It’s Friday, plus United Nations Public Service Day. (Plus, a few birthdays: Alan Turing, June Carter Cash, Frances McDormand.) It's also National Let It Go Day. Our community project for today: wear a perfume that works in the way the day is intended...that is, that helps you let go of negative feelings from the past. OR, wear a perfume you've been hoarding, OR, thunk (use up) a bottle or sample, OR, come up with some other creative take on the theme of letting go.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm giving myself bonus points. On one arm, I'm wearing Gobin-Daudé Sous Le Buis, a perfume I adored, waited to buy at half price when the brand went out of business, then hoarded too long: it really does not smell so great anymore and I am throwing it out right now. On the other arm I've got Gobin-Daudé Sève Exquise, which is no longer in pristine condition but it does still smell lovely after it settles...I need to stop "saving it" and wear it more often.
Reminder: on 6/30, we're off to Germany (you can do a day or whole week, as always). Wear a perfume by a German brand (Escada? Hugo Boss? Jil Sander? Mäurer & Wirtz / 4711?) or named for a place in Germany, or that you bought in Germany, or whatever you can think of to fit the theme. Suggested by ockeghem and voted for by carole and chocolatemarzipan8.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I am not really CP compliant-I’m wearing Cologne Bigarade, because it’s hot and my work today is physically demanding.
Robin I remember the Gaubin-Daude fragrances, and how special they are. I never got to try them but I like hearing about them.
It did make me sad to toss that in the trash!
I’m wearing Mitsouko edt. I am cp compliant, since this was the last of my original bottle of Mitsouko. I received it as a gift from Doc Sinister, who is no longer posting. It’s been many years, and I have hoarded it, but today I used it up. This is what drew me down the rabbit hole.
Aw, congrats on finishing it up but that is sad.
Perfume sisters!
Today I finished a decant of Frederic Malle Geranium Pour Monsieur. I have a backup decant though, so I am not sure if I deserve full points. Maybe half? It is a great scent for a hot weather – minty geranium, very aromatic. Our water company is doing some maintenance work, so they turned off water about three hours ago, and it is still not on. Fortunately, the a/c and my SOTD help me feel fresh. 😀
Hope it won’t be too long for the water to come back. I’ve never tried FM Geranium but I love the note.
I’m wearing Aura Mugler today because pyramus wore it yesterday and it sounded good. In trying to make a connection to the CP, I’ve decided Aura works best if you let go of preconceived notions about the listed notes. It’s just not like anything else.
There you go, points for creative approach to cp 🙂
I chose SMN Eva for the CP, on the theory that it’s impossible to have negative feelings while wearing such a cheerful scent. For me it’s a “sunshine in a bottle” fragrance that chases any negativity into the next county. Hey, happy Friday everyone!
You smell fantastic, and I guess I lose points for being envious of your bottle 🙂
Happy Friyay!
I’m in Amouage Beloved, totally cp compliant:letting go of my hoarding tendencies and enjoy(enjoy!ENJOY!!!) all my fabulous perfumes!
✌🏻🤗🌹
ENJOY it all, JB! Hope you have the weekend off.
Its Friday!
SOTD is Satori. While I will never let everything go – I have learned to let so much go. While I will never achieve satori, I can live with inner peace.
You smell wonderful, Satori is so sophisticated!
Ahh, I never actually knew what satori meant so this prompted me to look it up. Perfect pick for the CP!
Letting go my bottle of Kenzo Amour Indian Holy. I hoarded for a couple of years the last mls that were left in this backup bottle, since it was discontinued. Today was the day to say goodbye to it. I am “replacing” it though with a new bottle of Kenzo Amour that it is already on the way to me. While pretty similar, I prefer the Indian Holy better.
Happy Friday! ☕️
Happy Friday, Amour is lovely and versatile, more so than the gold Amour le Parfum which is almost too rich, Indian Holy looks interesting too, never tried it.
I love Amour EdP. I was tempted to get Le Parfum, but I didn’t want to risk a blind buy. I am glad to hear the scent is richer, which is something I am not looking for right now.
I enjoyed the rice note on Indian Holy greatly. It was a softer, more delicate version of the original Amour.
Yes, your getting Amour EDP was the right decision, I couldn’t wear le Parfum in the summer. Another perfume with rice I like very much is Fils de dieu du riz et des agrumes which I always associate with Deva.
I have been craving perfumes with a rice note lately. I haven’t tried Fils de Dieu yet, but I have a bottle sitting in a cart for a couple of weeks already. I think that would be a safe blind buy.
I never was able to smell the rice note in Fils de Dieu. I definitely get the spices, lime, and coconut in it, though.
Your sotd sounds wonderful! And the bottle!
Glad you have a “replacement” on the way. I also got a bottle of Amour, mostly because of the rice note (on our last trip). It’s a lovely scent (and that bottle!) It’s probably a good thing I never smelled Indian Holy, because I’d probably want that too.
I am a big fan of Kenzo bottles. I wish I had enough space to keep them, but unfortunately I have discarded all of them. I am sure you would have loved Indian Holy. Beautiful scent, easy to wear and nice longevity.
Good for you for letting go of the last of your Amour Indian Holi. That was such a nice one, and there have been a few times I kicked myself for not getting a bottle when I could. I finished my decant years ago so only have a memory of it now.
Happy Friday to you!
I think Indian Holy was the best flanker in the Amour collection. I owned most of them just because of the bottles, and they were rather boring and forgettable.
IIRC, the Kenzo Indian Holi bottle was absolutely gorgeous. I waffled over getting it, and by the time I made up my mind, it was gone.
I was lucky to get a BUB when it was still available. It was discontinued very fast. The bottle is indeed gorgeous! I have the empty bottle on my bedside table, and I am debating if I should keep it or not. Most likely I won’t.
Good morning! I’m being proper (but not too proper) in Courreges Empreinte and a crisp white shirt. Decant from the most recent swapmeet. Wasn’t taking notice of the CP, but still awarding myself a point because you have to wear it to use it up and let it go…
Empreinte begs for a crisp white shirt.
It really does, doesn’t it? :- )
No community points for me — I deliberately burned through most of my samples and nearly-empty minis in 2021 and 2022, because it was high time — but for the third day in a row I’m feeling especially green, today in Estée Lauder Private Collection as I run around dealing with errands and laundry and household chores. (If I get it all done today, I can sort of relax tomorrow. Or so I tell myself!) Private Collection is one of those things I really have to be in the mood for, and today I happen to be in that mood.
You smell great today. I love PC though I don’t wear it often. It’s one of those perfumes that I think I must have smelled when I was a child because it smells nostalgic to me.
Hope you got thru all the errands, tasks and chores that you wanted to get done!
Well I am on the nose this morning in April Aromatics’ Unter den Linden. I went through several samples of this, annoyed by the high price tag. (And someone, Hajusuuri? had sent out to the NST universe a bag of most of their perfumes to be tried and then passed on to someone else–it was really fun!) But I finally caved. Now when I wear it, I am not sure what made this one seem so important to have. I wonder if it has lost something in the few years I have owned it being a totally natural (whatevah!) perfume, or if familiarity has just bred indifference. I still get the juicy, sneezy linden, but also somewhere in there a cardboard box. Who knows!
Oh wait. I had some PSAs from my inbox:
Fzotic, everything 15% off code SUMMER15
Paula’s Choice 20% off (already calculated)
I put this in my comment, but Fzotic also just released a limited edition soap called Limonata that qualifies for the discount. I bought a bar last night!
Oh, thank you for the Fzotic! I finally ordered Au Dela.
So much for my Use It Up challenge 😉
Ha, I am afraid if I ever cave and buy AdV Grand Chalet, I’ll do the same thing.
It was hajusuuri who sent out the box of April Aromatics goodness. There were some beauties in there.
Wearing no 5 edt. I have been trying for years to finish this bottle for at least a couple years and I am down to the last little bit of it. I have so much no 5 and have no idea on why I am hoarding it.
Is it your only edt perhaps?
I have a million bottles of the edt but no reason to hoard it.
Very lightly scented in the Kopari Body Glow SPF 50.
Ate about 10,000 cherries yesterday and feeling a bit better today. 🍒
Glad you are on the mend Deva.
Thanks! Hope your birthday was the best!
Smart, lots of vitamin C in cherries to make you feel energised.
Cherry season is so short I feel like I need to dive into it like a humpback whale dives into a cloud of krill! Mouth W I D E open! 🐋
Fresh cherries are the best!
They are!😋
Love the cherries emoji, it’s just so happy!
I hope you have a restorative weekend and get to 100% soon.
They are happy! Years ago I had a cherry scrub top (back in the day when you could wear whatever) and EVERYONE loved it. It was a smile maker! 😊
I get really sick if I eat too many cherries in one go, I’m assuming you can cope with them.
Hope you feel better soon!
Coping excellently, thanks!🙃
https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/jan/21/muster-dogs-the-new-australian-reality-show-set-to-charm-the-world?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Glad you are feeling fitter. I don’t know if you get Netflix but this series about some Australian farmers training kelpies from puppies through to one- year old muster dogs is worth watching. I can’t remember if T-Rex is a blue heeler or a kelpie but she might like it, too.
I canceled all my subscriptions including Netflix. I really only got it so I could watch Seinfeld and wallow around in the way back days when people didn’t get offended by everything and everyone. T-Rex is a mix. Most vets I’ve come across think cattle dog and pit. She looks like a red heeler, her personality is more like a pit. Very outgoing and LOVES people and kids with her whole heart. ❤️ I’m not a big fan of reality shows, so I don’t think I’ll be missing much.
Got my first cherries of the season today – sooo good! I’m in Indiana and these came from California. Michigan produces wonderful cherries, probably a bit later. But I usually like the OR/WA/CA cherries better due to the red-black color and a certain “snap” when you bite into them.
I LOVE that SNAP! I was snapping nonstop yesterday. I hope you buy many bags and enjoy them all summer. I think the ones I picked up were from here (WA), and they were that deep dark burgundy black. Yuummmmy!
🐊🍒🐊
A good cherry HAS to have that snap!
Yum to cherries and glad you’re starting to feel better. I need to pick up some cherries soon too, but it has to be done when I’m going to eat them right away because they can go bad quickly. I’ve been taking advantage of the abundance of peaches at the grocery the last few weeks!
Yes, peaches and nectarines are both on my list but I have yet to come across some good looking ones here. I always hit the grocery at the wrong time it seems, when things are picked over.
Glad you are feeling better. My adventures in Cherry are hit or miss. Surprisingly, the ones from Target were the best (last season).
Thanks. I can’t stand not feeling well, either because of sickness or lack of sleep, because the first thing that goes in my sense of humor. And there are many many many times when humor is ALL I’ve got. 😬
Sounds like you are currently on the way to getting rid of The Crud.
I also currently have cherries! Mine are the Rainier variety, those pretty yellow and red ones. Their season is absurdly short, so I am enjoying them while they are here.
Oh, those are lovely! I’ve never had them because they’re always more expensive than the regular (iirc) and I’m cheap, but I think they’re just beautiful with the swirls of yellow and red! 🤩
Do they taste the same?
No. The Rainier cherries have a different flavor than good old Bing cherries. It’s still recognizable as cherry, but it’s lighter, more delicate and a hint of floral sometimes.
Costco usually has the best quality of Rainier cherries in my area.
In Vetiver Pour Elle, as this is the perfect summer weather for it. If I remember correctly Guerlain’s plain Vetiver is a lot more masculine, so when this is gone it’s gone.
This morning when I was reading yesterday’s comments I saw that we were twins in this! That was unexpected because you don’t see Vetiver Pour Elle mentioned much these days. My decant is almost gone, but I’m happy for you that you still have a good amount in your bottle.
Doing a sample thunk for the CP today with Ayala Moriel Indigo. It is a sample I’ve had for a long time so it’s good to let it go.
Robin, that’s really sad and unfortunate you had to toss your beloved bottle, but I’m proud of you for letting it go. I did that on a much smaller scale last weekend with my old Boucheron Trouble dry body oil that went off. I finally put it in the trash since She-ra generously sent me her unloved bottle of Trouble perfume.
We’ve been doing a lot of letting go around here. Last weekend we took 6 or 7 bags of clothes and shoes to Goodwill. It felt really good!
PSA to go along with Oakland Fresca’s PSA: in addition to 15% off at Fzotic (Bruno Fazzolari), he’s released a limited edition soap, Limonata. It’s got notes of lemon verbena, geranium, and amber. I ordered a bar last night. Good thing they are sold out of Vetiverissimo right now or I might have bought that too.
I need to check out Limonata. I could swear up and down and sideways that I committed to not buying any soaps because I have a LOT.
Please let us know what that soap is like!
I will!
Letting it go by finishing a manufacturer’s spray sample of Ummagumma. (I do have one more…) It’s such a great fragrance. I have not, however, let go of my plan to own a bottle someday. Happy Friday, all.
That one’s on my long term list too, sp. Smelling great today!
Not to be a pusher, but Fzotic is doing 15% off right now and I don’t think he does sales very often.
What therabbitflower said!
Echoing both therabbitsflower and hajusuuri!
I was eyeing a bottle of Au Dela Narcisse longingly this afternoon.
Not CP compliant today – I’m having Beachy Vibes today with Lucy B Pink Frangipani and Aerin Hibiscus Palm. Both rollerballs, and I kind of want to buy bottles of both. Honestly, I wear them both, but I’m nowhere near finishing off either one, so it’s that ancient brain “hoard the things” mentality at play. I argue with the part of my brain regularly.
On the let-it-go front, I was going to thunk a travel spray of Osmanthe Yunnan. I just sprayed it again, and now I’m not so sure it’s bad. Once the alcohol burned off, it’s ok…?
Can the itself alcohol go off?
I’ve experienced a strong alcohol smell in the initial spray or two of a perfume I hadn’t worn in a long time. I think maybe it’s the stuff that’s been sitting in the sprayer? Then after those first two sprays come out, it smells good and normal.
Sometimes perfume left in the tube leading up to the atomizer of a perfume will get oxidized. Once it gets sprayed out, the rest of the perfume is (usually) fine.
I don’t think the alcohol goes off, but I do think the lightest citrus notes can go off, and those burn off quickly.
I could not come up with a good idea for this CP so I’m wearing Manoumalia because it’s hot! Gorgeous perfume and one of the most unique fragrances I own.
That’s a great one! I held on to my sample for a while, but I think I went ahead and finished it a couple years ago.
When I saw today’s cp, I immediately thought of my yoga teacher’s oft-repeated comment that her favorite mantra is ‘Let Go.’ She frequently starts our class with deep breathing to relax and de-stress: ‘Inhale . . . Let, exhale . . . Go’ repeated several times. So ‘breathe’ is my theme for today’s Letting Go cp.
SOTD is the long d/c YR Neonatura Breathe (called ‘Soufflé’ in Europe). Its ginger topnote adds just a bit of spice – and reminds me of the crystallized ginger she always distributes before class – and joins with citrus top notes for a bright opening and tiara flower and ylang ylang add creamy midnotes on a soft vanilla, amber and benzoin base. It’s my favorite yoga fragrance. And to complete my ‘breathe’ theme, here’s my favorite post-yoga video, Respiro, from my favorite guy. This was filmed in a deep cavern in one of my favorite Illinois state parks, Starved Rock State Park. Hope you enjoy: https://youtu.be/ksCbfq-YNgA.
We had a wonderful time in WI last weekend. Saw 3 bands at the Leinie fest followed by another band at our campground later that night. All were fantastic and I highly recommend them to those of you in Wi & MN: Uncommon Denominator, The Dweebs, Bagmen, and JFT, The Party Band. The Dweebs featured Papa Dweeb, who’s been a rocker for more than 30 years, whose family band includes not only 2 sons + 1 daughter but a grandson as well! One of the performers does an incredible Michael Jackson, complete with costume, and does at least 8 more costume and performer changes. The JFT Band distributes a list of the 100+ songs they perform in all genres and has the audience check which ones they’d like the band to perform. Really cool! In addition to these 4 bands, we saw jazz guitarist Pat Metheny @ Ravinia when we came home. a neighboring park district concert last night, and our own park district concert will be tonight. That’s an incredible 7 concerts in 7 days for us, probably not to be repeated again!
A White Sox game tomorrow and our local Garden Walk on Sunday will complete this ‘vacation week’ for us. Then back to the Real World next week. Happy weekend to all! 🎶 🎵
What a fun week! Sounds like you enjoyed every minute 😊
I always get good ideas for new plants from our local Garden Walk.
Wow! What a whirlwind of activity!
What fun! And I love Pat Metheny, and did not even know he was still touring.
Commando because I will be seeing Niece Tator Tot later today, but complying with the CP in spirit by thunking a bottle of face moisturizer, using up some makeup samples, and moving a pair of boots that I love, but my calves have outgrown, to the donation pile.
Tea today is F&M Assam and I thunked my tin. I like it, but not more than the Assam I have from Clipper Ship Tea, so I’m not planning to buy another tin.
The CP was motivating for me this week!
More PSAs: Beauty Habit is 10% off $100+; 20% off $200+
Last week there was a 20% off $100. Thanks for the PSA though.
Clipper Ship has some excellent teas. Thanks for introducing me to them!
Banana, strawberries and yogurt smoothie
Used the last of my sample of l’Eau Mixte, one of the favorite scents from my discovery set, it’s refreshing and aromatic and delightful. Tonight it’s Jardins de Bagatelle, a perennial favorite, I was a teenager when it came out and got a bottle immediately, the EDT was first released but it behaved more like an EDP, today I have a vintage version of the EDP from the early 2000’s which smells very much like the scent in the eighties.
Oh, that one went to a FB very quickly. You smell great!
Thank you, I can see how one would go for a bottle quickly, it’s a perfect summer scent.
I mean, for me. 😂
😀 Glad you like it so much as well.
You will smell wonderful – I love JdB, and have it in vintage edp and edt, and an edp bee bottle.
Thank you, you’re obviously a fan too.
I’m having a peach note sniff-off today, because I just got a sample of the new L’Artisan Fleur de Peche, and wanted to compare it to the other peach I have, Flower of Immortality. So far, Fleur de Peche has got a bit of that fuzzy navel liquor smell, I quite like it. I definitely know though it’s not FBW for me, but I’ll happily thunk the sample. And Flower of Immortality really smells like peach tea to me, even if tea is not listed as note. It’s got that bright and slightly tannic tea smell. Both are miles ahead of Bitter Peach, which did not work for me!
I can’t think of many other peach scents I’ve smelled. I remember really loving Keiko Mecheri’s Peau de Peche, but it was a bit too soft and really didn’t last. And I won’t compare any of this to Mitsouko…. I just don’t think of Mitsouko as a peach scent.
I’m drinking an earl grey creme tea my Dad brought me from London. It’s earl grey + vanilla, a new to me combination. The vanilla is quite faint.
Have a wonderful weekend, all!
I probably should let go of Bitter Peach as it did not work for me either.
Flower of Immortality was no bueno either – I don’t think I’m anosmic to it but it did not last longer than 20 minutes for 4 generous dabs.
We were Tea Twins today. I also had a Vanilla Earl Grey tea.
I like YSL Champagne/Ivresse and EL Tuscany per Donna for a peach scent. I had the same reaction to KM PdP.
I’m wearing Promesse de l’Aube and failing miserably at the CP. I think I have let go of bad feelings and old clothes and perfume I didn’t like and I can’t really think of anything to let go of today.
You smell stunning! I teared up first time I smelled it. So, so beautiful.
I chose Chanel’s “Bel Respiro” as a scent that to me always seems like an invitation to leave behind one’s (metaphorical) baggage and start afresh – so perfumewise I’m kind of participating in the day’s original spirit.
Outside of perfume, however, I had the chance to do the exact opposite of “letting go”: reestablishing contact and meeting up with a former colleague and friend I hadn’t seen for six or seven years … or maybe even in this context I did let go of something after all – my embarrassment at not having kept in touch more regularly, that is!
So nice to make contact
There was a time when I met up with someone whom I haven’t seen in decades and guess what? Our conversation carried on as if we were just talking to each other yesterday.
Congrats on getting back in touch with someone you missed!
I’m back at work after having the last two days off. I am getting better about letting material things go, but I keep so much in my heart and head. I don’t have a perfume to help for that. I do have some beautiful perfumes though and I am wearing one for the cp. YSL Paris which always makes me smile. My bottle comes from the loveliest of Nsters so double points.
I am wishing everyone a happy weekend!. Oh and thanks for all the birthday wishes the other day, I am sorry I was unable to get back to everyone. 🌞
https://youtu.be/sHNBxd4LnDs
A little something for my 80s Metal Heads 🤘🎶
Perfect!
One of my all time favorites!
The older I get, the more I admire that band for sticking together and continuing to 100% rock. Most bands could never have made it through the challenges they faced.
Perfect song for today! I remember how excited I was the first time I saw them in concert.
Did you get chocolate cake?? Hope so
No! I got yellow cake with jelly filling. Lol.
Yellow cake! Have another birthday this week and get chocolate cake
Grab some really good chocolate cupcakes for you and your daughter!
Oh goodness, happy belated birthday to you! 🎂🎉
Thank you!
You are decisive when it comes to buying perfumes!
Wait till Donatella visits!
Love Extreme, By Kilian
This is a great scent. Makes me very happy when I wear it
Was back at the library today -it felt so good to be back after taking a break.
This is one of my favorite Kilians!
Yes, enabler pin to you
I have been looking at all my books – the bookshelves packed and stacked, the toppling towers on tops of dressers and low tables, a long bench covered with piles of poetry, bedside tables six-deep in current reads, my desk….I cull all the books I only need to read once but I still have a lot of books, and multiple editions of some classics that maybe I should let go of? Do I need four copies of Walt Whitman? Mansfield, Chekhov, Wharton…how many Waldens for one pond? Phrase book, dictionaries, foreign dictionaries, modern English usuage…when I often Google? A bookcase of bird guides? Stacks of Lady ird books and tiny Observer guides…pond life, grasses, flags, coins…
But I love them and it’s the same with this perfume, Mitsuoko, because it takes me places, away from myself and makes the world bigger and more interesting.
Dear Kanuka-I feel you with your books and letting go. I was thinking the other day..I have so many Mary Renault books on my shelf. I think I could donate them but I don’t.
Classic Guerlains are powerful that way, aren’t they?
My new method: take a bunch of books you are not positive you need, put them in a box, put the year on the box, put it in the basement (or where ever). If you find the box in 5 years and can’t remember what books are in it and you never went looking for them, you don’t need those books.
(This was an accidental method, I seriously found 4 boxes of books this week that I forgot were in the basement. I decided to get rid of them without looking inside.)
p.s. yes I am still wondering what books were in the boxes.
My order of samples arrived from Luckyscent yesterday, so I’m definitely not CP-compliant. I am very excited to smell MDCI’s reissued Enlèvement du Sérail, I sampled it years ago and loved it, but it was gone before I could decide whether I could sensibly pay that much for a perfume. I also got a sample of Vero Profumo’s Rubj VdE. I have and love the EdP, but hadn’t tried the other. Some side-by-side comparisons are needed.
Meanwhile, I have interpreted the theme of letting go as letting go of my anxiety about having too much perfume. I clearly do, and since I’ve already passed any rational limit of what I could use in my lifetime, I’m just going to carry on. 🙂
They reissued Enlèvement? What’s it like compared to the original? I got a bottle of it ages ago. Gorgeous fragrance.
I’m in a dab or two of Harvest Mouse. Woo wee, I like this one a lot. I’m trying to tell myself it’s a little too sweet for me, but it’s probably that it would wear better on me in the fall and winter. I have a lot of lovely fall/winter options, so I should probably just “let go” of the idea of a full bottle.
Okay….maybe a travel spray….
Enabler here… 👋 get it!
I’m sure you have earned it this year, and I don’t recall you getting a birthday perfume. 🙂
Wearing Bronze Goddess today. Sprayed myself “hajusuuri levels” since I have a bub, so why not? To me, this is one scent that is really good oversprayed.
Happy Friday, everyone!
I do “hajusuuri” level sprays some days as well.
LOL! 🤣
For the CP, Beyond Paradis. My connection is letting go negative feelings about not having BUB’s. I fell in love with BP as I was going down, down the rabbit hole. I was flush with the joys of finding Ebay cheapies with OG batch codes, and I loved the scent. For me, Beyond Paradise evokes the emotions I feel smelling wild honeysuckles on humid Summer air in my backyard. But today, after many sprays, I realized that 50mls would last the rest of my life! I will gather my *5* bottles, makes sure they are all still good (I seem to recall that one of them was iffy), and find a way to let some of them go.
You’re the BUB Queen! Go you! 😉
😸
BP is fantastic, what a good choice.
Thanks🌺
SOTD = Parfums MDCI Chypre Palatin
… from my dwindling decant. I am shouldn’t hoard it because I have BUB. It’s hard to let go and I will. I think I can still eke out 3 wearings at full 💥! No IG pic but I may do a round up pic for M-F.
Remember the woman whom I said was just plain loud? I spoke with her manager today and before I was done he said she will not be a problem sometime next week. Oy! I know it’s not because of me but I will say that I can tell whose work gets published and there’s barely anything from her. I hope for the best for her.
Even though this was a short week, it felt looooong and I am really glad it’s FriYAY!
Every time I see “Chypre Palatin”, I misread it as “Chypre Paladin”. Too much time spent rolling funny dice for me?
I am letting go of my 2-3 bottle a year buying limit for 2023. I had about used up my sample of Gypsy Water when I found I really missed it. Plus my $53 credit I got with the Byredo discovery set (which annoyingly I purchased solely to try the Gypsy Water since I had the other samples and GP was always out of stock on Luckyscent) so I felt compelled. I caved and bought a bottle, the 50 ml. I am quite enjoying Gypsy Water now that I find I can smell it, since I could not at first.
Truthfully, I am at 5 bottles purchased this year, though most are 30-50 ml. I became enthralled with dry vanillas/juniper/woody and bought a lot of those type of scents. Truthfully, I think it was the incense that sold me on Gypsy Water. The trouble with being a collector is it means buying items one doesn’t need but I guess that is part of the point.
I also had to let go of my Narciso Rodriguez EDP (pink bottle) that somehow now smells exactly like BenGay cream. Not sure what happened. I think my tastes have changed to some extent but my older NR EDT still smells the same to me. I have the BenGay Narciso in the give away pile but might have to go into the trash since I think it actually turned.
I will try to do better with my buying next year.
Will you go back to a bottle limit at all?
Yes, I think so. I usually buy a bunch of tiny samples to satisfy my craving for new things to smell. Usually I have stuck to my limit
I have let go of some of the lovely leatherbound books that used to cram the bookshelves. They have been either donated to my local library, or given to friends. Lots of other stuff has headed to Goodwill.
The big thing I am currently trying to let go of is my marriage. At the start of May, Mr. Jalapeno said that he wanted a divorce. We haven’t been happy for a while now. That’s why we are fixing up the house, with intent to sell.
That’s also why I haven’t been wearing perfume lately. I will occasionally give something a sniff. But I don’t want to give anything emotional baggage.
SOTD = commando.
I am sorry you are going through this.
Hugs to you during this transition
Thank you lovestosmellgood. Dealing with that and all the contractors has been overwhelming at times. Gotta get thru it somehow…
Appreciate the hugs.
Oh, Jalapeño, I’m sorry.
Thanks ringthing. Can’t say that it’s a surprise, though.
Ugh, so sorry! 🙁
Thank you Deva.
Sorry to hear that. Sending hugs
Thanks thegoddessrena.
Oh dear, that is a big thing to let go. I am glad at least that it was not a surprise, small mercies, right? Wishing you peace and courage.
Robin, I have often thought about divorce in the past 5 or 6 years. Probably should have thought about counselling, too. But I am not sure if that would have helped.
I am so sorry to hear that, Jalapeno. I went through the same and I understand how difficult it is. Sending you hugs and supporting thoughts.
Thanks perfumelover67.
It’s so sad to know that you’ve grown apart from your spouse instead of growing together.
I am very sorry Jalapeno.
Thank you lillyjo.
I am sorry you have to deal with a divorce. This is never easy, sending you strength and hugs.
Thanks Aurora. You are right. This situation is not easy at all.
Sorry to hear. Hope for healing and better times in the future.
I know what you mean about going commando for bad days, not wanting scents to have negative emotions and memories associated.
Thank you Zephyr2.
I have learned the hard way about bad perfume/scent associations. Right now I have a bottle of LUSH’s Sticky Dates shower gel that I can’t stand b/c of bad vibes.
I’m reading this late/the next day. I’m so sorry to hear this, Jalapeno. Sending you strength and a few more hugs.
Thanks Gail. I will take all the hugs I can get.
Sending you a hug. I hope the process will be as painless as possible and the letting go part comes to you easily.
Thank you therabbitsflower.
Sending delayed hugs and strength to you as well, Jalapeno.
Thanks She-ra.
Wore La Baie des Anges for my last midterm and letting go of the stress of this week.
Yay for the last midterm!
