Christian Louboutin Loubidoo Rose ~ new fragrance

Posted by Robin on 10 October 2023 11 Comments

French luxury footwear brand Christian Louboutin has launched Loubidoo Rose, a new limited edition flanker to 2020's Loubidoo.

[Perfumer] Daphney Bugey [sic] presents the new limited edition of the iconic lucky charm Loubidoo, a Floral Woody fragrance. Ode [sic?] was inspired by a three-dimensional expression of a rose. The 90% ingredients of natural origin was brought to life via the expert extractions of a Centifolia Rose Pays Absolute, a Centifolia Rose Infusion sourced from the region of Grasse and an Otto Rose Essence. This intoxicating trio of roses bursts forth from the fragrance’s head note and gives way to a cedar heart and musk base notes, drawing out the flower’s true character to reveal all the sensual secrets between its petals.

Additional notes include strawberry.

Christian Louboutin Loubidoo Rose is $320 for 90 ml Eau de Parfum.

No, it’s the same bottle as the original Loubidoo, just in pink instead of red.

My first thought was, “Just think what a 15 year old boy might think of all these. Ugh.” My second thought was, “The entire marketing plan wa not developed by anyone with any fluency with American slang. Or maybe I just have a really dirty mind in my old age.” Then out of morbid curiosity I went and looked at the other bottles. The three released as a set seem targeted at young middle eastern men? The Prince? Pink ones seem more aimed at girls, but what if I smelled this latest rose one and liked it. I cannot see myself telling anyone that I am wearing a perfume call Loubidoo. Holy Mackerl, I feel old! LOL! I started to tell a story about preg checking cows, but that is just too far afield.

I have no idea who or where CL’s main market is, or if they care about fluency with American slang, or anything…the name Loubidoo doesn’t appeal to me but maybe people who really love CL shoes feel differently about all of it, who knows.

Are these actually selling? They’re so kitschy, and not in a good way.

No idea, but don’t think we’d have seen this many follow ups if they weren’t.

I see excitement about them on the female fragrance groups on fb, so I’m guessing yes.

I sampled a couple of these, once – can’t remember if it was through Sephora or Nordies, but it was definitely free manufacturers samples – and they smelled…kinda cheap. At least on me. And I’ll be honest: I’m totally into cheap sometimes! 😂 No snobbery here. Maybe just not their variety of cheap at this particular price.

I will totally forgive a batcrap crazy bottle and a silly name if it smells great, but that wasn’t my experience for the first two I tried, so…more for someone else! ☺️
