It’s Black Friday! (Also, Evolution Day.) Our community project for today: pick your Black Friday poison...wear the last fragrance you bought, wear a cheap thrill, or wear a fragrance you love but refuse to buy in a full size because it's too expensive. (We've done this project several times.)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I’m in the last fragrance I bought, Tauer Perfumes Golestan. (It is possible I will make it to January without having bought any perfume at all in 2023.)
Reminder: oops, we've run out of projects. I'll refill the bowl by Monday!
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Georg Jensen Elephant Moneyphant Piggy Bank is $99 at Saks Fifth Avenue.
SOTD is the most expensive (on a per ml basis) perfume I own, Roja Parfums A Goodnight Kiss. I have the little 7.5 ml travel spray, and there is no way on earth I would ever spring for the 100 ml full bottle. Even these days when $200 + for a FB doesn’t raise an eyebrow, and $50 is considered “free” in perfume math, the price of this one is shocking.
I am too afraid to go check the price! Hope it is lovely.
It is beautiful. It smells to me as if Apres l’Ondee and Meteorites had a love child. It is an extrait, which makes the price a little less shocking, but then again, who needs 100 ml of extrait?
I’m wearing a hajusuuri level of sprays of Sira des Indes today, that’s the only way I can smell it for longer than a minute. It’s both my last perfume purchase and a cheap thrill, my bottle was $15.
I have the day off today and I might spend it watching old movies. Nothing can drag me into any stores on Black Friday. Anyone found any good deals?
The only store I plan to go into today is the grocery store. I figure this should be one of the least busy days of the year for food shopping.
I thought it would be too, but I went to the grocery store a few hours ago and it was actually quite busy. Oh, well it’s done now.
I just got back from my grocery run, and it was not bad. It was sort of busy, but no worse, and maybe even a little less, than I would expect for a normal weekday afternoon. It did seem, however, that the amount being purchased by each shopper was a bit less than usual. There were a lot of people getting just a few things or a half a cartful. None of the heaping-to-overflowing carts that are the norm in the days immediately before Thanksgiving.
I went to the grocery, too. Made my list, checked it twice, mostly basic stuff. Milk, eggs, pork chops, Italian sausage for spaghetti. Flour for my sourdough obsession. Nothing unnecessary. As I wheeled around, I realized I was adding stuff not on my list. “Oh, that looks good!” No, Deva, it’s not on the list. So I put everything back that wasn’t on the list. 2 1/2 bags of nothing fancy, $91 😒
I haven’t found any sales that appeal to me. The sales seem to be lack luster this year.
I work in retail, but luckily I’m not working today. Yesterday the boss was stocking the fridge with stuff for the Good Friday staff — they always provide food that day, not out of the goodness of their hearts but because they don’t want anyone leaving for lunch — and he asked if I was coming in, to which I could only say, “Why would I want to do that?” (in italics). I have my own food and I am resolutely avoiding the mobs today.
Back when I worked in a liquor store that was our Christmas Eve, a buffet table set up in the back and nobody allowed to leave. NOT a pleasant day though I do enjoy free food.
I can’t even imagine what your New Year’s Eve was like!
Woot! I hope the scent stayed longer this time around.
Sadly, no. It’s too bad because I really like it for the few minutes I can smell it.
Avoiding in person shopping today, too. I have a shirt I need to return and thought oh so briefly about doing it today. And then realized what a bad idea that would be.
Wearing Spiritueuse Double Vanille from a 8ml decant. As much as I love it, I can’t justify almost $400 USD for 100ml.
You smell amazing. And I feel the same about many fragrances.
Ouch.
My last purchase was Lush Let The Good Times Roll, which at $42 CAD is practically free, so it’s a cheap thrill, too. I don’t get any popcorn from it at all, which is a shame, but that creamy buttery salty vanilla caramel is plenty.
Speaking of popcorn scents: long long ago — the late eighties, I want to say, before widespread internet and Demeter-style single-note scents — there was a line of roll-on scents called Smell THIS! I mail-ordered five of them, if I remember correctly: Birthday Cake, Leather Jacket, Campfire, Café Latte (or something like it, some milky-sweet coffee), and Buttered Popcorn, which was astoundingly convincing, right down to the salt. Man, I’d love to have that again.
You got an enabler pin for the body spray of Let the Good Times Roll! Now I am eyeing the new ones that Robin posted about earlier today.
I am too! I probably don’t need Sticky Dates because it doesn’t sound as if it has any dates in it, just caramel, and I already have LTGTR. But I’m going to smell it, and whatever others I can get my hands on, tomorrow (I was thinking about going today until I realized what a terrible idea that was).
I adore Sticky Dates shower gel but never use it on its own, it’s too sweet for me. So I’m tempted by the spray but I’d have to layer it, and therefore wish it was one of the perfumes. One spray from that bottle would probably be too much for me.
I remember Smell THIS! I had a few of them. My favorite was Peach.
I think it might have been called Canned Peaches? I wanted to order them all — they sounded so novel and exotic in those days. I considered myself lucky to get any at all. There doesn’t seem to be a whisper about the line on the internet, although it’s probably Google’s fault — it’s been getting progressively worse as a search engine.
PSA- just leaving Bloomies and all beauty is 15% off including Chanel! Which is never at a discount.. picked up a few Chanel items
And Bloomies took away their Guerlain counter 😡
What?! That’s a shame. 🙁
Which is why I shop at Saks and Bergdorf Goodman.
That is great!! Enjoy your Chanel purchases.
At Holts in Montreal, it was 15% off on all perfumes, including Guerlain and Chanel.
Nice deal on those Chanel goodies! What did you get?
Once again a in JM Ginger Biscuit. 100ml is $168 on the JM website. You get a 5 piece gift set with the purchase of a full bottle for those so inclined. Not a bad deal for a 100ml.
Like a few others, I have some grocery shopping in store for me today. Also, other chores like camper cleaning, emptying tanks, filling propane, etc. The propane is a killer because I have two tanks that weight at least #30 each that I have to lift over my head, even with a step stool, to fit into the propane compartment. Ugh! I’d rather dump tanks than deal with the propane… alas, the cost of of living small.
For those shopping I hope you find great deals! I’m skeptical because I was in fragrancenet the other day looking at Nicolai perfumes. They have 2 that I want but they are the big bottles, which I don’t want! Anyway, large bottle on Wednesday was $124, and yesterday when they sent me their Black Friday email, I looked again and it was $134…🙄 What a deal! 😂
Ginger Biscuit is on sale for $145 USD from SSENSE below which I think is in Montreal.
I sniffed this years ago, forgot to get in on the recent split but am debating getting a FB due to the madness that is Black Friday. 😉
https://www.ssense.com/en-us/everything-else/product/jo-malone/scent-of-the-season-ginger-biscuit-cologne-100-ml/15172571
I wonder what the shipping is from CA? Does it offer the price difference and GWP?
Offset*
Sephora usually does a fragrance only coupon mid December. They carry GB.
I just got 10ml from a split, so I’m fine with that. I wasn’t looking to buy so much as to compare prices. I also wonder if She-ra quoted US or CA dollars? And the fact that some post BF prices are more than they were two days ago. Shoppers be smart! I went to the grocery today and got gas so now I don’t have enough to buy a gum ball…😒
Wearing Covet by SJP this morning, and that concludes my cheap thrills week. Have a great Friday everyone!
And that’s a great one!
In Clinique Wrappings. It was a cheap thrill when I bought it a couple of years ago. I don’t know the price these days, but I am sure it is still an affordable amazing perfume.
I’m doing deep cleaning today at home, and I might buy the holiday and birthday presents for my nieces later today. I always get them clothes since toys are a big task that I prefer to avoid.
Happy Friday! 🌻
Hand onto that Wrappings if you like it. Clinique didn’t release Wrappings the past couple of years, and it isn’t on their website so far this year. Gift sets that sold for ~$30 three years ago are now going for $250+ on ebay. It is certainly possible they may bring it back again, but it is by no means certain.
Eek! Thanks f
Sorry about the comment misfire above. And thank you for the heads-up; I just have purchased my bottle of Wrappings the last year it was available.
It would be very sad if Clinique discontinued such classic holiday scent. I will keep checking to see if I can get a BUB.
Some NSTers have offered Wrappings in perfume swaps previously. So you might want to let folks now you are looking for it.
* “KNOW”, not “now”.
You smell wonderful of course. I got my set a few years back in January while perusing the company website.
You smell great! I ❤️ Wrappings and will be pulling it out for my December perfume tray. After reading everyone’s comments, I’m really glad I got a BUB of this, something I rarely do.
You smell great! I bought Wrappings when it was first released. Etched in my mind it will always be Upper West Side Manhattan Christmas trees for sale on the street with snow falling from the sky and melting on the asphalt.
YES to Wrappings! Very glad I have a BUB of it.
Great choice for a used-to-be-cheap thrill! I love Wrappings and I’m glad you’ve reminded me that now is a wonderful time of year to wear it. I’ve been shocked at the online prices now that it seems to have been discontinued; so glad I grabbed a cheap set when I first went down the perfume rabbit-hole several years ago.
Beautyhabit: $10, $20, or $40 off
FZOTIC: travel sprays; soap sampler is on sale

Indigo: 20% off in stock bottles of $85 or more
Coupon code for the 20% off at indigo: 2023blackfriday
Also, 20% off at ZGO with code FRIDAY23
LuckyScent code is FRIDAY2023
Soivohle has a holiday sale right now: https://shoutout.wix.com/so/d8OkmViLX?languageTag=en
I have never tried any of her scents. Are there certain ones you like?
SheriG and I are both nuts for Paracelsus, which is a dark rose scent with chocolate and tobacco accents. I get mostly dark rose, dark chocolate, and some spices. I can also recommend Green Oakmoss. It reminds me of vintage Ivoire de Balmain.
I am intrigued by Circa 1969, which I have never tried. Liz Zorn does patchouli really well.
Good to know.
I went for Comme des Garcons’ Copper, which – although the note seems to be missing from the official list – to me is the ultimate tobacco scent.
And why wear it today? Because thanks to a good deal I discovered for Black Friday, I was finally able to pull the trigger on a full bottle before my current decant runs out.
Nice, congrats!
I found another example of the Santa Claus bird ornament I was talking about a little while ago. It looks to be the same as mine, except that mine doesn’t have the spring attached to the hanging loop. I don’t know if that was added later, or the one from mine just went missing, but it would be easy to add one if I wanted it.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/364573853330?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28
Wow, that seems expensive to me.
Very!😳
Hello all!
Jicky and I are having a late morning. I’m out of coffee and having a tea instead. No fragrance yet but I think I’m going to go with Feu d’Issey since I managed to find a bottle for such a great price. I’m trying so hard not to buy anything today but I’ll admit I have been tempted.
I’m almost done with the sweater I’ve been working on. It’s a very large brioche pattern so it’s just flying by, but I’m dreading the next part. It has a technique I’ve never done before. Will probably have to turn off the TV for that part.
Have a great day everyone!
Good luck with the sweater! I think brioche is a blast. What is the technique that lies ahead?
Last night I started the second sleeve of a pullover for myself (sleeve stitches picked up at the armhole, body knit in one piece, so the only seaming is the shoulders and that is done!). Had hoped to have it finished to wear for Thanksgiving but will certainly finish it by Monday.
Ah, I have to join the shoulders with a 3 needle cast off. I might be ready for it tonight honestly.
Good luck with your sleeve. I was hoping to have mine done by Thanksgiving as well. 😓
My sweater also used 3-needle BO for the shoulders. I much prefer it to mattress stitch but hadn’t done it in perhaps 15 years. Hope it goes well for you!
I’ve only done top down to this point but I think it’ll go alright!
you certainly smell great wrangling your brioche stitches
Thank you! It’s been a fun pattern so far.
I am CP compliant in the last thing I bought, Ginger Biscuit. Today is Christmas decoration day at chez Foxbins. The Frasier Fir candle is lit, the wreath is on the front door, and when it warms up a little I’ll put up the LED outdoor tree. No indoor tree here anymore, although I think I’ll be looking for a tabletop-sized one in the after-Christmas sales.
I hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving.
I put up my new fake tree today, but did not fluff it yet so it looks terribly sad. Will work on it tomorrow.
I’m in my second most recent bottle purchase and a cheap thrill. Back in early October I found a great deal on Imaginary Authors Yesterday Haze travel spray for $17.50 so it was a no brainer of a blind buy. Luckily, I like the perfume (fig, yay!), so that’s the best kind of blind buy.
Yesterday, we had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving at home, just the two of us. We had pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and pecan pie. The pie was store bought and the green bean casserole from cans (which I like because that’s what I grew up eating), and the meal was a success.
Tomorrow, I think I’m going to an outdoor Christmas Market at Seattle Center (where the Space Needle is) with a friend. It’s a new event here so I’m excited to check it out.
It’s funny about green bean casserole; usually I prefer fresh/homemade things, but when I have tried green bean casserole made with fresh or even frozen green beans, I didn’t like it as well as when it is made with canned green beans.
Exactly, same here! A few years ago my friend had my boyfriend and I over for Thanksgiving and made green bean casserole from scratch for us. She wasn’t really a fan of the dish herself but knew how much I loved it. While it was a very good version, I think you still need to at least use French’s onions if you’re going to cook the rest from scratch.
I can’t see the point in doing it from scratch, since using canned beans and soup is easier AND we like it better. Of course, I’ve never tried using homemade cream of mushroom soup for it. I do make cream of mushroom from scratch, but when I do that, I cannot conceive of using it in green bean casserole; we’re going to eat that soup as is.
A Christmas Market near the Space Needle? That sounds like a lot of fun!
Yes, I’m excited! We’re going to arrive at 3 so we get a mix of some daylight and dark so we can enjoy all the lights. The sun sets here at 4:23 tomorrow.
Not remotely CP compliant as I am once again commando. I almost bought a travel-spray set of OJ Woman in the very good sale someone posted about here a few days back, and then…decided to save my pennies.
I am winding down the essay grading I started last weekend and have just discovered that I forgot to post HW for Monday for one of my classes. That’s embarrassing.
Oops! Glad you are almost done with the grading though.
It’s 5C but at least the sky is blue and I’m willing myself to jump up and go for a walk. I should be thankful that I’m not into wild swimming, as the idea of leaping out of bed to plunge in the cold sea makes me quake. Wearing Ys-Uzac Immortal Beloved which I’m hoping will blend well with the roses in the cemetery.
That’s colder than it was here!
I am in Shalimar MVP-
I don’t know why I didn’t spring on a FB of this, and its 339 on some sites which is insane!
I wonder what next years limited edition Shalimar bottle will be? Rose maybe? Lavender?
I will try to keep my comments about this next venting rant polite and nonjudgmental…but I was really upset to wake up this morning to news that my beloved NYPL building had been vandalized by protestors. They didn’t get the memo that we are in a tough spot with budget cuts to the city -which has really affected the library branches. Everyone has a right to protest, the library has always welcomed groups to our steps to speak their minds, but defacing a building that stands for free thought, is just beyond. I get the message the protesters were sending, but this could have been achieved without costing the library.
So sorry about the NYPL building. That’s how I feel about people protesting XYZ by defacing historic paintings.
Oh no, I understand why you’re upset.
Someone posted, if I remember correctly, that they heard next year might be rose.
I, for one, also understand your rage. 😌
I heard rose too.
I’m furious about this, too…for the same reasons. Times are tough enough at the NYPL without adding this cost and chaos to the mix. And I hate to see any art or historical structure damaged for any reason that could have been avoided. The NYPL belongs to everyone.
It’s terrible what happened but methinks they knew the cost to clean it up.
I’m sorry ltsg.
As a person who was born, raised and lived in the Big Apple for three decades I’m absolutely appalled at what’s happening. But then again, the riots of 2020 with billions of dollars in damage and over 100 deaths was overlooked.
FFS! That is the absolute wrong way to get the message across. Suffice it to say that a have an extremely low and profanity-ridden opinion of those people.
Argh! “I have”, not “a have”. 🤬
That’s not protesting, it’s an excuse for hooliganism. It’s happening all over the world. Incredible property destruction a few days ago in Dublin by “protesters” who were upset by a man randomly stabbing 4 or 5 people, 3 of them kids. I don’t understand how destroying police and public property helps these victims…😒
Totally agree.
Horrible. Destruction of property is never justified in my view.
Guys, we are borderline with the comment policy. Totally get everyone being upset but pretty please let’s end that part of this thread now, thanks!
Sorry Robin!
Let’s stick to talking about Shalimar 🙂
No worries, and I do understand being upset about it.
Commando again today as I wait out this rash. Used some cortisone cream this morning, and it is helping.
I did end up pulling the trigger on 3 FB on sale: Shalimar extrait, Les Indemodables Musc des Sables, and Jovoy Psychedelique.
Still lounging in my PJs. In a few hours my mom, cousin and I will head out for some lunch and wine tasting.
The trick is do not scratch. Ask me how I know. Also, some perfumes may be okay on day 1 but turns into an allergen the day after.
Ugh. Hope that rash goes away soon.
I got a message from Scent Split to get 20% off everything with this code, BF23. They don’t sell full bottles but samples of various sizes. I’m strongly tempted to get samples of three things: Amouage Lineage and Byredo Mojave Ghost. I also want a sample of Parfums de Marly Valaya, and might look for it on another site. Scent Split carries the line but doesn’t have that one. These are all more expensive than I am willing to pay, but I’d especially love to get the Amouage one.
Not showered and scented yet but I’m planning to wear Indigo Smoke, the last perfume I purchased and the one I’ve worn most frequently since I bought it. By Arquiste.
Dinner was delicious yesterday–my friend purchased the entire meal from the local HEB grocery store and cooked the freezer to oven turkey breast, and we had the entire feast: turkey, cornbread stuffing, green bean casserole, and sweet potato casserole. Yummy and I have leftovers! Their green bean casserole was particularly good as it was full of very delicious, real mushrooms. She doesn’t like it that much and gave me all the leftovers from that! Plus we ate my pumpkin spice cookies with cream cheese frosting for dessert, and shared Churu treats with her kitties.
What a feast.
That sounds so fun and tasty!
Yum to your meal and yay for leftovers!
I have used Scent Split and was pleased. I am not sure about their prices relative to other decant websites but they have stuff others don’t.
Thanksgiving shared with a friend feels even more special, doesn’t it?
Sounds like you had a wonderful holiday!
It’s a crisp, clear and cold Seattle day and I am very happily wearing my latest FB purchase, SL De Profundis. I found a bottle reasonably priced and am so glad I did.
In other news, I made a maple pecan pie from a New York Times recipe and boy was it delicious.
Your pie sounds amazing!
Ooh, I want to try that pie! Can you post the link if it’s behind a paywall or the recipe if it is?
Let me know if this doesn’t work and I’ll find another way. It’s delicious!
https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1022734-maple-honey-pecan-pie
Thanks I was able to view it with a free login!
Ah, spring! After a glorious day on Wednesday, it was very average on Thursday and back to winter on Friday, today is not much better.
Black Friday sales have become a thing in this part of the world too, although we don’t have a Thanksgiving to connect them with. However, I didn’t give in to temptation, none of the discounts matched up to perfumes on my buy list.
Post-shower, I’ll wear one of my recent cheap purchases, L’Heure Attendue.
From what I can see online, Black Friday has become worldwide.
It’s a testing week for me, but I am also CP-compliant. Last month I caved in and bought a decant of Berdoues Assam of India. I also added four samples/little decants of other scents: Berdoues Hoja de Cuba (reviewed – ok, but not exciting), Berdoues Maasai Mara (very nice, yummy), CdG Blue Encens (not tried yet) and Hermes Eau de Basilic Pourpre.
I am testing Hermes today. No bad, but I expected a stronger basil note and, frankly, better performance. It is so quiet! The dry-down surprised me – soft herbal, woody amber. So far I think the dry-down is the best part of this fragrance.
Verdict: not bad, but underwhelming.
I did not love that one either, and it sounded so good…
FragranceNet seems to be offering 35% off on everything today.
Some of the “regular” prices seem to be higher than what one could get at a department store without sales.
Yes, check carefully. I found better prices elsewhere.
My SOTD is FM Portrait of a Lady. Although I do have a few miniature bottles thanks to a generous NSTer and a 1 oz travel spray bottle, I refuse to get a larger bottle because of the price. Maybe someday, but not today.
You smell wonderful, of course. POAL was my Thanksgiving evening fragrance and I was reminded of all her glory😇
I need to wear POAL soon. It is iconic!
POAL is another fantastic dark rose perfume. You smell lovely!
Thanks.
I would love to purchase three bottles:
Ensence Suave
Anine Bing
Dior Tobacolor
But I won’t.
Maybe use scent split coupon but Anine Bing only sold on their website.
Post shower today – Dzing!
So perfect for cold weather, wore it last week i think
SOTD: Black Gold from Ormonde Jayne, signed by Geza Schoen, the last fragrance I bought. Mine is the gradient black bottle, which I suppose was produced around 2018 or so. My friend told me that the qualities of OJ were messed up during the pandemic due to supply chain issues. No idea if it is true, but guess mine is fine (and the Gold collection has been discontinued either way.)
Besides, I ordered some cheapies on FragranceNet. Animale, Rochas Muse, Ungaro Apparition, etc. I also noticed someone is selling the discontinued Black Vines by Kerosene. I am still doing the research to ensure it can be a safe blind buy for me (and wait for the price to drop a little bit), but that will probably be my next target.
Oh, I love Black Vines. Not sure it is a safe blind buy, but I do love it.
Happy post-Thanksgiving to all! I wore Shalimar Tonka yesterday and was struck by how good it is. I wore MVP a week or so ago and that one has been macerating nicely as well. It’s a real toss up as to which is better. 🧐
I may have bought the last bottle of Jasmins Marzipane from FragranceBuy this morning. I thought it was discontinued but it appears Selfridges actually has it too. It shows OOS on FragranceBuy now…hopefully it will ship. 😅 Never got around to buying a FB of that one.
Congrats on JM! Love that one.
Yay for finding JM!
I just made a fun and exciting Black Friday purchase – front and center balcony tickets to see the Grand Kyiv Ballet perform Snow White here next month! Tickets were 50% off!
Oooh…that will be amazing! Enjoy! ♥️ 🗡
Oh, that sounds like fun. Enjoy!
How cool! Enjoy!
Enjoy!!!
I’m CP-compliant in Perles de Lalique, which is my latest purchase *and* a cheap thrill: $25 on Fragrancenet. I still have a bit left my original bottle of PdL, which I bought (at full price) at Bergdorf years and years ago. It’s a gorgeous, peppery rose-and-sandalwood mix.
I did make small Black Friday purchases from two of my favorite makeup brands, Flyte.70 and Surratt beauty. 30% at both sites, not bad!
Wishing everyone a restful weekend.
Ah! You just reminded me that I have a bottle of Perles de Lalique around somewhere. What a wonderful dark rose perfume!
And it hasn’t changed, as far as I can tell! What a relief. I thought it had been discontinued!
I didnt do any perfume shopping today and am not wearing my last perfume buy today (i think i bought a used bottle of Roma and Memorie d´une Odeur), but decided to wear Dryad today (from a used bottle i bought some months ago). Such a great scent!
Bought some Shokz earphones today for a good price, they are great for cycling and i discovered that my in-ears were causing eczema in my ears, so i needed something else.
I did not buy any perfume today either, but did stock up on tea and chocolate 🙂
In a Thanksgiving coma today …
SOTD = Guerlain Iris Pallida Extrait
It’s probably (thinking hard, thinking really hard) my most indulgent purchase of the year. The bad news is I got one bottle. The good news is I did not get 4 which I would have had they not been $$$ …
https://www.instagram.com/p/C0CoO0QxZOl/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
I thought I wouldn’t be bringing home any food from the festivities last night but it seems I have 5 meals covered. I kept telling myself I did not eat that much, but when I thought back, I have to say I over ate. I had one glass of wine (which really counted as 2 since it was a big pour), then there were pre-dinner appetizers of shrimp, ham, rolls and assorted dips. By the time we got to dinner, I was already full! Anyway, I had a good time and that is what counts.
As to Black Friday sales, I haven’t yet decided and may not until Monday …
I can’t remember if you are a Dusita Splendiris person, but it is about 1/2 the price it normally is at other places on fragrancebuy. Just in case you are interested. I decided to get a BUB. I got my first bottle there when someone let me know it was about 1/3 off the normal price.
I am but I am set with what I have. Thanks.
You smell great. If it was cheaper I would have bought four bottles too.
😂
It is SO easy to overeat at Thanksgiving, it isn’t funny. I managed to stop when I thought I was still a little bit hungry, and that worked out perfectly yesterday.
We shall see if I have the same self control tomorrow at Friendsgiving.
Enjoy! It was one of those where my eyes were bigger than my stomach … I am ok now though.
I think BG is having a beauty gift card so you can spring on those other bottles from Guerlain
In a cheapie today, Mauboussin Histoire d’Eau and tonight Angels’ Share, a full tester bottle bought two years ago for less than a third of the price.
You find some of the most amazing bargains.
And best of luck with stepping away from your prescription. I hope it works out for you.
Thank you, I’m nervous but want to do it.
😀 thank you, this one was a true bargain and I love it.
👍
😀
Forgot it was Friday, so I sprayed on Gourmand Coquin, which I bought at discount some years back as a present for myself. If I’d thought about it I might have worn Shalimar MT. But, I’m about to spray on more GC, so I’m sticking with it.
It is one of my favorites!
In the spirit of Black Friday, my SOTD is Stash SJP layered over BBW’s ‘Black’ body products from a few years ago. With its black pepper opening, its black bottle details and warm spicy notes, Stash certainly suits a gloomy and chilly Black Friday and also works for today’s cp as a favorite cheap thrill (that I got on sale for even cheaper!)
Yesterday’s Dim sum was awesome, followed by a walk through the Asian neighborhood and ending with a stop for bubble tea before heading home. (I really, really have enjoyed the lack of Thanksgiving prep and the lack of cleanup afterwards!) Following this morning’s yoga class, we made a brief trip to pick up a few groceries, and now I’m relaxing before tonight’s community tree-lighting celebration and Winterfest.
Looks like my grandtwins have inherited some of grandma’s genes, as both have put fragrance on their Christmas Wish List. 😀
Wishing everyone a lovely weekend ahead!
Dim sum and bubble tea sound great! And no cleanup is even better!
After Dim sum we crossed the street to another of my son’s favorite Asian restaurants (famous for their duck; we ate there recently for the other 3 family birthdays, delicious!) so he could pick something up for later. They apparently had a special takeout of turkeys for Thanksgiving and my son was already salivating in anticipation of maybe next year’s Thanksgiving? (OK by me; I won’t argue.😉)
I second what jalapeño said! I think dim sum is the ultimate meal because you just order as you go.
The restaurant we went to is one of the few that you don’t even have to order, they just constantly bring carts to the table filled with multiple choices so all you have to do is say Yes or No as everything is being offered to you. Pretty awesome!
Wearing Tonka Imperiale today, with a small spritz of PdE le Cri.
You smell amazing
Hello NST!
I was enjoying Thanksgiving at a friend’s house yesterday. She put on a traditional turkey dinner with roasted Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes and gravy, chestnut stuffing, and homemade cranberry relish with port. I ate very well and had a wonderful time socializing. Didn’t get back until late last night. And she sent me home with leftovers for more tasty meals!
So I was thankful that I wasn’t spending Thanksgiving alone this year.
Today’s CP match is one of the latest perfumes I have purchased, and one that I will NOT ever buy in the full sized bottle. Thank goodness for travel sizes!
SOTD = Tom Ford Oud Wood, from the Sample Stash. The travel spray is still sealed, and will probably remain that way until after my move.
Today was back to chores, both mundane and moving related.
Sounds like you had a thoroughly good time, yay for leftovers.
Thank you Aurora! I did. Having lunch with the friend who hosted next week.
I’m so glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving with friends!!! And my travel spray of Oud Wood was thunked in less than two weeks!!
Thanks!
I’m so glad you had friends to spend the holiday with! And let’s fact it, most of the time friends are better than family.
No family on this end of the country for me. But next year I can spend it with my brother, which will be fun (assuming he doesn’t have to work). He’s been a rock for me the past few years.
You smell great! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving and a (maybe 2?) Friendsgiving to attend!
The Thanksgiving dinner invite was not expected and rather recent, while the Friendsgiving has been on my calendar since August or September.
Good news on your nice Thanksgiving. One baby step at a time will get you there! 🤗
Thanks Laila!
Glad you had a good day.
It sounds like you have a fragrance on that is popular, but sounds a little too masculine for me.
That particular TF is solidly unisex to my nose. I don’t get any “dude” vibes from it at all.
I’m looking forward to another fun day tomorrow. Getting psyched!
🤣No “dude” vibes. That’s funny!
Have fun tomorrow!
Thanks Kris!
I’m very happy you had a nice Thanksgiving.
Thank you lillyjo!
I’m glad you had such a nice feast – traditional but with a few gourmet touches.
Ginger Biscuit
No idea if I’m CP compliant
I don’t care cause I smell delicious! Lol
You just got it, so doesn’t that mean it counts?
Well it was a gift from a close friend. Does it count??
Of course it counts!
Even if it didn’t, you are grandfathered in for cp points! Lol.
😻
It counts for sure!
👍
After thinking on it, I’m making a stretch for the CP in vintage Helena Rubinstein Heaven Sent. Fragrantica gives this note list: bergamot, lemon, orange, neroli and spearmint. Heart: rose, carnation, ylang-ylang and lily of the valley. Base: amyris, patchouli, vetiver, sandalwood, oak moss, musk and benzoin. I get carnation, ylang-ylang, amyris (balsamic note), sandalwood, oak moss and benzoin – everything I’d want in a niche offering, but I would not want to pay for such. I find the Dana version is not so changed, but the MEM version of HS is just an echo. Heaven Sent is one of my pre-perfumista loves. In other news, I was so excited to smell someone wearing a chypre at the buffet yesterday. Alas, I got caught in a swirl of servers and diners moving and chatting along the tables, so I had to step back from the line. I then could not figure out who had it on. I’m behind on comments, but I am sure you all smell wonderful 🙂
You smell wonderful! Vintage HR Heaven Sent along with vintage Houbigant Chantilly are my 2 lifetime favorites that I still wear. I found several bottles of each a few years ago either on line or at estate sales – even a HR Heaven Sent Parfum mini for $1.00!
What a great find. I have some Chantilly I’ll have to get to know better.
I remember HS! Used to buy it at the local drugstore. Same with Chantilly. Back in those days there were no online retailers so that’s where I went for my cheap thrills. Amazing the beautiful fragrances that I bought for a song!! (Emeraude, LAimant, Sand and Sable, Vanilla Fields, etc, etc)
I have a small bottle of vintage HR Heaven Sent EdP that I picked up somewhere. It was very popular back when I was in high school. There really were a lot of very beautiful perfumes to be had at the drugstore in those days. They would indeed be cheap thrills today, but with as little spending money as I had then, they were major purchases for me.
I’m working until 1230 am tonight. I’m not doing the cp, because I always wear Coco on Black Friday. This year I am in the Parfum.
Holy crap, that’s a LATE night! Hang in there, friend.
I sure hope you get to sleep in tomorrow…
I hope it goes by fast – you will be smelling wonderful – Coco parfum: wow!
You smell amazing!!! I hope you get good sleep today!!!!!
Cheap thrill is relative.
I wore Donna Karan Black Cashmere I bought many years ago, probably a good online price. I looked it up now and bottles are going for $200 so cheap thrill no more. As much perfume as I own, I think the bottle will last me just fine. (This is similar to the Wrappings comments above.)
I worked today but the workload was light and no desire to be around shopping centers.
I remember picking up my bottle at a discounter for a song. I don’t wear it often but it’s a great scent.
oof, those were the days!
Very late to this thread, but I bought Tilleul from Provence Sante for my sister, whose birthday is coming up and it arrived Friday early eve. And since it was an online purchase of a mostly full bottle from a site that rhymes with Snee-hay, I wanted to try it and make sure it was still good. It is. We both love linden and she was just remarking that she had run out of her latest linden fragrance, which I think was Jo Malone Lime Blossom, (which I believe is linden in British speak, right?) Anyway, I know she likes the Provence Sante line. And so.
