It's Monday and the International Day of Non-Violence. The swapmeet will be open through Tuesday, and we're expecting Donatella will be dropping by tomorrow too. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Christian Dior Eau Sauvage for what looks to be a sunny and warm fall day.
Reminder: 10/6 is Mad Hatter day. Wear your silliest perfume, or come up with a silly excuse to wear whatever perfume you wanted to wear anyway.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.
Note: the Dior Arty beret in houndstooth ("Imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri, the Dior Arty beret plays on House codes and the hallmark Houndstooth motif in a micro variation. Crafted in black and white wool, the style is embellished with a delicate black bow and the Christian Dior signature on the back") is $930.
Tobacco Honey
🐝 🍯
This is a true big honey fragrance
Some Guerlain lippy too, the one with honey, so having a honey day today
Guerlain lippy twin! I am wearing Kiss Kiss Shine Bloom in Floral Nude. Such a perfect my-lips-but-better shade.
I am going to look up your shade
That is a very nice color! You are right-its your lips but better 🙂
Did you see this luxurious lippy? https://www.guerlain.com/us/en-us/p/rouge-g-fantasy-bee-by-begum-khan-P044067.html?ppex=true&G044067
Oh my, it is gorgeous!!
Dear Santa, if you are listening….
I am also using the Abeille Royale skincare today. I while back a generous NSTer sent me some, and I have been a fan ever since. So I am really all honey today 🙂
LTSG you smell amazing! And if you like that cream I found some on F’net (not affiliated) and it was CDN 30$ for 30 ml size. Best buy I’ve seen on it.
oh my..that is very affordable !
I’m going to try to do a tea week, and first up is Tea Road by Momento. This was a decant I got recently and my first time to wear it. It’s more leather than tea.
I will be following your tea fragrances…
2nd.
Love that beret!
It’s going to be warm here today, so I’m in Fiori di Capri.
Busy weekend – we drove down Saturday am to Milwaukee. Went to the art museum, where I took many photos. It’s more about the building and location, although they did have some art I loved (some I snorted at.) Then the early evening show of Stop Making Sense at the beautiful old movie palace. Big crowd, some of whom got up to dance to the side of the screen or run the aisles à la David Byrne. Pristine print, loud sound. So much fun.
Dinner at a local downtown market for seafood. Delicious grilled shrimp tacos. Bought my birthday gift at the Apple Store…the SE watch. Then home…. Thankfully, I slept very well last night. Needed it.
Sounds like a great day! We lived in Milwaukee (Whitefish Bay actually) when the Calatrava was being built.
Did you see Stop Making Sense at The Oriental Theatre?
I hope we can get to the theater to catch it sometime this week. I’ve watched it numerous times but never on the big screen.
Yes, at The Oriental. We had coffee and donuts in Whitefish Bay because we stayed right near there.
Nice! My old neighborhood.☺️
I would never wear it, but agree it’s adorable!
Congrats on the new birthday watch 🙂
Stop Making Sense is so much fun! I’d love to see it in a proper theater. Talking Heads have been on heavy rotation at my house lately.
Hello!
Sotd is Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit. I smell exactly like a Lotus Biscoff biscuit. Positively delicious. All I need now is a glass of cold milk to go with it and I’ll be complete.
Speaking of Lotus biscuits, there is a new cinnamon roll recipe on New York Times (by baker Claire Saffitz, super talented woman) that uses it as filling. Looks really amazing.
I’m in Ginger Bickkie too! It’s a cool, rainy day so I’d probably have a cup of tea.
I heard the good news that JM Ginger Biscuit is being rereleased for this holiday season! I can’t wait to try it again.
Mmm, sounds like you smell yummy! Ambre Russe and Musc Ravageur are my two ginger-biscuit fragrances — it hasn’t gotten chilly enough yet here for either, but so, so good on days when one needs cuddly warmth.
Sotd Gallivant Bukhara.
Beautiful warm, sunny day here. We are going to have a week in the upper 70s. So thankful for it!
Happy Monday! 🌞
It’s just lovely, isn’t it? So much crappy weather this year it really makes you appreciate the good days.
You smell wonderful!
Summer heard that you were missing it! ☀️🌡️🌡️
I’m glad it was a nice day for you!
I think I’m going to do a vintage week. In going through my perfume collection I’ve been reminded how much I love vintage perfume. Today I am wearing Replique. I have this in both the extrait (in the bottle with the tulip shaped stopper) and bath oil. Not a silly perfume or name, as far as I am concerned, but this perfume was apparently at one time promoted with an advertising campaign that flew in the face of most traditional perfume advertising; one ad claimed that it Replique would not turn you into either a sexy siren or an unsullied ingenue, but rather that is was for women who were “interesting to begin with”. So I have decided that I am interesting, and therefore can wear this perfume.
A vintage week is such a great idea.
Sounds like a great marketing campaign to me! I might have some of this stashed way in the back somewhere….or it might be at my “offsite” location. (Long story.)
Lots of good smelling people here today! I actually got to meet a facebook fragrance person in real life this past weekend-she was smart and funny and has gorgeous skin and it was so nice to chat with someone who shares my interests:)
SOTD is a sample of Domteuse Encagee, which I like a lot. Stays very close to the skin and two people have already leaned closer to inhale, so success!
Hope everyone’s day is decent 🙂
Yay for Real Life Perfumista meetups! Those are so much fun.
I’m in Molecule 01, which I’ve made my Monday go to. It’s kind of a palate cleanser, work friendly and just kind of exists in the background. Perfect for mondays.
We are having a last blast of summer, and I’m loving it! Temps in the 80s with not a cloud in the sky. Please stay.😩🌞
I had a nice weekend traveling to see my favorite auntie, who was widowed in June. This is the first time I’ve seen her since my uncles memorial. She is doing well, better than I thought she would be honestly, and I’m so glad. She is a strong lady. I met up with my daughter yesterday for the drive home since we were both in the twin cities area and stopped for a mid trip lunch and quick visit with my son. All in all, a good day.
Sounds like a fun weekend! Isn’t the weather glorious? I do wish our AC didn’t conk out last week, we’re not messing with it til spring, but who thought it would be 85F in October? It’s fine though, the nights are cool, and looks like a big temperature dive later this week. I’m ready for sweaters.
It’s so amazing! I went for a lunchtime walk just to soak up some of this sunny weather.
Yep, 30 degree drop coming in the next few days.
Good to hear that your Aunt is doing well. I remember that you were quite concerned about her when your Uncle passed away.
I was, it was really awful.
Glorious weather today – sunny, warm, high of 84! I’m delighted.
Starter scent for today: AG Le Chervefeuille, because I can! It won’t last long, so I can plot my next choice.
Have a fantastic day!
Ah, you (briefly) smelled great today!
I kind of love that Le Chevrefeuille doesn’t last super long, because it means I can spray and spray and respray throughout the day and get euphoric every time…
We had a small front go through last night and the temp is supposed to max out in the mid-60’s today! An absolute delight! Some more storms later today but right now it’s perfect.
Wearing SL Chegui. Can’t remember when I last wore it’s been so long ago. It’s a great cool weather celebratory scent.
Happy Monday!
Chergui is so good.
You smell wonderful.
Chergui is so beautiful. I have half a decant I acquired ages ago, and it has aged like fine wine.
So your weather will be OK for traveling/motoring?
Wearing Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion today, a cheap thrill of incense, woods and a bit of powder. Thinking of bringing some decent tea or hot chocolate into work. Does anyone have any recommendations for instant hot chocolate that isn’t super sweet?
I don’t, but cacao husk tea with half & half doesn’t really need sugar and it isn’t quite hot chocolate, but it’s pretty darned delicious! I often add a spoonful to black tea when brewing.
I am wearing Nicolai Le Temps d’une Fete, because it can be translated as “Party Time”, such as that mad tea-party in the book.
Oh, excellent perfume and pairing idea!
2nd that!
Stat holiday today and I’m wearing Bulgari Black. Not silly in the least, I suppose. 🙂 After a lovely weekend it’s pouring today, but apparently we’re supposed to be back up in the 20s with sun next weekend.
I have to go put the doors and drawers back in the cabinets; had them off to paint the frame this weekend. At least the old cabinet colour isn’t showing at the sides and tops of the drawers any longer. (I’m not sure why the interior designer thought just painting the doors and drawers and side panels would cover it…but maybe I’m just too much a perfectionist?) Someday we will have drawer pulls, and then we’ll be done. I suppose I should just have bought new vanities, but I looked at them and didn’t find any that I liked, and then I hate to throw out something that basically works.
I think your vanity solution makes perfect sense. Why replace something that works with something else you don’t like as much?
It was a sort of silly bottle!
Wearing Fève Délicieuse, listening to WQXR and about to have a 2nd cup of coffee…probably Philz Unity. A feast for the senses happening here today. 😉
You smell oh so perfect! Just this weekend, I married the cylindrical container to the bottle – nekkid too long!
I decided to do a rose week since I don’t seem to have any silly perfumes. First up is Rose of No Man’s Land by Byredo. Received this from a NSTer and love it 💕
Looking forward to hearing what other roses you will bring out this week!
I’m wearing Mimosa pour Moi by L’Artisan Parfumeur. First day back at work and boy, was it hard to get my brain in gear.
I bet!
I am wearing Killian Angel’s Share from a new sample. I’m sure lots of people have tried this but I’ll give my two cents anyway: it’s sweet and smells very good, but also just like a bunch of other stuff. Not tempted to purchase, I think Ariana Grande Cloud would be a cheaper choice to scratch that itch, but I’ll enjoy my sample.
I don’t think my opinion is widely shared, but that is how I feel about the brand in general 🙂
Oh Robin! Agree 100%.
Good, glad I am not alone.
I usually choose my SOTD based on my mood, the weather, and what the day holds in store, but today is confounding on the latter point. Morning boyfriend visit, followed by a meeting with some ornery community members and an elected official to discuss vegetation management, then work with my colleagues in a committee, then grad school, then parenting, then off to the doctor for flu shots. The common thread I could find through all of that is that I want to smell really good, but not “perfumey” or challenging, so I went with Rahat Loukoum, liberally sprayed.
Sounds like you very much had a “Manic Monday”!
I wish it was Sunday, cuz that’s my fun day!
Such a great song, isn’t it?
Excellent choice!
Had an early appointment today and made a mention about all of the indigestion that I have been having. The doctor is thinking that I can’t handle the mass quantity of carbs that I have had in the past couple weeks is the culprit. So I have to cut back on the carbs. I can only have 2 small portions a day to see how that goes. Both my dogs got a bath today because they were getting pretty stinky and coats were kind of oily. Will be spending some time in Ubar when I dry out a little bit.
Good luck Dawn, hope that helps!
I’m forever snorting at silly perfume names but, looking at the perfumes I have, most of them don’t strike me as particularly silly. Somewhat exaggerated, for sure.
One that is fun is Mad Madame from JHAG, so that’s my choice for today.
Excellent!
$930 for a beret?
Today I wanted to wear something dry to counteract the rain, so I am wearing Miller et Bertaux Indian Study. Sometimes it is more cedar-y, sometimes more sandalwood. Today is cedar. It’s nice.
I spent some time last night looking at hats…it’s like purses, and maybe everything…whatever you think is the most someone would pay for the item, nope, someone is paying more than that 🙂
Starting off the week in Ummagumma for a silly perfume name. It’s cool and rainy today so this perfume is a perfect fit for the day. I have to go into the office on Thursday and Friday so won’t be able to wear perfume until those evenings. So I figured I’d get a start on the CP right away.
Thanks so much for all the kind comments and well wishes for my dad on Friday!
All the points!
I got the last of my freebies sent off today. I’ve already started collecting another box full of unloved ‘fumes, both bottles and sample vials. I’ll probably never get my collection whittled down to a “reasonable” number of bottles, but maybe I can at least get it down to just stuff I actually love.
Mission accomplished!
I recently bought a set of four Hermes Hermessence 15 mL perfumes and I don’t have the good sense to be wearing any of them today since I plunked down the cash for them. Instead I’m smelling like pears and blackberries by wearing Jo Malone English Pear & Freesia for day and Blackberry and Bay for evening…I’m sorry.
Oooh, which 4 did you get?
(And never apologize for your perfume, right?)
Since someone else mentioned their lippy today, I was remiss in mentioning mine today is Lisa Eldridge Luxuriously Lucent Kitten Mischief, my favorite everyday lip color.
That is such a great color! One of my favorites from her.
Posting late today. Got busy with tasks and errands this afternoon. The landscapers were on a tear here, with trimmers and edgers and leafblowers, oh my!
I did thunk my bottle of LUSH Sticky Dates showergel over the weekend. Maybe someday I will be able to smell it and not get melancholy…
SOTD = Korres Grecian Gardenia body butter on my shins today.
I have to start using my Sticky Dates shower gel. It was good while it lasted, I presume?
I was rather pleased at how my skin felt after using Sticky Dates. But the scent does have a bit of emotional baggage for me.
I’m sorry about the emotional baggage — both the emotion and the baggage-ness. It’s so tough when sad feelings attach themselves to scents. I can still barely wear Mechant Loup because I wore it during a disappointing breakup THIRTEEN YEARS AGO from someone I don’t even remotely regret leaving behind and can barely remember. But the hurt is still in there, waiting for the scent to push its button.
Unfortunately, sometimes that sort of stuff happens. I consider myself lucky that I haven’t experienced more negative scent/perfume connotations.
Massive bummer that you can’t wear Mechant Loup much after 13 years.
I just read the town near me is considering a ban on leaf blowers.
Wow. Color me impressed! Those things are so bleeping obnoxious. And polluting.
Wouldn’t that be great if that went through?
SOTD = Chanel Les Exclusifs Le Lion
👍 way way up!

In other news, please check out the swapmeet! Even if the swapmeet is off (officially tomorrow), if you see something you like, please email me. All the items are new with the exception of the decants.
Cute pic today! Rawr! 🦁
I love both those Lions!
It’s been a long day. I wore 2 of my favorite perfumes. I started out in TF Metalique for the car repair place. I then switched to Carven L’Eau de Toilette for a nice lunch with my Aunt.
My daughter sprayed my travel spray of Scents of Wood..Acacia and declared it a 10 out of 10 and then took it to her room. Lol.
Lol, wait till that happens with purses, shoes, jewelry…my daughter was a borrower. She’s got good taste! Glad you can relax after your long day.
Do you think you will ever see that Scents of Wood travel spray again?
Utterly unsilly today in Hiris. Unseasonably warm here today, and even warmer temps forecast until Friday (80s!). Mr. Skal and I both read today at a memorial service for a dear friend, and so I wanted something beautiful but light. Hiris was perfect. Our friend lived a very long and beautiful life but we still miss her terribly (and her adult grandchildren’s remarks made everyone tear up).
Got my flu shot this evening. The pharmacy had run out of its COVID vaccine already, but I figured I’d get the flu jab while I was there. Will call some other local pharmacies tomorrow that may still have the COVID vaccine in stock. I was happy to hear that the scientists who contributed to mRNA vaccines were awarded the Nobel Prize today.
Lovely choice with Hiris.
I’m sorry for your loss. And Hiris is indeed lovely!
My sympathies on the passing of your friend. I hope the memorial service brought some comfort and/or closure.
Wore Le Labo Iris 39 oil. It’s still going fairly strong after at least 6 hours. It’s much cooler out so it could explain the longevity, and I only used a drop or 2.
