Arquiste A Grove by the Sea ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 19 June 2024 12 Comments

Niche line Arquiste will launch A Grove by the Sea, a new unisex green fig fragrance, in July.

Picture a sunny island in the Adriatic, a small harbor with stone houses and fig and olive groves, surrounded by verdant hills of Mediterranean pine tree, strings of cypress and wild herbs throughout. A window into an evergreen, aromatic landscape of Adriatic fig, dried pine needles, wild rosemary, thyme and the subtle, nutty scent of olive oil.

***

August 1508, Lopud Island, Adriatic Sea.

Lopud is an evergreen island with lush fig and olive groves by the sea. From the port, dotted with Renaissance stone villas, the scent of fig and crushed olives is so strong that the salty sea breeze carries it beyond, towards forests of Mediterranean pine and cypress. Above, ancient chapels overlooking the harbor like sentinels are overgrown with wild thyme, fennel and rosemary.

A Grove by the Sea was developed by perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. Additional notes include fleur de sel accord, clementine, fir balsam and red clay.

Arquiste A Grove by the Sea is available now for pre-order, $205 for 100 ml Eau de Parfum.

What a gorgeous green! I have Boutonniere, and the bottle itself feels so nice in the hand.

Oh my, the green really is pretty. They added a sample of this to the discovery set of five floral fragrances I got a few weeks ago, and I’m afraid I really don’t like it. I do get the salt but little fig and there is something in it I find repulsive–it’s sour and spiky. It must be the pine and/or balsam, or maybe some of the herbs (I’m thinking right now that fennel is in the list too). It’s rather unusual. And it’s VERY salty. Definitely one to try before you buy.

What a shame you didn’t care for it! What was your favorite so far?

L’Or de Louis and Flor y Canto. I bought a bottle of the latter! If you buy a discovery set for $40 then you can get a FB for $40 off!

Fun! I really liked Nanban and Boutonniere, but never pulled the trigger.

Those two sound nice Calypso. I have never tried them but might have to try the discovery set. Did you get the floral set?
