It's (teapot) Tuesday and the last day in April, plus International Jazz Day. Birthdays: Alice B. Toklas, Annie Dillard, Jane Campion. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Berdoues Assam of India since people were talking about it in the comments yesterday. Tea at the moment is Yunnan Golden Buds Organic from Upton with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
Reminder: 5/3 will be Chypre Friday! Wear a chypre fragrance of any sort — classic or modern or post-modern. This is a repeat from 2016.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: from the Bridgerton Tea Time collection at Williams Sonoma (which does include a proper stoneware teapot), the Chocolate Breakable Tea Pot with Candy Jewels ($48.95) and the Bridgerton Teapot Cake Pops (6 for $39.95).
Happy Teapot Tuesday everyone!
SOTD is Musc des Sables from the swapmeet, thank you writerrobyn 🙂 On me, it’s a more casual version of Coromandel, a lightly sweet iris-powdery cloud dancing above easygoing patchouli.
As for the CP, I don’t have many chypres, I suspect it’s not my genre after all. I do have a vintage Mitsouko extrait, that may make an appearance on Friday.
Instead of wearing Courtesan yesterday, I went with vintage Mitsouko extrait.
Mitsouko is about the only thing I have too. Oh, I guess 31 Rue Cambon is a woody chypre so that works. I may wear one of them toward the end of the week.
If anyone has Bottega Veneta, I’d say that’s a perfect fit for the CP.
Oh, maybe I’ll wear it tomorrow, thanks! 😊
Hi, NST!
It’s an amazing spring day, all blue sky, sunshine and pleasant cool temperatures. I’m wearing Silences. Taking my mom on a drive this afternoon to look at the flowering trees and general gorgeousness of springtime. Enjoy your day, everyone 🌹
Enjoy your drive!
Same amazing day here. Enjoy your drive!🌞
I’m cp compliant in Trefle Pur.
Points!
Chypre day two: Molyneux Fête, a very sixties chypre that I feel was underappreciated, but not by me. Floral but not prettily so, rather unisex, thanks to the oakmoss, leather, and sandalwood in the base. I have only a few drops left and I’ll miss it when it’s gone.
I’ve seen that one around but never tried it. Are you familiar with Vivre by them? It’s an exceptional floral aldehyde.
exceptional!
☺️
I thought I was going to save Azemour for Friday, but the hand went straight to it this morning. Such an interesting and beautiful chypre.
I am going to see how soon I wear it 🙂
I am wearing Pêche Chypree from Voskanian.
It’s a rainy day, the magnolia tree in front of my house will be blooming soon , that means spring is coming to my town!!
Yes, same in the Plateau! Magnolia, daffodils, tulips, and soon lilacs!
Hello.
Chypre is one of my favourites and I easily have enough for a week. Yay!
Sotd is Zara Leather Jardin. I still can’t believe this is from Zara. It’s so so good.
Perfume alert!
Leather Jardin has been re-released! Now in a new bottle. If you’ve missed out before and want to get your hands on one (or more – I strongly recommend bubs), now is your chance!
https://www.zara.com/us/en/-p20110757.html?v1=355847964&v2=2353656
I put this on the other day (thanks to your original post!) and it really is amazing, especially at the price.
That was my SOTD yesterday, and I was still smelling it a bit when I was asleep! 🙂
I admit to being enabled 😳
Ah, you are the one who gets a double enabler pin, lol!⭐️⭐️
I couldn’t remember. (The double because I did indeed buy a BUB as well.) It is nice, especially for the price.
I have a question on this before I let you guys enable me. I see on Fragrantica that it is compared to Aramis. My father wore Aramis, and I loved it, but found it very masculine. Does this really smell like that?
So many perfumed temptations lately!
Givenchy Very Irresistible L’Intense for partial credit. It is a blend of rose, plum, patchouli and musk, and Fragrantica calls it a floral chypre. I think this more of a fruitchouli with a strong rose note.
Thanks a lot for your sympathy yesterday. A bit of a light in the tunnel – when I placed a repair order with the ISP today, they told me that the technician’s visit will be free. I am still bummed about a less than one-year old UPS dying on me, but it is something at least.
Oh at least for that! But it is still all a big pita.
Nice to hear that your ISP is cutting you a break with the tech visit.
Good morning all! I’m wearing cacharel loulou from a vintage bottle I just blind bought for $20. I smell amazing! I can’t imagine how the parfum smells, I sprayed two sprays on a sweater and the scent filled my entire 1000 square foot apartment haha.
Is it ok to ask interest about a potential split? I want to get the heeley 15 ml x 3 set (or the 5 piece if enough interest) but there’s only one scent I want. I just want the tiny bottle, haha. If this is not ok to talk about I will keep my lips buttoned til then
Yes you may ask! And congrats on your new bottle, so glad you love it now that you own it 🙂
You smell fabulous. Vintage Loulou (I’ve never tried the current version) is everything I love in a perfume.
I might be interested in the Heeley split. Depends on price and which fragrances are chosen.
I second this!
Yesterday, I decided on vintage Mitsouko extrait instead of Courtesan. I managed to grab a hold of the last little bit of no 19 extrait and I am wearing a little bit of that today.
That must be very elegant 🙂
Busy day yesterday, but I wore Zara Leather Jardin. Today I think I’m going for Tauer Rose Chyprée.
In good news, we finally bought a car. It wasn’t really what we wanted, but we’ll hand it off to Ockeghem Teen in a couple of years (aaack!) and let’s hope there will be more on the market by then.
Congrats! At long last. 👏🏻
What did you end up buying?
2016 RAV4 Hybrid at a lower trim level than we’d wanted. We’d been hoping for something a bit bigger and a bit newer, with a better speaker / stereo system (important to Mr. Ockeghem, who does most of the driving) that had Car Play (important to all of us), but we basically had to jettison almost everything we wanted just to find a car. Hybrid was non-negotiable, tho.
I love Toyota so my guess is you will love it! I have a Highlander, but I have many friends with RAV4s and really like them.
Yeah, we had a Highlander that we loved, too. It probably had another 7-10 years in it…stupid accident. So we were pretty focused on getting another Toyota. Would have loved a Highlander, but there just aren’t any here right now, new or used.
My friend just purchased a Subaru Solterra which is manufactured by Toyota, I believe. It’s a pretty nice car:).
Glad you finally got a reliable car and hope it gets you from point A to point B safely. I really hope your next vehicle is EXACTLY what you want.
Congratulations on finding a new (to you) ride!
Wearing something low key today since I’ll be jammed into a truck with other people for a bit, so decided on The Original Omnia by Bvlgari.
Finally got some very good deep sleep last night after T-Rex reacted to something Sunday night. She had an allergic reaction which thankfully didn’t involve her airway, just her muzzle area which became so edematous I was really worried, especially being so far from a vet. Luckily, the swelling was very transient and resolved within a couple of hours, but she was really restless all night. Anyway, that night and into yesterday she kept breaking out in hives so I’ve been loading her up with Benadryl. She’s doing all the normal things (eating, drinking, pooping) so hoping over the next 24 hours the hives will be gone. And for all the dog owners out there, if your dog has an allergic reaction, always look for blood in their 💩 because is a sign more serious systemic problems rather than localized, according to a vet. Don’t want to leave her today, but she had no hives at all this morning but I decided to give her a Benadryl anyway. Really, I worry more about my dog than many people worry about their kids…I’m kinda ridiculous, no need to say it, I already know…”Hello, my name is Deva and I’m a helicopter dog mom.” 🙃
Happy Tuesday!
Oh, poor girl! I hope she continues to improve today.
Thanks, she’s doing well (until she gets into something else) 😊
That’s very understandable, Deva! Cherish that pup. 💗 I am glad she is getting better.
Thank you! I mostly cherish her but sometimes I’d like to give her a working farm so she can see how good she’s got it! No coming inside out of the rain and cold then! No fleece sweaters, special treats, belly rubs, or smooches! Just lots of very hard work.
I used to get hugely anxious whenever my dog was ill. So I fully understand! Glad to hear that she is doing better.
(I just checked to see what Benadryl was exactly. It’s not for sale in the Netherlands.)
Yeah, that’s just the brand name which is what everyone here in the US calls diphenhydramine. Probably available there under some other brand name, as you’ve probably already discovered. Thanks for understanding my anxiety. I was just thinking the other day I probably will not get another dog, especially traveling like this. Veterinary care is very difficult and so expensive now because huge for profit corporations are buying vet clinics and really jacking up prices, benefiting no one except CEO’s and shareholders. Basically, the same as human medicine here, just on a smaller scale.
Not even available as a generic, as far as I could find, though a related antihistamine is (dimentidene).
I absolutely hate the commercialisation of medicine, be it veterinary or human. I won’t say any more about it, because that would quickly become a political discussion, but I hear you.
I’m not prone to panic, but the one time I did was when my darling Josephine was off leash and crossed a very busy road because she got scared by two large dogs. Fortunately only my vocal cords got damaged in the process (all dogs remained unharmed).
I would love to have another dog, but the apartment I’m currently renting has a very strict no pet policy plus I make long hours, and how fair is that. Still, I still dream of another wirehaired dachshund. I saw one from the bus today. Just the way, they walk like they own the world is priceless.
Josephine! Omg, that’s my worst nightmare come to life. I’m glad everything turned well, except for the vocal cord! Of the three varieties, the wires are the best, imo. They are much more animated and outgoing with personalities much bigger than their short hotdog body would suggest. I hate the process of stripping wires though. Don’t know if you do that there, but here for conformation shows they do it and I don’t like it one single bit.
Wirehaired dogs are stripped here as well. It really depends on how harsh the coat is though, and the skill of the groomer. (we call it “plucking”)
I realise there is a difference. In Dutch the word “plukken” is used when you trim a wirehaired dog appr. once every nine months. It’s called stripping when you groom them every 3 to 4 months.
Yikes! I hope she continues to do well! Do you know what she reacted to? And does the Benadryl make her sleepy?
I have no idea. I don’t think it was something super serious like a scorpion or snake because I think I would have heard a yelp of pain or at least surprise at the strike. Probably some kind of insect but it was around midnight so I didn’t actually see anything.
Glad she’s better.
Thanks, me too!
So sorry to hear about T-Rex’s bogus weekend! Hives and edema are super scary allergic reactions, especially for furry family members.
Glad that she is doing better today.
Thank you! And thanks for the BV suggestion you made higher up. I’ll wear that tomorrow. 😀
Cool!
BTW, I just remembered my brother said that one of his dogs used to eat wasps and bees! Hopefully T-Rex didn’t follow suit.
I got my box from Luckyscent yesterday with my impulse purchase of Hilde Soliani Orgasmo, plus a nice array of samples. This morning I’m trying two others from her that were among the samples: Bell’Antonio (coffee and tobacco), and Fraagola Saalaata (might have left out some of the “a’s” in those words!)–strawberry and salt. I’m not particularly taken with either one.
Lately I’ve felt very unmotivated to do anything, and I’m having horrible dreams. I had one about a car going off a cliff last night with me holding it up from falling down by hanging on tight to some rocks along the cliff. It woke me up because it was so scary. Mom was a passenger in the same car. I don’t think I want to go near any dream interpretations in this case!
Pretty understandable dreams considering all you’re going through right now. I hope you have a nice fluffy cat dream tonight! 🐱
I hope you can be kind and not too demanding to yourself. You’ve been dealing with a lot.
Dreams can really be unsettling, hope tonight will be different.
I hope you get a great night’s rest today!
Those dreams could be your subconscious mind trying to get a handle on things. You’ve had so much stressful stuff to deal with lately.
Sending you a lapful of kitty snuggles and purrs from Teflon.
Getting an early start on Chypre Friday – wearing vintage Ysatis de Givenchy for the first time. Wow, this stuff is enormous. So this is what the 80s were like? Jeez, I’m not sure I’ll ever feel expansive enough to be worthy of it.
This is so funny to read for a person my age (58)! “So this what the 80’s were like?” To me, and probably others my age, the 80’s were yesterday. Enjoy your big beautiful perfume! 😊
I’m 61! I just wasn’t paying attention to “feminine” perfumes back in the 80s, and I’d only read about perfumes for big hair and big shoulders. Now I understand!
Ohhh, you missed a lot then!
Big hair, big shoulders and I am pretty sure my Anne Klein Lion earrings were bigger than silver dollars.
I had the HUGEST earrings in the ’80s! 🙂 (My ears weren’t pierced so I had to go huge anyway.)
I’m also 58 and wore a ton of Ysatis when it was first released. Go big or go home! The 80’s were grand.
Me too, Ysatis was one of my favourites. I am 58 .
The 80s were the best.
I bathed in Paris YSL and occasionally in Anaïs Anaïs. Wearing an average of ten sprays a day. Gosh, it was great.
Daniel, I took a look at some of your photography, you are very talented! I love your macro shots of the flowers! I think the Golden Gate one is my favorite, wonderful contrast, great shot! And your portraits are lovely too, great stuff! 🙂
Thanks for the very kind words, Omega. I love photographing flowers; with their innate beauty they make wonderful subjects. People are even more fascinating, (though not always as cooperative!)
Well, the 80s were not that for me! And when I think of 80s fragrances now, I think of things like CK One and Eau de Givenchy and Calyx. I did wear YSL Paris too and that was big, but I never wore any of the “power suit” fragrances, and neither did any of my friends…
I know how you feel. I’m 60, so the 80s for me were about university and starting work, and it doesn’t seem that long ago. But, I didn’t wear much perfume, so I’m still discovering things from the 80s.
My experience is similar – those school and starting-work years in my life were not the time to discover perfume!
I’m also 58. Whenever I think of the 80’s and perfume, Obsession and Poison immediately come to mind. I knew people who wore both back in the day, and wore them well.
I never encountered Ysatis, though. Sounds like I missed out.
I remember it when it first came out. I really liked it and wanted a bottle but lacked the funds for “trivial” things during those years.
Sounds like me and the original Tuscany per Donna. I couldn’t afford it and textbooks for school at the same time.
In a sample of Un Matin d’Orage–don’t recall if I’d ever sampled before. Though gardenia, it somehow seems more tropical than I expected.
EDT or EDP? They’re different, I prefer the jasmine gardenia of the EDT versus the tuberose gardenia of the EDP.
Wearring some No. 19, which has done wonders for my posture at my workstation.
😂
I know what you mean!
Commando until another trip to another optical shop. This one holds promise!
Later, will be wearing vintage Ivoire EdT.
Good luck! Do you have a Warby Parker by you?
Thanks! I don’t, but I’m going back to the optical shop at my medical center, and they have a pair of frames that I want to try. Also, they have a pretty good selection.
Vintage Ivoire is gorgeous.
And if I was able to find a pair of jeans that fit great today, I figure you will have similar luck with glasses!
Sampling Les Abstraits Belle Âme today which was a recommendation from Cicely.
Had not heard of this house and ordered a sample direct from their website…getting a lovely, sweet and spicy iris so far in the opening.
Fragrantica lists the following as a note from the brand on this one which expands on my lovely comment above. ehaeheeh 😉
Anchored in preciously rich orris pallida butter, warmth radiates from golden-hued tonka, touches of fruity-fresh vanilla are deepened with lush, dark cocao bean extract, accented with ginger and cardamom. Angelic musks impart an ethereal lift, signaling the dawn of better days ahead.
Oh boy … it sounds really good!
You may have introduced a lemming to the iris lovers here at NST…
I’m wearing Hiris today, I hadn’t worn it in a while. It’s pouring rain today, but should be better than yesterday, which went like this: Rain, sun, rain, sun, hail, sun, rain. I managed to fit a walk in between cloudbursts but it was a near thing. At least I avoided the hail.
Ugh, hail is horrid. Hopefully it didn’t cause a lot of damage in your area.
Gosh, glad you missed the hail…
Cold and rainy here today, wearing Encens Mythique d’Orient.
I will join you today, cazaubon.
Me and my bottle are not getting any younger.
I’m wearing Ella by Arquiste which is just delightfully trashy and classy if that makes sense.
It smells lived in. I might actually prefer it to Âme Perdue, another chypre by Flores-Roux.
I am trying to think of something like that in my collection and failing…aha, I must need one!
No chypre for me today. I have a meeting later this afternoon so went with Splendiris. It is light enough for being in a room with several people.
Hope that your meeting went well.
Chai tea
Cruel Gardenia
Library 📚
All good things!
I’m in Dear Polly for teapot Tuesday.
It is a gorgeous sunny 64 degree day. I just got back from my lunchtime walk and I love, love, love this kind of weather! It is the Goldilocks of not too hot and not too cold but just right.😎
Lucky you, we get so few of those days here anymore!
Teapot cake pops! Those are so darn cute.
Getting warmer out, definitely popping on the A/C , where it will be on till November haha. My Golden Knights lost game four, all tied up now. Trying to make it interesting I guess lol.
I am still thinking about those cardamom rolls from TJs lol I think I need to try them:)
Enjoying my mini of Velvet Orchid TF
Hugs to everyone 🌹
I am thinking about them too 😋 although I am not due to shop at TJ’s for at least 3 weeks.
Lubin Grisette today. Cheerful and pretty – it elevates my wfh oversized tshirt and leggings.
When I was a kid, like, 8 to 10, I didn’t like wearing jeans, so I only wore leggings and sweatpants. And since it was the 80s there were some awesome track suits in there, too.
35 years later I wfm most of the time and my wardobe is pretty much the same, minus the tracksuits. And it’s my favorite thing about working from home. Roll out of bed, throw on comfy clothes, slap sunscreen on my face, make coffee, feed the cats, get to work.
And I can spray perfume all day long if i want.
Perfume is a great wfh colleague! 🙂
Grisette is extremely pretty!
I’m unsure if I have any Chypre scents for this week—it’s a genre that doesn’t suit my skin often. Instead, I poured out a few handfuls of La Chasse aux Papillons out of my big bottle and splashed that all over me. It feels so light and glistening as I sit in front of a fan and wear a cotton summer dress. The perfect warm-weather fragrance.
Yes it is!! I would love to have the body products for La Chasse.
Pear and yogurt smoothie
I chose Empreinte today for the CP, it’s a vintage bottle, the modern one smells fine too but it’s oakmoss was replaced by patchouli, and tonight it’s Dior Homme Intense, a favorite iris.
*its
IIRC, you mention Empreinte on a fairly regular basis.
That’s right😀 both vintage and modern are very affordable too.
Empreinte is beautiful!
And a cheap thrill😀
I’m wearing Mitsouko, it took a while to click for me years ago, but when it did, I was in love 🙂
And maybe some day it will click for me!
In Chanel Cuir de Russie EdT for the CP
I am feeling exhausted right now. We just finished the inspection of 3 of the 4 buildings scheduled for today. We have the last one in 10 minutes. We are grabbing quick lunch now and praying we can finished the last one in good 2 hours and a half. This is a very busy week with inspections every day. We will survive! Back to read comments later.
Happy Tuesday! ☕️
Hang in there, PL67! Time for some triple-strength coffee, stat!
Thank you, Jalapeno! Trying my best. I had a espresso on my way back home. Still, I am drained enough to go sleep immediately.
Hope you sleep well tonight.
Thank you, Lillyjo!
Wearing Balenciaga Paris, which Fragrantica tells me is a chypre. Woo hoo!
I never would have thought it was a chypre.
Me either. So that makes it a post-modern chypre 😉
That does sound busy and sorry you are drained. You smell fantastic though:)
Hope you get some well deserved resting up after. 🌹
Thank you, Omega!
I am already home and about to collapse in bed for the day!
Lol and that post didn’t go right..reply was for perfumelover lol
I think it’s my phone lolol
EL Azuree, from around 2015. Very dry, herbal opening which I don’t like as much as I used to. When the florals arrive, it is more my style. But I love the oakmoss “pow” it gives.
Ooooooh, love the OG Azuree! You’re smelling great!
And Azuree has amazing lasting power.
Very cute “teapots” today, Robin.
I’m in a more modern chypre from circa 2010, though maybe earlier. It’s called The Garden Party Frangipane by The Party and was discontinued a long time ago. It smells a LOT like Azemour, which means it’s gorgeous. I’m not sure why they called it Frangipane because there’s no frangipane in sight, just a gorgeous citrus chypre.
The Bridgerton thing is in full swing over at Williams Sonoma…I guess people are planning Bridgerton parties.
Oh, I don’t remember that brand at all!
The brand was kind of a thing over on MUA for a time if I remember correctly. This one and The Party in Manhattan were the only two I remember being around. I think I tried Frangipane from a swap back then and eventually lucked into a good deal on eBay for my bottle.
Interesting…I probably heard of it and forgot all about it then. Thanks!
SOTD = Diptyque Volutes EDT
Oy! Love!

Apparently, I am easily enabled, case in point: I literally bought the Zara Jardin Leather as soon as I saw the link posted. Of course, having been watching Peacock streaming (yeah yeah I am living with the commercials), I also just bought Yasso greek yogurt ice cream from Wegmans. So there’s that …
And for those who have NOT shopped at Aldi’s, and I myself have not in a while, here’s info on how the company is trying to be more efficient:
https://www.wsj.com/business/retail/rising-food-prices-send-more-shoppers-to-aldi-aa7fe750?st=j4g46h2oi4m5m5j&reflink=article_copyURL_share
So what flavor of Yasso did you get? And does it beat Haagen Dazs?
Pistachio Brittle. I haven’t had HD in a long while and not of pistachio either. Overall, I say the yasso tasted great and I will repurchase. I was looking for one without a chocolate coating but I may just have 2 types on hand for next time.
From my recent tasting & testing of HD, I can vouch for their Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream. I think they have Pistachio, but not sure.
I will keep the Yasso in mind next time I go looking for a frozen treat!
Robin, today’s teapot themed items are insanely cute!
Quickly posting and running. I had lunch with one of my cousins today, and we caught up on a LOT of things. So good to see her again. We gabbed much more than we ate. Hopefully we will see each other a little more often now. That branch of my family tends to get together only for weddings and funerals…
SOTD = commando, except for Korres’ Mint Tea Body Butter. It’s a pretty good match for the CP!
Glad you had a nice visit and lunch.
Thanks lillyjo! I’m fortunate that I have some relatives I like. Not everyone can say the same… 🤐
That sounds like a perfect cousin lunch 🙂
Thank you Robin!
This cousin and/or her sister used to babysit me and my brother when we were little. There’s not much of an age gap between us.
Very nice get-together with your cousin! We have the opposite problem in these here parts.
Thanks.
So many of our mutual relatives are gone now. Can’t afford to waste any time now.
Yay for family reunion.
The same happened with my extended family. We only get together for funerals and we always agree to meet under different circumstances, something that never materializes.
This was for Jalapeno above.
Nice to know that it isn’t just my family!
Busy day AGAIN! I was wearing Dolce Vita this morning, now I am wearing Prada Infusion d’Amande. Love both.
Woohoo!
You made up for my perfume slacking!
Norell! I may be late but I’m still smelling good!
