Happy Friday and happy National Cinnamon Roll Day! (Also, National Taco Day and World Animal Day). Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with a cinnamon note.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm taking (huge) cinnamon points in Serge Lutens Rousse.
Reminder: 10/11 will be FOMO Friday...wear the perfume you bought because everyone else was buying it and you didn't want to miss all the fun. Suggested by SarahN.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

For the CP, Serge Noir. I picked it with Fragrantica’s help, and will challenge my nose today to find cinnamon. In past wearings, I’ve found it to be a warm wood scent with vague sweetness. I don’t get any of the extremes that many reviewers seem to, so maybe I will find that today as well? Beautiful clear fall weather starting this week. Sadly, time to start planning to bring in the big tropical patio pots. I do it in stages, beginning with ridding them of spiders and leaf detritus. I also am winding up a smaller painting and caulking project that I realized I should do because I have all the stuff still out and fresh, and the weather is so perfect. Mr. Mossy even joined in and fixed the storm door which never in 30 years quiiiite closed evenly. HA! Deferred maintenance is the game we play.
I’ve only has samples of your SOTD, but I really enjoy wearing it. I’ll have to concentrate and see if I can smell the cinnamon. I’ll be working on plants and stuff next weekend-getting ready for a work project that’s due next Friday.
Joining you in plant rescue. We already brought in all our houseplants that summer outdoors (they can be half-dead when we put them out in mid-June and are incredibly lush when we bring them inside in the fall!). I also bring in some hanging baskets of annuals that have overwintered successfully for several years, saves me some money each year!)
Hello and tgif!
Sotd is Zoologist Rabbit.
How I feel about it:
This bunny has a snacking problem and needs an intervention!
It starts off with bright orange CHEETOS – salty, greasy and immensely cheesy cheetos, and it lasts for at least 3-5 minutes with nothing else going on.
Then it fades away and the next snack is lemon cream filled flaky sea salt butter shortbread sandwiches. The butter is so heavy you can almost taste the grease.
If you look hard enough underneath all the snacks and wrappers, you will just barely manage to spot some dried hay. Not too far away is a McD’s apple pie waving hello.
Definitely not a fresh scent. No crisp apples, crunchy carrots, sparkly bergamot nor fresh greens. This bunny is bulking up on empty calories only. Everybody say “chubby bunny”! 😀
What a fun description! I haven’t tried that one yet.
Wow, my take on Rabbit is completely different. I get dry grass and herbal notes, nice but nothing I need. Always amazes me how we all can find such different smells in the same perfume!
😂 this is a hilarious review!
LOL 🤣!
I believe there is an article in either The NY Times or Wall Street Journal about Cheeto dust making mice 🐁 skin transparent? Of course the next question is if there is the same effect on human skin which is 10x thicker than mice skin. That’s the next experiment.
Cheetos!
Rabbit has a serious case of the munchies.
Joining the LOL’s!
I went with the obvious-Rousse, by Uncle Serge. Also a spritz of Fille en Aiguilles. Love the concept of national cinnamon roll day!
Beautiful fall day here. I hope everyone has a good weekend.
Have a great weekend too, carole.
Two fabulous SLs!
Obvious twins!
Back from my vacation. I woke up not feeling well, maybe I got a virus from the plane.
Resting and making chicken soup.
I am wearing Rousse too, I had plans for the weekend, i hope I will be better tomorrow.
Have a great weekend.
Hope the chicken soup does its job and you feel better soon.
Hope you are better tomorrow!🤞
Get well soon, hope chicken soup works its magic.
feel better, Hera!
I hope you’re feeling better soon.
Sending more ‘feel better’ wishes your way.🤗
Fingers crossed, hope you beat it!
Oh, ICK! Travel bugs are horrid. Hope you shake it off quickly!
Points in La Danza delle Libellule Exceptional Edition
Notes:
Bergamot, red apple, cedar, cinnamon, musk, vanilla, coconut
Fall in a bottle.
Twins!
Hey there ltsg! So I believe you left a comment and / or mentioned that you are almost running out of Love don’t shy Extreme. Since you already have the bottle, I think you should get a refill if available. My bottle is still fullish but I would not hesitate to replace it were it to get down to < 15% full.
I wore cinnamon all week — SL Rousse and Feminité du Bois, Halston Catalyst for Men, Demeter Egg Nog — but today I’m in the cinnamoniest thing I can even imagine, CSP Vanille Cannelle. Unlike with a lot of other CSPs I really have to be in the mood for this one: it’s pretty aggressive. But on a gorgeous fall day like today it’s perfect — heaping spoonfuls of cinnamon, a wisp of wood smoke, and all that gorgeous vanilla at the end.
Oh, I need that CSP!
That CSP sounds really good!
Happy Cinnamon Roll Day! Glad Kanebullens Dag!
I still remember those cinnamon rolls I ate in Sweden with fondness and longing. 😝
Today I am wearing Trayee, and frankly cardamom is much more prominent than cinnamon here. But it feels right on a Friday afternoon after a hard week. I plan to sleep a lot during the weekend. And crochet. And cuddle with my cat.
That sounds like a great weekend, enjoy the rest.
That does sound like a great weekend!
Give your sweet kitty some kisses from me!
I did!
I would love some kanelbullar right about now!
Trayee is wonderful, isn’t it!
Enjoy those kitty snuggles!
Old Spice bodywash and Old Spice spray.
Yum!
Nanadebary Bronze, very prominent cinnamon amongst all the other goodness. Hey, happy Friday y’all!
Excellent. That’s another brand that has dropped off the radar.
That’s such a good one! It was a close contender for me today.
Wearing Angel’s Share again for its delicious-ness.
Headed to the North Rim looking for a cool breeze today. Stayed just north of Kanab last night at a small family RV Park because I needed A/C (90F here yesterday!) apple trees all over, as well as a horse and a mule. The very senior guy who checked me in said that his father planted this apple orchard before he (the very senior guy) was born and he grew up growing apples. Now it’s too warm and he said he’s glad he got out of the apple business because he’d be completely broke. He said the first frost used to come second or third week in September but it gets later every year. Nothing even close to a frost yet this year. Sad. But he rolled with the punches and now has this small RV park that’s packed full just about every night. A super nice chatty man with bad eyes, poor hearing, but he just puts on his cowboy hat and keeps trucking along with a smile on his face. 🤠
What a neat experience!
Nice AND we are twins again!
When you look up Salt of the Earth, you’ll see his photo. 😌
Oops, that was for Calypso above.
Hi twin!
Enjoy the north rim! Have not been there in years. And would like to go back to Zion before I die.
I’m here (north rim) and it’s lovely with very few people, although I’m way off in the boonies off a forest service road, tucked into the pines. I hope you get back to Zion, but best do it in late fall/early winter because it’s 93F there today. I’m currently at about 7500ft and it’s 79F in the shade…😅
Wow, 93 in October.
My sister says that with regularity.
Happy Friday everyone!
Taking points for Musc Ravageur today, it has lovely cinnamon.
I almost wore that one!
I know I won’t be alone!
That would have been my first pick but my decant is gone. You smell great!
Thanks! I’ve been through a couple of large decants, now I’m down to samples lol.
oooh – good choice! I forgot it was a contender for this CP 🙂
I’m in vintage Obsession. This doesn’t list cinnamon as a note, just “spices” but I’m guessing it’s in there somewhere so claiming points.
It’s another gorgeous day and I have errands to run.
Today is my dads birthday, and he is 80 years young. Seems like just yesterday we were throwing his surprise 75th, but so much has happened since then that it also feels like forever ago. Time is like that. Monday is my son’s birthday and I honored my dad by giving my son his name as a middle name.☺️
You smell wonderful, vintage Obsession is so good. And that’s a lovely story about your dad’s name for your son.
Thanks ringthing.☺️
Happy Birthday to your dad – you are so lucky to still have him with you, I lost mine when he was just 41 – and to your son as well!
Thanks Laila, I am lucky. He’s very active! He walks daily, logging hundreds of miles every year and plays golf any chance he gets.
I’m sorry you lost your dad so young.
October seems to be a popular month for birthdays!
Happy birthday to your dad as well as to your son!
Thanks hajusuuri! I think it is, I have a few cousins with birthdays this month too. January is cold. And dark.😉
🤣🤣🤣
Birthday wishes to both of the Octoberists in your family! 🎉🎁🎂🎊
Vintage Obsession is amazing.
Thanks Jalapeno! It is! I saw your confession to Donatella. Did you get a vintage bottle? Spray or the little squatty dabber bottle?
The CK Obsession I got was not vintage. Picked it up at the Duty Free store in the Salt Lake City airport. Still smells pretty good to me!
I do have a bit of vintage Obsession, courtesy of AnnE.
Happy Birthday to your Dad and Son!
Thanks lillyjo!
Wearing some OJ Muscat, since someone had mentioned it earlier in the week.
Good enough reason!
Feels like Christmas in SL Baptême du Feu. This is such an unusual fragrance but I love it and it does feel quite festive and cinnamonny😋
Excellent choice! It is unusual *and* it is wonderful!
😊
Love that perfume. I emptied my bottle and haven’t yet replaced it. But I should, probably.
Proud members of the Baptême du Feu fan group!
Count me in! I have a bottle!
Was it you who had the problem with stamps.com? I had a problem with PayPal a while back when they switched over to ShipStation. For whatever irrational reason, I thought I had to subscribe to it AND pay for the postage. I held out for so long that I did not have the ability to mail packages. In any case, besides being corrected ?I read carefully this time), I had to reinstall PayPal and all was well.
I’m glad your problem was resolved. It’s hard to keep up with all of the changes!
I did have problems with stamps.com. It turned out that they were in the middle of revamping their website (right in the middle of the Swapmeet!!!) and now it’s back to normal.
Hello everyone!
I am in Diptyque Eau Capitale for the CP points. The only proof that it has cinnamon is Jessica’s review here on NST, because I don’t detect it 😆 Anyway, it was the only thing I could find for the CP, and I am enjoying the rose very much.
I was feeling a bit under the weather for weeks, and yesterday my sister suggested I did a test for IgM antibodies for covid. So I did and it turned out they were very high, so I must have had it recently. Luckily this time I didn’t lose my sense of smell! I plan to rest a lot this weekend and hopefully the fatigue will go away soon…
Hope you are feeling better soon.
Thanks ringthing!
I hope you can rest over the weekend and feel better soon
I hope we both get well soon!!
Me too!
Hope you’ll soon be 100%.
Glad you didn’t lose your sense of smell! Hope you feel better soon
Thanks everyone! ☺️
Glad you’re feeling better. That Covid sure is sneaky, isn’t it? When I had it a few years ago I didn’t know it til I tested either.
Ugh! What a bummer!
I have not noticed any cinnamon in Eau Capitale either. Get well!
Wearing Phi Une Rose de Kandahar today. Not happy that I had to drag out my down comforter last night. Fall is definitely here were it might reach 65 degrees but it’s in the 40’s at night.
Oh dear! I did add an extra cotton blanket last night but hope I am a good month away from the down comforter, we’ll see.
I am wearing PG Un Crime Exotique and I smell like some kind of pastry. Not sugary, but loaded with spices. I am packing for Japan and making a list of stuff I want to buy there; probably not perfume but nail polish and sunscreen for sure. The extended weather forecast is for showers and temps in the mid to high 70s, so I am thinking it will be muggy. That’s my least favorite weather, when you are all hot and sticky outside. I am looking forward to seeing my sister, we are meeting in Tokyo.
Have a fantastic time and a happy trip.
Have a great trip! ✈️
A sister meet up! That’s the best!
That sounds wonderful, minus the weather. And yes, you must stock up on Japanese sunscreen. Have a great trip!
Have a great trip!
Have a great trip with your sister!
Have a safe and wonderful trip with your sis!
What fun. If you want my shopping list just holler 😉
Safe travels and enjoy meeting up with your sister!
Have a fun and safe trip!
Have fun!
Wearing Theorema today, which has cinnamon. I am rationing it out and don’t know what to try when it is all gone.
Theorema! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. That will be my fragrance tomorrow.
☺️
Triplets!
Twins!
Half a CP point in Aliage, which has nutmeg. But I’m baking chocolate chip cookies with a pinch of cinnamon, so there’s my other half a point!
Baking gets you an extra point in any case 😉
Ambre Narguile for the cp today. I have one of those nice Hermes manufacturers samples (4 mls, I think?). Although I think it is beautiful, I rarely wear it. It’s often somehow overwhelming to me, but working well on this cool rainy morning.
Still fighting my respiratory virus. The nights are the worst — coughing and stuffed up so it’s hard to sleep. But I managed some yoga this morning so I’m feeling more positive.
We just talked to a friend of ours in Tennessee. They are fine, but right next door to a small town that was basically destroyed due to flooding. My heart goes out to all those struggling to pick up the pieces.
Hope things improve for you soon.
Thanks, Kanuka!
Wishing you a restorative sleep tonight, it’s so awful when the coughing and difficulty breathing prevent you from resting when you need it most!
Ambre Narguile is a great choice for today. I feel the same way about it, love it but find it can be overwhelming except on the coldest of days.
Thanks, tulipani. I made some tea and washed my hair, so feeling a bit better.
Hope the yoga ☮️ contributes to a more restful night.🤗
Me, too. Thanks, Laila!
Glad to hear that you are feeling a bit better today. 🤧
Well, we had the wettest weather in over one hundred years and now the city is cut off by road…which isn’t that bad really. Once the surface water drains, and the slips are cleared the highways will open. Part of our city is very low lying and that’s been badly impacted by flooding, lots of houses affected. So, wet. It will start to clear up today. It will be nice to be out of the thick mist that has hidden everything beyond the garden. CP gold star for Dolce Vita, cinnamon note and a burst of light. Might go to a movie later though it’s school holidays which means that 80% of films are animation/ kids which leaves only The Substance or The Joker (2), i.e. grim or grimmer.
Bits of Dunedin do look to be a mess, at least the rain is stopping now.
Hope you continue to stay safe🤞.
Hope the rain lets up for you soon.
I didn’t find anything in my collection other than Rousse that fits the CP and I already wore that so I just went with what I wanted today, which was Indigo Smoke, a favorite. Partly I”m not in the mood for cinnamon because fall is still eluding us here as we’ve got to get through a while yet in the 90’s in our forecast. I do really miss the existence of Autumn as a distinct season like it was in my childhood, complete with crisp days and the smell of fallen leaves everywhere, and bonfires with wienie roasts and toasted marshmallows.
SOTD is POAL which does have cinnamon. Love this scent and it is nice on this fall day.
I didn’t know it had cinnamon, I could have wear that this week… You smell great! Maybe I’ll copy you tomorrow 😊
Beautiful choice.
SOTD is one spray of Babycat.
Going to get a massage so want to be demure.
SOTD is one spray of Babycat.
Going to get a massage so want to be demure.
Very mindful! 😉
And maybe even cutesy! 😇
Yes!
Another warm day here. I’m participating with a drop of Musc Ravageur body oil from a precious decant. I can’t wear to wear a proper spritz of MR when the weather cools.
I have even more perfumes with a cinnamon note than I realised! I wore The Hope from Thameen last night, which is cinnamon, cinnamon and more cinnamon – love it!
I’m thinking of Theorema for this morning, it’s got every spice in there 🙂 .
I have access to three perfumes only while I’m on holidays or I would have worn Diptyque l’Eau or Molto Missoni both heavy on cinnamon instead I sprayed Shalimar Millésime Tonka, I had forgotten how extraordinarily diffusive it is. I like it even more than MVP and it’s saying a lot, wearing it in the warmth of fall in Provence is a treat.
Enjoy your holiday in Provence 🥰
Thank you Nina. Fall is beautiful in Drôme Provençale.
Seems that being in Provence is treating you very well!
I’m lucky to be in such a beautiful region. Everything is very green thanks to an unusually rainy season earlier.
I started with a sample of Nicolai Eau d’Ete because it is a bit warm here today and I wanted a summary cinnamon, but I wasn’t getting much spice from it. Once it faded I moved on to CdG’s Cinnamon Sherbet, which somehow manages to be both cinnamon-spicy and cold. CdG has been quiet the past few years, before that it seems like they had at least one new release every year.
Tea today is Fortnum & Mason’s Afternoon Tea.
That CdG sounds really interesting! Is it one that was re-released a couple years back?
I’m not sure. I got the sample from luckyscent a few years ago, so maybe?
The only thing I have to wear for the CP is Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit and the description says, “spiced with ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon”.
I’m surprised I don’t have more perfume with cinnamon since I love spice fragrances, but maybe it is because I get the fragrance in other ways. In the fall my home fragrances from candles and wax melts are loaded with it. I drink decaf and herbal teas in the evening that usually have it in the autumn and winter. Plus, I get the fragrance every morning also from the Morton & Bassett Organic Cinnamon I sprinkle on my oatmeal.
Happy Cinnamon Roll Day! I didn’t have to think a minute to choose my SOTD for today’s cinnamon cp as woods and spice are my favorite notes for fall. Sweet yet sexy, spicy yet warm and comforting like a hug, my favorite cinnamon roll scent for today is the original Givenchy Organza Indecence – and it’s one of my favorite scents ever. I’ve loved everything about this one (cinnamon, vanilla, woods, patchouli, amber) from the beginning and never tire of it each fall. Luckily I have several bottles as this is one I never tire of!❤️
Our weather here has cooled off somewhat but is still warm and trees and shrubs are still very green, feels more like early-mid September than the first week in October. 🤞it holds out for next week as we’ll be heading up madtowngirl’s way for a brief camping trip to New Glarus State Park hoping to catch some fall bird migration; it’s supposed to be a good place. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to one last concert 🎶 tonight with another one of our favorite local musicians who moved out to Colorado a couple of years ago and returns here for a few gigs in early fall. Jim Green plays his original compositions in a unique style of finger-picking, percussive guitar and is absolutely fascinating to watch in person and a really nice guy as well. I’m not sure where exactly he’s at in Colorado but if you’re anywhere near I strongly encourage you to catch him live if you can. You can check him out at jimgreenmusic.com.
Wishing everyone a beautiful weekend ahead🍁🍂!
It also feels like early September here. Much cooler weather seems to be delayed by at least a month.
It also feels like early September here. Much cooler weather seems to be delayed by at least a month.
It was a beautiful evening here, cool but still, no wind. We sat outside the brewery where Jim performed his magic for 2 hours and it was wonderful. I was comfortable in just a light jacket and never cold. BTW, he’s in Loveland but plays all over CO; catch him if you can; you won’t be disappointed. He plays smooth haunting music as well as riveting percussive stuff.
Interesting! And Loveland isn’t very far away. Thanks for the info.
Ooh, enjoy your camping! If you like beer, be sure to check out new glarus brewing. You can only get spotted 🐄 here in wisconsin!
My next-door neighbors have a second home in the U.P. and travel there frequently returning home thru WI, and they always bring us the Spotted Cow as a thank you. We’ve camped at Governor Dodge many times over the years and enjoyed visiting all the area towns, including New Glarus. When we were in the area last year, we visited the New Glarus Brewery and it is an awesome place to visit (+ the beer is great!) and we’ll definitely be stopping there on this trip.. So, for a change, we’ll be the ones bringing back 🐄 for our neighbors!
Nice!😀
I want to try spotted cow so much!.I keep trying to finagle a work trip to our one facility in Wisconsin, but unfortunately (for me, anyway) they never have any issues that would warrant an in-person visit
Dang! You need to find an excuse to visit!😂
In the summer they have a seasonal brew called ‘Naked’ that I like even better. It’s a bit lighter and really crisp for summer.
SOTD = Kilian Angels’ Share
Love this and yes, I’ve managed to stay true to the CP!

Mini-musings:
– So I have 4 CDs maturing this month but not all at the same time. This could be good or bad but whatever. Yesterday, I stopped by Amboy Savings and I found out something wonderful. So going forward, in addition to the interest being paid out to my linked account, the principal will also be credited to my account upon maturity. This is perfect for me because I may want to move funds around. I’m pretty sure the difference is negligible but one never knows!
– At Whole Foods, in an effort to be helpful…so helpful that instead of bending down to rearrange a package that was almost slipping out of the shelf, the guy USED HIS FOOT 🦶 to move the errant package. Seriously, I would NEVER do this because, FOOD! This is just as bad as people who go barefoot in the plane. Ugh! 😩
Not a fan of Toe-Food.
Seriously …
I just read an article about Whole Foods and their 365 brand, which is mostly made up of imported ingredients from china and other countries around the world, who don’t necessarily follow the “organic” guidelines we do in the US. Here’s an article, but you can dig deeper and find more dirt easily. I think I’d prefer the “toe-food” to the heavy metal Chinese “organic” food…
https://doctorfarrah.com/2024/05/02/fake-organic-food-from-china-is-flooding-u-s-store-shelves-what-you-need-to-know-2/
That’s scary!
People are so gross. There was a time though when people would at least pretend that they weren’t. I miss those days.
I’ve learned not to believe in people who “look” nice.
Ewww!!!
Meaning ewww, food touched by toes.
You of course smell lovely, and yay for favorable options on your matured CDs
I wore Douce Amère yesterday and went with Histoires de Parfums Mata Hari today, a spicy rose with some cinnamon.
Did a lot of driving the past two days and feel kind of exhausted. Glad that tomorrow is Saturday.
PSA: the new solid LUSH perfumes are on the US website. I checked earlier this afternoon. Looks like they might be phasing out the little pots. So if there is one you want, time to get while the getting is good.
Got Fire Weather Warnings now as of lunchtime today. Ugh. Hopefully it isn’t for the entire weekend.
SOTD = Estee Lauder Cinnabar, older version. My bottle is from 2010 and is the cool geometric bottle. It’s been aging in situ quite nicely. Definitely has cinnamon in it.
You smell great Jalapeno.
Are you expecting any rain soon? Stay safe!
Thanks lillyjo!
No rain in the forecast for quite a while here. It’s all going North into Canada. There’s a big honking high pressure system that has set up house right over the Four Corners region.
You smell nice!
Thank you!
Ooh, hopefully the new Lush scents are in the US stores by now. I have to do some returns at the mall this weekend and have been psyching myself up for it with plans to go to Lush afterward
Please report back if you get to LUSH!
Turns out I have only two likely CP candidates:
DelRae Bois de Paradise
& turned up an truly ancient sample of Brandy (remember Brandy, anyone, the perfume named after a horse?)
I went with the known quantity of BdP and I smell delightful.
You smell amazing in one of greatest fragrances from one of the saddest house discontinuations of all perfume time.
truly it was sad when she shut down operations
sotd = laddm solid perfume
I’m CP adjacent in the spice cupboard 😀 the notes say there’s cumin in this one, tho I don’t smell it.
If ever I buy another FB it might just have to be laddm. 💕
You smell SO good today!
Nice. I don’t do solids but I have the liquid form of this.
Sotd is La Danza Delle Libellule.
I tried the new Killian Old Fashion. It’s nice. It reminds me of Mugler Cuir Impertinent.
Then it must be good!
Oh, I’m late again but OMG that cinnamon roll picture you chose is so enticing, Robin. I knew I’d forgotten something in the midweek grocery run. 😉
I’m in the gorgeous L de Lolita Lempicka today for the cp. I just never get tired of this one. I’ve also now worn at least 3 perfumes by Maurice Roucel this week – this one, Musc Ravaguer, and Labdanum 18. That man knows his cinnamon!
