Happy Friday and happy Hobbit Day! It's also the last day of (astronomical) summer...the Autumn Equinox will start in the early morning hours of Saturday (in the northern hemisphere, at least). Our community project for today: wear a fragrance that says adiós to summer, or hello to fall, or wear your favorite transitional fragrance. (If you're in the southern hemisphere, adjust accordingly!)
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm in Aedes de Venustas Oeillet Bengale, which I included in 5 perfumes: incense fragrances for fall.
Reminder: 9/29 is Diana Vreeland's birthday. Wear one of her favorite perfumes (reportedly YSL Opium and Chanel No. 5), or wear something equally bold, or wear something from her posthumous perfume line, or take inspiration from a Diana Vreeland quote (more here), or ?
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Coromandel.
Beautiful choice!
Great one!
Gorgeous!
I’m working from home today. Hopefully just in the morning so I can get some cleaning done. A warm day ahead.
I’m in not-quite-hajusuuri-level-but-close sprays of Cuir de Lancôme. Leathery floral goodness.
We had an Oh My! moment last night around 8:30 pm. What sounded like some firecrackers turned into a full-blown fireworks show in our town. My guess is it was off the town marina. It wasn’t as long as a 4th of July but it was intense, especially at the end. We are guessing it was related to a wedding at the nearby resort across the harbor. Must have been fabulous…it was clear, warm and no moon. I went out our front and could see bits through the trees. Our neighbor was not happy. She goes to bed very early.
Amazing choice of perfume!
Perfect transitional perfume!
Forgot also to mention that I agree…Robin smells great. I have a backup set of travel sprays of that scent.
One of Lancome’s best perfumes, IMO.
Good morning, fragrant peeps!
I needed something very familiar and beautiful so I went with-Eau d’Hadrien EDT. And I must need comfort cause also wearing a really soft scarf around the neck-it’s a lot chillier here, and I’m not ready to let go of summer yet.
Hope everyone’s day is awesome in at least one respect 🙂
I feel a bit wistful too. The dog and I sat out on the balcony this mornng, enjoying the sun. It won’t last much longer…
This summer was way too hot, but I am feeling wistful too. This is going to be a long hard winter.
Robin, I hope this is ok to say but I often think of how awful this year was for you, and hope you’re getting through things ok. I have been reading NST for more than a decade but wasn’t sure I really had something to contribute-thank you all for being so welcoming and generally fabulous.
As for the winter I’m trying to lift more weights (more muscle=more energy) and trying different forms of yoga to get me through. After Nov I have to just keep prodding myself to get through till March and better weather. If I was rich I’d leave Canada for the winter-I think our winters are just the grimmest things. Here’s hoping we all come up with ideas for how to use time usefully, and get through whatever we have to get through.
Oh of course it’s ok to say, sympathy is always welcome 🙂
Yoga is nearly the best way to get through anything, and I wish I was better about making myself just do it!
I know you hate winter at the best of times, so I really appreciate your dreading those cold and dark months, especially this year. Wishing you strength!
Thank you austenfan. I keep reminding myself that summer is no picnic anymore either.
Also feeling wistful. Hugs, Robin.
Hugs to you Jalapeno! I can’t remember if I ever knew…do you ski? Or do other outdoor sports that you’ll enjoy in Colorado?
I used to ski when my knees where much younger than they are now, LOL! And lift tickets were somewhat affordable.
Bikes are almost everywhere in CO, too.
Hello and tgif!
Sotd is Guerlain Tonka Imperiale. Delicious and very Guerlain. The smooth vanillic cocoon and light smokiness make this a perfect transitional scent.
I am seeing pumpkins in my local supermarket. I bought a big one. Tonight’s menu’s pan-fried chicken thigh with oven roasted pumpkin. The rest of the pumpkin will become pie over the weekend!
You smell wonderful! One of my favorites, I plan to wear it a lot this fall.
Pumpkins are everywhere here already. Our town’s pumpkin fest is in 2 weeks.
Your supper sounds wonderful!
I am impressed that you use fresh pumpkin to make pumpkin pie! I happily try to make most things from scratch, but it would never cross my mind to use anything other than canned pumpkin for pumpkin pie
Seeing a lot of pumpkins at the farm stands and farmers markets here. One behemoth was 85 pounds!
I went with ELdO Eau de Protection.
My husband and I are planning on getting our Covid vaccine this morning. I am afraid I went a little heavy on my perfume spraying so they may want to get me out of there fast. 😊😊😊
Oh what a great idea – wrapping a protective layer around that old summery self and warding off all that cold and darkness of the coming months !
I need to do that next week…hope you have zero side effects!
As of tonight, I just have a sore arm.
Oh yay! That’s not too bad.
You will be doubly protected!
LOL
Hope that your arms aren’t hurting too much now.
Just a little, but no big deal.
Thank you for your kind words yesterday.
Today I am wearing Etro Anice. Robin put it in her “hot and humid weather” list, but I think of it as a transitional fragrance – when it is still warm but no longer hot, with that occasional autumn chill.
You smell great Glannys!
That’s a great perfume that doesn’t get much mention these days.
As pre-announced last week, I chose Eau d’Italie’s Paestum Rose, which for me somehow has quite a melancholy feel and always conjures up the image of the remains of a rose bush among the ancient temples in the golden late autumn sun, the roses themselves being already completely parched – and therefore of that extremely dark, almost black colour that red roses tend to get when they dry.
You smell wonderful. This is one of my fall scents as well…I probably said that last week. 🙂
Beautiful description.
I love Paestum Rose, that’s a fabulous description.
I’m starting a day early with my one transition-to-fall scent, a little routine where I retire Yves Rocher Homme Nature (my one transition-to-spring scent) and break out YR Nature Millénaire Pour Homme, the most convincingly autumnal thing I have ever smelled: it calls to mind fallen leaves crunching underfoot, damp earth, and an incipient chill in the air. It’s a marvel.
That sounds wonderful! Wish YR would get back on track.
I 1000% agree with you on Millenaire! I have the women’s version, and it’s my favorite autumn fragrance.
More Rochers for me to explore, yay and thank you for these recommendations.
In Comme des Garcons Ouarzazate for the CP. Nice spicy incense scent for the cooler days of early Fall.
As usual, as this time of the day, I am having my second cup of coffee and an apple turnover.
Happy Friday! ☕️
Lovely perfume choice and your breakfast sounds delicious!
Thank you, Cazaubon!
incense + an apple turnover sounds like a wonderful welcome-back hug from Fall
It is a warm, cozy combination for sure!
You are tempting fate with that combo!😉
Lol!
YES to incense!
ALWAYS!
I’m heading out in an hour to go sniff Shalimar Millésime Iris and the re-launched JM Ginger Biscuit, so just a tiny spritz of Bois d’Arménie to the chest. Feeling a bit wistful about the end of summer, even though I love fall. Cuir Cannage in particular is calling me. Maybe tomorrow…
Ooh! (excited squeals) Ginger Bickie is back?! Not seeing it yet it on their site, so please please report back. In the case of GB I *will* brave the shall we say non au fait SAs of our local JM store.
It’s at Holt Renfrew, not sure about Jo Malone boutiques. They are just receiving their holiday merchandise.
oooh, Ginger Biscuit!?!
And they’ve got a spiffy LE bottle this year, caramel color with a striped bow.
https://www.jomalone.com/product/25946/118167/colognes/ginger-biscuit-cologne
Robin the Enabler! 😂
Didn’t take much 🙂
Enjoy your sniffing!
Thanks, I did! Ended up finding a decent vanilla lotion at Bath & Body Works: Cozy Vanilla Bourbon. Shalimar Millésime Iris is quite nice and goes through lots of phases: caramel, Shalimar, then soft iris. Ginger Biscuit smells as always.
They also had a bell jar of Serge Lutens Santal de Mysore I wanted to buy, but at $395 CAD plus 15% sales tax, I resisted.
15%! Dang!
$395? Zoinks!
So glad you found your vanilla lotion!
We found a nice cool place, Navajo National Monument, so we’ll hang here until after the weekend. I think we’re 6500ft, so about 15*F cooler! Did I mention the campground is FREE?! 😀 Some nice trails and ruins but unfortunately doggo can’t go. I’ll take her around the loops in the campground where she can met and greet and get some extra lovin’ from strangers, which is apparently better than the lovin’ she gets at home.
I’m definitely in the “transition to fall” mood wearing SB Smoked Ambergris. Slept with the windows open all snuggled up under some blankets last night and it was wonderful! I did finally get a halfway decent night shot, but it’s still not sharply focused. Better than previous, so I’m happy with the progress.
Happy FriYAY!

Sounds like a wonderful place to camp!
Smells fab because of the abundance of juniper and pinyon trees!
Now that sounds great! Love juniper & piñon.
Navajo National Monument is beautiful, I visited there in the early nineties. It’s used in Once upon a time in the West as well.
Glad to hear you slept better.
Probably about when I was there…maybe we passed each other 🙂
I was probably wafting big clouds of Paris YSL 😉
Ha, and I would have been wafting nothing, probably!
Back in 2011, the college I was attending offered a trip out west, entitled “The West as America’s Landscape.” The focus being classic Western movies and TV shows. and the image these projected about America to the rest of the world. John Ford loomed large as we visited numerous sites where classic westerns were shot. It was a great trip, and kind of hard to fathom now since westerns aren’t pervasive like they used to be. My father, who was born and raised in Ireland, loved this genre his entire life, fondly calling them “💩kickers”. I think the rugged individualism portrayed by characters in these movies hooked him. The broad appeal of this genre across the world is really amazing when you think about it.
I’m actually not that fond of the genre in general but love the Leone westerns, Once upon a time in particular. I spent six months as a research assistant in Phoenix Arizona, and I have remained fond of those wide open spaces ever since.
Leone introduced me to my first love- Clint Eastwood. As a 13 year old I had a huge poster of him wearing his hat and poncho, cheroot dangling dangerously- a still from one of the SL movies he starred in. Alas, he ruined me for all other men. 😉
That is gorgeous. Nothing better than wilderness and no moon for sky viewing. We’ve had northern lights recently but cloud cover. Too bad we didn’t have last night…
Oh, the northern lights! I hope things clear up and you get to see them. That’s another thing on my bucket list!
Beautiful picture, Deva!
Thank you!
Glad to hear that you got a somewhat decent pic of the night sky after all!
I’m wearing CdG Black edt.
I need to pull that one out. You smell great.
I’m in Eau d’Italie Sienne l’hiver this morning. I bought it when I was in Munich for Oktoberfest (along with Paestum Rose, both half off), and wore both throughout my two weeks there, so they both always remind me of Oktoberfest. Ah, my fall of freedom, pre-Ockeghem Teen, when I could still fit my dirndl. 🙂
And Robin, you smell wonderful!
Oh thank you, and of course so do you. I would buy both myself if I saw them half price!
Where did you find perfume half off? My husband will be checking Ludwig Beck, Oberpollinger and Brückner on my behalf.
Somehow I still can’t quite wrap my head around a girl in a dirndl at Oktoberfest wearing Sienne l’hiver, but then, I suppose, that’s what perfume nerds like us tend to come up with 😉
As for the choice, you’re absolutely right about it being an autumn instead of the winter scent the name would suggest. Although, to be honest, to me it feels more like the latter part of autumn, Novemberish maybe …
I’m wearing Sacrebleu Intense looking out over Lake Geneva. It’s very windy today with dramatic big clouds, all in all just stunning.
Do keep reporting from Lake Geneva! Am there in spirit…
I’m leaving for the South of France tomorrow. Which I’m looking forward to, but still, this lake is magical.
Same here.
Sounds lovely! I wish I had bottomless pockets so I could travel all over for the rest of my life. Europeans are so lucky because you don’t have to go too far to be immersed in a completely different culture. I hope you have a fabulous and restful time, wherever you may roam. ✈️🚗🚢
Yes, Europe is like this patchwork of different cultures and languages. And thanks, I’ve been having a great time so far.
I’m with Deva! My DH traveled for work to Geneva a couple of times and sent back a photo of the view overlooking Lake Geneva from his hotel room balcony. I was truly awed.
I hope the Man Ray show was good. I have loved hearing about your holiday , and picturing the places you visited ( I once lived near Geneva and would go back if possible).
I knew next to nothing about Man Ray, the only work I was familiar with was his Violon d’Ingres. It was a good introduction to a very quirky artist.
This area is just so gorgeous, I would love to spend some months here. So I fully understand your wish to go back.
Yesterday and today, thanks to tulipani’s enabling, I’m wafting 3 of Olivia Giacobetti’s fragrances for Zara: Livre Blanc, Vapeur Blanche and Popeline Blanche. I like them all, especially at the price!
They are unisex colognes but have decent staying power, especially Popeline with the neroli note. Livre Blanc reminds me of her IUNX Talc and Vapeur has a fresh cedar note.
Looking forward to the swapmeet tomorrow!
Oh thanks for mentioning this, I walked past Zara on Wednesday but couldn’t remember what I had wanted to smell. Will stop in today.
Struck out, they didn’t have them. Will try again later.
Gasp, my first enabler pin!! 😋
So so tempted by the travel sprays of Livre Blanc and Vapeur.
Congrats!
I think a couple folks here would love something that resembles IUNX Talc. You might get some enabler pins for that info!
It’s definitely autumn here despite the continued sunshine. Wearing Patchouli 24, and it is time for me admit that it’s not me. Thanks to the label, I can see that it has taken me an entire decade to face the fact that even on the perfect autumn day I’d rather be wearing something else to suit the season. We live and learn
It’s too smoky for me.
LOL! Never thought about it before but I’m very glad there aren’t dates on all my perfumes.
It’s feeling so fallish here today, but I went with Dasein Summer as a last hurrah. Weather and golden leaves notwithstanding, our summer garden is still in full flourish so smelling like a cilantro and grapefruit cocktail still feels appropriate!
Yay for summer garden! Enjoy the last days of summer, Isabella.
I’m wearing Maison Violet Pourpe d’Automne for the CP!
I appreciate the brand’s acknowledgement that this is a fresh reinterpretation of the original (and probably un-reproducible) 1924 fragrance, rather than an exact faithful copy, hahah. Not only do I value their honesty, I do like this contemporary version a lot!
Another bottle I need to pull out! You smell lovely.
I just found my sample of this and have set it aside to wear!
How do you like it? I own a couple other small bottles, and a sample of that one is winging its way to me now. 👏🏻
I’m wearing the perfume I have been wearing all summer, Magnolia Mist by Providence Perfume Co. Sadly, it’s a limited edition, so I need to stock up.
I have two versions, big spray bottle I got myself and a little roll on my cousin got for me as a gift. I have never been a fan of roll ons but this one has come in really handy: we had a rough summer with lots of travel due to sad events in our family and having a small, travel friendly bottle has been a great thing. I also realized that this scent projects and almost smells differently in the roll on version, radiating the floral notes in particular quietly but persistently. The dry down is a beautiful sandalwood base. I guess I’m saying good bye to this perfume, for now, as it is a very summery scent, but I hope to bring it back next year, whatever is left of it.
She sent an email around about price rises recently, but can’t remember when the price change was coming. Possibly a reason to buy sooner rather than later…
Sorry you’ve had a rough summer.
Sampling Tobacco Honey as I stopped by BG’s to pick up some skincare. Love it! Anyone else?
I have a FB sample … I will wear it next week and report back!
Let me know! I really love it
I tried it last night and when I first sprayed it on I thought it was terrible, but this morning I could still smell it and it wasn’t too bad. For honey notes I will stick with Zoologist Bee.
Interesting, it lasted for so long
I should say it smelled terrible on me. First spray did not go well on my skin. It seemed to change overnight and then was pretty good, but I am not sure how long the “skunky” smell lasted.
I love it, but the synthetic oud note gives me a headache.
Wearing a dab Jubilation 25 extrait today. It’s a phenomenal fall scent and saving my pennies for a full bottle.
I’m only familiar with the EDP, is there a big difference between the two?
The extrait is deeper and more dense than the edp.
I’ve got a bottle of the EDP that I’m very happy with , you make the extrait sound very tempting though. The only Amouage extrait I ever tried, was Gold Women. For that fragrance I actually preferred the EDP. Jub 25 is very different though, I can kind of see that the extrait would work great .
I tried the Jub 25 EdP and thought it was amazing. The extrait must be mind-blowing!
Surrendered by evening sunshine, very welcome after some spectacular thunderstorm earlier this week. Nature is grateful though, everything is refreshed and dragonflies happy. Got amazing heritage tomatoes from the market and made a coulis in olive oil.
For the CP it’s very easy as I have so few options here, so it’s Shalimar Tonka which smells even better than last year. I feel very virtuous for not getting Millésime Iris, I could get it 25% off and points off €92, but I passed as I am happy with the two I have already.
A perfectly ripe tomato is one of Nature’s miracles. So delicious! 🍅
I am joining Kris in getting two immunizations today so I’m just wearing a small spritz of Stash. Incense seems to work for me any time of year.
We got the RSV vaccine a few weeks ago and decided to wait until October for the influenza vaccine. Which ones are you getting today?
BTW you smell good. I haven’t smelled Stash for a long time.
Hope it all goes smoothly. Treat yourself to something nice afterwards!
Good luck with your shots today!
Good luck foxbins! I am spacing mine out because they always make me so sick.
I’m wearing Harvest Mouse from a sample and liking it more with each wear, I think a travel bottle is in my future.
The leaves are changing, everything looks like fall, but we’re having a warm spell so it doesn’t feel like it right now. It’s really pretty, though.
I like and have a few of the Zoologist travel sprays. They are a nice size and very cute. Have not tried Harvest Mouse but have heard others say they have liked it. What does it smell like?
To me, it’s sweet from benzoin and myrhh but the chamomile is so pretty, kind of a counterpoint so that it’s not heavy. There’s a delightful malt note, and I get dusty hay. My only hesitation is that I have quite a few opoponax & benzoin type scents and I really don’t need another one. But HM is pretty unique.
Wearing Jean Louis Scherrer, which I 💚💚💚 after all these years. It’s my favorite transition scent, with the green of summer drying down to woody and mossy notes.
You smell so good!💚
Thanks, allo! IIRC, you wear this, too, right?
Yes, and you might have been the enabler😎
Cool! At least, it’s inexpensive. 😁
🙏
One of my faves, too!
Welcome to the JLS fan club!
Having a fig moment lately – today, it’s Philosykos and Deja Le Printemps edp by Oriza L. Legrand (sample). Really loving Deja Le Printemps.
I’m feeling a new lease on life today – my daughter’s cat went missing on the evening of the 20th. Her conclusion was that the cat went over the balcony in order to avoid a visiting dog, but no one actually saw it happen. It was a horrible 48 hours of searching, wondering, worry, online posting, but it paid off late last night! They found her under a car in the building’s parking garage, coaxed her out, and took her home. Best possible outcome for both my daughter and cat, and fantastic news to start the day!
I’m so glad for everyone concerned-lost pets are the worst. You just never know what happened to them. Glad they’re safe and sound 🙂
So glad for your daughter and the cat. What a relief nothing bad happened to her!
🐈 the poor frightened kitty
What a relief. So glad to hear the cat was found.
I love stories of found kitties and am so happy for you all!😊
Very happy to hear your grandkitty is back at home
What a relief! Poor kitty. I hope she gets extra snuggles and treats.
I’m glad you found her! That kitty will be loved more than ever now, won’t she? Sending hugs to all concerned.
I am so glad your daughter found her cat, it’s awful when they disappear.
So happy the kitty was found!
Happy to hear that your daughter’s kitty got back home safe! 😸
How scary for all of you and how horrible to envision something like that happening. I’m so glad your story has a happy ending. Yes, a new lease on life – for everyone!
That’s such a relief! So glad that kitty has been found.
Thanks to everyone for their kind words!
It’s a gloomy, wet day but I can hear the blackbirds waking up, and calling. The dawn chorus is always wonderful at this time of year . It’s going to rain all day and I’m reading Roku Onda’s Honey Bees and Distant Thunder, a recent Japanese novel about a piano competition, music but also the sounds of nature. Because it’s wet I’m wearing Autumn Vibes though our summer daylight saving starts tomorrow, so clocks need changing.
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/culture/2023/05/14/books/honeybees-and-distant-thunder/
Autumn Vibes is supposed to smell like Mount Royal park here in Montréal. :-). Your book sounds appealing.
Thanks for the link, love that it includes a playlist.
Taking a quick break from Big Meeting Day to check in.
In No 19 edt as every other day this week.
Because the heart wants what the heart wants.
Have a good weekend, all.
Perfect for big meeting day. Have a good weekend!
Definitely – like its own kind of Eau de Protection!
Ha. Very true.
Though when I require full armor I go in for Silences.
Yes, it helps to counter any inclination to obviously misbehave ;- )
Excellent Perfume Armor picks!
Perfume Armor is definitely a key category.
No 19 – such a good one for every day and especially Big Meeting Day.
It has become an essential. :- ) I drained my swap decant, which doesn’t happen all that often. Fortunately, I have a partial bottle heading my way.
I’m in Arquiste Peau because it reminds me of evaporated saltwater on skin while heading home from a day at the beach. I am not much of a beach person these days (I burn after approximately 8 seconds of direct sunlight), but as a kid I was at the beach multiple times a week in the summer for swim lessons, or just hanging out. My mom was a teacher and she loved going during her summer break, so it was our default summer activity (I grew up on Long Island where the beach is never more than 15 minutes away). The last day at the beach very much felt like the end of summer each year.
Today’s tea is Clipper Ship’s Log Cabin, which I thunked this afternoon. Smokey and spicy for fall.
I burn super easily too, so I hear ya. I do love sitting by the water though…there is just something so relaxing about it.
I have to avoid exposure to our Daystar, too. Sunburns are bad enough, but I am also seeing signs of photoaging that I am not a fan of.
I now use SPF 100 and it is basically paint 🤣
Wow! Haven’t gotten up to that number yet. Probably should consider something higher than 40 for my arms, though.
What brand of sunscreen/sunblock do you use?
La Roche Posay’s Anthelios for my face, neck, and arms. And neutrogena for my legs if needed. The Anthelios is pricey, but it is truly unscented and non-greasy feeling, so I actually use it rather than making excuses to avoid it.
I’m looking for something moisturizing for my arms. Unscented is a bonus.
I seem to have dialed in what works for my face and neck. Body is proving to be a challenge.
Mancera Tonka Cola, thunking my decant.I defo need a full bottle of this in future!
Busy day at home,I had the installers here for my inverter/battery backup in case of a serious future blackout. Our powergrids are so unstable,it’s a must have now. It’s working perfectly and I’m thrilled.
Tomorrow afternoon I’m off to the Candace Bushnell show, should be fun!
XO’s
Have fun!
Thank you!
She did a radio interview yesterday which I streamed and that was hilariously funny!
🤗🌹
Enjoy!
I’m glad you have a backup for power!
Good to hear that you now have a backup for power outages. I’ve seen a lot of commercials on TV lately for backup generators here in the States.
Our beautiful spring weather of a couple of weeks ago is just a distant memory. It’s been very windy for days, and now it’s raining as well.
I’ll be sniffing new samples all weekend and I’ll report back. Thanks to a comment by Portia on another blog, I found a perfumery in Sweden that posts to New Zealand. It’s not cheap, but might be another option for those in far flung places – Fragrance and Art.
I hope your beautiful spring weather returns soon.🌞🌸🌼
Hope actual Spring returns asap for you!
We’ve been having gorgeous sunny days and I’m already in my usual summer uniform(swimshorts/tshirt and flipflops 99% of the time)
🤗🌹🌞🌞
Hurray for finding another shop that posts to NZ!
I’m in Bois des Iles, the far drydown at this point. I keep getting small whiffs, and it smells so good.
I often play the Les Exclusifs game in my head. What is this game you ask? Well, if I could have just *one* from the line what would it be? I have none, lol, so I might be playing this game for years. I’ve sampled and gone through decants of all but a handful, and I think it’s come down to this one or 1932, which I think is just beautiful. What is your *one*?
Ooeeee….my “one” will always be No.18 edt!Such a uniquely strange/fresh bouquet of beauty!
🌹🌹🤗
I’ve tried the edp of that one, and agree it is very beautiful. I found it work friendly too, which is always a plus.
Two years ago, I nearly bought a FB of Bois des Îles and regret that I didn’t, so that would be my choice. My “one” is Le Lion which I understand to be polarizing but my god do I love it!
And I wore Bois des Îles yesterday ( from my mini bottle) so I guess that’s my “two”
I should love Le Lion, it has all the notes I like but it just doesn’t work on my skin. It’s one of those I’d probably love to get whiffs of coming off another person.
I’ve got a bottle of Le Lion on the way! I think it might be the most “me” of the line, but I’d need to revisit the various samples I’ve received from my NST friends. No. 22 is very shy with me, but it and Bois des Îles do speak to me. I need to revisit Coromandel, too.
I suppose mine would be 31 Rue Cambon, again in the old EdT version, with Bel Respiro, 28 La Pausa and No. 22 close seconds.
Bel Respiro and 22 are two that I haven’t tried yet. I do also really like 31RC.
28 La Pausa EdT, forever!
Ha! I knew you were going to say that!😁 I’m guessing lillyjo will say no. 22.
Lol! She did! 😂
22 hands down.
I knew it!! I posted just before I saw your response.🤣
I’m nothing if not predictable!
That one always makes me think of you.☺️
I completely agree. No. 22 all the way!
No. 22 in the EDT. I will always regret not scraping together the money for a bottle. It’s like the guy I left in my twenties, not realizing how thin on the ground really great guys would be.
No. 19 EdT would be my first choice, even though I have enjoyed wearing 31 RC EdT this week.
I have a couple wears left in my 31RC. It is a good one.
Have you tried the EdP version?
Fun game! Only one would be Bois des Iles for me. But if I could pick two, that’s when things would get tricky…. Boy, Coromandel, La Pausa, I wouldn’t be able to decide.
I’ve tried about 3/4 of the line and have liked most of them, it’s a great line.
28 La Pausa EDT, which reminds me, I need to now crack open my humongo BUB!
The big bottle! Nice.
My favorite is without a doubt 31 RC EDT, but I do like your choice today and have owned Beige and Coromandel.
Oops, I meant Misia and not Beige.
Ah, now Misia is one I haven’t tried. I did go through a decant of Beige one summer, it’s very pretty.
I’m in Misha, Mikhail Baryshnikov’s eponymous fragrance. It has some similarities to Mitsouko, but with a spicy peach compote.
Oh fun, almost never hear about that one here.
Transitional scent today with Shalimar Parfum Initial. Tomorrow I might go with Killian Angels’ share.
You will be smelling great 2 days in a row!
Smellin’ fine in Shalimar MI: Mission Impossible 🕵️ with light rain in San Diego today. Happy Friday! 🥳
I really love your name for it.😆
And now I have an earworm!
I think I will wear that this weekend sometime again to see what notes I get the second time around.
I’m very begrudgingly saying goodbye to summer on this day, our last warm day for the foreseeable future in Seattle. Next week we’re already expected to have some highs under 60 and a whole week of rainy days. 😭
So today I’m wearing a couple of fruity perfumes I didn’t wear at all this summer, Premier Figuer and Zephyr by Neil Morris. Zephyr is a travel spray I’ve had since MakeupAlley days and has lots of tangerine and papaya. Both were the right choice for the day, a different perfume on each arm.
And adding my early thoughts on Shalimar Millesime Iris: I have basically the same impression as She-ra and hajusuuri. I only sprayed one spray on my inner wrist yesterday but it’s a lovely iris in the vein of Iris Ganache or VC&A Bois d’Iris with some gourmand sweetness, vanilla, and the hints of a Shalimar base. I plan to give it a full wearing on its own one day this weekend.
Looking forward to swap meet tomorrow and the next week even though I need to play around with my swap list and wish list tonight!
Wow! Thanks for the reminder about the swapmeet!
I’m glad you like Shalimar Iris.
Yes, I am going to give a full wearing this weekend as well.
LOVE the picture that you chose for today, Robin!
Not sure what happened to me earlier this afternoon, but I had a wild sneezing fit, with 5 or 6 big ones in a row. I had to run for a Kleenex after that! It’s not seasonal allergies, since mine are year round. 😛
Waiting for TS Ophelia to sweep in with wind and rain late, late tonight.
SOTD = 31 Rue Cambon EdT and Dame Gardenia body butter. Still have a bit left of the 31 RC. One is more on the Autumn side, and the other is definitely summer. So I am straddling both sides of the seasonal transition. 😉
Was the TS already name? I have not checked the news yet, but the weekend and Monday are going to be horrible here. I am on my way to get some groceries and I will stay inside at home the whole weekend. Stay dry!
Ophelia got named sometime today. Not sure exactly when. It wasn’t named last night when I watched the late news.
I haven’t been keeping up with the weather this week. Stay safe!
Hunkered down with fixings for a batch of chili. And I have ZERO plans to go outside tomorrow.
Oh… you were totally right about Sailor Moon!
I found that hilarious! It still makes me giggle at random intervals.
Hope Ophelia turns out to be a nothing burger!
Looks like my area will get a lot of rain. There are flood watches and warnings all over the place. I’m on high ground, thankfully.
You smell wonderful in 31RC. I went out for a walk this afternoon thinking I need to get my buttuckus in gear as I did not want to get caught in the rain! So far so good!
We were afternoon walk twins today. I went to grab chili fixings, since this weekend is supposed to be a washout. And I do NOT like walking in the rain.
You are in one of my favorites today.
Stay safe.
Thanks, will do!
Isn’t that a cool image?
I have sneezing fits several times a week, I’ll sneeze 10-15 times in a row, sometimes more. My half sister had them too so I assume there is some genetic component, although it isn’t allergies or photic sneezing (sneezing from light exposure).
Yes! It looks very fractal.
My sneezing fit today wasn’t photic, either. But I have done that in the past, too.
Mild rainy weather this week but pleasantly warm, it feels part summer/part fall so it’s been a perfect transition week before autumn begins in just a few hours. My favorite fall scents include orange and spice and a bit of woods, and today’s choice for the cp, Fendi Theorema Leggero, features all those favorite notes without being too ‘fall-ish.’ It resembles the original Theorema, perhaps a bit lighter but with a bit more pepper, and I think I like this one better than the original.
Last night our library featured a Chicago-area Ukrainian music, song and dance ensemble who told the history of their country through their performance, which included Klezmer and Romani music and that of other cultures as well who’ve been part of that country. They were wonderful and great to hear the domra and accordion add authenticity to their performance and to be able to share with them my admiration of the bravery of their people and my prayers for peace. ☮️
Tomorrow we’re volunteering at our local historical society’s annual cemetery walk and then heading out to see my favorite author, William Kent Krueger, who’s on his book tour for his newest book, ‘The River We Remember.’ Awesome author, awesome individual! I can’t wait!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead – hard to believe it’s the first fall one for those of us in this hemisphere! 🍂🍁🍃
The Fendi Theorema Leggero is beautiful. Lovely choice!
I think I’ve read a couple of his. He’s quite prolific iirc. Enjoy!
Definitely celebrating Hobbit Day here! Over the years I’ve often, as I am right now, re-read The Hobbit and LoTR in September. This afternoon, I am at the fall of Isengard with our heroes. SotD Shalimar MI again. I find it most intriguing and not like anything else I have.
It doesn’t smell like anything I have either.
Do you remember the Rankin-Bass animated version of “The Hobbit”?
I should re-read The Hobbit and LOTR, I’ve always loved those books.
I wore Issara today and when the pharmacist leaned in to help me with the credit card reader she said, you smell nice, like baby powder! It made me smile.
Yay for a Perfume compliment!
Perfume compliments are rare and wonderful things.
It sounds terrible but I am almost positive I have a travel spray of this somewhere. You smell wonderful!
No CP points for me today. I went with Aftelier Secret Garden, which is not very fall-like, but is one of my favorites. We were on a brief (overnight) trip out of town, and Secret Garden was in my travel bag. I am down to my last few mls in my original bottle, so I put it in my travel bag to ensure that I will always have some perfume with me. I do have another FB which I have not opened yet.
Nice to have a backup & hope it was a fun trip!
We went to see a play and spent the night in a hotel. We have a season subscription (four plays per year) to a theater that is a couple hours’ drive away. It is possible to just drive up for the play and come back, but it is nice to spend the night and make a little getaway out of it. It was a very funny play, and we had a good time.
What a nice outing! What play did you see?
It was the most beautiful day here for the last day of summer. I could hear Mother Nature just laughing at me. I put up my pumpkin door wreath and the leaf tablecloth is on the table. I will try and enjoy Fall for the whole month it sticks around here. Lol ( but not really) ah… I crack me up 🤣
I am wearing TM Cuir Impertinent today. It’s perfect for cool weather and short days.
Psst, 25% off at the Fenty site…have never smelled the fragrance, but think you expressed interest? Picked up the regular body cream, which is a fave, but never buy it unless there’s a sale.
Thanks!
I tried the regular body cream. It’s very moisturizing!
You smell wonderful. I was eyeing which of them I should wear at some point – too many choices. I do have a fall wreath which I made myself a few years back; I have to unearth and start using it soon!
Too many choices for sure.
Yes, it’s time to pull out the cuir perfumes!
You asked me about Eau Capitale yesterday. It is a bit peppery to my nose, a chypre rose with patchouli. It doesn’t smell to me like POAL but I tend to think of it as an easier to wear, everyday POAL.
Thank you! I keep looking for a dark rose and that’s on my list to try. I have found many to be too peppery for me.
Glad to hear that you had another nice day. I know you are not a fan of Winter in the slightest!
SOTD = Hermes L’Ambre des Merveilles
Excellent! I think several people wore it this week, too. Also, it could be my imagination but I think the font for the perfume name goes from small to medium!

Thanks for the well wishes yesterday. There are a good number of things from which to unwind, some with deadlines. I just need to be well organized and I should be okay. I will probably end up working again although who knows when that will be.
Best wishes on your retirement! Are you thinking of a possible “fun”
job, or sticking with serious office work?
Congratulations and best wishes! I’m a few weeks into my official retirement (retired as of 9/1) and I’m loving it! I’m feeling so much less stress, and I have time to focus on my family’s needs without feeling torn in different directions. I would have had to work remotely this week anyway, because my husband caught COVID last weekend (I’m blaming the plant trip from the UK). I’m glad you’re joining the ranks!
I think you’re right about the font.
Sounds like you are in a very good situation right now re: work and finances.
SOTD is Un Jardin à Cythère, which is summery enough to bid farewell to summer, and nutty enough to welcome the early fall.
I wore Dior Addict today. It was warm outside, but there was a bit of bite in the air. The sun is very low and today is probably the last good day. Rain is coming, but we need every drop!
We were almost twins today. It seemed a little too warm here for it though.
Definitely a nip in the air today here as well. And windy to boot!
We’re on the road for a couple of days, so the arsenal is abbreviated. Today I wore Tam Dao EDT as a fond farewell to summer / hello to fall. Meanwhile, my elder stepson has just gotten engaged! The younger stepson got married in August and it was totally expected, but the older one? I’m surprised as hell, but incredibly happy about it too. Love, amirite? 💕💕
Congratulations! Wonderful news!
Wearing Sylvaine Delacourte Ozkan, orange blossom and leather with a little fizzy sweetness up top that today is reminding me of root beer. Perfect for the weather, which is unseasonably cool by Southern California standards. Fall is in the air. I got this bottle in the Swapmeet, in a very felicitous swap where both of us were entirely pleased with the results. Thank you again, Robin, for maintaining this community. I treasure it, even though I don’t post very often anymore.
And I have meant to post about Blanc de Corrèges several times this year, but just looked at the list of community projects for 2023, and will save it for next month. Fingers crossed I remember both to wear it and to post.
Now to read everyone else’s picks before I fall asleep. Hope everyone is doing well. Just learned this afternoon I do not have Covid, which is always good news.
