It's Friday, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, and World Baking Day. Our community project for today: do what you like with the Baking Day theme. You could wear a gourmand, or you could wear any perfume with any ingredient you like to bake with (or eat), or ?? Be as creative as you like.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
The only thing I bake with any regularity these days is granola, so I've done ingredients from my granola recipe all week. Today I'm on the almonds with Marni Rose.
Reminder: 5/24 is International Tiara Day aka Queen Victoria's birthday. Wear your perfume equivalent of a tiara.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I brought you all some coffee to go with your baked goods – wearing Legendary Fragrances Barista.
Thanks for all hugs and support yesterday. We had no power between 8 pm and 5 am, and this will probably continue for a while. But compared to what people in and near Kharkiv are experiencing now, this is nothing, of course.
I think you are very brave! I’ve never tried the perfume you are wearing today, but I love the smell of coffee even though I hardly ever drink it. The only coffee fragrance I’m familiar with is Akro Awake.
Stay safe and fragrant!
Glad you are safe and hope you continue to stay that way🤞. I admire the strength and resilience of your people so much!🤗. And your fragrance sounds wonderful – I love coffee , both to drink and to wear.
I’m glad to hear that you are safe, what a difficult time for everyone in Ukraine.
I’ll take a cup, thank you! I hope you have a peaceful night.
Wishing you calm and may peace come again soon.
Be safe and be well, Glannys. Same goes for your Mom and sweet Kora kitty.
Managed to pull out Serge Lutens Arabie. Wearing that because of all the spices.
Arabie was on my list for this week but I didn’t get to it. You are smelling great.
That is a beauty. You smell marvelous, Dawn.
Hello and tgif!
I am channeling a bakery today. My left arm wearing Bois Farine wafting bread flour and puffy dough, is the workspace/kitchen. My right, in Jeux de Peau, is the storefront, with all sorts of breads fresh from the oven. I smell so good, I want to pop myself into a toaster and spread on some butter.
Can’t wait to see how delicious everyone will be today!
Great description and hilarious about popping yourself in the toaster, happy888cat. I have to agree that you do smell great!
Journey Woman
Library 📚
Hope it was a good library day!
Happy Friday to all! I’m CP compliant with I Profumi di Fiorenze Vaniglia del Madagascar, which evokes eating a luscious creamy cakey bakey spicy vanilla dessert while sitting outside somewhere tropical surrounded by intoxicating ylang ylang flowers. Years ago, I swapped for partial bottles of this and IPDF Ambra di Nepal and they are so lovely, I cherish them and the MUA memories they bring back of those feverish early swapping days.
Feverish is the word! Remember how a new niche perfume would be constantly discussed on the fragrance board of, we would trade samples to try anything new. That was a fun time.
Yes I do!!
You smell wonderful!!
Thank you Apsara
I remember IPdF being wildly popular back then, especially Ambra de Nepal. Those were such fun times, and I still miss the Swap page!
Me too AnnE
DeniseH, I miss those times, too! So glad a few of us are still here chatting. 🙂
Me too Jessica.
I too have an ancient bottle of Ambra di Nepal! It’s not from a swap, but I’m 100% sure I was enabled by MUA. Ha! I never wear it but can’t bear to let it go.
Same here!
I have those same two, from the early 2000’s. Happy memories of the early days of niche and MUA.
I agree with you and others that I really loved those MUA days and all that swapping. That was such a fun time of community and exploration. I still have and adore my iPdF Ambra del Nepal bottle. I wonder if I still have a sample of Vaniglia. I remember liking it.
I had a bunch of possibilities for today but I decided to try Poets of Berlin for the blueberry and lemon. Back when I loved to bake, I often made blueberry lemon cake. I am liking PoB so far.
Had a great time with our daughter yesterday. She had a bunch of clothes to gets rid of and lots of things fit me, yay! I had nothing for summer but now I do.
Yay! That’s sounds like a win-win day!🙌
My mom and I always swapped clothes, nice to get something new without having to buy.
Whoo hoo on the new to you summer wardrobe!
Sitting at the City Airport in Toronto waiting for my flight to board (in half an hour) and smelling pretty good if I may say so in Givenchy Pi, mostly a collection of base notes grounded by vanilla.
Safe travels!✈️
Have a great trip!!
I chose Omnia Ambra for the CP — it has vanilla and what I would have sworn was a cinnamon note, although it’s not listed in the fragrantica description. Maybe some combination of orange, incense and geranium? Dunno. Yesterday the conversation about cream scones led me to dig out my very ancient copy of The Vegetarian Epicure and bake buttermilk scones for the first time in probably 25 years. They turned out very well!
You smell fabulous! I’m bummed that I missed the cream scone discussion. I like them much more than the standard butter version, although they’re probably less versatile. So much easier to make, too!
Yay for scones!
Glad that your baking project turned out well! 😋
I’m wearing Dame Chocolate+ for the CP, although I am not a chocolate fan (for eating, not for smelling) It was basically the only thing handy. It is the most chocolatey scent I have ever smelled.
You smell wonderful to me! I ❤️ all of Dame’s chocolate scents.
I’m spraying a “vintage” bottle of Lagerfeld For Men – I’m pretty sure it’s from the 90s; the current version pales in comparison. The original has, among many delicious notes, a wonderful honeyed richness, (and I do love a good honey cake.)
Lagerfeld For Men was a revelation to me back in the mid-80s; it smelled nothing like the abrasive “masculine” fragrances most of my peers wore. Slightly sweet, warm, wild, and elegant all at once, it actually made me feel sexy when I wore it. (A fragrance first for me!) The art deco font on the bottle was gorgeous, too.
It would have been 1986 when I first smelled it. I was a MFA student in San Francisco, on a strict budget. A bottle of Lagerfeld was an indulgence I couldn’t easily afford, so on my lunch break, I’d stop at the men’s fragrance counter at the Macy’s on Union Square and spray my wrists from a tester.
Maybe it’s a bit dated now, but I love the memories it evokes, so I wear it frequently.
Happy Friday, all!
Both the original women’s (KL) and men’s Lagerfeld were excellent. You smell wonderful!
I agree! KL is my standard Thanksgiving Day fragrance. Just one tiny spritz of its spices mingles nicely with what I’m cooking that day.
Scent memories are the best. Enjoy.😊
I swoon for this fragrance! Nice choice. 😉
I’ll be in Akro Bake after my massage this morning, and then in Chanel Bois des Iles Extrait after Mr. Ockeghem gives it to me tonight. 🙂
Just saw pictures of Houston — I hope Calypso and all others there are okay.
Enjoy your new Extrait!
Also hoping everyone is ok in Houston.
Lann-Ael for its grain and vanilla yumminess
Love that one, you smell great.
oooh yes, nice one!
I’m sitting on the deck with the Dog on a partial sunny day
and paying some bills. I really should get moving though.
I’m wearing Dolce and Gabbana Devotion for the cp. I smell like a lemon tart. I realized today that the vanilla in this is the same vanilla that is in Coty Vanilla Musk. Which I used to wear.
I hope everyone has a nice weekend!
https://youtu.be/2ia6zQLOPfU?feature=shared
Here’s a song match ( because it rhymes, and I love this song)
Go Motown!🎶
Thanks for that lillyjo, I’ll put on my Motown playlist today while I cook.
💚One of the sweetest voices ever.
Go Motown x2!
https://youtu.be/EBA6z9sEzAo?si=N_cucfbp7VrBXhaM
Oh Smokey is a dream in that one!
Completely sunny here, I’ll send some over!😎🌞 Happy weekend!
Hi, almost twin! Your lemon tart complements my lemon meringue pie!
You smell yummy! Devotion reminds me of the Pilsbury cake mix flavor Sunshine Vanilla, which I think was just vanilla and lemon and was sooooo good. If they hadn’t discontinued it I would still request it as my bday cake every year.
Partly sunny weather twins today!
Comme des Garcons Sticky Cake! Iris, honey, almond, pistachio, floury dough. mmm!
I have not heard of this one, sounds like a must try for me:)
It was part of their “Sweet Series,” way back when…and then it was gone…and then it came back a few years ago! yay! I had always regretted not purchasing it. 🙂
Yummy that’s such a good scent!
I love it! Fun but not silly, right? A “fleurmand” that is just sweet enough and very wearable!
I’m still eking out my old sample a drop at a time.
Hello!
I haven’t been in the best mood today but you know what’s good for that? Guerlain vanilla lol. Wearing Shalimar Souffle Intense Guerlain. I think it kinda ties into the CP a bit?
TGIF hugs all around🌹
Vanilla hugs sound good for a tough day!
Indeed, and a good omelette didn’t hurt either:) 🍳
Hugs back, hope your Friday passes quickly.
Thank you. ❤️ It really did lol time for NHL and playoff hockey:)
You smell wonderful!
Thank you!
Hope your SOTD lifted your spirits a bit.
Thanks Jalapeno ❤️. Vanilla plus veggie omelette and potato scramble seemed to be the ticket lol.
I’m wearing Akro Dark because I love chocolate cake, though I never bake them these days.
In other news, Luxembourg is “en alerte rouge” for flooding. And the Alzette (a small river in Lux.) does seem to contain an enormous amount of water at the moment but no real disasters here so far. I’m not particularly concerned as I’m quite high on a hill and we had no problems at all during the big floods of July 2021.
Hope the weather improves soon and the danger passes for those closer to the river.
No real mishaps in Luxembourg so far, but France has several flooded villages and there has been a landslide in Germany. It doesn’t seem to be quite so severe a flood as the one in 2021.
It will stop raining so heavily this evening/night. Plus there will be some sun tomorrow and Sunday, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
I’m wearing Diptyque Eau Duelle edt for vanilla which is a top favorite fragrance and ingredient for me. The green and woody notes mingle with the Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar along with a bit of pink pepper and a little bit of tea helps keep it wearable and not too sweet for me. This was another fragrance I paired with reading The Lord of the Rings books and it is easy to imagine enchanted woods while wearing it.
I love Eau Duelle, I love wearing it around the holidays, it just feels perfect for it. Such a great vanilla with the spice, I would agree that it has an enchanting element to it. I was drawn to it right away when smelling it at the Diptyque boutique. Eau Duelle, Tam Dao and Vetyverio are my three most faves from Diptyque:)
https://www.donnahay.com.au/recipes/choc-peppermint-slice
I sometimes make chocolate peppermint slice so am matching with CDG Peppermint.
I love that combination!
The CDG Peppermint is such a fun one!
I’m in an old fan favorite Vanille Insensee. This morning my daughter was like, “you smell like that vanilla perfume.” Yep.😊
It’s a gorgeous sunny day here. The kind of day I dream about in the depths of December and January, and now it’s here!😎
My son is making an impromptu visit today and tonight. The house will be briefly busy with all 3 kids home and then it’ll get quiet again.
You smell wonderful! Enjoy your reunion!
Thanks hajusuuri!
Yay for family! Have a great visit!
Juice of a lemon, honey and yogurt smoothie, typically my smoothies are unsweetened but I bought some delicious acacia honey and I wanted to use it.
Lys Soleia today, it’s a little early in the season for it and tonight for the CP Panettone which is uncanny and also has a wonderful citrus note, Italian brands are so good with citrus and pastries of course.
I almost wore Panettone! Maybe tonight when I get home!
Oh, so we might be twin😀
Honey and yogurt are an incredibly tasty pairing. I was a little skeptical the first time I tried it, but am happy that I did! 🐝
Happy friYAY! I found a little turn around spot on my route between campgrounds that, on certain days, at various times when the sun is at a specific angle and the moon has not yet risen, I MIGHT get a bar or two of service. So, from this precarious location, I’m posting to let you know I completely missed all of gourmand week which is a crime as it’s a favorite category of mine. So, rectifying it today with Café Vanille. Yum!
In non-perfume news, the boss lady who said she didn’t micromanage is a complete wack-a-do control freak. No one can stand her and at various times we have all threatened to quit, except her husband, who is resigned to his fate. He apologized to me for her because she is, in his own words, “Never wrong and will say one thing one day and then totally negate it the next day.” Yep, she sure does, and then tries to gaslight you by saying, “You must have misunderstood.” But, she told me she is a “Good Christian woman and I don’t tolerate swearing!” I guess flat out lying is okay with her Savior. I told her to avoid “misunderstandings” we can text instead of talk. That way I have a record of everything should she choose be nonsensical with me. At one point in our “Big Meeting” with the “Big Kahuna” on Tuesday, he said maybe they could get me a StarLink, and quicker than you can say “Hell no!” I smiled and told him I was quite fine as is. As they say in the south, “Lawdy!” 😂
But it’s so gorgeous here it makes up for her shoddy behavior. It has warmed considerably, sun is blasting almost everyday with temps in the mid 70’s and the nights are wonderfully cool. The hellacious wind finally stopped but occasionally in the early evening we’ll get a real whopper- a bubbling cauldron of grey clouds, curtains of rain, and gusts that bend the cottonwoods to a frightening angle. Still, all the plants are covering their naked branches, dressing slowly in spring green ruffles that shimmer and quake in the breeze. The sun casts ever changing shadows across the orangesicle color cliffs, and every so often I see an osprey bringing nesting material for the next generation, a deer bounding elegantly up a steep slope, or pronghorn moseying through tall grasses, intermittently stopping to clatter horns with a fellow antelope.
T-Rex is now known at “The Supe,” as in “Supervisor,” and rides shotgun as we make our rounds in the falling apart ram pick-up whose transmission will die at any moment as we go up a 9% grade with the engine whining and RPM’s at about 4000. It requires prayer to get to the top. Doggo has found her calling and has greeted many a camper with wags, wiggles, and whines of joy at the attention. In the evening after our last rounds she sits next to me outside with her nose all aquiver and eyes half closed in doggie ecstasy.
I have met so many nice people camping here- a retired couple showed me around their self built sprinter van and it’s a gem. Another group consisted of two middle aged brothers and an adult son who come every year for “man time” and to fish all day, every day, for a week. They brought me an entire LARGE ziplock bag full of lake trout, all filleted and skinned today. Tomorrow, we feast! I mean, come ON!
I miss all the NST news and generally don’t have a lot of time or connectivity to read the daily comments. I get one day off a week and it’s busy doing chores and driving an hour or so away to get groceries and supplies. I hope everyone is well, families are boisterous and healthy, and jobs are fulfilling (or if not, I hope they pay well to compensate!), and I already know you all smell fabulous!
Monday they’re predicting snow! 🙃
Deva, your posts nearly always make me smile or laugh, but this one made me truly happy. So glad you’ve found this new adventure, even if it does come with some, er, shall we say “challenging personalities”. Your past experiences will have given you many tools for dealing with them!
Deva, you sound happy, I am so glad for you and T-Rex. Minus the micromanaging boss lady, it appears you have found a summer heaven. I hope all the guests continue to be nice.
Glad to hear that you and T-Rex are doing so well, the micro-managing boss lady not withstanding. I hope you continue to enjoy the beautiful spot that is now your home.
Your description of the landscape is wonderful. It’s great that you’re so happy, you have such an adventurous life!
Thanks for the update. And T-Rex, a working doggo doing what she loves to do! Your absentee co-worker dodged a bullet!
I loved reading your update. So happy to hear about T-Rex’s bliss and the nice people at the campsite. Makes up a bit for the loony boss, I hope! Stay well!
What a great report! That boss person is no match for the RN who has delt with hospital corporatization for the last decade, hmph!
So glad you and T-Rex are enjoying your adventure. As for the boss lady, I’m sure you can give her a run for her money. 😉
Great to hear from you! Hope that you didn’t pack away all your winter gear yet; sounds like you will need it.
People who say they don’t micromanage lie like a rug.
I love hearing about your adventures, and I’m so glad you found out you her service there sometimes. The images you’ve shared on Instagram are gorgeous. That area looks so serene. It also made me think of Peter Heller books. If you haven’t read them yet, try The River and The Guide in that order. The Guide has a bit of a silly mystery at it’s heart, but it’s still worth a read, I think.
In Grandiflora Saskia for the gorgeous buttery Gardenia note.
A friend just offered us their home on San Juan Island for the weekend so we’re packing up and heading north. I can’t wait to be on the ferry!
That sounds wonderful. I haven’t been there since the late 80s.
I’m on the ferry and it’s as beautiful as ever!
Have a great trip!
Thank you!
Have a great weekend!
Thank you! I’m hoping to catch a fox family that decided to make their property a temporary home.
Exciting! Hope you see them. 🦊🦊🦊
Oooh fun! Enjoy the trip!
Thank you!
Have a great trip!
I don’t even know where that is but I will look it up. Lol.
It’s a beautiful spot and not too far away which is always a plus.
Ooh how wonderful! Have a fun weekend, and I hope you get to see some cool wildlife, including foxes.
I’m wearing Chanel 22 today (as on many other days :0 ) …the vanilla counts right? 🙂
You smell lovely!
Vanilla in any form definitely counts!
Great scent:)
I am wearing Origins Ginger Essence this morning, ginger is one of my favorite baking ingredients.
Got hit with a big bombshell this morning, courtesy of my sister, who is registered with Ancestry.com. Apparently my mother, a woman who could charitably be called “puritanical” on a good day, had a baby in 1943 given up for adoption. So I have an 80 year old half-sister. Nobody in my family knew, my sister and I are wondering if my dad knew. Probably not.
Oh my foxbins,
There are just so many ways to react to that news.
I hope you and your sister manage it to your satisfaction and comfort.
Wow, that’s some news to absorb! I’ve been exploring my family genealogy for awhile now, and from what I’ve read in the course of my research, these ‘surprises’ happen more frequently than you’d think. Who know where this path may lead you .. .
Oh wow! Have you been in contact with her? It’s quite a bombshell for sure!
No contact, the message was left on my sister’s Ancestry profile in 2021, and she just saw it this morning. It’s so strange, my mother was so controlling and straitlaced my whole life. I guess it was probably a reaction to her own life going off the rails for a while.
You don’t know what the story was, it might even have been an issue of rape or abuse. I know three cases in which people made contact with a lost adopted child and they were in each case happy about what happened and what they learned–they did establish contact. But here it sounds like the child (now 80) is the one looking for more information about her family and past, and that’s very challenging.
The father’s name is listed on the birth certificate along with my mother’s, so I don’t think it was rape or abuse, although I probably will never know for certain. Everyone who would know is dead now.
That must have been such a shock. A friend of one of my best friends went through a similar experience, although she was I think in her mid forties when she discovered that she had at least one half brother. I think he eventually became part of their extended family.
I’m 69, and it is a bit of a shock. Such a big secret to keep.
Yes it must have been, also very isolating.
This is the type of surprise I don’t want to encounter. I already have a big family (dad was 1 of 10 and there are 35 known first cousins including us).
Well well well… just goes to show that you never know everything about someone, even your own mother. Rather fortunate that it came out so late and never caused a problem between your parents (assuming dad didn’t know). There were several women on both sides of my family who fell pregnant before being married, but they all married the fathers (as far as we know).
Holy smoke. That’s quite the bombshell news to adjust to.
That is a lot to begin to process Foxbins. I’m sorry.
That is quite a bit of news to take in. I hope for the best of outcomes for you in this situation 🌹.
Wow, bombshell news indeed. I can’t even imagine how you must feel. I hope all goes as well as possible with you, your sister, and the half-sister, no matter what route is taken here.
SOTD is Benjoin Boheme.
No baking ingredients here, I am afraid, although I did eat a black and white cookie last night while watching Hacks.
I’m watching Hacks too! I’m still on season 2 and just watched the episode where Deobrah finds out her signature scent is being discontinued. I got such a kick out of it!
I *felt* that episode!
I loved that part of the show! I’m doing a Hacks season 1 and 2 rewatch right now with my boyfriend, as this is his first time watching it. I’m so pleased that he enjoys it too.
I don’t bake much these days, so I’m expanding today’s cp to include my favorite summer flavor for edibles and drinkables, 🍋! And because I love gourmand scents, I’ve chosen DKNY Sweet Delicious Creamy Meringue for my SOTD. Yum! The floral notes of frangipani, passion flower and freesia add some soft floral undertones to the basic lemony custard scent and, yes, I don’t mind at all smelling like lemon meringue 🥧. Besides the pie, I love all sorts of lemon cookies, frozen lemon Italian ice, fish with lemon sauce, lemon tea, lemonade and my favorite summer beer, Summer Shandy. 🍺. It’s a beautiful, warm 🌞 day here today, and my lemon scent beautifully echoes the day.
Looking ahead to the weekend, we have warm, 🌞weather forecast all weekend, a community plant sale and our museum’s living history salute to the 80th anniversary of D-Day, tomorrow, and a belated Mother’s Day brunch with my son and family on Sunday. Hope you all have something special to look forward to this weekend! 🪻🌷🌹
Sounds like a great weekend.
Enjoy!
Lemon desserts are some of my favorites, too. 🍋🍋
We had a real doozie of a storm in Houston last night! It was very scary. I lost power for awhile but it came back on. Many are still without power and there are trees down everywhere. Most things are closed today. This was a warning to me to line up all my hurricane supplies and soon!
I’m wearing my new favorite, Orgasmo from Hilde Soliani, so I smell like a delicious warm almond croissant! Yummy!
Been thinking about you all day having heard and seen what happened in your area. So glad you’re sFe and that you have power.🤗. I heard that numerous transformers were down and some folks might not have power for several weeks!😱
Yes, I’ve now seen videos on TV (at a bar where I went for lunch, since my TV service is out), with aerial views of a big swatch of downed power lines in the northwest part of town. That is going to take major repair efforts. For some reason my little townhome complex was lucky and all our lights stayed on after some flickering, whereas both down the street and across the street, they went off and are still off today.
I’m so glad you’re ok! ❤️ There was a very helpful article in the NYT about what to pack in an emergency kit. If you haven’t read it already, maybe you will find it useful.
Thank you. I’ve seen these kinds of lists before but it’s always good to be reminded. I had lots of bottled water stored up but wound up drinking it all, so that’s definitely on my list, and maybe some better flashlights and a portable radio with batteries. Etc.! (And cat food of course!)
I’ve done that with stockpiled water, too. There’s a lot to remember!
Very glad you are ok, stay safe ❤️
Oh, it’s good to hear you’re safe and with power! I hope the worst of it is past.
I saw the photos of Houston and I was hoping you were ok. It looked like it was a very bad storm.
Glad you checked in, Calypso, and are safe! We are within range of a lesser tornado alley, and always have plenty of water, cat food, cat litter, candles, and matches – in that order! 🙂
I am north of you in San Antonio area and we escaped flooding. Glad you are ok.
Glad you made it through!
Very glad to hear that you are OK!
Glad you are ok Calypso!
I really like Hilde Soliani, my favorite so far is probably Saaliiisssiimo, which may have been disco’d iirc? It’s a licorice scent with a rice note, which I thought was interesting. I enjoy wearing it. I need to try more from her.
So glad you checked in Calypso!!
Finishing off the cp with CdG Sticky Cake. It smells so good and I should wear it more often (the mantra around these parts). I’ve enjoyed smelling delicious so much that I might continue with gourmands this weekend. Since happy888cat mentioned Jeux de Peau, that might be tomorrow’s SOTD. It’ll be cooler and rainy so I think it should work perfectly.
Tonight we’re considering going to a live podcast recording with Paul Giamatti, the actor. I only found out about this yesterday! Thank goodness I follow Powell’s Books on Instagram because they posted about Paul and his podcast co-host, Stephen Asma, a philosophy professor and author, visiting the store yesterday morning. The podcast is called Chinwag, and they discuss all kinds of topics of the unknown like aliens, science fiction, mythology, the occult, spirituality, religion, etc. etc. I started an episode yesterday, and it seems like it’s a fun podcast. I really like Paul Giamatti and think it would be great pretty cool to see him live in a small venue that’s walking distance from me.
That would be so cool!
True story – my high school friend Jim Taylor co-wrote Sideways. Before they started filming, I was talking to him at his wedding reception and I said, “You should cast Paul Giamatti in your next film.” He said, “We are!” He added that wineries were sending cases and cases of wine in the hopes they would mention them in their film.
That’s very cool! Sideways is such a good movie, and that was a great script so good on your friend.
I decided not to go to the live event tonight though. I did the most tedious work today for a deadline, and I just want to pick up some takeout and veg on the couch. I did listen to a couple episodes of his podcast, and I might keep up with it.
I’m always amazed when people manage to go out on a work night. I hope it was a very relaxing evening.
I had intended on playing along today in PMC Vanille de Tahiti but couldn’t find my sample. Tried to find Jovoy Fire at Will, but that was MIA as well. So, I rummaged through more samples and found DSH Vanilla Cookie Dough, yay! I may have to change my thinking about gourmand scents and come over to the sweet side! Vanilla, not too sweet, just a hint of brown sugar, and no suffocating sillage. This gets a 👍🏻
Oh interesting, I would not have thought I’d love that based on the name but vanilla with a hint of brown sugar sounds excellent.
I’m thinking of Theorema for this afternoon. I’m going to an afternoon tea, a fundraiser for breast cancer organised by a friend who has recently recovered from successful treatment.
In the morning, I’m thinking about PdN’s Caravansérail Intense, which is spicy and chocolate.
Yay Theorema! Hope the tea was fun, and raised plenty of $.
SOTD = Lush Cardamom Coffee

Medicare Advantage – pffft. No judgment if you ended up getting it. As I have said before not in so many words, private sector involvement in a public service es no bueno:
https://www.wsj.com/health/healthcare/the-medicare-bubble-has-burst-141ae3bf?st=7yhpblt1fvqwflq&reflink=article_copyURL_share
I totally agree with you on that last point.
I’m sampling the Frederic Malle Acne Studios scent. Verdict: it’s more interesting than I thought it would be. Aldehydes and a strong peach note along with the laundry musk smell. It’s fairly strong and somehow a bit nostalgic for me. Too bad the price is completely bonkers.
That does sound good! I am sure you smell wonderful.
Joining the CP in Iris Torrefie. It seemed better for today’s warm, muggy weather than Iris Ganache. I find IT to be like a nice coffee shop where you also smell tea and sweet and savory baked items. At one point today, I had a brief flashback to OG White Linen! I think it is that something smokey. Just heard news of bad storms in Houston – hope our NST’ers in Texas are safe! Our area is saturated with rain, but there were no storms.
Nice choice for the CP, the IT split was also fun:) Smelling great:)
I’m testing a sample of Jorum Paradisi today because I’ve been on a rhubarb kick. This is a great fresh, green scent. A really well done balance between tart citrus/rhubarb and a bitter bite of green leaves and stems. I get cucumber, but thankfully ZERO dill. Comparing it to Aedes Signature — the AS has a more complexity and a stronger floral aspect. I can see how Paradisi can seem reminiscent of AS (per the fragrantica comments), but side by side they are very different to my nose.
Tea today is Harney & Son’s Holiday, spiced up with some whole cloves. The lilac and honeysuckle in my yard are peaking and they smell so good. I have a ton of weeds to pull this weekend, but I won’t mind so much with those flowers wafting.
Yay for your lilacs being in full bloom!
News Flash: I just watched Persolaise’s interview with Michael Edwards and he said that he just saw Antonia Bellanca and that she told him she is bringing Antonia’s Flowers back!
Oh interesting! If they bring back Tiempe Passatte I will have to consider buying.
I remember you like that one😊It’s such a great line.
No CP for me:
Bel Respiro & a gin martini.
Cheers!
🍸
Olives?🍸
olives *and* a twist
Doing vanilla for the baking theme CP. I spritzed from a travel spray of Cocoa Pink Triple Vanilla Dream but it seemed too weak so added Obvious Un Vanille, which is more of a dry or straight ahead vanilla than sweet. I can still smell it 12+ hours later.
Still looking for the perfect gourmand vanilla but I tend to veer off into the white floral vanilla as well. I think there are so many choices. Maybe 2025. . .
Something to look forward to 🙂
Wearing Profumum Dulcis in Fundo. One of my neighbors said I smelled like vanilla cake. 🙂
Extra points then!
Heard about the nasty weather in Houston on the news this morning. I hope that the Houston contingent of NSTers are OK.
Laundry day for me today. I did 4 loads of “special” stuff that can’t be washed in a normal load. Either it shouldn’t have fabric softener used, or it bleeds, etc.
Robin, I will try my best to send you some summer-y weather. It was 85 here today in northern Colorado. 🌞🌞🌞
SOTD = back in Prada Candy and Josie Maran Vanilla Vibezzz body butter on my shins. It’s been a long time since I have come across a perfume and lotion combination I have enjoyed as much as this one. Vanilla, caramel, a hint of juniper, and benzoin = delicious!
Thanks for mentioning us. I posted above, I am fine, and so is nancyleandros. We checked in with one another. I’m not sure about coumarin, but hope so. We appreciate the good thoughts.
Good to hear that nancyleandros is all right, too. Thanks for the update.
Please do! Overcast today, maybe 71 or something. Not horrid but not fantastic either.
So glad you found a combination you enjoy, sometimes being a little adventurous is good.
