Happy Friday and happy International Day of Argania! (Also, National Shrimp Day, plus some birthdays: Tonita Peña, Fred Astaire, David O. Selznick, Maybelle Carter, Arthur Alexander, Donovan, Miuccia Prada, Sid Vicious, Bono.) Our community project for today: we're off to Morocco! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in Morocco, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to Morocco, or that features a local ingredient, or ?
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
Me: Parfum d’Empire Azemour Les Orangers, the answer to a goodly percentage of community projects.
Reminder: 5/17 is World Baking Day. Do what you like with the theme. You could wear a gourmand, or you could wear any perfume with any ingredient you like to bake with (or eat), or ?? Be as creative as you like.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Robin, love the photo today!
Visiting the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca was a profound experience for me. Stepping inside, I felt a shift in perspective. The mosque’s grandeur and serenity left me in awe, and I emerged feeling transformed. My love for Morocco only grew stronger in that moment.
Also, It is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 14th largest in the world!
For those who are friends with me on IG, I have so many photos
Yes, it’s beautiful as is your love for Morocco and it’s people.
I hope you will be able to return in the near future, ltsg.
Me too! My dream is south of Spain and cross into Morocco from there, since I have been to Marrakech and Casablanca but not Tangier etc etc
Also, would love to visit Tunisia

Thought you’d like this. Leila Slimani talking about books
Oooo!
Thank you 🙏
Ok, now I have more books to add to my list, just from reading that article
It was very hard to choose a picture of the mosque from the many available, glad you like the one that caught me 🙂
Hello and tgif!
I’m off to a Moroccan bazaar with Aesop Marrakech Intense.
Making spaghetti bolognese today and that’s one of my doggo’s favourite dinner (Her share is dog-friendly! No onion/garlic, salt, spices etc.). She’ll be barking and begging from the moment I start chopping the veggies and I am defenseless against her round puppy dog eyes!
I love that you are making a special treat for your dog. 🙂 Lucky girl! Mine got a few bites of pie dough last night while I was baking. She climbs up my leg begging.
Mine climbs too! She will also try to climb up the countertop to “look”. I can 200% confirm, labradors LOVE food.
Fortunately my Papillon is far too short to reach the countertop. She loves food too – it’s a constant battle to control her weight.
Good perfume choice! I will join you later , such a good perfume.
Robin, you smell absolutely divine! I went a bit literal for the CP in Cuir Mauresque. Will have to switch to something else later as we are having early summer here — it’s heading to 85F today! ☀️
And we are having late winter…it was 53 and rain all day. Gave blood on Wednesday and hope that is why the rainy weather really is making me drag…I’m exhausted for no other reason I can think of.
I went very literal today with Le Maroc Pour Elle, because I couldn’t find my decant of Ouarzazate.
Amazing- how does it smell
This a nice review: https://perfumesmellinthings.blogspot.com/2006/01/le-maroc-pour-elle-by-andy-tauer.html?m=1
Thank you! you smell wonderful
Oh, I should have thought of Le Maroc pour Elle. Pretty sure I have a sample somewhere.
I went to Fragrantica and searched for rose and sandalwood. One of the perfumes listed is Chanel Coco, which has it all – rose! sandalwood! orange blossom! spices! and probably more. I had no idea that peach is listed as a note for Coco, I know we had a peach CP and I could have used it. Anyway, obviously, Coco is my sotd. I’m home today, tackling a laundry mountain range, might as well smell classy in clouds of Coco.
Now I know what to wear today!
Thanks ringthing 😀
Always happy to help!
Coco is just so good. Do you prefer the EdP, EdT, or parfum?
I have had many forms of Coco over the years and the edt remains my favorite. I have a full bottle of vintage edt that will last me for ages.
I have a bottle of the vintage, also. it’s a stunner.
I love them all, though perhaps the parfum last, mostly because of how quiet it is. I adore the richness of the rose in the vintage EdP.
I’m copying you in Coco, so thanks for the idea! I love it and don’t wear it often enough. Mine is at least 10 years old and is the EdP. Must try some other versions sometime if I get the chance.
It’s been a while since I’ve had any but the body cream is divine, all the body products are, at least what I’ve tried.
Love Coco, you smell lovely!
Thanks 🌹
Good luck in whittling down the mountain range o’laundry!
Smelling pretty pungent in “Aoud Cuir D’Arabie” from Montale.
Strange, powerful, primal stuff. (I like it!)
Happy Friday, everyone.
It even sounds like powerful primal stuff! Happy Friday Daniel.
Au Coeur du Désert for me today. Sunny and lovely!
Jealous of everyone’s sun!
Tropical scents today – Aerin Hibiscus Palm, a dab of Marissa Zappas The Sun Card (sample), and Giardini di Toscana BoraBora.
My hot take:
Hibiscus Palm – love it
The Sun Card – really intrigued
BoraBora – just about too creamy for me

^This line directly above is Phoebe’s (the Ragamuffin kitten) contribution. The kittens are 11 months old now, but the breed doesn’t stop growing for quite a while. Phoebe currently weighs in at 10 pounds, and Archie Thunder Paws is about 7 pounds.
A few of these sound really nice after I looked into them a little more.
“Archie Thunder Paws” is an adorable kitteh name! 😻
Le Maroc pour Elle for me today. I’ve had my bottle for a while and the top notes seem to have gone, drydown is still stunning.
Glad it is not gone off entirely!
In Comme des Garcons Ouarzazate for the CP.
Happy Friday! 🌻
Joining you post shower!
Smelling great, twin!
Happy Friday to you, PL67! Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you, Jalapeno!
Hello all!
El Attarine again today. I don’t wear it often but it’s been nice to enjoy it back to back for a few days. Luca Turin said it wasn’t a fragrance to buy fabric softener in, but can confirm it works for days full of studying, and is currently great company for dropping off Jicky at the vet.
My Mercari order came: a 90% full bottle of DelRae Bois de Paradis for only $65. It took years, but it never hurts to be patient. Fantastic stuff. I would trade half a dozen of the newer niche lines for Parfums DelRae to return. 🙁
Have a great day everyone!
Wow – congrats on the Bois de Paradis. ITA – fantastic stuff.
Thanks! I was so nervous the listing would be cancelled or fake that I didn’t want to jinx it. But it’s been a long week waiting for it.
I don’t blame you for keeping mum until you got it and sprayed it. That was an amazing deal. Congrats & you smell marvelous.
It’s heavenly. I’ll have to wear it next week, poll be damned! (Though I haven’t checked the poll theme, yet.)
Awesome find!
I was very lucky. 🙂
That’s terrific! I am very glad I still have a reasonable amount in my bottle. I waffle between which one I prefer, Bois or Amoureuse. Each is fabulous.
Yes, treasure them! I remembered BdP well enough because I had a sample but don’t remember Amoureuse at all. That one is rarer still.
I think Emotionelle might be my absolute favorite.
Next time we get together I’ll bring along the Amoureuse for you to sniff. It is sure to launch a lemming! Strangely enough I did not like Emotionelle at all and didn’t buy it. Same with Wit, but I also own Mythique, Panache, and Debut.
The melon is what killed it for me. I’ve got a small bottle of La Perfume de Therese and I can’t stand even that one any more. Sad.
Ah, looking forward to it! I’ll have to think up some jewels to bring along too. I now have Eau Illuminee, Wit, BdP, Mythique (actually two partials), and Emotionelle. I have a little sample of Debut, though I remember Robin once saying her bottle went off, so I haven’t used it.
I’ve really started to love melon, and PdT was a good sub for Emotionelle for awhile. Shame it’s even too much now for you. If you think about swapping your little bottle, maybe I can find something of mine worth trading for!
Congrats on the DelRae!
I first smelled that one on a group meetup and loved it. Very nice pickup! Congrats.
Ah, great scent and a fun memory!
That is a great find! You must be very pleased!
I’m so glad I got my DelRaes when I did, although I will forever regret not obtaining even a sample of Wit.
My favourite is Amoureuse with Emotionelle a close second.
Yes, very. I have seen a few bottles pop up here and there, but for at least five times the price. I have to admit, I wasn’t expecting to ever have a bottle.
Wit is really lovely as well, but I think of all of them (that I’ve tried) I think you could find something close to it. I’ll have to think on what, though.
Ah, congratulations! I saw that listing too, and almost pulled the trigger.
Ah, well I appreciate you having the restraint I didn’t! I was surprised to see it still available after 2 hours or so when I looked at it.
What a find!!
I was a bit shocked at first!
Congratulations on catching a Perfume Unicorn! 🦄
Thank you!
I meant to congratulate you yesterday on your deal. That’s amazing! Enjoy!
I’m giving a final exam, so am throughly non-CP-compliant in my go-to inoffensive warm-weather choice, Prada Infusion d’Iris. Rainy and cool here, so I do not mind that I’ll be spending the afternoon (and pet of the weekend) grading these exams.
You smell amazing and you are compliant. Infusion d’Iris has orange, iris and incense.
I agree with Glannys..
points
Goutal Le Chevrefeuille today for a hike. Gorgeous weather this weekend in Seattle!
Enjoy your sunshine, springpansy!
Perfect fragrance for a perfect PNW day. Enjoy your hike!
House twins–in Neroli. These now-vintage Goutals are very pretty.
I’ll wear Casablanca later after a routine mammogram. It’s always good to get these out of the way😊
Good luck with mammogram, hope the pancake squeeze is over quickly
Thank you😊 Thankfully it was over quickly and I’m good to go for another year!
Yes, get that over with! Ugh – the squeeeeeze. You will smell terrific afterwards.
Yay for it being done! And I do smell quite good😋
Ouch! Glad it was over with quickly!
Wearing Covey today, for its mintiness, so thanks for whoever sent in the list of Moroccan notes earlier this week!
Perfect!
Lovely photo! SL Cuir Mauresque today. It’s warmer but the sky is foreboding.
I’ll be off doing very sophisticated and elegant things today- like wacking some weeds, doing burpees under duress to access the money in the iron ranger, and sweeping down a bunch of spider webs and dead bugs from the bathroom rafters. Fun times! 🤣
Hope everyone great Friday!
You obviously must still be able to get internet services. I thought you were going to be off the grid with this new assignment. Glad to be able to hear about your adventures.
My Dance of the Dragon candle will be here on Wednesday. I am so glad that Vee found it for me.
If you enjoy that candle half as much as I do, it’s a total win! So happy you got one, let me know how you like it.
Yes, I’m waiting to get into my area. Right now I’m still in a big campground where there is service. The season officially starts Sunday but because of snow and other inclement weather we haven’t been able to get into those remote campgrounds to work much. The campgrounds are at higher elevation than here and many still have snow and mud on the ground and 4WD is needed in those areas until the snow completely melts and the roads (such as they are) dry up. We are basically trying to get many, many things organized- from signage to tracking down and repairing (if necessary) lawn mowers, weed eaters, stock up on cleaning products, make sure the boats are up and running, trucks and boats have to be serviced, ad infinitum. Equipment was left in a pretty big mess from last season, so it’s been a treasure hunt trying to find what we need and get organized. There is a total 12 campgrounds for our group and they are very far flung. No one will have service once they get into their campground because they’re so remote. So, before we get where we need to be, everyone is working to get things running. We are still waiting for one person to show up. It’s a big production…😅
Wow! I guess it’s a big production.
You might get lucky and see the Aurora Borealis this weekend! No light pollution for you.
I wish! That’s one of the things on my bucket list. There are so many clouds here, though. Very rare to have a clear sky, but I might luck out. 😊
Wearing Au Couer du Desert today and haven’t worn it in forever. I like this perfume better than the original LADDM. It’s smoother and a little more mellow.
I’m SO the you! I find it much deeper, more complex and just plain old prettier the LADDM.
With you* 🙄
I am copying Allo from her week of jasmine and go with Fox in the Flowerbed.
It is going to warm up this weekend so may have to break out the citrus scents.
Have not tried this one but it sounds good! And love the artwork on the label:)
It was quite popular when it came out three years ago. I think several of us on here still wear it. I find it an indolic jasmine, but I know others do not. I think it is very pretty in the spring.
It’s already been 3 years since Fox in the Flowerbed came out??
Thank you all for my birthday wishes yesterday!
A good day was had including a four hour phone call with my sister.
Wonderful way to spend your birthday.
Slightly belated but nonetheless sincere, Happy Birthday! Wishing you a wonderful year ahead full of all good things!🥳
A belated happy birthday!
Belated birthday wishes
Glad to hear you shared your special day with your sister. 💗
Lutens Fleur d’Oranger for me today as it’s a note common to both Morocco and Los Angeles and the orange tree blossoms in my backyard intoxicate me each spring (they’re just about done now). I was also pondering wearing others by Lutens. Since Morocco is his muse they’d all work, right? It’s been ages since I’ve worn FdO and I’m always impressed anew by its potency. Orange flowers are often a topnote, but this one lasts through to the drydown. Anyway, once the sun goes down I’ll pull out the last dregs of my L’ADDM bottle and that will be my Morocco adventure, thx for a fun CP, Robin.
Oh good, was hoping we’d see FdO today! Glad you liked the cp.
My go to is AU COEUR DU DÉSERT by Andy Tauer. I will wear it today in honor of your travels. Please post some about your travels. Morocco is one of my favorite holiday destinations of all time. I cherish the memory of our stay in the Atlas Mountains. Morocco will ignite your senses.
Ditto!
I also love the Atlas Mountains. Had lunch in a Berber home when we visited.
mizmavis, just in case it wasn’t clear, nobody is traveling, or at least, I’m not…it’s just a community project…a fantasy trip as it were.
I’m smelling quite spicy in LADDM today for the CP. Sample thunked, bottle ordered.😊
Tea today is Harney & Son’s Holiday. I’m tempted play around with this one a bit — some cloves and dried orange maybe. We’ll see if I’m feeling creative at lunch time.
Congrats on the thunk!
Where did you order your LAdDM bottle from?
Lucky Scent. They had some samples I’ve been eyeing.
Chergui, a wind “which blows on the southernmost part of Morocco, a hot and dry wind coming from the Sahara Desert”. Suprised I don’t see any twins yet.
A few days ago, I started the last coding course in my 4-course program. This one is about React, and oh boy it feels like a jump in difficulty. I have become pretty comfortable with vanilla HTML and CSS (although there are many things I don’t know about them either), but React seems a completely different system. But I am getting the hang of the fundamentals, so it should get easier, I hope.
Good luck with the React coding. I really admire you for being able to work through coding challenges on top of everything else. Hope you have a great weekend
We are scent twins!
I’m with you Glannys—I love Chergui
I wanted something gentle for the cool morning, so I’m in Angeliques sous la pluie. But I’ve got my samples of Au Coeur du Desert and Le Maroc pour Elle queued up for later. It’s going to be very warm today and into the weekend, had to start up the AC yesterday. 🌞
I love that Malle, you smell great!
Yes, it is lovely!
Happy Friday! I’m luxuriating in Golestan today, from a swapmeet decant that I’m very glad I requested. Usually not a fan of BWF, but I’ll try anything Andy. This is rich and indolic, but I don’t get any gardenia, thank goodness. Wow. Just wow. 🌸
I briefly tried this one but can’t remember anything about it! I’m hit-or-miss with Tauer, but his florals are usually a good bet for me.
I was hoping I would like it, but did not. For some reason, me and Tauer fragrances don’t mix.
I’m the same. The only one I’ve ever liked is the lavender one.
We all have houses we just don’t get on with. I can’t find anything by Memo that I like, except possibly French Leather. Mildly annoying, since the bottles are so pretty!
You would be correct. It is interesting to see how some scents work for people and others do not.
Hello!
In Sahara Noir TF.
Enjoying more mild weather this week as next week should be in the mid-90s. Then it goes from hot to scorching lol.
I keep thinking of Lush after Robin’s post about the body wash. May have to make a trip down to the store before long. Or I guess here, I can have it delivered same day via Doordash? Ut oh! Lol. Lush lemmings hit hard haha.
Have a wonderful Friday! 🌹
You smell wonderful.
Thank you! ❤️
why did this one get discontinued !?
Idk but sad that it was:( It’s one of my fave TF’s for sure
Sahara Noir had a gorgeous bottle to go with the scent.
No smoothie today, I’ll have avocado (and mash potato).
I chose orange blossom to evoke Morocco, I think it was Glannys who posted a list of notes. As I couldn’t decide between the two, it’s Au Pays de la Fleur d’oranger Neroli blanc on one arm and Arquiste Infanta en flor on the other.
That sounds a good combination. Orange blossom is so cheerful, love it.
Yes, they worked very well together with the leather of IeF providing an anchor. Arquiste has some wonderful perfumes well worth exploring and it’s not talked about enough.
double points
😀
Note twins today!
Yay.

I had a vague memory from art history that Delacroix spent a long time sketching in Morocco, and I wondered who else ( I used to have a nice Paul Klee poster from Tunisia) and landed on Henri Matisse who made two journeys, in 1912 and 1913 ( the works were exhibited in a MOMA show in 1990, (and includes the big The Moroccans painting which is in their collection). He had a Russian patron so a lot of these Moroccan works are now in the Pushkin Museum collection. There’s a nice one called Periwinkles, another of a woman called Zorah ( Wikipedia them).
It rained when he first arrived in 1912 so he did a lot of painting from his hotel room window, lots of “views” or flowers in vases. I like the lushness of this work, the depth of colour…so vivid, almost like landscape after a downpour. Matching with Interlude.
https://www.henrimatisse.org/zorah-on-the-terrace.jsp
Painting of Zorah
Lovely painting, thank you I didn’t know it.
I didn’t know it either, so another thanks, Kanuka!
I love Matisse, his use of color and light were wonderful. I haven’t seen that work you linked before, thanks for sharing! Also, which work of Klee did you have a poster of? I love his works too!
https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/483158
I can’t find it but it was similar colours to this but a bigger scene with camels
https://www.swissinfo.ch/eng/culture/the-trip-to-tunisia-that-changed-modern-art/38391666
A bit of info
Thank you for sharing this, a beautiful collection of art. Macke’s colors are just brilliant.
Twins with a number of people in Ouarzazate today. Still chained to my desk and looking longingly at the lovely weather outside. I did get a good jog in, though.
Hope you are long since unchained and starting the weekend, ockeghem!
I’m also joining the CP in Azemour this morning, mostly because it’s too warm for my first choice, Le Maroc pour Elle.
When I went to Morocco, I joined a culinary tour. Among the clients were two young women from Los Angeles, who seemed very much more interested in taking selfies, posting on Facebook, and talking to each other than listening to our guest lecturers. When we went to the open air market, they came back to the van carrying plastic bags stuffed full of olives. They had each bought 2 kilos, not knowing that a kilo was 2.2 lbs (and probably being taken advantage of by the olive sellers, but still…) I know that they didn’t know the weight of a kilo because I heard them looking it up on their phones. Every time I see an olive I think of them.
what a wonderful story!
Oh my, that’s a lot of olives 🙂 .
I was hoping to find my sample of Le Maroc pour Elle for this CP, but haven’t had any luck so far. I *know* it’s around here somewhere!
Your olive story was pretty funny.
It’s been a wonderful fragrance week for me! The lilacs just outside our bedroom deck are in full bloom, and the weather has been conducive to opening windows and doors letting their fragrance gently waft thru the house. And I’ve been in harmony all week wearing some of my favorite lilac scents – the original YR Pur Desir de Lilas, Pacifica French Lilac, Alfred Sung Sha, Annie Oakley Morning Dew, and Gucci Guilty amongst others. Been lovin’ it all week. ❤️
But I’m taking a break from lilac for today’s cp. When I think of Morocco, I think ‘spice’ and I know its unique geography includes mountains, desert and seashore. So my hand automatically reached for Dior Dune for my SOTD which, to me, evokes all of those: it’s salty, sandy, a bit spicy, and somehow woody, earthy and mossy, all at the same time. One of my favorites!❤️
Looking forward to a native plant sale later today, our first trip to the ballpark tomorrow, and, of course, Mother’s Day on Sunday! Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead and a special day for all those who have ‘mothered,’ human babies and fur and feathered babies as well!💐
I love lilacs and Dune! How lovely that you have lilacs near you to waft frangrance into the home:). I really want to try Pur Lilas by Cartier.
Dune is a great pick Laila!
Lilacs are in full bloom out here, too. I’ve been enjoying the wafts I get as I pass by.
It’s a cold Saturday morning here, we need to go to the supermarket, but I’d much prefer not to leave the house. I’d been thinking of Ouarzazate, but I think spicy and warming is the way to go, and I’ll wear Tiger By Her Side. It’s more suitable for the CP than I realised – Fragrantica tells me that its notes include Moroccan rose.
Cold here too…hope you got the shopping done and you’re cozy inside.
I went with the glorious Dilettante by Hiram Green since it really captures the beauty and intensity of the orange tree and orange blossom. Yesterday, inspired by discussion here this week, I wore El Attarine for the first time in probably 10 years from my little decant that is still holding up well after all these years. It was lovely! But quiet. So I think I’ll spray more next time.
So glad it has held up…that’s a long time for a decant!
Yes, but I do think it’s so dependent on the type of bottle a decant is housed in. I have many decants older than that that still smell great. Thank goodness because I acquired a lot of decants in MUA swaps! Anyway, I’m also glad El Attarine has been well-preserved.
Geographically adjacent in Tauer Cologne Maghreb. Thunked this bottle finally!
Congrats on the thunking!
Was your bottle a mini, or full sized?
Full size!
SOTD = Serge Lutens Chergui
L❤️ve !!!
https://www.instagram.com/p/C6zVemoxOk2/?igsh=MXh1Y3lvZnptczdu
There were several people who said that I should be smelling something else other than iris for yesterday’s YSL Babycat. I’ll have to smell the Lancôme Iris Absolue to smell what’s what. I’ll be back at some point in the near future to let you know about either my broken nose or funky labeling!
At least you are smelling wonderful – and I sure hope you have that Iris absolue to try! 🙂
I thought about something from Serge Lutens today, but had something else catch my eye.
For the CP, Serge Noir, evoking my impression of this article, which I think was posted on NST before, but in case anyone missed it, I found it fascinating.
https://www.townandcountrymag.com/style/beauty-products/a31291307/serge-lutens-marrakech/
I think I paid for a couple of those beautiful pillows with my purchases over the years😬
Haha ya me too
What an amazing place. Thanks for the link
It’s been a frustrating Friday for me. All kinds of annoyances both big and small. At least the small ones have been dealt with in one way or another. Grrrrrrrrrr!
Maybe I’ll get lucky and see the Northern Lights tonight. There’s a huge solar storm occurring right now, and the Aurorae are much further south than usual.
SOTD = LUSH Orange Blossom perfume. I got inspired by allo’s mention of LUSH Lust yesterday, and went looking for my travel sprays. Orange blossom has been a favorite and oft-mentioned note for this week’s CP.
I hope you do get lucky with the Northern Lights!
Sorry about the frustrations.
Thanks lillyjo!
I’ve heard about “Healing Touch” where practitioners transmit energy to help people find harmony and healing. I am not an HT practitioner, but you have just inspired me to start my own practice, “Healing Spritz.”
Judging by your symptoms (Friday frustrations), I am going to spritz Sarrasins, which I know to be one of your favorites. I hope it helps💕
Believe it or not, I think your “Healing Spritz” may have worked a bit of magick this evening! A package that was going to be delayed until Monday showed up a few minutes after you posted. ✨
I now have my Leather Jardin!
Yay!
Oh dear, sorry for the frustrating day but you smell really good, I have that Lush too.
I am copying ringthing in Coco. I honestly can never go wrong with it.
When I saw the theme was Morocco, my first thought was the episode of Absolutely Fabulous when they went. ( I am obviously very well traveled. Lol)
I could only find a brief clip to share, but thought better of it. I almost forgot how funny those two are.
That is the truest statement ever, “I can never go wrong with Coco.”
You smell wonderful!
Smelling great in Coco today! It was a little too warm for it out here, though.
OMG I forgot that episode! So deliciously ridiculous, I should see if I can find a functioning dvd player in this house and watch it again.
Sampled Tanger today which is a cheerful floral that is nice but not full bottle worthy
