sample of Jo Loves’ Golden Gardenia that I got on a recent visit to the shop in London (highly recommended if you get the chance, and across the street from the legendary niche fragrance boutique Les Senteurs). I’m really enjoying Golden Gardenia although white florals aren’t often a big like for me.
I was there way back in the 20-teens! The Jo Loves boutique was “sterile” meant in a good way, perhaps too clean?
It still has that very white, modern look with the red and white, and the long counter. I don’t think they’ve changed it since I first visited. The sales associate was very warm and nice! Did you buy anything when you were there?
I adore gardenia flowers and BWF perfumes. Does Golden Gardenia smell like a real gardenia flower or like a white floral perfume, if you know what I mean? 🤔😉
It starts out smelling like real gardenia, not terribly synthetic as some white florals do, then the warmer notes come in. I like it very much! It’s not “green” at all, though, if that’s your preference for gardenia scents. I do like some green with my gardenias, but this one is very nice and intriguing.
P.S. I wrote about it a bit on my blog yesterday, in my weekly Perfume Chat Room post.
Just got back from a few glorious days of camping – bird and night sky watching and a little hiking – in the beautiful driftless area of southwest Wisconsin and haven’t had much time to give thought to today’s cp. I really don’t think I’ve ever bought a fragrance just because everyone else was, so I’m limiting my cp choice to a scent that many on NST raved about and were purchasing. My SOTD is Andy Tauer’s Au Coeur du Desert. I have the small blue bottle and love its woods and spice at this time of year.
I’m also reminded of a small purchase I made, luckily just a sample, of Andy’s PHI Une Rose after many here, and I think especially Deva, raved about it. Unfortunately, it’s the fragrance that taught me that I really dislike tobacco as a note which, on me, overpowers any rose 🌹 (can’t wear any of the Volutes either).
Haven’t had a chance to read any of this week’s posts, hope to catch up after I return from getting my Covid/flu boosters. Tidying up our camping gear for 🤞 one more trip later this month and putting up the Halloween 🎃 decorations are all that’s on my weekend agenda. Hope all is well with everyone – enjoy the weekend!🍁🍂
Pretty sure I had the same experience with Tauer’s PHI that you did. All tobacco all the time. NOPE!
My FOMO scent if Safran Troublant. I tried the other two in the series and kept seeing the comments how amazing ST is. Then I finally tried it and agreed – it is a wonderful creamy spicy scent.
Good pick Glannys. It really did outshine the other two, and now I can’t remember..one was black pepper and one was red pepper?
Oh but I like Piment Brulant (red pepper) too – I disagree that Safran Troublant outshines it. Poivre Piquant (black pepper) was not my cup of tea, if I remember correctly.
So this series is 2 hits out of 3 for me.
I’m going with POTL and the wonderful play-doh note. It’s so comforting.
I definitely heard about it here and had to know what the fuss was about.
I have a decant of POTL for the same reason, thanks to a lovely NSTer who organized a split. 😊❤️
Beautiful fall weather here today, but Summer is not quite finished yet. Got more 80-degree temps coming up later on.
Looks like I missed seeing the Northern Lights last night by about 30 minutes. Frustrating!!
SOTD = Zara Leather Jardin. Kris and hajusuuri were talking about this one quite a bit earlier in the year, so I had to see what the fuss was about. It’s strong black leather on me and leans masculine. Worked well with today’s weather. 😉😉
Woot woot! Thanks for the shout out!
Por nada!
Glad you are enjoying it!
It reminds me of walking into a Wilson’s store to smell all the leather goods back in the day.
Summer doesn’t want to leave you!
Nope. It feels like early September here, not October! Hopefully it doesn’t go directly from Summer to Winter. That would suck.
Emjoy your good weather and wishing rain for your corner of the world.
I have never seen the northern lights, sorry that you so closely missed it.
I’m going to keep on trying to see them while they are still showing up here in Colorado. It’s a Bucket List item for me.
SOTD = L’Artisan Parfumeur Seville a l’Aube
Seriously wonderful! I bought this way back when Denyse Beaulieu wrote about its history in The Perfume Lover. This could have been my one and only perfume bought as a result of being inspired by a book. Some say it smells like taco, banana or banana-filled taco 🌮… never got that!
https://www.instagram.com/p/DBAD1Edxus6/?igsh=MWh5aGwyN3lmc2dnbQ==
Did you know that snakes 🐍 have feeties? I didn’t! There’s an article in the Wall Street Journal today about animals displaced by Hurricane Milton. Of course it was all about alligators but what captured my interest was a little snippet on animals with feet! NB: There may be a Pay Wall.
https://www.wsj.com/science/environment/hurricane-milton-florida-wildlife-alligators-snakes-68b7fbba?st=JS6wsS&reflink=article_copyURL_share
I’ve seen a few mentions of corn tortillas with your SOTD. Never noticed anything remotely like that either! But sometimes I get a whiff of banana with ylang ylang perfumes…
I might still have a manufacturer sample of Seville a L’Aube floating around here.
🍌🌮😂
I can smell that there may be the idea of banana taco in there somewhere, but it’s so much more!
Banana taco! That’s a new one. Lol.
Twins with Jalapeno in Zara Leather Jardin. This was a blind buy as well, but it worked out. I was disappointed that the garden had no greenery in it, but other than that, I enjoy it. Perfect for this time of year.
I suspect lots of the Zaras created fomo lemmings around here 🙂
Yes, indeed.
Why yes indeed
Another scent twin for me this week! Too cool!
Nice!
Today I went with a limited edition bottle I was able to snag in 2020 called Bloodline. It was created by Hans Hensley, a wonderful indie perfumer, for the perfume shop American Perfumer. I definitely bought it for FOMO because it was a blind buy and only 25 bottles were made. He’s since re-released it most years since then. It’s a big smoky scent with some different cedars. I think it’s great, but it did irritate my nose earlier so I’ll have to figure out if it happens every time I wear it.
Yesterday and Wednesday I wore my other two Shalimar Millesime perfumes, MVP and Iris. And smelled damn good both days. 😀
Damn good!
sotd = Eau de Gaga
because little monsters need a fragrance too. 👻
This is my fomo not because everyone bought it, but because I was sure it would disappear from stores in a flash. I had to smell it just out of curiosity.
Turns out it has a great lime top note, and the rest is pretty much ok. Blind buys ftw! 😊
It is a shame she didn’t do one really wild fragrance!
Never even saw Eau de Gaga in a brick & mortar store. But her first perfume was everywhere (or so it seemed).
I really like Eau de Gaga – lime and then soft leather eau de cologne type. Pleasant (to me) and great in warm weather, but agree not nearly as wild as one might think/hope!
I have 5 versions of Shalimar that were purchased because of FOMO. I decided to wear Shalimar Souffle edp. The one I have is limited edition Peacock bottle. I snatched it up seconds after seeing it pop up at a discounter. It was a great deal too. I still regret not picking up the LE orange Souffle.
I just googled that bottle, which is a stunner! Great purchase. 😊
It was 37 dollars! I payed the shipping because I didn’t want to search for an add-on and miss out!
The peacock bottle! Envy
What other ones do you have? I have three.
I have a LE Shalimar bottle called Siree? It’s just the edp in a special bottle. The LE of the Souffle and Intense bottles. The last 2 Millesime. I also have the edc but that is in the regular bottle.
The only thing that stopped me from buying that peacock bottle is that the then current Shalimar gave me a headache. 😆 So beautiful even so. ❤️
That’s a good reason to not have it! No bottle is worth a perfume headache.
LL Musc 25 today. I am interpreting the FOMO my own way and one major FOMO for me is the Le Labo City Exclusives. I decided I wanted to try LL Musc 25 (Los Angeles), since I like musks quite a lot. I think it took part of a year to figure out I could only test it in September, unless I wanted to go to LA. I tested the fragrance out, decided I wanted it and had to wait nearly a year until I could buy a bottle – the next September. I like the perfume, glad I have it, but is this limitation really necessary? I can’t imagine the company makes more money this way.
The real FOMO to me is the perfumes I bought which were readily available at the time – Bvlgari Black, Donna Karan Black Cashmere – and are now discontinued. So glad I have those. This possibility of discontinuation does influence my buying habits now, probably more than it should.
And I should have bought Black! At least I still have Black Cashmere.
I have no idea if they make more off the City Exclusives than they would otherwise…I guess it gives people a reason to go to the boutiques? So maybe it drives some foot traffic? Really, no idea.
Love Bvlgari Black and also glad I bought a bottle – back when it was a decent price at the discounters.
Hove Parfumeur Fascinator
Such a lovely perfume!
