Le Labo Osmanthus 19 ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2024 6 Comments

Le Labo has introduced Osmanthus 19, the new city-exclusive fragrance for Kyoto.

In early winter, when all plants are dormant, gardeners wait for the golden osmanthus to bloom. The first impression is notes of incense and lavender. Then the main flower appears... creamy and uplifting, followed by woody and resinous tones. The composition is Kyoto-like, a quaint scent for a city where traditional townhouses sometimes blend with concrete and neon, and where arcades are just a stone's throw away from the gardens of the Emperors of long ago. A haiku for the eternal city.**

Le Labo Osmanthus 19, along with the brand's other city-exclusives, will be available worldwide every August-September. The rest of the year it will only be sold in Kyoto. It is available in 50, 100 and 500 ml.

Literally just over a week since we could try it?

I didn’t even bother trying Coriandre this year to be honest.

Yes, the timing doesn’t make much sense. I sampled Coriander a couple of times and bought the carded sample for it, so I can let you sniff it sometime (if your school schedule ever permits another outing together!). The second time I tried it with more serious sprays it became a scrubber on me. The staff there at the little Westheimer/Dunlavy shop said it wasn’t selling that well. But I did at least buy the Myrrhe 55 this time!

I assume they felt like making Coriandre available to the world was enough for one year?

The whole city thing is silly imho, but I guess it must sell or they wouldn’t do it.

Have we ever had a contest for Most Pretentious Perfume House? You can guess whom I’d nominate…

Or, we could make it a CP, as in “Pretentious yes, but I bought a bottle anyway”

Really? I don’t disagree with the sentiment but it’s a big field, LOL…I am not sure they’d even make my top 10 😉
