Happy Friday and happy National Almond Day! (Birthdays: Henry Adams, Richard Ford, plus happy 67th to LeVar Burton!) Our community project for today: wear a fragrance with almond.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm taking points for the bitter almond in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto.
Reminder: on 2/23, we're off to New Zealand! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in New Zealand, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to New Zealand, or that features a local ingredient, or ?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2024, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Hello and tgif!
My CP sotd is Floris Madonna of the Almonds.
Met up with a family friend yesterday as she was in town and she gifted me this most precious pair of gold baby elephant earrings. One thing I love about having short hair is that earrings are no longer covered!
Nice you can show them off
I haven’t heard of this perfume but I’m tempted to seek it out. I’m sure you smell fantastic!
Your earrings sound delightful! I’m partial to bears myself and have numerous pairs of earrings featuring my favorite animal.
I wore all my almond-forward scents back in the second week of January when the CP was marzipan: Fragrantica swears that 1998-vintage Givenchy Pi has an almond note, and I’m going to take them at their word, so that’s what I’m wearing today. Doesn’t smell remotely almondy to me: what it smells like is a variation on 1985’s Calvin Klein Obsession, a brazen vanilla amber with a distinct orange top note. I always found the original Obsession for Men too spicy, too much of an attack dog: Pi is OfM as it should have been.
Yes they were repetitive themes, sorry!
For the project, I am sampling A Squirrel with an Evil Plan from Osmofolia for its almond cookie note.
My brother and his girlfriend will be visiting this weekend. Might snow so I hope they’ve packed appropriately. Got reservations at my favorite tapas place tomorrow and dependindg on my studying (I have midterms next week), we may go up to Boulder on Sun
Love that name! 🐿 😈
They have a whole collection with similiar names 🙂
I went to Osmofolia’s website because I have a rodent loving friend. Those descriptions in the “Cozy and Dangerous” collection are right up her alley. The scents are out of stock at the moment, though.
They’re a fall collection so you’ll probably have to wait a while for them to restock
My dog is sure that all squirrels have evil plans.
🤣🤣🤣
Definitely agree that Squirrels Are Evil!
I’m wearing Hypnotic Poison and enjoying it greatly.
Finally got knee surgery scheduled yesterday, for the middle of March. That gives me some time to get some shorts and exercise clothes that fit.
Oh good! Glad you finally have a date!
Yay for Hypnotic Poison and glad you got your surgery scheduled.
Great news.
I am in the midst of researching doctors in my network for knee replacement, so I will be following your journey. Wish you all the very best and keep us (well, me, really) posted on your progress.
Thank you, I will, probably more than anyone wants to know 🙃
Hooray! That’s great news.
Best of luck with your upcoming surgery and yay! for the planning.
Glad you can get this done soon!
Glad to hear that you’ve been scheduled, and it’s not too far in the future. Best of luck!
Good morning!
I’m wearing a spray of Ava Luxe Loukhoum, a Turkish Delight-inspired gourmand that’s heavy on the almond, honey, pistachio, and musk. Mmm!
I’m wfh today and looking forward to some music and museums with friends over the weekend. Be well, everyone!
Sounds like a great weekend!
As far from almond as you can get, I’m in Aromatics Elixir.
I mean, if you have to distance yourself from almond, that is a *great* way to do it.
Well said 😀
That was a very tempting choice for me today. It would play very nicely with the far drydown of EL Legacy White Linen, I think.
I chose not to do the cp this week. I’m in Alkemia Viridis Arcanum, a very bitter galbanum, leather and pine scent. Sometimes bitter is better.
sounds lovely, must look this up!
In Oriza’s Heliotrope Blanc…why don’t I wear this more often? 😉
You smell lovely, I wore it for the marzipan CP.
I am in Coco Mademoiselle Intense today. It has tonka which is similar to almond. Wasn’t up for another Lolita Lempicka day.
You smell wonderful. Ha, I need to think about almonds next time I wear CMI. The tonka is just a bit much in it for tonka-adverse me, though I own and wear it regularly.
I need to keep an eye out for CMI the next time I am at ULTA or Sephora.
The glorious Rahat Loukhoum from Uncle Serge for me today. Almond is one of my favorite notes in perfumery so I’m tap-dancing all over this CP. And I’m with galbanumgal on the Oriza Heliotrope Blanc – it’s quite lovely, and so is the bottle.
I was almost going to wear Rahat but changed my mind at the last minute since I did the marzipan cp recently, but I ❤️ it.
House twin in Louve today.
Hello everyone!
I’m in Lutens again, the underrated gem that is Louve. I always liked it fine, but one day an old coworker wore it to work. The sillage was just glorious on him.
I don’t regret signing up for a Friday-Saturday class but I am quite tired this morning. Luckily there’s a good cafe within walking distance to the campus!
Have a great day, all!
An in person Friday-Sunday class? Huh. I suppose it’s convenient for working adults, but yeah, I can understand feeling tired and like your week never ends then. Does it run a whole semester?
Yes. I actually picked it because of the professor (I also have a hard time with online classes.) Luckily I don’t have a Monday class so it isn’t too bad
Though I will add, so far the professor is good but a lot more strict than his reviews let on. I may have picked a different one….
Ooh, I think I have some Louvre. Must look around, as it would perfectly extend the almond theme into tonight. Thanks Coumarin. That is a great Serge!
It’s better than I remembered! Enjoy.
Oh! I wore Louve today too. We were matching. 🙂
How fun! You smelled great.
Congrats on your calculus test score!
I would have killed for an 80 when I took it.
Oh, I sure appreciate it! Thank you.
Good morning all! I am swathed in Eau de Homemade Cherry Pie filling, recipe courtesy of one of my 4H leaders, where the secret ingredient is a little almond essence, so I am CP compliant – adjacent, since it seems to have gotten on my hands…, right?
I recognized the artwork as Diego Rivera- his style is so distinctive, but I have not seen this image before. You find the best things, Robyn! My tidy up the house project is progressing. New shades for the huge dining room window should be here next week. Hopefully the installation will be done before my birthday! Have a good weekend, all you prople smell wonderful.
Definitely CP compliant!
I have heard that almond extract/essence also makes a great addition to anything with blueberries. One of these days I should try that.
I found that picture by accident while nosing around for our next picture challenge! And I did not know that particular mural either.
SOTD = Chanel No.5 L’Eau
In the red bottle, of course! Here’s another one where I wonder why I don’t wear this more often? Maybe I need to go 12 sprays …
https://www.instagram.com/p/C3amckSuURW/?igsh=aDltanluYW02anlx
I decided to show the bottle backside out to avoid having to hide the name and logo. Not that it was difficult to do but it’s extra. I don’t sell on Instagram nor do I want to start. When a platform makes it difficult to post one’s own possessions, people will defect. Just sayin’ …
I have a birthday party to attend tomorrow; hopefully, the snow we’re supposed to get later today will be short-lived. My friend is organizing it herself and in the last two weeks, I’ve gotten 3 texts asking if I have: 1) an urn or electric kettle (no to both) 2) wireless speakers (no) 3) folding chairs (no, but I have her an alternative which was acceptable). She had been planning this since December and one would think that she has a checklist for all of these … but perhaps I am expecting too much 🤷🏻♀️. Anyway, I am looking forward to it.
Lol, perhaps🤷♀️😂 I hope it’s fun.
Thanks!
I hope the snow is manageable and you have a good time at the party.
I hope so. Thanks!
Would be nice if another colored bottle for No. 5 L’Eau comes out.
You and I are probably going to be snow twins tonight! Not sure how much I will get now; the forecast has changed yet again. I still expect it to be in the “Nuisance Snow” range.
I would buy it in every color should they come up with others!
As to the snow forecast, who knows at this point?
I’m canoodling with Uncle Serge today, wearing the always lovely Chergui. We had a pretty good frost last night and I almost skippity-slipped down the camper stairs when taking the dog out this morning. Cue the Fred Flintstone music! 🤣
The sun is out, for how long no one knows. But the frosty fence posts are gently steaming as the sun warms up the wood and melts the frost. So pretty! 🤩
You smell great!
Oh no, be careful!
I thought of you yesterday when we went to the RV & Camping Show, thinking that maybe sometime in the future when we’re done with tent camping we might get something modest in the RV line. Wow! Not much modesty here – mostly huge (but beautiful) RV’s; it was overwhelming! So many to choose from! We had a good time anyway, even tho we only found 1 or 2 we might consider in the future from the hundreds that were there!
If you’re looking for a bumper pull (instead of a pop-up, truck camper, fifth wheel, class A or class C), check out the links below. I was very tempted to buy an Escape Trailer from ETI. They are manufactured in Canada (BC). They are very well built and hold their value well. Before I decided on a van, I almost bought one. Then, when I was looking to upgrade from the van, I almost bought one again. The only reason I didn’t is because of my travel style while working as an RN. The truck camper is more versatile for me at this time. BUT, if this is my last contract as a hospital RN, I may end up selling what I have and buying one down the road. I honestly would not buy (almost) any American made RV, and the price you pay has nothing to do with quality you get. Try to hone in on what you think will work for you and buy a relatively new used one. Most of the bugs have been fixed by the previous owners. Many people are selling now because of the uncertain economy. It’s worth the money to have it professionally inspected before you buy. I have toured and talked to many Escape owners and they really are Happy Campers. If you go to their website they have various models and also a way to contact owners in your area to schedule a walk through. I’ve met many owners on the road and all have been super nice. Escape also has a very helpful forum where owners and want-to-be owners talk about everything trailer related. It’s a very helpful place for information. Another along the same lines is Casita, which is made in Texas. They are more limited in size and style, but if you’re just camping on weekends and such, it would be a good choice.
Escape:

Escape Forum:

Casita:

And forgot to mention almost all of these are manageable sizes that can be pulled by a base pickup, SUV, or car. They are also direct from manufacturer, so you won’t see them at RV shows.
Awesome, Deva, thank you so very much! A wealth of information I will definitely save for the future – I didn’t know any of it! 🙏🙏🙏
Yikes! Unsure footing is the worst, especially if one isn’t quite awake. Glad that you didn’t have an end-o.
And I almost killed myself last night walking up my icy back steps in flip flops (because was in a sauna previous)…that’s what I get for running out of rock salt! Replenished now 🙂
it doesn’t technically have almond in it but Lou Lou does have heliotrope and that has a very milky-almond quality, so that is what I wore today.
Very nice.
You smell fabulous! I think Lou Lou suggests almonds, too.
Wearing Castelbajac Beautiful Day L’Eau Original today which is teeming w/ almond. 😉
My work motivation is quite low today and I am looking forward to a 3 day weekend! Due to two upcoming audits, I have worked the last three weekends in a row and this weekend I plan to do no work. 🚫👩💻💪🏻
I hope you can enjoy your 3 days off and rest and recharge!
Have a peaceful and well-deserved break!
A quiet weekend sounds like the perfect thing for you.
I’m in Lea for the cp. I never knew I liked an almond note in perfume until I had this one.
I do love almonds in food though, and especially almond butter, mmm yum.😋 I can, and have been know to just open the fridge and grab a spoonful. It is so delicious. I will never go back to peanut butter.
I had a massage this morning and it felt so good. I just love my massage therapist.
Happy Friday everyone.🌞
Do you like fondant? I understand it is primarily almond flour.
Pretty sure Frederic Malle L’Eau d’Hiver has an almond(y) note, so wearing that today. It’s a beautifully sunny day, but it’s definitely Hiver out there.
You smell great AnnieA.
I decided against my only almond perfume (Fourreau noir) and went with L‘ Air de Rien instead. It was much too warm for the Lutens today. Yesterday a patient gifted us several tester bottles of perfume, because she works as a stockist for niche perfumeries. Thankfully i found something i liked, so i have a nearly full bottle of Laboratorio Olfattivo ´s Daimiris. We should have more patients like her….
So thoughtful, what a treat to care for folks like that. In my case, just someone who says Please and Thank You would be so nice. ☺️
Wow, what a sweet patient!
What a wonderful gift!
Amazing generosity!
Phi for me today, for the slightest hint of almond in the opening. I’m ready for this week to be over and to take a short vacation to somewhere (kinda) warm.
Phi is just gorgeous! We were almost twins because that one was my first thought for today. ❤️
I wanted to wear Phi today. However, today I learned that my decant evaporated when I wasn’t paying attention. 😢
PHI was all tobacco on me. Not even a hint of rose to be found.
Totally unplanned but I get CP points for Nicolaï Kiss Me Intense. My IG project is wearing and evaluating 365 different perfumes this year, and I realized I hadn’t worn any Nicolaï yet (I have quite a few) – the random pick was fortuitous. Very almondy/heliotrope forward today. Question – do we ever do swap/freebiemeets any more or do people just offer up things in the comments section? I’m definitely trying to reduce, especially my samples, and I don’t have IRL friends who like perfume (which is truly SAD!)
The freebiemeets are kaput. But swapmeets are still A Thing. The next one should be sometime in April.
You can do freebies in any poll or in the next swapmeet, which is April, splitmeet probably in May.
My doggo had an outstanding first Vet appointment. He was super good and everyone loved him. They said he seems to be a mix of cattle dog and Jack Russell. I declined the 200 dollar dna test. He is healthy but I need to cut back on feeding him so much.
I am wearing Infusion d’Amande right now but feel like changing to something obnoxious for stinky work tonight.
Twins with the work attitude! Glad to hear the little mister is doing well, and $200 for a non-essential DNA test?! That’s crazy! 😳
Smelling great! I looked for my mini of Amande earlier this week; turns out I already finished it.
Glad your doggo had a good appointment!
Such good news about your dog.
Hooray for a good vet appointment!
Yay for doggo! 👏
Yay for your new pup being a Good Boy at the vet! 😇🐶
But Boo Hiss for a stinky day at work! 🦨
👍 on the pup’s excellent report!
I’m in Copal Azur
You smell great lucasai! Hope all is well.
TGIF all,
Dentist done
Taxes tomorrow
then this expensive week will be over.
SOTD is Silky Woods.
We are having similar weeks…did dentist on Weds and plan is to start taxes tomorrow. We’ll see if I really do it! It usually takes me a while to MAKE myself do it.
Smoothie is parsnip soup from the supermarket.
To round up the almond week, I had worn my two héliotropes during the marzipan week + Jasmins Marzipane, I picked Police Forbidden, very strong almond in that one and tonight Traversée du Bosphore which I haven’t worn in forever and is so good, its sweet almondy rose is especially lovely.
Is parsnip soup very different than carrot soup? I’ve never seen it.
No almond notes for me, but I did have almonds with my breakfast yogurt so I did smell them today!! Wearing Field Notes from Paris, which seems perfect for this sunny, cold, pre-snow day. Off to lunch with an old college friend….nothing better than those who have known you for nearly 50 years and STILL like you!!!
Yes to those old friends! Have fun!!
There’s nothin’ like bein’ with an old friend . . .
https://youtu.be/gg5NFkFLFyw?si=pzP2n2xN_fNotbIk
Your lunch sounds wonderful. Hope that you enjoyed it!
I’m wearing Jeux de Peau today. It doesn’t have almond listed as a note. I would happily eat an almond croissant from the bakery that inspired this scent, so I claim a half point for the CP.
Yes to an almond croissant! 😋
I wore Louve today and it reminded me of Jeux de Peaux, so I think you’re onto something.
Double points for me. Kiss Me Intense with a layer of Elie Saab l’Eau Couture on top. Bitter and sweet almond.
In fact, I think I need to replenish.
Double points, excellent!
Fragrantica’s Perfumes/Search by Notes feature confirmed I’m an almond fan. Today, I’m trying to find the almond in TM Innocent. I like both the bottle and the scent, which on this cold day seems quite light. A lovely snow is falling, and this afternoon and overnight we are supposed to get several inches. I’ll be able to appreciate it since I can stay home.
You, Aurora, and lillyjo mention TM Innocent on a regular basis.
To help me rotate more of my fragrances – as well as my too-big collection of b&b products – I devised a system a few years ago that includes a theme or two for each month, and I wear many – but not all – scents that evoke that theme for me during that month. For February, my themes are chocolate and roses (separately or together), two of my favorite notes. And when I can use one of my selected fragrances for that month as my SOTD for the cp, it makes me doubly happy! So, for today’s cp I chose the unfortunately d/c Pacifica Mexican Cocoa, a favorite of mine. The bitter almond gives the cocoa and spices a dry, nutty edge and is keeping me warm and cozy on one of our seemingly rare cold winter days.
It’s been a fun week with a Beatles’ Love Songs program at my library with Professor Moptop (WXRT Radio Breakfast With the Beatles), the film 🎥 Titanic on Valentine’s Day for our classic film series at our historical theater, and tonight, best of all, we’re going to see my favorite cellist/musician perform live in a History of Love concert. ❤️🎶
Sending 💘🥰to all NST’ers and wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!
An excellent week ending with Mexican Cocoa, good for you Laila! I miss all those early Pacifica scents, they were so good.
Enjoy the concert tonight!
I understand that Un Bois Vanille has an almond note but thankfully it is so deeply buried I can’t smell it. I like raw or toasted almonds, and almond butter, but not marzipan or almond-flavored food. Funny, isn’t it, what is appealing and what is not about a single food.
It is – I love raw almonds but toasted seem meh. I love (really love) marzipan but dislike almond butter. I like almond flavoring in most things. You smell fabulous. I only recently tried UBV and I can see finding almond it it.
Totally understand what you mean. As a kid, I loved raw carrots but didn’t really like cooked ones.
My daughter called cooked carrots “those old wet carrots” when she was little lol
Had a wonderful time with a dear NST friend this morning and I believe another Rauque convert was born💕
Wearing Mon Précieux Nectar for the cp and very grateful to a generous NSTer for this beauty.
Looking forward to seeing The Taste of Things this afternoon starring my favorite actress, Juliette Binoche.
Oh! Now I must go research Rauque. How nice you meet up with fragrant friends IRL!
Perfumista meetups are the best!
I’m watching her now in the Apple TV show about Christian Dior. She plays Coco Chanel and is quite obnoxious–which is how it’s meant to be. I don’t think the program is very good, sadly.
I wondered how the Apple TV show would be.
❤️. And smelling great!
Began with almond in HdP 1725 (I’ve been working on that sample most of the week). Haven’t figured out what I’ll wear this evening. Headed to dinner and a play. Maybe Le Parfum de Therese, it’s been calling to me.
Have a great time tonight!
Testing Cafe Cabanel today… not complying with the CP but maybe I sniff something almondy or tonka in the dry down? 🤷🏻
I’m baking a flourless chocolate cake for the first time. The instructions are very easy but now I’m a bit paranoid it won’t set. It’s still in the oven, so fingers crossed!
I love flourless chocolate cakes…hope it turned out perfect!
Really raw day here, weather-wise. Enough wind that a brief walk was rather unpleasant. Precip started around 2pm, and wasn’t quite snow at first. Currently there is a dusting of snow out and a “Real Feel” temp around 13 degrees F.
Glad I am inside with Teflon kitty!
SOTD = Cartier Le Baiser du Dragon. I have 2 perfumes that I know contain an almond note, and this was the first one I found. It suits today’s weather quite well. ❄️☃️🥶
Stay warm! That weather sounds rather unpleasant. 💨 ❄️
Yep, unpleasant but short-lived. Temps will be bouncing back up in a couple of days.
13 degrees is way too cold!
You smell great! I keep forgetting I have a sample in my purse stash.
Oy about the real feel temps!
Sounds like a great time to hang out with Teflon kitty, plus you smell wonderful. I have a mini.
That’s the wind chill and not the air temperature, thankfully.
Glad I got the bottle of Le Baiser when I did.
And this should have been a reply to lillyjo!
