It's Hump Day and National Tequila Day. Birthdays: Amelia Earhart, Zelda Fitzgerald, Jennifer Lopez. What fragrance are you wearing?
For the 1976 Stones song Memory Motel, inspired by the motel of the same name in Montauk, I'm in Hermès Eau des Merveilles. (I wanted to be in Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu to match the song's nostalgia, but I can't find it, and maybe I no longer have any.)
Reminder: 7/26 is Mick Jagger's birthday. Scent a Rolling Stones song, or scent the man himself, or do whatever you want with the theme.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I’m wearing Acqua Decima today.
Happy Wednesday PriscillaE!
I love Acqua Motu, I might have a bottle somewhere, i used to wear lots of CSP scents, like Vanille Banane, Vanille abricot, cristal de musc and the one with milky notes.
I am in Merchant of Venice Tuberosa today!!
I love it too and could swear I have a bottle. At the moment can only find L’eau du Gouverneur & Vanille Banane.
Layering Peony Blush Suede with Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
I smell really really good.
Today is my last day at the library until September as I am taking a month long leave. I will miss NYPL, but I know the lions will hold down the fort 😉
Glad you like that combination😊
I do!! 🫶🏻
The Rolling Stones song of the day – Angie – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWRr03VcA-0
I wanted a scent that is pretty and romantic but also a bit sad. Eventually, I chose Goutal Le Chevrefeuille. Many people probably think of it as a happy scent, and it kind of is. But I believe there’s an undertone of melancholy and delicate fragility in it.
Le Chevrefeuille is lovely and complex. You smell wonderful!
That is interesting, it is happy to me! But you do smell great and it’s all personal, right?
Exactly. It is not really sad, kind of quietly happy, without exuberance, or “so happy I could cry” happy. And I think these happy emotions have a bit of sadness mixed in. I hope it makes sense.
Yep!
“Angie” was always a sad song to me, no doubt about it.
I am scent twins with Robin in Eau des Merveilles. Also, used some citrus shower gel and lotion to increase the smell of orange a bit.
Hey twin!
Hello all!
Having a rainy week which is really inhibiting my long walks with Jicky. There was some flooding on my route to my part-time job (where I go to study when the library is closed) that I don’t remember flooding when I lived in the area.
Exam one of two down today. Unfortunately I snoozed for an hour instead of studying but I did still get a B. This next one should be harder but there’s a possibility it will be dropped if I bomb!
I’m in Livre Blanche by Zara, a calming cool musk that’s perfect with the rain. I honestly think this is a repackaging of IUNX Eau Blanche with maybe a bit of a downgrade in materials, but it hits the same notes. It’s like a wikicommons picture versus the real work, but I’m happy to have it!
Have a great day, everyone!
I haven’t smelled IUNX Eau Blanche but Un Livre Blanc reminds me of IUNX Talc.
Oh they’re similar, but Eau Blanche doesn’t have the fantastic ambrette of Talc.
Hey, a B on a test is not horrible at all! 😉
Seriously, especially when you add the hour of sleep!
Very necessary, considering I accidently signed myself to start my radio shift at midnight! 🙂
I know, but I’m always working for an A!
The Stones song ‘Gimme Shelter’ immediately came to mind when I saw the CP. “…a storm is threatening”, pretty much sums up things these days. I’m wearing Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt and hoping the storm doesn’t come to shore.
I join you in wishing 🙂
No points for me yesterday. But today, I just now realized, I’m accidentally CP-compliant in Cape Heartache, which I am pairing with Angie. Mr. G thinks that’s a bit lame, but I think it works.
Song twins!
Hi twin! Great song.
I think your song + perfume pairing is a good one!
You tell Mr. G this is a perfume blog and even lame attempts at joining the community project absolutely get points. There are enough hard things in life already 🙂
I’m enjoying another sample sent to me by fellow NSTer Tulipani – Vetiver Oriental from Serge Lutens, a soft, exotic take on vetiver. I’m a big SL fan, so it’s a real treat to try these unfamiliar (to me) fragrances from the house.
You smell amazing!
Thank you!😊
All due to the generosity of Tulipani here on NST.
Daniel, I’m so happy to hear you’re enjoying those Lutens!
There used to be a lot of talk about SL Vetiver Oriental here at NST.
I’m in Jasmin et Cigarette for the CP…
When I’m watchin’ my TV
And a man comes on and tells me
How white my shirts can be
But he can’t be a man ’cause he doesn’t smoke
The same cigarettes as me…
And PSA – Beautyhabit 20% off $100+ fragrance this week – 20FRAGRANCE (some restrictions apply)
Very clever!
I can’t get no!
Satisfaction!
Hey hey hey! That’s what I say!
I’m wearing Fils de Dieu du riz et des agrumes. I’ve yet to find a link to the Stones.
I feel like I could have come up with one for you if I’d just gotten here earlier in the day! Too tired now.
Currently in line at Walmart to make a return. I hate it when the substitutions are absolutely garbage and waiting in a long line to make a return. Then it’s to get my grandmother’s old couches out of her house and to the curb. Wearing Coco Mademoiselle edt today.
Glad you smell great Dawn, those are not fun chores!
Vanille Banane from my travel spray. As summer as a Pina Colada at a beachside bar watching a beautiful tropical sunset framed by palm trees while listening to steel drums..🍹🌴 🦜
About to go sweat to death because this part time job has morphed into a full-time, (more) drama filled job. Several of the folks I work with are absolutely wonderful people that I will miss when summer is done. Then, there are some others I really wish I could jettison (forcefully!) straight to the moon! That’s the way it goes I guess…
Yes, mostly, although I must admit that I’ve never had such great colleagues as I do in my current job.
I’m happy for you! When you have a great group of people to work with it makes any job 100% more enjoyable. I had a job like that once, a long time ago. Best job in my life and not because of the pay, which was mediocre, but because the people were funny, talented, caring, and smart.
I haven’t ever heard of a job that was without drama in one form or another.
Yeah, that’s an absolute fact. I just find it so draining…maybe I’m the one with the problem…😅
Hey Deva! Regarding your question on packing cubes, I do have the one that compresses although there is no brand attached to it. I have 3 other sets so I know they work for me. I don’t believe there are empty spaces.
Ok, thanks for your input! I’ll scope out some compression ones on Amazon.
Hello.
The weather is too hot for me to function. I chose from my “when in doubt” stash and went for Miss Dior Original.
The internet shopping god is working extra efficiently. I placed my order 2 hours ago and I just received an alert saying it’s being delivered!
Ha, I almost never use Amazon same day delivery — it makes me feel guilty even when it is free — but I did today also.
I’m at the gate at the airport waiting to board. There is a plane here so I’m optimistic. We’ll see! I’m wearing Delina but very lightly applied, as I don’t like to be obnoxious to fellow passengers.
I hope you have a good trip and I’m glad you’re feeling better.
You smell wonderful! Hope you get off ok.
Safe Travels.
Have a great trip!
Bon voyage!
I was thinking of the Nicholas Roeg movie Performance from the late 1960s which stars Mick Jagger as a reclusive rock star who lives in a dilapidated but decadent house ( with Anita Pallenberg and another woman, whose name I’ve forgotten). They’re visited by a gangster who is hiding out and it’s very trippy, with drugs, nudity and cross-dressing. It’s a cool film, about identity – but edgy and intense, and confusing. I’m still wearing Datura Noir which works well. I think SL is a good Jagger match.
Lots of rabbits doing rabbit antics in the graveyard at the moment, saw five yesterday up to mischief that may or may not make people turn in their graves. Definitely a spring thing. And strangely warm, with a foehn wind making it 17C yesterday.
Great scent and I think it would be a good Jagger match.
I always wanted to see that movie.
Excellent, and I have never seen that movie. That reminded me of the footage of Jagger in Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo, that got cut from the final film because the movie took too long and Jagger had to leave to go on tour. It is in the documentary Burden of Dreams, which I have not seen in eons and eons but if I was clever I would come up with a fragrance to match.
I’m starting to think about spring already, but it’s not spring temperatures, so I’m wearing the very warming Amber Eccentrico.
I’m already thinking about spring too!🌷
Smoothie was fresh strawberries instead. Today I picked l’Occitane Rose 4 Reines which has such a pretty back story of four girls who went on to become queens and it has real rose essence and tonight it’s Dior Homme Intense.
Roses 4 Reines was lovely. I regret not getting a bottle when I could have.
So it goes.
L’Occitane sure had some good scents that got discontinued, there are some rose vintage Yves Rocher perfumes that are lovely too, Rose Absolue and Cantate.
It’s a busy week for me, having to shuttle my son to camp. Thankfully it’s his only camp this summer, and he’s otherwise quite self-sufficient.
No CP for me, but I have something in mind for Friday and I think the weather will cool enough for it then. Yesterday I wore No 5 l’eau for meetings in the office, and today it’s Infusion de Gingembre.
Anyone already receiving emails about advent calendars ready for pre-orders?! Yikes! Waay too early.
Oy! I saw something about Advent Calendars about a week ago from Dandelion Chocolates!
You smelled great on No.5 L’Eau!
I’ve been getting emails from Vosges about their limited edition Advent Calendar.
SOTD = L’Occitane Immortelle de Corse
Lovely and of course, discontinued. This did not stay on the shelves too long!

In other news, I forgot to mention that I dropped off two bags of stuff yesterday at the local Green Drop. More to be done for sure!
In more other news, the New York Times had an article recently about the use of paper checks. Perhaps it was written up when Target announced it was no longer accepting check as a form of payment? That’s like not accepting cash anymore! I still use checks. Do you?
https://www.nytimes.com/2024/07/24/business/paper-check-payment-fraud-scam.html?unlocked_article_code=1.9k0.pXvd.5ZQkVJYMifcS&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
I still use checks.
After my own ❤️!
I still use checks. I am not at all interested in paying extra for the service fees everyone seems to use for things like utility payments and rent.
Seriously! I would definitely rather pay cash than use credit card if there’s a surcharge. I don’t normally bring checks with me when I go out but I probably should.
I use checks for most of my bills and my nail gal will only take cash or checks so that is how I pay her as well. I always bring them with me as my billfold has a place for the checks and register.
You smelled great today, love that one and wish I’d bought a bottle.
I still use checks but rarely, and I have not carried my checkbook around with me for some years. I mostly use my bank’s bill paying thingie.
I tried to pay cash for a GP visit this week and they told me they no longer took cash. Ha.
And most banks no longer take change…
Yea, I still use checks. Rarely, but I do use them.
I’m in Molyneux Quartz today.
One of these days I will open up my bottle of Quartz! I keep getting distracted.
It’s such a good one!
I’m wearing Woman In Gold.
I was half thinking of wearing this today! I hope you are having fun on vacation.
Woman in Gold is such a nice scent!
I needed something bright and happy today. I am wearing Fidji. My match to Mick is he can afford to buy an island. Lol.
Funny! 😂😂
Haha! 🤣
Love it.
Good one!
Very clever and you smell great.
Yet another day of horrible air quality here. Between the summer ozone, and wildfire smoke from 6 other states plus Canada, it’s gross outside. The sky hasn’t looked right for a while now.
SOTD = back in L’Eau de Chloe (the green one). Thanks to Vee for her detective work on the 2 L’eau perfumes!
Oh the green one! That’s a unicorn now.
I hope the air quality improves.
I hope that firefighters get a handle on all those wildfires. That will help a lot.
The ozone formation is a stubborn issue that Colorado has been trying to get under control for at least 30 years. No one is quite sure what is causing it. The obvious solutions haven’t put much of a dent in the problem.
Are you high up that the bad air seems to converge where you live?
Not high up at all as far as Colorado elevations are concerned. But the prevailing winds blow stuff up against the Rocky Mountains and it has no place to go.
Oh yes, Vee explained very well and was able to answer my question. Enjoy your bottle.
