It’s Friday (the 13th) and the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. Birthdays: Art Tatum, Lenny Bruce, Paul Simon. Our community project for today: we're off to India! Wear a perfume that is named for a place in India, or that reminds you of a (real or imaginary) trip to India, or that features an Indian ingredient, or ?
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I went with Neela Vermeire Créations Pichola.
Reminder: on 10/20, wear a fragrance that evokes one of Pantone's picks for the Autumn/Winter 2023/2024 NYFW Color Palette. (If you like, click through to the article and pick your fragrance based on the color name or description rather than the color itself, as in "Exuding the warmth and splendor of the sun, High Visibility expresses joy and good cheer." or "Sturdy and steady Burnt Sienna conveys a sophisticated earthiness." Also note that the set includes Viva Magenta, the color of the year...you could cheat and wear what you picked for that project.)
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I think we might need a year of disaster reduction the way things are going at the moment.
I’m wearing another Neela Vermeire, Mohur, the extrait. It’s such a big and dramatic rose, far too beautiful for a mundane Friday at work, but it sure makes my day more glamourous. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
SNAP on Neela Vermeire Creations. That Mohair extrait is amazing.
Yes — a year of disaster reduction, if not the remainder of the decade. Sending strength to all those who are mourning and suffering.
Scent twins! This perfume always seems to help me take a long view of history. Re: disaster reduction, it is sort of overwhelming, isn’t it? I like to remember this quote by Ramana Maharishi- “As I order my mind, I order my world.” Which I take to mean, Clean up my circumstances, home and finances, clean up my own mind, give as much as I can to good helping organizations, and then pray and do as much practice as possible for the benefit of all beings. Hmm, sorry if I sound preachy. It is just all very distressing, isn’t it?
Very distressing indeed, and I live in sheltered peaceful Luxembourg.
Still on the road: we’re in Berlin, the city we love the most of any city in the world, and having a really good time just exploring: this is our fourth time here and it still feels as if we’ve only scratched the surface.
Limited to the sack of sample vials I brought with me, but luckily one of them is Bois 1920 Sutra Ylang, which has an India-adjacent name, so I’m gonna claim one CP. It’s a dark, smoke-infused, entirely unisex floral, very much my cup of (Darjeeling?) tea.
Enjoy Berlin in your sultry Sutra. No better town for it.
That perfume sounds great! Enjoy Berlin!
Ah, Berlin! I have a whole Berlin playlist; I miss it! Enjoy!
Sutra Ylang is beautiful. I have a bottle, and I need to pull it out of storage with the rest of my fall/winter scents. The great procrastinator strikes again. Enjoy your stay in Berlin!
This morning after the pool I gave myself the merest swipe of vintage Shalimar extrait. Swoon. Been huffing the spot for half the day.
Tonight for bed, taking double points, Neela Vermeire Creations Bombay Bling got the gong. Just a single spritz from Jin’s bottle and I’m in heaven.
We have our big Australia wide referendum vote for First Nations inclusion in our constitution. With a constitutional voice in parliament about how we can help them (and us) move forward better together.
Looks like it won’t get up and I’m feeling a little blue about it tonight.
Hi, Portia,
You smell marvellous. What’s your pool like-you guys have such gorgeous pools I’m always jealous. Although Nova Scotia, where I live, is Canada’s ocean playground-we have nice beaches, too.
I’ve been following your referendum a bit, cause our countries have similar histories. The vote isn’t over yet-too soon to be discouraged, you beautiful human. I feel for what you’re going through.
Wearing my sample of Mona di Orio Santal Nabatea, and wishing I bought a big bottle when Etiket still carried this line.
Hoping all of us have some moments of mental peace today (including me!).
Best regards to everyone,
Carole
Heya Carole!
We have a brand new local pool, opened last month. They’ve done a really good job on so many parts of it. Olympic outdoor, 25m indoor, also a wading pool room and a kids splash and water park room. There is a well thought out gym, spa/sauna areas and an expensive but excellent cafe. I think it’s a real asset for the area.
Yes, will be out today in my YES T-Shirt.
LOVE Mona di Orio’s kine. You smell fabulous.
By some accounts the indigenous Australians have the oldest culture still functioning in the world! They are fascinating people. What is the source of the lack of support? Ah, too far off topic! I will go look it up.
I am no expert but have read and heard news interviews with some Aboriginal people who are/were against it because they do not believe that the same peoples and institutions who were so abusive and exploitative for so long can be trusted to “fix” the problems that they created. That is, working within the system is not a way to restore wholeness or healing; that can only be done by work done by and within the original communities who have suffered and been injured for so long.
Ah, that makes sense, hard to quantify units of productivity in the Dreamtime, I suppose.
Hi Calypso, yes there are a section of the First Nations who say this. There have been numerous polls among our First Nations across the country in. the last couple of years. Their NO vote has always been under 20% but the NO news, FB reels and YouTube are in the majority and their job of obscurification and pandering to peoples tendency to laziness has been masterful. Our general population has been played like violins.
Sadly, the only way for First Nations to work with the invaders towards better outcomes is in our language and within our structure. We have done them wrong in so many ways, it would be good for First Nations to have their own say in how we all move forward.
There is so much to be done and our First Nations are suffering much higher rates of trauma and its various responses, their lifespans are significantly lower and health generally worse. With this referendum they will be given a seat at the table in a group chosen from across their nations that cannot be removed when it becomes uncomfortable or when they give advice the government don’t want to hear, as has happened in the past.
Sorry for the rant.
Guys, guys…this is a long political debate that we should not be having here! Sorry I was out all day or I would have cut it off far earlier.
“No politics” is one of the primary ways we keep the scent of the day polls civil and friendly.
I won’t delete the thread now, and I feel for everyone who has expressed concern, but this is not the place.
Very sorry Robin.
It will not happen again. X
No worries at all, and no harm done. We just have to be careful…I do really like it to remain peaceful here.
Beautiful picture, Robin!
Wearing Guerlain Shalimar EdP for the CP.
Happy Friday! 🌞
Happy Friday to you! Enjoy your weekend.
Thank you, Jalapeno! 🌻
YUM for Shalimar.
😊
Commando ATM — tried to get blood work (fasting) done for an upcoming appointment and would have had to wait at least an hour — so came home to have breakfast and get ready for work (I am currently in between those two tasks). I went to the lab that is affiliated with my GP’s practice but I kind of expected the ridiculous wait — last time, I arrived just after 7 (their opening time), and literally could not get in the door because so many people were there. To use another lab I have to call my GP and arrange for a printed requisition, but it’s easier in the end.
Anyway. I had to go to the mall last week (I go to the mall MAYBE twice a year) and stopped by Lush to get some tiny shampoo and conditioner for my gym bag. And ended up also with a giant bottle of Rose Jam. Thus, I am back in the lovely world of shower gel. (It’s possible that Robin’s shock over my not having ANY also helped me come to my senses.) I’m alternating between Rose Jam and my scented soap stash.
I may see if I can get away with a light application of Shalimar today for the CP.
I had a doctor get me off of any supplements for two weeks before blood work.
Good for you hitting Lush! Hope you enjoyed the experience.
Ha, glad to force you to buy a bottle of Rose Jam 😉
Did you happen to smell the new “Flower Gel”?
I did not. I was already behind schedule (I only stopped at the mall because I’d been unsuccessful trying to do something at a non-mall location of a different store and managed to deal with it at their mall spot), and I find Lush overwhelming. Also REALLY felt my age in there — the SAs were very nice but I couldn’t help thinking they were 14 years old (probably very early 20s, I know that, I am surrounded by traditional-age college students at work, but still…). OTOH I picked up a small size of their Violet Cream conditioner (purple toning) and swapped notes with one of the (blonde, to my silver) SAs about purple toning hair products, so I think my feeling rattled was really down to having to make an extra stop and my general dislike of malls!
I know just what you mean…I mostly hate the mall myself these days.
Hello and tgif!
Sotd is Shalimar MI.
My thoughts: If you loved Shalimar but found it a tad strong; loved Shalimar Parfum Initial but sad that it’s discontinued; loved Prada Candy but wanted more complexity, then Shalimar MI is the answer. It smells like the perfect mix of the three. I love it so, so much.
Went to Cle de Peau to pick up the holiday highlighter (it is stunning. A mix of pink, beige, pale blue and ivory that gives a elegant, brightening glow to the skin.) and I went next door to Aesop to try out their perfumes. They were just okay though, except maybe Marrakech Intense – spicy, layered and long lasting.
I just looked up the highlighter-gorgeous! Which one did you choose?
I chose 106 Dawn of Destiny!
Scent twins. I bet you are glad you bought two bottles. I know I am.
SOO glad. Haha!
Ack! Your comparison of Shalimar MI to Prada Candy is making a perfume lemming stir in its den.
Not to try to enable you, but I have never been a Candy or a Shalimar fan and I now have two bottles of it. I love it for some reason😊
I really liked Prada Candy when it first came out. But never got a bottle of it.
I’m wearing Sira des Indes for CP points today. I really like this one, wish it lasted longer on my skin. I’m thinking of getting some of the lotion from ebay somewhere I can layer.
I wore Sira des Indes yesterday for CP points; it’s lovely! I’m glad it’s still easily available, but it may not be for long now that Jean Patou has been closed by LVMH (boo).
You smell wonderful, but SdI does not last long for me, either. FYI, the lotion and the bath gel don’t seem to amp it up much. I tried that too.
Thanks for the heads-up, MossyBerry!
I searched and couldn’t find a couple of CP appropriate scents, and then I remembered my Berdoues discovery set. I still had some Assam of India in the sample, so that is what I’m wearing.
Yay, more elephants.
SoTD is Berdoues’ Assam of India, which smells to my nose just like a cup of black tea with lemon. I bought it a few years ago for a ridiculously low price when our local Anthologie store had it on clearance, but I hadn’t opened it yet. So this week’s CP was the perfect excuse!
I hope everyone has good luck, not bad, for Friday the 13th.
I was thinking the same thing about Friday the 13th.😂
My mother always said 13 was her lucky number. 🙂
I am wearing Mohur Extrait for the CP, and continuing my declutter my house project, getting ready for adorable hubby’s surgery on the 25th. He will stay in the hospital for a few days until they are sure his liver is kicking into normal functioning, and then he will be home, unable to use his abdominal muscles for several weeks, so I will be in big caretaker mode. Thinking good thoughts, I expect lots of knitting time while he sleeps in front of the TV..
Decluttering is a job unto itself. You have been doing so much already.
I hope all goes as best it can.
Commando is good sometimes.
Decluttering is one thing I do have some control over, so it is more rewarding to me than it normally would be. I take lots of naps!
Piling on the Neela Vermeire train in Trayee for the CP. It’s blending nicely with the remnants of Tam Dao on my shirt cuffs. Hey, happy Friday the 13th! 🎃
Scent twins!
Leftover Shalimar body cream from yesterday. I got sidetracked while looking for Trayee, ended up in the back seat of my truck cab going through storage containers looking for something, I can’t remember what now, and stumbled across a new jar of body cream. I think I bought two when they were cheap as chips from some discount site back in 2020, used one jar up and promptly forgot about the second one. So, that’s what I’ll be wearing again today.
Got very cold last night, down in the 20’s and I had to turn my furnace on to prevent any frozen plumbing issues. Still quite cool, but above freezing, the furnace is off and I have an electric oscillating space heater that heats up the camper lickity-split, now 70F and comfortable.
Happy friYAY!
What a great surprise about the Shalimar body cream, and I’m sure you smell great. Are you having a good time in NM?
Yes, I really like the variety of environments in this state. I’m at my current location for a total of two weeks because I just wanted to sit still for a bit and there’s good hiking/biking here. The sites are quite large and private. It’s off-season now, so not that many people camping. It’s quiet, peaceful, and off the beaten path with mostly sunny days within the temperature range I like. As it gets colder I will meander to the southern part of the state. My goal is to spend as little money as possible to maximize my time off work. I bought an annual state park pass back in May so I can camp at any state park for free until May ‘24. Gas is (of course!) my biggest expense, so my travel style has definitely changed from when I started in 2017 and drove all over like a 🦇out of hell…I’m much more conservative with driving these days, even though gas here is about a buck cheaper than where I was in the PNW. It’s a real treat to just let the day unfold, have minimal plans and just enjoy watching the birds, lizards, coyotes, etc. My poor little soul was feeling very bedraggled and I really needed this down time.
I can’t even imagine working in healthcare in the US, it must be so stressful. So it’s good to hear you are finding ways to recuperate. I’ve never really visited New Mexico. I think I must have mentioned before that I spent 6 months in Phoenix in the early nineties and did some exploring in Arizona but very little outside it. The Desert States are spectacular. I remember getting back to my own country and feeling very cramped, I had gotten quite used to those big wide open spaces.
By the way, have you ever checked gas prices in Europe? I think on average gas is at least twice as expensive as in the US.
Yes, gas in Europe has always been about double here in the US. I remember through my childhood we had relatives visiting from all over the UK, and they were always gobsmacked at how cheap everything was including gas. But, the US Government subsidies keep consumer prices in the US lower than in Europe.
I love the expansive feel of much of the west. Being a snow bird works well for me. The SW US in winter is my biggest joy- temps are generally very comfortable and sun shines like a demon. I get all my sun exposure in winter because in summer I only move out of the shade if I absolutely have to. I never understood beach people and sunbathing…? Why? WHY? 😎
At what time of year were you in Phoenix? I can’t begin to imagine it in summer…🥵
From late September to mid April, the best time to be there.
When I was a nurse consultant I had New Mexico in my territory. I loved it there. I take it if you head south you may end up in Las Cruces. I liked it there a lot.
Yes, there’s some good camping down there in the winter. I’m looking forward to it.
Commando, as well. Lotion to come.
I’ve been following an animal abuse case for a long while, now. While you see some justice, really, America doesn’t really have laws that do much to stop.
Needing a good dose of creature fix. A beautiful day to hit the shelter and bring them all home.
Well, good for you to keep trying to help the animals.
Hugs, friend!
I haven’t put on any fragrance yet, but the first thing that came to mind was NVC Ashoka, so I’ll probably wear that today. I actually almost wore it a couple days ago, so it’s been on my mind anyway.
Have a good day and weekend!
Happy Friday Joe!
I’m going to be wearing Mitti attar for the CP, once I get going. No meetings today, after a long week of them, so I’m taking my time. 🙂
I love mitti attar and have a tiny amount around somewhere that I haven’t seen in years. Where is yours from, if I may ask? I wouldn’t mind obtaining more.
I bought mine a long time ago from a company called Liberty Natural Products in Oregon. It’s been probably 10 years and I haven’t ordered from them since; not sure if they’re still around. I got a .59 ml sample which is still good, though.
Maybe it’s a little too on-the-nose but today, I’m in Assam of India (Berdoues), an uncomplicated lemon + black tea scent.
Scent twins! I’m enjoying it very much.
Neela Vermeire Trayee – “hymn to the idea of India”. It looks like the house of Neela Vermeire is well represented today!
It is indeed!
We are house twins today!
Yes, surprisingly so! I mean, they are the obvious choice, I’ve only heard good things about them and I would really love to try them. If only they didn’t require quite that kind of financial commitment — although sadly, on second thoughts, other brands do seem to catch up rather fast 🙁 !
At least they have the travel sprays! Still expensive, but I appreciate being able to buy small amounts.
You are right about the prices. But you don’t have to buy a full bottle. Most of my scents are samples or decants.
Well, I looked and looked and couldn’t find anything thematic. I am wearing a spritz of Pacifica’s Waikiki Pikake for a very remote scent tie-in.
At least you traveled somewhere 🙂
Wearing NV Rahele for the cp.
Strange question: Has anyone had an allergic reaction to a collagen supplement? I’ve read that the animal products can trigger an allergic response.
I don’t know if it was an allergic reaction or just happened that I was ill, but I got a severe headache the few days I tried it. I stopped taking it and my headaches went away. What reaction have you heard about?
Interesting. My throat has been irritated after a regular cold resolved so I’m wondering if I’m having an allergic reaction to the collagen. I’ve read that the body can react to the protein (as austefan mentioned below).
I don’t take supplements so I don’t have any personal experience with collagen products, but collagen is a protein so it can trigger an allergic reaction. It doesn’t mean that it always will.
I have stopped taking it for now and am going to see if my throat feels better. I might reintroduce the collagen with marine products only to see if I respond better to that than the beef.
I have been taking collagen supplement for years and luckily have not had any bad response. I heard good things about Marine Collagen from Vital Proteins which uses derivatives from wild-caught whitefish.
I’ve seen that brand at the store and will try it. Thanks!
Vital Proteins is the one I had the headaches from, but it was not the Marine Collagen.
I tried mixed animal collagens, pork and beef and chicken, and had weird little reactions. I tried the marine collagens, then chicken only collagen, and I have now graduated to organic collagen from organic, grass fed beef. This stuff is great. I use 1 scoop plus a little extra in coffee, with a little MCT oil, a little vanilla and a little half and half. No taste at all, and after a week – 7 days, of drinking it every day, I can walk down stairs without my knees grating. After 3 weeks or so, I can move my right leg in all directions and the hip does not complain. I admit I don’t like it in tea, it changes the feel of the tea to a slightly consummee (how do you spell that) like texture but that’s just me maybe. When I don’t drink coffee I stir it into my oatmeal or Teff porridge or what not, since all it takes is one day for those nice little buffers in my knees to dissolve away…Every one is different, just keep trying different ones until you find the one that works for you. Greatly reduced consumption of ibuprofen and acetaminophen, with corresponding decreased stomach upset are sidelights I didn’t really think about until it happened. I can’t remember the last time I took an OTC painkiller, but it’s been months. Definitely worth experimenting with!
I’m so glad you’ve had such a positive experience. I love the chocolate flavor and drink it with milk – only downside is that it leaves me wanting a chocolate shakes😋
I’ve been taking Vital Proteins Collagen Gummies for about a year now with no ill effects. I’m doing half of the recommended daily dosage, since they aren’t cheap.
Maybe I need to try the gummies instead.
Didn’t know about the gummies. I’ll check them out.
LOL, I had no idea I was CP compliant in Shalimar MT until I read comments. I feel very ignorant right now.
Crazy week again. Another fall festival north of us that draws a lot of people, so there are many visitors in the county. Won’t be going that festival… Interestingly, the fall colors are not yet at peak.
We have overnight visitors arriving. I’ve had little time so left main cleaning to my husband. He still has some left, and they arrive within a couple of hours. Sigh. I refuse to criticize though. Six of us are going to a fish boil tonight. Hopefully it won’t rain. Fish boils are great fun.
I think I need more sprays….my nose is just not working as well as it should.
I’ve heard of fish fries but not fish boils. What do they use for those? What kind of fish? Is it good?
It’s kind of a tradition up here in our county, so a popular tourist thing, They use Lake MI whitefish. It’s a big metal kettle filled with water and salt over an open fire. The “boil master” lowers in white onions to cook. After awhile, it’s potatoes added. Then, finally and only for a short time, the whitefish is lowered in on a round rack. The boil master keeps adding wood to keep a boil. Once the fish is cooked, the boil master throws kerosene on the fire to cause the fire to flare up and create a boil over, which causes any of the oils and detritus to flow over and douse the flames. It’s quite the drama.
You’d think it’d be bland. Everything on the plate is white! But, you add some nice seasoning and melted butter, and it’s surprisingly tasty.
Thanks for the vivid description! I can imagine that it’s good. I ate some delicious whitefish up in Michigan last month.
SOTD is Shalimar MI. I think there will be a few of us in wearing this today.
We are smelling fabulous twin!
Yes, we are!
I pulled out my vintage Shalimar extrait for the CP today. Not looking forward to work today. For some reason, a Friday the 13th brings out all kinds of crazy. Good thing it is only a 4 hour shift, so it will be minimized.
I hope the shift went fine! You smell great, of course.
slept for 14 hours.
jet laggy I am.
Etro Shal Nur for the CP post shower, which could be anytime today.
House twin 🙂 !
I did think we’d see more Shaal Nur today!
Glad you are catching up on sleep.
I am wearing Diptyque Tam Dao for the CP, my favorite sandalwood perfume.
Happy Friday!
You smell lovely!
😊
One of those crazy/beautiful/tragic/marvelous weeks that leaves one with only 3 words:WTF…
Apres L’Ondee for a sunny hot day, this has been one spectacular Spring in SA so far.
Hope everyone is well, although I see the world is still pretty much unwell.XO’s🌹✌🏻
“WTF” is a very good description of this week! 😬
Just waving hello 👋
I’m doing the CP in Boucheron Jaipur Saphir. I looked it up and it came out in 1999; I’m pretty sure my bottle is from then. It still smells wonderful. At the moment I’m picking up a lot of peach and spice (cinnamon especially).
My week has been ok but I got three vaccinations on Monday, somewhat foolishly, and felt sluggish with a sore arm until today. PLUS I went to the dentist Wednesday, nothing major, just a checkup and cleaning, but it’s been a week of doing duties and trying to decide whether or not to turn on the news or just hide my head in the sand. This afternoon I”m going to solve the problem by going to a lecture on Thomas Aquinas and Descartes. That’ll keep my mind off things!
LOL! What shall we think about today?
The Israel/Palestinian Conflict
Or
Acquinas and Descartes
Do let us know the high points of the lecture. I miss that sort of thing…
Lol. I’m tempted to say the high points were the delicious refreshments that were supplied, including berries and chocolate cream cheese brownies!
A friend was presenting and I learned some about how Descartes viewed types of arguments through the lens of geometry, algebra, and proportions. It’s part of the advance from the medieval world view.
This was at a Catholic institution and I happened to sit at the seminar table next to a very young Ph.D. student in white robes, Father John. It made me extra self conscious about wearing a pretty potent perfume. But overall it was interesting with some good discussion and fun times with Latin translations.
Wearing Kenzo Amour Indian Holi for the CP today. It’s not my usual thing, but I love, love, love it. 💖 The basmati rice note is delish.
Tea of the day was August Dirty Chai, also quite yummy. I’m all in today! I just looked at the bag, and saw that this is a collaboration with Heretic. I will have to try the fragrance now.
Happy FriYay, all!
You smell wonderful. I thunked my bottle a couple of years ago, and I wish it was still available.
Thanks, pl67! It is a shame that so many beauties get discontinued.
Unfortunately, I don’t have anything overtly Indian like Shalimar, Mumbai Noise, Vaara, Un Jardin après la mousson or whatever else there might be.
I therefore chose Etro’s Vetiver: On the one hand it’s because the Vetiver plant seems to have originated in India before it was later introduced to all the other places the oil is now sourced from. On the other hand it’s for Etro’s obsession with their Paisley patterns both on their clothing and on their perfume packaging, which, although named after the Scottish town of Paisley, actually is an Indian motif as well, and was only copied and popularized throughout the West by Paisley’s textile factories.
Excellent tie – ins! Plus you have made me want to look at some Etro scents.
To be honest, I don’t really know how good their current lineup still is – they’ve recently discontinued most of the classics from their time when they were kind of the first/only fashion house to position their perfume range in a niche context.
Impressive!
I’m a huge fan of Etro clothing! Not that I can afford much beyond a scarf.
For the CP: Carven Guirlandes. I was thinking of roses yesterday, and a Fragrantica search found this. I love the flower garlands used in India for all kinds of social and ceremonial events. Funny story, too: my bottle is one of the old, pressurized sprays and yes, you guessed it, it got stuck on the downstroke! A wide, fine mist of perfume continued to “ppppppffffffffffssssssssssstt” as I quickly tried to stop it, pulling the nozzle off and finally getting the stem up so it would stop. The wonderful rose-hyacinth-galbanum juice was all over my hands and bathrobe. Guirlandes is a great thrifting find. I think it’s a lot like Rive Gauche. Does anyone else remember it?
I am pretty sure I have never heard of it! It sounds lovely. Sorry it was all over you though.
This morning I wore Samsara and now I am in Shalimar Souffle Intense for work tonight.
I do not like Friday the 13th. I agree with Dawn that it brings out the crazy. We have rain here the next few days.
LOVE Samsara! 😍
Hope the crazies leave you alone today.
When my mom worked in the ER she said Friday the 13 and full moons brought out all the crazies.
I’m wearing a sample of Beach Geeza’s Coco Moon which is mostly sandalwood and (non suntan lotion) coconut. I also get a waft of fresh cilantro, particularly in the opening, but it isn’t one of the listed notes so maybe I’m just craving coconut-cilantro rice!
Drinking gingerbread tea for an extra spice kick to go along with it.
And today I am drinking Earl Grey tea. I found some rather good decaf, for those times when I need to ease off the caffeinated stuff.
I surprised there aren’t more decaf earl greys since is it such a perfect afternoon tea
Banana, apples and yogurt smoothie
For the CP I chose Maderas de Oriente with its creamy sandalwood, and tonight I added Shalimar parfum de toilette, still my favorite concentration and Ode à la Vanille Mexique on my hand.
I’m fighting some residual fatigue since I’ve come home, I also have to adjust to the temperatures and uncertain weather of fall after the sun and warmth of Provence.
Sounds like you are missing Provence already…
I wasn’t even there and I am missing it already 😉
😃
Thank you Jalapeno, yes, I just have to adjust to cooler temps and less sunshine, actually the London weather was lovely in its own way today: some rain, some sunshine, mild.
It’s Lancome Santal Kardamon today–two Indian notes in one fragrance!
Double points!
For today’s cp I chose Pacifica Tibetan Mountain Temple, my favorite zen yoga scent and a perfect one for a cozy day spent indoors on a very rainy day, the worst one in a succession of them. But I got all my errands run earlier during a busy week so am quite content being home today, relaxing and tidying up a few loose ends.
Looking forward to a get-together with several extended family members we haven’t seen since pre-pandemic days tomorrow and then 🤞- weather permitting. – tidying up the garden and putting away the outside ornaments on Sunday, because before we know it that white stuff ❄️will be here!
Happy Friday and happy weekend to all! (And happy #82🎂 to Paul Simon! One of the best concerts I ever saw at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago a long time ago!)
Hope that your family get together does go off this weekend! October can be really touchy as far as weather is concerned.
Hello darkness my old friend….
I’ve come to talk with you again….
I was born and raised in the city of Simon &Garfunkel…. Love their music
Wearing Shalimar today like many others.
A happy bunch 🙂
Bright and sunny again today, but this is supposed to be the last of it. Feeling much more rested thankfully. I did wake up briefly at Stupid o’Clock again this morning though. WTH is up with that?
SOTD = Soivohle Calcutta EdP, from the Sample Stash. This is one of the “perfumes that got away”. I hemmed and hawed on getting a small 10mL bottle of it, and by the time I decided I would spend the cash, it was gone.
If anyone has ever smelled PurpleLoveSmoke from Soivohle, imagine that with a big dose of jasmine and tuberose added. I will still be smelling this until I shower it off tomorrow.
She had a huge sale not that long ago…. me wonders if she’s going to stop making fragrances. And I’m thrilled to see you wearing fragrance today .
I saw that sale and was sorely tempted by the Everbean, which was described as a rose chypre that was getting discontinued. Soivohle makes beautiful rose perfumes. Some of the other perfumes were getting reformulated/revised.
I wear perfume intermittently now. It’s a matter of, do I feel up to it?
Your perfume sounds lovely. I am sorry it got away.
Thanks lillyjo!
On the plus side, I do have something similar from Soivohle. And it is so concentrated that my little 10mL bottle is a lifetime supply, as long as it doesn’t turn.
Your perfume sounds pretty, you blink and they’re gone these days.
Calcutta is quite lovely! I am wearing a dab of it again today. Indie perfumers sometimes d/c things due to a lack of available ingredients. I have at least a dozen perfumes from Soivohle in those cute little 10mL bottles.
I’m part of the Neela Vermeire club in Bombay Bling. I love this one and am so glad I split the travel size two pack with someone a few years ago.
Having a nice leisurely day off, just relaxing. I’ve picked up a couple lattes and some donuts from the donut shop a couple blocks away and got to pet my favorite neighborhood kitty along the way. Currently watching the movie Aftersun. And looking forward to some spooky movies tonight since it is the Friday the 13th in October. 🎃
Enjoy the movies!
Thanks! It’s going to be pretty rainy tonight so that’ll help solidify the spooky atmosphere.
Assam of India
Those of you who have been around awhile remember that a summer several years ago I wore this fragrance seven weeks straight…. And counted the rows of elephants….
I remember that summer!
Lol
It was like you with the Korres lotion ❤️❤️
I remember!
I was counting the rows of elephants 🐘🐘🐘🐘
I am wearing Aftelier Secret Garden, and am claiming CP points because the central character in The Secret Garden was born in India. My reason for wearing it, though, is that I am in Corpus Christi for the eclipse tomorrow. When I travel, I like to take either small things (minis, travel sprays, or samples), or bottles that are almost empty. That way, I am not risking losing a new bottle in case something breaks or leaks. My original bottle of Secret Garden is down to just a couple of milliliters, so it is now one of my travel perfumes.
It’s late but I’m putting on some Radio Bombay to play along. 🙂
I don’t know that fragrance but I imagine you smell fabulous!
Joining Robin and probably a few others in Pichola. (I got a tiny bit of Mohur extrait in a swap and thought this would be time to wear it, but couldn’t find it. ) I like Pichola, but feel as though it smoothes out very close to when it fades away. My travel spray of Bombay Bling was another option, but I prefer it in colder weather, when the sweetness is tamped down a bit and the beautiful tobacco in the base really comes through.
Off to take a walk, and then to read what everyone else wore today!
