Wednesday scent of the day 8/14

Posted by Robin on 14 August 2024 153 Comments

It’s Hump Day and National Creamsicle Day. What fragrance are you wearing?

Repeating myself from yesterday: I am on a road trip this week and will be behind in all the usual ways (posting will be light, I will be even slower than my usual slow to read comments and attend to emails). My fragrance, possibly for the whole week, is my DIY lotion with blood orange & ylang ylang.

Reminder: 8/16 will be Mood Changer Friday...wear a perfume that instantly changes your mood. Suggested by pixel; possibly a repeat.

And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Daim Blond, which makes me feel both elegant and comfortable, like I’m lying on a beautiful, soft sofa in a very nice apartment.

Today, I came across this joke, which, although a day late, I’ll post for the lefties of NST:

“If the left half of the brain controls the right half of the body, then only left-handed people are in their right mind.” 🤣🤣

    Hello.
Rainy day today so I am in JM Rain & Angelica. Somehow I am getting wafts of Alien!? I can only guess it’s the aging of the juice (at least it hasn’t gone off and it’s 10 years old!).
Went to Harrod’s site to browse and guess what? Advent calendars are out for pre-order! It’s tooooo early! I bet Santa hasn’t even got his list sorted out this time of year.

    It’s another gorgeous morning here!🌞
I’m in Santal Smash from BeautyPie. This was a blind buy, added to the order of another perfume from them that I love. Donatella would approve, their perfumes are cheap as chips for members, less than $40 for 50 mls. Anywho, I was hoping this would be a dupe for LL but it’s actually more about lavender and less about sandalwood. I see some reviewers complaining about that on fragrantica, but I like lavender, so no complaints from me. It’s very soft and a nice work friendly perfume.

Call me Mr. Lucky. I’m at 37,000 feet, and I’ve got the whole row to myself.😎
Since no one is around, I’m confident that my one discreet spray of Le Lion under my tee shirt won’t annoy anyone. So it’s just me and Chanel and podcasts for the next several hours.
    Happy Wednesday, everyone.😊

I hear you. I flew JFK-Helsinki (coach/economy, as usual)in a nearly empty plane last year (it was the end of January), and had all three seats to myself. I slept most of the way, which is unprecedented for me. I had almost no problem with jet lag upon arrival, and continue to wonder how I’d feel about flying if I had that much space on every flight.

Hope your flight was smooth and your trip is great!

    Hello all!

Sleeping in after a full weekend of studying for my final. The final is done and I got the highest score in the class. So I’m thinking to be lazy today. Jicky isn’t mad about it and he is plastered to my side.

I’m in last night’s Like This still but thinking of wearing Ôponé if or when I get up and dressed for the day. 😂

    Have a great day everyone!

Gorgeous day today after some very hellacious storms last evening. The wind was unbelievable. I stepped out of my camper to take out the trash and looked up to see a line of a black clouds marching directly toward us- low, scudding, and murderous. Cue the Ride if Valkyries music! The wind hit like a solid concrete wall and no joke, for the next two hours doggo and I were worried we were about become a modern day Dorothy and Toto! 🌪️

As for perfume, today I went with En Voyage Zelda. It’s a showstopper! This one is the War and Peace of perfumes. A long story told expertly with light and shadow, joy and sorrow, the optimism of youth and the bitterness of age. From start to finish it’s an amazing ride so strap on your seatbelt and prepare to be stunned. I guess I might like it a little…😉

Robin, hope your travels are trouble free!

    Hello!

Just wearing a very light, honey oatmilk body spray.

Weather has been more bearable, so yay. The worst of summer is over:). Working on getting some packages out and then getting some Mexican from a little local spot. They have pretty good chips n chipotle salsa and a good variety of different taco options, I got the zucchini, bean and cheese ones last time.

Hope everyone is having a lovely Wednesday! ❤️ 🌹

I loved your post, Daniel. I have Le Lion and I’ll wear it once the humidity breaks here. I find the Cologne has presence, and lasting power, but maybe get some on your shirt collar, if you can, to help with longevity. It’s a beautiful scent – as perfect as having the whole row to yourself on a plane 🙂

Great photo, love Pied Stilts. Watched some yesterday when I drove out to the smaller, suburban library I like at the historic ( now container and cruise ship) port. They make a nice noise, a bit like a bird imitating a small dog ( yap or yip). Anyway, it’s still early, around five, and the stars are shining so I’m happy. Wearing Amouage Overture Woman which is an apple brandy wake-up, probably something that Hobbits would wear.

It really is if I don’t spray too heavy. If I spray it too close to my skin or if I do many sprays, that musk starts to turn on me. I have that problem with several perfumes.

It seems that a lot of my perfumes smell better if I spray from a distance, too. It also reduces the chance of skin irritation.

She published with a publishing house, she sent her poems to several publishers, she got accepted by the one she wanted the most.

I’ve heard that one mentioned so many times, but I never tried it. Since it’s dc’d now, I thought I would save myself the trouble. I’m glad you have it to enjoy!

Fresh strawberries, small but so fragrant. I picked YR Ispahan today, I haven’t worn it in forever, I have two little 30ml bottles, the vintage and a later special re-edition, both pristine but dab-on, and oh the glory, YR from the past had such amazing scents and the greatest perfumers, Ispahan is an amber from Maurice Roucel, very resinous. Tonight it’s vintage Magie Noire, I wear the original Magie more often.

Every time I see Magie Noir mentioned, I think of Halloween. It has the perfect name for it.

Magie noire was my signature scent in high school. I’ll have to test it again this fall and see what I think so may decades on.

I hope your road trip is going well, Robin!

I tried to go for a creamsicle scent today, but I didn’t quite get there. I unearthed an old Ava Luxe sample called to Citrine because I thought it might be creamsicle but it’s more citrus and musk with a hint of vanilla. Still a nice, calming thing to smell during a busy work day.

I went through my bbw lotions and mists and found one I forgot I had. Magnolia Charm. I really like this one because it is very floral and perfumey. I matched it with Chloe Love Story eau Sensuelle. Work was busy as usual but I got to leave a half hour early.

I had to smile when you said you went through your BBW lotions and mists. I had all of mine under the sink in my bathroom and my husband was saying it was “getting pretty crowded under there”. I decided to get a fairly large box to put the ones I wasn’t using in, and I filled the box. I think I have enough until I die.

Lol! I’ve really been trying to use them more. When I get tired of a lotion, I bring it to work for everyone to use as a hand cream. The other day though, I found one of them sitting on the shelf as if for sale! Someone must have thought it was one of our products. Lol.
