It's Hump Day, plus National Spumoni Day and Count Basie’s birthday. What fragrance are you wearing?
Me: day 2 of vetiver, plus I'm taking community project points, in Lalique Encre Noire.
Reminder: 8/23 will be Cypress Friday...wear a fragrance with a cypress note.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello.
Sotd is Bobbi Brown Beach. It might be raining out but in my mind I am at the beach living the summer high life.
I also have a batch of fudgy coconut brownies waiting for me. Heck, I’ll even have some ice cream with the brownies. Definitely turning out to be a treat-myself-day!
Those brownies sound amazing! Do you have a recipe?
Here’s the recipe:
https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/fudgy-coconut-brownies
Real easy to make too!
Yum! Thank you 🙂
Ice cream and coconut brownies sounds as good as the beach anyway…enjoy!
Thanks! 😊
Oh, those brownies sound delicious!
Can’t go wrong with brownies.
It’s unusually cold all of a sudden and it’s raining.
I was craving clean musc scents today, I am wearing il Profvmo musc bleu layered with No.5 body lotion.
I will be traveling this Sunday, getting ready for that.
I have No. 5 body cream on today.
I’m wearing CdG Black edt, from a decant. First time to try it, and I like it so far. Might be more of a cool weather scent, but I like the spicy black pepper.
You smell wonderful and you just gave me the idea to try layering Black with CdG Black Pepper to really spice it up!
This is in my top ten.
You smell great!
and oh that black licorice note!
Taking CP points this morning in CdG Sugi.
Went with a proven Hot Weather Friendly Scent- Ninfeo Mio. Did a little bit of doodling around the outside of the camper this morning and now back inside with A/C blasting! It’s only 930 am and that sun will scorch you to a crisp. I think it’ll top 90F again today…😓
Apropos of nothing, I was doing city searches via Google Earth in France in the towns of Bordeaux, Toulouse, Cahors, and La Roque Gageac looking for perfume shops to haunt on my down time. Quite a few within walking distance of my hotel in Bordeaux so very much looking forward to perusing their offerings. I’m sure I’ll come back with something or other. I’m expecting big things from these stores because after all, it IS France. 🇫🇷 I’m hoping I have the Luck of Daniel on my flights but I’m (kind of) prepared for anything…
It’s slowed down here at the campground considerably since the kids went back to school. I’m sure Labor Day Weekend will be our last hurrah and the final opportunity to watch “Campers Behaving Badly!” Thankfully, I had some very nice folks yesterday so hoping the rest of the season is just like that.
Be well, y’all!
Oopsie! Wrong spot, sorry SheriG! 🤦🏻♀️
No worries! Maybe Robin can move your post for you.
Nope, sorry, I can delete but not move.
ooh, nice, and if those towns have flea markets you might even find some vintage frags!
You smell great SheriG!
Wearing Juliette Has A Gun’s Ode to Dullness, a fluffy modern sandalwood rubbed with anise. It’s as simple as the name suggests but it’s also very pleasant and good to wear in the ongoing heat as it isn’t heavy or sweet.
Sounds good!
Fun name, and rather the opposite to some of their previous releases (e.g. Lady Vengeance)
Lush Jungle body spray for the CP points.
We are completely fridgeless for the time being. Our old fridge was taken for disposal today, and the new one will arrive tomorrow. I admit I am nervous – the new fridge is a modern one with electronic systems etc. This is cool, but makes me more worried about power outages. Although it does have built-in surge protection, I will need to look into this too.
Glad it will be up and running soon. Have you been able to use a cooler or something for your perishables in the mean time?
Well, we used ice-packs while they lasted. And the fridge still provided some cold in the freezer until this afternoon. We don’t have a cooler, so we essentially switched to the foods that do not need refrigeration.
Did you get the type where you can enter ingredients and the fridge will recommend a recipe? I think that is fabulously cool!
No, nothing that complex. The old one has this condensation-based static cooling system and mechanical controls (a knob). And you had to defrost it manually 1-2 times a year. This one has a No Frost technology (cooling is done by fans, no defrosting needed) and a small display to enter the temperature for the fridge and freezer. You all probably have something like that.
It has Smart Diagnostics – troubleshooting using a phone app. Nothing else smart, I think.
FWIW, I have never needed any kind of surge protection on kitchen appliances. They seem to be more robust than stereos, TVs, and computers.
Your new refrigerator sounds a lot more sophisticated than any I have ever had!
Well, the technician said that we can either get the same type that we had (static cooling) or a fridge with “No Frost”.
For the first type, I needed to examine the fridge – he explained what to look for to avoid getting a fridge that would have to be replaced in 4-5 years. According to the technician, nowadays a good static cooling fridge is hard to find. There is only one shop with fridges near me, the assortment is limited, I went there but did not find a fridge matching the criteria.
The second option (“No Frost”) is much easier to find. I ordered one online.
Unfortunately, all of this happened in the middle of a heatwave, so I had to choose quickly.
Happy Humpday!
Byredo Accord Oud today. It was my first Byredo fb purchase way back when, and I still love and enjoy it thoroughly!
XO’s
You smell fabulous!
Thank you!And yes I do!😉🌹
PSA in case anyone is interested. St Clair Scents is having an end of summer sale $20 off purchase of $150 with code SAVE$20
You are such an enabler; however, I do have everything I need, for now.
Oh! An excuse to get that Casablanca I have not got yet! You get the enabler prize! And Thsnjs!
I got a travel Casablanca and samples of several other things. One I wanted was out of stock, so I will have to go back. LOL.
Copying Robin today in Encre Noire. This is such a great fragrance, the one that made me appreciate Vetiver.
And YOU smell amazing as well!Encre Noire is so good!
Hey twin!!
Ashoka today and I noticed that it has vetiver in the basenotes, so I’m (sort of) joining allo and Robin. I think my 4 month old granddaughter is coming to visit again today (along with her dad, our oldest son). It’s so amazing to see him with her; he’s really good. Wasn’t he just 3 years old the other day?
Hey cousin!
Have a lovely visit, I am jealous…a 4 month granddaughter is marvelous.
Thank you – she is pretty marvelous!
Aw, enjoy the family time!
Thank you — it was lots of fun! 😀
SOTD is Chanel No 5 EDT.
Hope it was a good day Kris.
I’m wearing Zoologist “Rabbit” from a sample. I like it – it’s fun to smell like a cookie – but so far it’s not a “love” for me. I’ll give it another try on another day.
I have to go back to my Zoologist samples. So far have found them mostly fun / not love.
My dogs are starting their shedding phase in preparation for winter. So I had to vacuum enough dog hair for another dog. Wearing Coco Mademoiselle today.
Perfect fragrance for vacuuming dog hair 🙂
SOTD = Commodity Book
I had to double-check that we are doing cypress. When I checked Fragrantica (I know I know), I have 2 weeks’ worth of perfumes I could wear, but won’t because I can only take so much cypress!
Commodity Book, of which I have a travel spray, has cypress! I should wear this more often.

In other news, here’s an article on Costco. I go perhaps 8x per year (ok, could be more) and each time I do spend over $100 and it is to buy staples. It’s a good write-up on its philosophy.
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/20/dining/costco.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Ek4.ApO_.AGRxGo8R2M8H&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I usually go to Costco a couple of times a month. Plus, they often have the cheapest gas in my area.
I have never gotten the gas there!
I’ll probably get out my Encre Noir on Friday.
Meanwhile I’m wearing Drôle de rose layered over Arlésienne body oil. They work great together!
Oh, I bet that is pretty.
I’m wearing Jessica simpson fiend, I got a giant bottle at tj maxx for under $10. Its one of those “chemical” scents like not a perfume or glossier you. Great for the office!
I have not smelled it but the name cracks me up 🙂
Plus the bottle is totally over the top! A lot of people seem personally offended by it, but I don’t mind 🙂
Oh, the bottle definitely cracks me up too.
I’m getting ready for my holiday trip to Turkey. Flying there tomorrow.
Not taking any perfume, will try some local scents I might be able to wear.
Have a safe and fun trip!
Have a great trip!
Bon Voyage!🕺🏼
Have a great time in Turkey! I hope you find some local treasures there.
Safe travels to you!
Enjoy your trip!
I am in Tam Dao today, my current getting things done favorite. I trimmed up adorable hobbies hair, and we trotted off to the little rural post office to get passport photos and send off a lot of money and forms. The passport photos are atrocious, we both look like we have gotten off long distance red-eye flights that encountered bad weather, so I suppose no one will have any trouble believing we are we while traveling. Now we wait til they come. Such fun!
I just tried on a sample of this today, and it is rather nice.
Yes it is exactly right for some days.
Tam Dao is on my cypress list for this week 🙂
Taking a break after a 2-hour meeting (ugh).
SotD: vintage Ivoire de Balmain parfum
The meeting was awful, but I smell fabulous.
Indeed you do!
Thank goodness for perfume!
indeed!
Vintage Ivoire de Balmain is wonderful stuff!
You do smell fabulous!
I’m wearing SL’s Fille en Aiguilles today. It has a strong pine note, so I’m CP adjacent, pine and cypress are both conifers 🙂 .
Close enough!
I’m in Un Jardin en Mediterranee for the cypress note. Well, and because I love it. With a high of 73, this will be the warmest day of the week in the PNW. It looks like we will get some more summery temps again next week. I’m not really ready to say goodbye to summer yet so I’m looking forward to a week of warmth again. Yesterday I wore Chanel Paris-Edimbourg, also for the cp. I took this Friday off since work has been stressful lately, and I need a break. It can’t come soon enough!
Your SOTD is my favorite of the Jardin series.
Mine too, followed closely by Apres la Mousson. I know the latter isn’t popular, but I love it and find it so refreshing in summer. My partner really likes when I wear it too.
Yay, that makes tomorrow your Friday!
Yes!
It’s sunny and cold and the silver eyes are crowding around the sugar feeder, about thirty of them. I’m wearing A Chaque Instant ( Pont des Arts) which is a fresh floral-woody scent. It has a walk in the forest vibe, though no cedar. In fact, more like an European forest with anemones and bluebells than a NZ mulchy, mossy one. I really like it. Thanks Gaynor for the sample! Hope your tests went well.
You always have the best flora & fauna descriptions–think you need these placemats (too expensive, but quite appealing)

Beautiful, thanks.
I’m wearing BDK Rouge Smoking today. I am doing some touch up painting on the baseboards where a workman braced his foot and scraped off the finish. Then I’m making Pad Thai for dinner and reading the rest of the day. Life is good!
Great attitude!
Commando today.
I have had a really nasty headache for a significant chunk of the day, and all the usual tricks I use haven’t really worked so far. So no perfume, music, or bright lights for me until things calm down.
This sucks.
Feel better soon Jalapeno!
Thank you lillyjo. Still off my feed, and thinking it might be an early night tonight.
Get some rest.
Hope you’re feeling a bit better, Jalapeno.
Thanks Gail. I can tolerate some light now.
Hope you feel better soon!
Working on it still, but feeling somewhat human now.
Ugh – hope you are all well by tomorrow!
Thanks springpansy. Looks like a night’s rest was the Special Sauce that I needed.
That totally sucks! May the calm around you bring calm to your head and help to release the ache.
Thanks allo.
Checking in from work wearing Shalimar MI. I can’t wait to have a day off tomorrow.
Smelling great, lillyjo (I almost wore that too). Enjoy your day off tomorrow! Hopefully there’s nothing on the agenda.
Just a few errands and laundry, but it’s better than being here.
You smell wonderful. Do all or nothing tomorrow! BTW, I tried the new LVEB flanker and you are absolutely right about the raspberry overdose. I got a manufacturer’s sample and will try again.
Oh I’m glad you agree. I will try it again too, maybe in cooler weather.
Hope your day off tomorrow is a good one!
Thanks Jalapeno. I’m hoping for uneventful and relaxing.
I was in Heure Exquise again today because smelled so good yesterday. It’s so much cooler out; I’m enjoying it immensely!
Heure Exquise smells great in a lot of different weather conditions, IIRC.
Beautiful name for a beautiful scent. You smell great. 😊
sotd = Mon Precieux Nectar
From a decant I’ve been hoarding for years. So lovely I wore it yesterday too. Wear it or lose it. 😊 Thank you for your perfumed inspiration, NST!
Wear it or lose it is the right attitude!
Yardley Exquisite Peony
