Saturday is the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer and B.B. King’s birthday. Sunday is International Country Music Day aka Hank Williams’ birthday.
We're marking everything with our standard open thread poll. Talk about anything you like — the fragrance you’re wearing today, the last new fragrance you bought or tested, whatever.
Or, ask a question about fragrance, then see if anyone else has asked a question that you can answer…

Happy weekend!
Boy, did I went looking for potential trouble (for my wallet)!
Ex Nihilo store had their soft opening in the mall this week and I had to go have a look and have many sniffs.
I didn’t have enough arm space for their many offerings but the standouts from what I tried were:
Atlas Fever – Warm, comforting, non-sweet vanilla with a soft woody base. Perfect for the coming cooler weather.
Fleur Narcotique Extrait – Pink and white flower bouquet with floral nectar. Lush and very pretty. (I also tried the non-extrait version to compare. It was similar but was a little more fresh and there was a little greenness, like the fresh cut stems of the flowers. But I prefer the extrait)
My nose just had to pick the ones with the higher price tag. 😰
Then I went to Uncle Serge’s and tried the new Écrin de Fumée. Delicious, smokey rum + cacao/chocolate (not sweet). I really like this too…
I’m going to be in Paris in a few weeks and am looking forward to visiting the Lutens boutique. I mean to try all the room sprays, and I will definitely try Écrin de Fumée. It does sound delicious!
Well, ditto on this!
I visited a couple of Serge Lutens boutiques when I was in Paris this summer. The Palais Royal boutique is beautiful but I had a much better customer service experience at the Saint-Honoré boutique. The SA was extraordinarily helpful and took a lot of time with me, respecting my knowledge of fragrance and SL in particular. The PR boutique SAs seemed disinterested and focussed mainly on making a sale. I did purchase a few bottles but at the Saint-Honoré store.
Have fun!
Have a great time in Paris! The Palais Royal is gorgeous. Enjoy trying all the fragrances 😀
Ohh, those all sound great!
Hurricane Lee is heading towards us on the east coast of Canada: looks like my city will escape the worst of it — although it is pretty windy out there and we’re expecting 50+mm of rain — but other places are going to get hit hard. Grey weather often makes me think of licorice, so I’m in Lolita Lempicka today, a charming, airy licorice that always puts a smile on my face.
Anybody who doesn’t drive will be able to relate to this: I carry a knapsack with me wherever I go, and in a front compartment is my stepfather’s small leather toiletry bag, and in that are things I might need from day to day like tissues and ibuprofen and bus fare just in case. (A co-worker once asked me why I carry so much stuff around with me all the time and I said, “Because I don’t have a glove compartment.”) I was cleaning it out today because it seemed weirdly heavy, and in it were four lip balms and FOURTEEN fragrances — three solids, three minis, and eight sample vials. Because you never know! I put all the vials back and retired the rest of them to my cabinets, but no doubt things will start migrating back there, given enough time.
Sounds like the bottom of my purse. I know it’s time to clean out the purse when it starts to feel heavy.
Hope you stay safe and dry!
sounds like me!
Seriously, one can go on Amazon and you can get a Red Cross ready to go emergency backpack. I keep one in my car and one in my home since we are so prone to earthquakes and fires.
Same. My lip balms, hand cream, and “good” hair things all somehow migrate to my purse
Thank you for mentioning your Stepfather’s toiletry bag! I have my father’s leather bag, which as a navy man, he always called a “ditty bag.” I thought many times to pass it on, thinking someone would use it. But now, I will do what you’ve done, and keep it at the ready.
I am constantly removing things from my purse trying to make it less heavy.
Ditto!
All my stuff and then my kids stuff..all stuffed in my purse
Hope the storm does indeed miss you.
I can totally relate. The highest record with duplicate items in my bag was something like 3 lip balms, 5 lip glosses, 7 perfume samples, 4 pens, 3 hand sanitizers.
The solution to avoid this problem I find is to switch bags every so often. This forces me to move things around and see what I really have.
I cleaned out my purse a few days ago then went out shopping yesterday with no lip balms. Had to buy a new one!
Good Saturday morning to you all! I’m back from a trip to Yosemite this week. Always grand. We went in the spring to see the waterfalls, and again this week to visit our favorite part of the park (Tioga Pass area) which was closed due to winter snow on our last visit. We did some favorite hikes and some new ones. I’ve never seen the lakes and reservoirs so full at this time of year — or actually at any time during the past several drought years. They say we’ll be having another wet winter this year, should be interesting.
Still in the dregs of Banana Republic 78 Vintage Green which I wore to a wine and nibblies party last night. Also still socked in with fog, it’s a lovely cool morning so far, does feel like fall.
yes, always so beautiful. Chilly and foggy here also but perfect weather in Tanzania.
Two days to go, off to get haircut. my duffle and backpack are ready.
Deep dark Vanilla and I love it. have been putting a dent in the bottle.
Omg, two days!?!🤩
Are you on Instagram apsara? Would love to see pictures.
alas, I am not. NST and Linked In are it for me.
Two days, 15 pounds lost and so excited to see my sister.
I hope the two of you have the best time!😊
Ciao everyone-
Fall is here-had a great morning at the farmers market..
Now that I know the Shalimar flanker is not for me, has anyone smelled Heaven Can Wait-the newest FM fragrance?
Yesterday I ventured over to the library of performing arts where us volunteers got a beautiful tour of the an exhibition by the curator. Here is the link https://www.nypl.org/events/exhibitions/bordercrossings
Just in case anyone is into Modern Dance.
Still working my way through The Garden of Evening Mists..reading has taken the back seat this past week as the things were busy with Library and kids school.
Heaven Can Wait was a total YES for me,I wrote about it a couple of posts back.Fantastic iris note with the sheer JCE touch.A 50ml is on the cards for me as soon as the next payday hits!🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️😉🤣🤣
Good to know. I was wondering too. Is it anything like Iris Poudre. I am guessing not.
No,it’s a totally different fragrance to Iris Poudre. For the actual iris note I prefer Heaven can wait between the two.
That’s what I thought. Thanks. I am not sure I would like Heaven Can Wait and the reviews on Fragrantica are mixed. There are a lot that did not like it, which of course means nothing since we all have different tastes.
Thanks for all the feedback
I didn’t get any iris from Heaven Can Wait, just clove and a sweet background smell, maybe vanilla?
How is the sillage?
I only tested with two sprays on skin and a blotter to take home,so I cannot give you an accurate answer to this!My guess would be-if I do my usual 6/7 sprays-pretty good, but not on the level of POAL(!!)
Feels like fall here too, I’m thinking I’ll make my first chili of the season for dinner!🍂😋
Forgot SOTD is Angels 👼 Share
I tried it on paper earlier this week and will go back to try it on skin. I agree with JB, it does have that JCE touch, at least on paper, but is a nice iris. With the PdN launch I’d like to try both, but it looks the Iris Medicis Intense is an exclusive to the Parisian shops and their online shop. At €68 for the 30 ml, I may just buy that unsniffed.
I read that it is very green. Here’s a review I saw on FB:
I haven’t smelled the Iris Millésime yet but had a try of Nicolai’s Iris. I like the soft floral green natural opening but very quickly the galbanum takes over and a sweet-fruity facet (raspberry) appears which lingers through the day. It’s a bit weird. Harsh through galbanum on one side and very sweet through the raspberry on the other side. I’m not a fan. So many brands are working the top notes and then the rest falls apart or is disappointing. Iris Médicis feels a bit commercial to be honest and unfinished. I expected more.
Hmm…that’s interesting to read. Maybe I will wait to sniff until I’m in Paris next year at this time. Green isn’t a problem but harsh / sweet are.
Well, if it is overly green, then I can take that one off my list. That’s good. I have been buying too much again.
If it’s green like No.19 I’ll probably like it!!
I smelled Heaven Can Wait and it’s mostly medicinal cloves on me, really reminds me of Guerlain Lui, so it’s a no.
That’s kind of what I thought and that would be no for me too.
Heaven Can Wait was nice but just aite to me. It’s iris + clove mostly, sits close to skin and has that powdery drydown that immediately reminded me of his Cuir d’Ange for Hermes, so it doesn’t really do anything new for me. The iris + clove combo is very enjoyable though.
Yeah, kind of what I got from the paper was that it was nice, it had his light touch, and it reminded me of other perfumes. I should try it on skin.
I had the lovely pronounced iris/carrot seed note on skin, but not so much clove(which I won’t mind should it happen because I adore a strong clove scent!)
I also went looking for Heaven Can Wait yesterday too but it wasn’t in store yet. Reading about it here on NST is like a virtual sniff! Haha.
I’m in Musc Ravageur from a manufacturer’s sample that I plan to thunk this weekend. I have sprayed pretty heavily, but I find that this one wears fairly soft on me. Unless I’m anosmic, in which case I’ll be blasting my family members with it lol.
I didn’t comment yesterday but played along in 10 CC, one of my favorites.
Thank you to pfsh for the mini Shalimar Iris review. I was just about ready to give in to my fomo when I read her review. Now I’ll pass. Not so much a fan of caramel, or gourmands in general I guess since I don’t seem to have many. MVP continues to be my OG, and scratches my shalimar itch.

I saw a review of this book, The Flow, that has won a major nature writing prize. It’s nonfiction, centred on a woman’s experience of losing a friend in a kayaking accident and how she reconnects with the river and natural world. I thought your daughter might like it.

The review
Sounds really good. I may read it as well.
Oh thank you, Kanuka! I will put that on my Christmas list for her. Her birthday was Thursday and I gave her Canoeing with the Cree, which was the book that inspired the trip and then book, Hudson Bay Bound- which I gave her last year, and she loved!!
I still prefer MVP over MI! Definitely my favorite Shalimar flanker. Did I tell you that I ended up hunting down a bottle after I drained the sample you sent me? Couldn’t stop craving it 🙂 Enabler pin for you!
It IS a good one! (I have a BUB)
I love your SOTD
Thanks!
I was kind of curious what the MVP was like. I never did smell it. I don’t mean to play stupid here, but what is OG?
MVP is mostly a vanilla with very little Shalimar, in my opinion.
Well, my daughter uses the expression for the OriGinal, best, or favorite in a category. So…technically it would be Shalimar edt? I think? Since that was the first formulation, but the edt and edp don’t really work for me, so MVP is my favorite.
I have an unopened BUB that I plan to crack open during next months splitmeet.
Vanilla normally doesn’t work for me, but sure would like to find one that does. If you are doing small amounts then maybe I will have to try it.
Wearing a little bit of Avignon today. After not being able to work most of the week because of my crud and asthma acting up, I am at work but will be on vacation next week. I am about to order a decant of Guerlain Tobacco Honey to test out when I am fully better.
Glad you’re at least a little better Dawn!
Happy Saturday!
SOTD!
Aqualis Egoli.Smoky woody geranium,it’s a well-done fragrance even if not entirely novel.Named after Johannesburg which is often referred to as Egoli(“place of gold”) locally because of the gold rush that attracted an influx of people and established the city of Johannesburg way back when. The founder of Aqualis is South African and uses a lot of local references in his perfumes.
XO’s
I hope you are having a nice weekend J B!
Chilled and brimful of procrastination….LOL!

About Barbie … If you haven’t watched it yet and intend to, please skip this. It’s a rant. Is it well made? Sure, if you have the Oh gosh golly wow! mindset. There is nothing wrong with that (having that mindset). Just like those of us commenting in this forum, we all come in all shapes and sizes and I’ll put myself squarely in What did I get myself into? category. I was quite excited to see it on the big screen, even to the point of wearing pink. Also, after all, I haven’t been in theaters since the pandemic. At the proverbial end of the day, it was a predictable Girl Power kind of movie and a giant commercial.
LOL, h.! We are evil movie twins. I saw it through a different lens – but I agree the Girl/Woman Power stuff was weak sauce (and some people were cheering when I went). But I took the commercial stuff as camp, and loved the many winks, and final breaking out, from the fourth wall. The Mid-Century Modern suburban vibe also *really* floats my boat.
Yep, it was waaaaay overhyped. I took my girls because they wanted to see it and I went in figuring it wouldn’t live up to the hoopla. They’re 18 & 23 and agreed that it was not great, we all thought the set and props was the best thing about it.
Ockeghem Teen and I liked it, but frankly I think we all preferred the Ken story line more than the Barbie / girl power stuff. I enjoyed the flashbacks to Barbie outfits I loved in the early ’80s; she didn’t really care so much for any of that b/c she was never big into dolls or Barbies. We mostly took it as camp. For a movie that was meant as a giant commercial, I think this was probably the best they could have done. But, not looking forward to the coming onslaught of Polly Pockets and Hot Wheels movies.
I do have to say, Mojo Dojo Casa House has become the new term for “man cave” in my house.
Lol to this last sentence. That’s awesome.😂
I was rather surprised you were so excited to go see it. I expected it to be the way you described it. Definitely not a movie for me. 🙂
I hear you on the cliched girl power theme although I have to confess I actually teared up when the mom character gave her passionate monologue near the end
Thanks for that movie review. I didn’t rush out to see it because my dearest childhood friend said it was “dumb” lol
I enjoyed the visuals and of course went to see Ryan Gosling….but I was bored and it was way too long.Oppenheimer was an atmospheric visual feast on the other hand and although quite long,I was engaged in the story the whole time.
The movie I REALLY want to see this year is Saltburn, and I cannot wait!
I don’t plan on seeing it, even though I love actual Barbie.
I loved Midge.
I just grabbed the first thing my hand hit this morning so I am wearing Atelier Sud Magnolia. Yesterday, I visited the newly-opened Guerlain Boutique in Waikiki, hoping to smell Shalimar Iris, but the SA had never heard of it and I was pretty sure they wouldn’t have it anyway. It took six months for Dior to get a Tobacolor tester when it was released. I have found that the SAs here are largely uninformed about perfume and new releases. The department manager at Bloomingdale’s is an exception, she knows her stuff.
I might go sniffing next week because Ala Moana Mall on weekends is a zoo.
The SAs at my Macy’s don’t know anything about what they are selling. What’s worse is they don’t care. I try to sneak in and sniff when nobody is around.
Same here. Sad that I know more than they do.
Sotd Samsara edt, vintage-ish from the red shoulder bottle. I pulled it out because I was following a rabbit trail on the internet and found and read a number of reviews. I was surprised how many people dislike it! Many sprays later, I find that it still sweeps me off my feet.
I think it’s great too, but I can see how some might not. Those late 80s perfumes are not for the faint of heart.😉
Re Samsara, my ex sister in law married to a mortician that buried the mob back in the day in the depths of New Jersey (think all the big accent, big hair, etc. etc.) told she like Samsara because it smelled so clean. Say that out loud in the accent Marisa Tomei used in My Cousin Vinny, “I like that Samsara perfume because it is so light and clean!” LOL.
😂
Lol. What a great story! I’m always going to think of this now.😂
Too funny! And I agree with her 😀
You smell amazing
Still carrying on with the CP this morning with SMN Acqua di Colonia, from a wonderful trip to Florence pre-kid. I’m still addicted to their rose water toner, too.
Oktoberfest starts today! Celebrating with bratwurst (the kid has an art class close to the public market and best sausage store in the city, so I picked some up during her class) and Spätzle, which I don’t make that often.
And…I know I’ve said this 30 times before, but it’s possible that my washroom renos could be almost completely finished today. But, not holding my breath. We’ve been waiting a month for the vanity lights to show up, and apparently they’ve been sitting in a suburb for over a week but were supposed to arrive in town this morning. I’m not optimistic…waiting to hear from the contractor who was waiting on the lights at the store.
My husband is flying to Munich Tuesday for Oktoberfest with his son. 🙂 I’m enjoying a week alone at home with the dog.
I hope they have a great time at Oktoberfest — and that you have some nice quiet time with the dog!
It will be girls week. 🙂
Enjoy the peace and quiet with Mila!!!!
We will! 🙂
Speaking of movies and Oktoberfest, the movie Oktoberfest is probably in my top 5 comedies of all time.So stupid but insanely hilarious. And Cloris Leachman!!🤣🤣✌🏻
Whoops.
*Beerfest is the name of the movie
Yes!
Have you ever seen the movie Strange Brew? Hilarious!
I love Cloris Leachman! I’ve never seen that one — should look it up!
Stupid and slightly vulgar, but boy did I laugh!!
Enjoy your time home alone (and with Mila)!
It’s Sunday morning and I’m in a melange of perfumes. I spray most things on my clothes now as nearly everything makes my skin itch, and some perfumes last forever on clothes. On Friday evening, we finally watched Dune, so I wore my sample of Arrakis from Tiziana Terenzi, it’s still going strong on my left sleeve.
Last night, I sprayed Armani Privé Ambre Eccentrico on my right sleeve to compare them, and they are not similar at all. Arrakis is now on my list of possible purchases and my clothes are going in the wash so that I can start afresh with more perfume 🙂
I have been wearing your Dusita every day and like it more and more. It have a lovely after glow, on my clothes.
Happy Saturday! It’s very much fall here. Today is cloudy and cool enough that I’m wearing a sweatshirt and socks but the windows are open for the fresh air.
I sprayed on Diptique Tempo but can’t seem to smell it, so I will switch to Chergui in a little bit. Time for some chili, I made the first pot of the season last night so we would have it for college football today.
Wow, we are twins in weather and chili! Felt right with this overcast day.☁️
I copied you and made chili tonight.
We have a very large spider that lives above our kitchen window and despite watching it for months I have never seen it move. But it does move, because it changes position…sometimes near the ceiling, sometimes by the window frame. I am so fascinated by it that I sit on the couch and watch it through binoculars ( easier than standing on stool ) , and it always looks dead. Because it was winter I fed it bits of dog food and dead insects. Spiders have a very good sense of smell. Wearing Couche du Diable which is described as dark and brooding, and beguiling…a good match for spider watching.
Should add that spiders smell through their legs, by touching food and don’t have noses.
That’s fascinating — I didn’t know that about smelling through their legs. I love their webs, except when they’re built across the entry to my house! It’s spider season here, and one was dead set on leaving all its egg sacs right under my kitchen window. I would ordinarily leave them alone, but I don’t need tons of baby spiders flying into my house, so I moved the first two as a hint. Then she came back and left three more in the same place…
I find out so much information on this blog!
Wore the Frau Tonis No 10 Linde Berlin and it was just perfect for a sunny day — the notes listed are lime blossom, honey and fresh green and that sounds just about right.
I am now super curious that about the new Shalimar given the mixed reviews. Hope to get to smell it soon at a department store here. I did like the new Bosca Vanilla from the AA line. It is kinda weird but sniffable at the same time.
I love that one! One of the few perfumes I have a BUB of (though I only have the small bottles). You smell wonderful!
I sampled FZOTIC Five this morning, after getting the email about Vetiverissimo. It’s not for me, so after a shower I switched to Tauer Maghreb for this beautiful sunny pre-fall day.
My Shalimar Iris is one state away!
Hey SarahN, were you sampling the new Five Squared or the original Five? Just curious because Five isn’t a standout in his line for me, but I’m curious to try the Squared version.
And I’ve been really tempted by the Vetiverissimo travel spray but wish the price point was under $50.
How exciting that your Shalimar Iris will be there soon. Mine isn’t scheduled to arrive until Thursday.
Hey guys. I am off today and not feeling well… again. I have another doctor’s appointment next week.
My Iris Shalimar arrived yesterday and here are my thoughts. I get a less smokey and leathery Shalimar with a mostly powdery iris. I do smell a little carrot iris too though. I find it more dry than sweet. At the drydown I do smell ambroxan but I have to look for it, which I intend to stop doing, lol. All said, I like it. Oh… also for texture, I would call it airy and gauzy.
Take this with a grain of salt though.
So did you like it? I can’t really tell by your post, but if that’s what it smells like then I might be ok. I shall see on Tuesday.
Oh yes I do like it. I should have been more clear. My heads a little foggy.
Glad you like it! I’m looking forward to it; should get mine by Wednesday next week.
I hope you’re feeling better very soon, lillyjo!
Hope you feel better soon and that the doctor can find some answers for you!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!…other reviews I have read calls it airy too. Mine is supposed to come Weds. I think.
Sending you great, big hugs and good luck for your appointment next week. Hoping you’re feeling better today which is Sunday morning as I type. 😉
Hope you get to feeling better. Forgot to add that in my question about your new fragrance.
Fingers crossed you’re feeling better soon and that the doctor visit is helpful💕🌸
In the process of decluttering/organizing, I have rediscovered a lot of stuff I forgot I had, including some scented things. I have found shower gels, soaps, incense, and candles that I completely forgotten. I also unearthed six brand new dispensers of dental floss, about four spare deodorants, and a bunch of other things.
On the whole, the decluttering is going slowly, but I can see progress. I figure it didn’t all accumulate in a few weeks or months, so it is OK if it takes a while to get through it.
The hardest part is going to be deciding what to do with a bunch of stuff from my parents’ house. To make a long story short, my parents passed away several years ago, first my mother then my father. Then suddenly, last year, one of my brothers (who is the executor of my parents’ estate) decided that the house needed to be sold and we had about a month to go through the entire house to pack up anything we wanted to keep. A couple of my siblings had been living in the house and had not very receptive to me going through cabinets or taking or getting rid of anything as I had wanted to do, so I suddenly had just a few weeks to get it all done. There was so much stuff that I couldn’t bear to just throw out or leave behind for the new owner to throw out, but which nobody seems to want these days–fine china, silverware, figurines of various sorts (Dresden, Hummel, etc.) and the like. I just don’t know what to do with it all, and right now it is filling up a good portion of my garage. I don’t know if any of it is worth much at all, but I hate the idea of it all going to the landfill.
I understand. The china that I received as wedding gifts in 1978 has followed me around the country since, in the original boxes. I have never used it. No one wants it, it’s fancy and must be hand-washed. I hate to send it to the landfill too, but if I don’t then someone else will when I’m dead.
I was able to donate my china to the gift shop at the local hospital. It amazed me that they wanted it but they apparently only sell fine china & collectibles.
https://americanmosaics.org/
Have you ever considered passing on your china to a mosaic artist? That way it could live on as part of a work of art, or you could even commission a work ( bird fountain? Lamp?) using it.
Could you hold an estate sale?
You should check in your area if there is a person/organisation that does decluttering/selling on your behalf.I made use of a local girl, her business is named Sell On.She’s helped me 3 times already to declutter things that came from 4 generations’ homes that ended with me between apartment/strorage facility She takes the pics/price items accordingly, sets the date for her whatsapp/telegram sale and the collection date, and bam!Problem(s) solved. But maybe just a garage sale/carbootsale might suffice?
I got lucky, my parents packed a few boxes and moved to assisted living last year. My brother moved into their house and took care of disposing of anything I didn’t want. I have no idea what he did with it but I’m not overly sentimental so I’m not bothered.
Does your local area have a Buy Nothing group on Facebook? Neighbors post and give away all kinds of things. I’m a member of mine and it’s been great for decluttering.
50_Roses, have you contacted any antique stores in your area? I’ve seen Hummel figurines for sale in a few of them.
Habitat for Humanity ReStores might also be a potential resource for you. But each store has their own list of what they will and will not accept.
I am going to go with one of Robin’s questions about what I bought recently. I have been in search of an orange blossom again as I have been kind of missing that for a while. Thanks to a generous NSTer that gave me some orange blossom soap and lotion she purchased in France, I was reminded of the lovely Serge Lutens Fleurs d’Oranger. I haven’t had it for years, but they had a good price at one of the discount perfume stores. I also decided to go with the Shalimar Iris though I hate blind buying anymore. If it doesn’t work for me, you will see it in the swapmeet.
Nothing exciting for SOTD so I will leave it at that.
Orange blossom cheers me up,always!
Hello Perfume People! Seems like long time, no post. I haven’t been wearing perfume at all lately, and didn’t seem to miss is. So, no reason really to post on a perfume blog, right?
But last night I decided to navel gaze a bit and ruminate as to WHY I haven’t been wearing it. It certainly hasn’t been a deliberate decision, more like a simple “Sin of Omission.” I haven’t even been opening my storage box to get a whiff in passing as I used to do, almost on the daily. Not to mention just gazing at all the pretty bottles occasionally…
I concluded I have been stuck in the Realm of Anhedonia for various reasons. Not a nice place to be but feel I’m gradually crawling out of my emotional grave. Last night, for the first time in what seems like forever, I put on a bit of perfume before bed. Au Coeur du Desert to be exact. It seems appropriate as I’m currently in the middle of the Great Basin area of Nevada. And to my surprise, I found it even more delightful and lovely that I remembered. I may apply again tonight…
I’ve been a scent slacker (and a slacker in many other ways recently) but luckily, the world has all you great smelling folks to restore balance. Waft on!
Good to hear from you, even if your world hasn’t been all that scented lately. We missed you!
Thank you! You’re very kind. I will have to get back in NST groove and figure out what I missed. 😊
A lot of people have been asking about you so know that you have been missed. We have been a little worried. Glad all is ok and you are wearing a little perfume again 😊
Thanks so much, everything is good. Just trundling along, hopefully smelling good as I go.
Hi, Deva, you have been missed! Glad you are ok and ready to wear perfume again.
Thanks, appreciate your kindness. 🙂
Glad you said Hi!We missed you!
I know that feeling,I basically have two extreme modes:”perfume funk”(not wearing/undecided/overwhelmed by my stash!),and “perfume thunk”(wear it all, wear the most expensive precious ones to the grocer/copious amounts of sprays to gas out my colleagues/excessive wearing of one perfume to just get rid of it and then regret the decision and lament the lack of a bub for days)….Lol.
I get you!
XO’s
Lol, I totally get that pendulum swing back and forth. I wish there was a perfume that could legit “thunk the (emotional) funk”
Deva!
I came for the perfume but stayed for the people. You are a people! Lol
I missed you.
Lillyjo, you’re making my eyes leak with that comment! Thank you, hope all is well with you and your kiddos!
❤️
Nice to hear from you! I too have been through a long period of disinterest in perfume that I’m just starting to re-emerge from and feel excited about wearing again. I think it was all the stress/anxiety/sadness of the past three years (pandemic, disastrous move, then another move, marital discord as a result of moves, etc).
I’m glad you are starting to feel better and you could not have picked a lovelier scent.
Thanks, it is a beautiful one. I only have the small 5ml cobalt travel size, but luckily, a little of this goes a looong way!
We have missed you and your posts. 🤗
I have gotten lukewarm w/ fragrance a few times in the last several years. I truly love perfume and sometimes I almost (which is to say definitely 😉 ehehe ) get manic about it where I am super interested for a period of time. But then w/ the multitude of life stressors I have lost interest and kind of feel almost overwhelmed by it…like I can’t decide what to wear and just don’t have the interest. Vanilla is of course my spirit animal that always draws me back. 😆
Hoping to see more of you as you work your way out of the Realm of Anhedonia. ❤️
I’m with on the undying love a vanilla! I found this little article that tries to explain the vanilla boom in perfumes that started in the 90’s. It seems science does back up the fact vanilla lovers have always know. Vanilla = Happy Calm

Thank you for sharing! Interesting read. It really is soothing.
Glad you stopped by, smelling fabulous as usual! I visited the Eastern part of the Basin and Range area once. I loved Lehman Caves NP and then stopping somewhere along the way to climb up and see some bristlecone pines – wish I could remember where. Too, I’d like one day to go back and dig for trilobite fossils at a tourist trap that we had to pass by. There’s *SO* much to see…
Yes, lots of fossils in this area. I just arrived at cathedral gorge and will spend a couple days here poking about. It’s still very warm here and I’m hyper alert for danger noodles. I hope you get to make it back here to explore some more. 😊
Glad to see you posting again Deva. Add me to the list of folks who were concerned about your whereabouts.
I understand anhedonia all too well lately. My chocolate stash is almost completely gone, and I have had no interest in replenishing it. My perfume wearing has also been intermittent. Still wearing perfumed/scented lotion everyday, though.
I keep reminding myself to take one day at a time.
Well, you’ve had some big changes in the past few months so totally understandable. Like you said, one day at a time. I’m hoping to get back into biking a bit because exercise, as hard as it is to make yourself do sometimes, goes a long way to improving emotional balance. May your perfume mojo return swiftly and ten fold! 😉
So glad to see you Deva, scented or not!
Thank you! And I hope your getaway was relaxing and restorative!
Spent the day in Vol de Nuit edt, for a haircut appointment and just general lazing around. Okay, and three loads of laundry. 😁
We were half twins. I skipped the laundry and just lazed around. Lol.
🤣
😀
Hehehehehe!
Aha, 3 loads of laundry twins! And I have one more load to do tomorrow.
Went to a mall today with a friend today, and stayed commando since we’d be in the car for a bit. Tried on four lipsticks at Sephora, none of which were in stock, so I guess I wasn’t meant to pick up a fall lippie.
I did try Vanilla Era, by Boy Smells, and it was quite nice. It’s not ground breaking, but it’s a respectable sweet, ambery vanilla. I have other bottles that fit the bill, though.
Vanilla Era…refers to forever? Seriously funny name.
Easy like Sunday morning….
Good morning!

Love that song!
Same morning here, but 16C! 🙂 Sat out on the balcony with the dog in a sweater. Your perfume sounds lovely.
Oh boy,you know us saffas,16° will find us huddled inside!Haha!Enjoy your Sunday!
We made it up to 24 so far, shorts weather! Went for a walk down to the ice cream shop. 🙂 Hope you had a good day too.
🤗🌹My day was great thanks!
Sounds like a wonderful day! We’ve had a stretch of fall weather here over the last week — sunny skies and highs around 20. I’m enjoying it while I can!
Sounds good to me;Happy Sunday!
It’s wasp season here and they are everywhere, but I’m going to wear Jasmin Bonheur anyway, just because I feel like it.
You can never go wrong with a jasmine fragrance🌸
In Shalimar MVP today which really doesn’t jive with my baggy jeans, Jasper National Park T-Shirt, and flannel. Oh, and my hot pink floral North Face Thermoball slippers, but who cares?
This flanker is as lovely as I remember- soft, comforting, almost like being coddled by a loving mother when you have the sniffles or an ear ache. So happy I have a full bottle.
Smell well, y’all!
You smell great! Looking forward to smelling this year’s iris flanker.
We’re having a cool, slightly cloudy day today, and to celebrate I’m in OJ Woman. First wearing in a long while, and it’s glorious.
I was just thinking it’s just about Theorema weather 🙂
Inspired by meredifay’s story about Samsara, I am enjoying a beautiful afternoon in my best-beloved powerhouse Estee Super. I am comparing three versions, a vintage Super Perfume dab, a spritz from a “pineapple” bottle stage left, and a spritz from a frosted bottle stage right. They all smell great to me, perhaps even “fresh and clean.” 🙂 Robin, I hope you are back home safe, sound and perfumed; and I hope everyone else is have a good start to the week! If our trusty UPS driver is on duty, I’ll be reporting on Millesime Iris Monday.
I am home and was too frazzled getting unpacked and cleaning to think about perfume, but first thing tomorrow I will! Hope your SMI will arrive.
I’m glad to see Deva is posting again! I am wearing Frapin 1270 and relaxing after a workout. My legs feel like overcooked spaghetti.
Good for you for working so hard!
☺️✌🏼
L’Artisan Iris De Gris for a cozy day of chores and puttering.
You smell great!
Thank you!
I tried Millesime Iris last night and loved it. I get a lot of caramel and only a bit of iris. I would have liked a bit more iris, but I think part of that is really because of the expectation set up by the name. pfsh’s description from Friday is spot on for how it smelled to me.
I’m back home after two weeks away and spent today commando while I unpacked, harvested and the cleaned up the veggie garden, and gave some much needed TLC to my indoor plants. Mr. Vee is good about watering everything while I’m away, but he is much more timid with pruning than I am, so everything was looking a little ragged. I’m tempted to try the sample of Tobacco Honey that came with my MI after I take a shower.
Welcome back!
I didn’t get any caramel for my first wear. I wish I did. Maybe once I am feeling better.
Sorry you aren’t feeling well lillyjo, hope you are feeling better soon.
I wore L’Eau de Sport this morning for my workout, and switched to Diptyque Orpheon this afternoon. I like the Diptyque, but don’t need more of it.
Did laundry today and played Rummikub with some buddies. We have a group of 10 people who play in groups of four on certain days. I can’t believe how addicted I’ve gotten to this game! We play for a couple of hours – that’s about how long our keisters can take it. 😂
I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Hugs all around! 🤗
Hugs back 🤗
I did 6 sprays of Guerlain Neroli Vetiver Harvest (amazing honey and neroli!) today before I hopped onto the Subway. A person that I sat next to got up at the next stop and moved to a different seat! It’s the first time this has happened to me. Not really taking it personally as the other people sitting next to me had no problems with my fragrance for the rest of the ride.
I’ve been wearing the Shalimar Millesime Iris a few times in a row now. The caramel is less foody to me now that my nose is used to it, but other than that I think my first impressions still hold. Looking forward to next week when everyone gets their bottles!
