It's Monday, plus World Environment Day and National Veggie Burger Day. What fragrance are you wearing?
My plan for today was to start accruing community project points with Strange Invisible Perfumes Musc Botanique, but I'm still under the weather so I'm commando.
Reminder: on 6/9 we're doing Adjectives Friday...wear a fragrance with an adjective in the name. Bonus points if the adjective is apt! Suggested by pyramus.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Morning!
Thought it was time for summer scents, but I’m back i winter wear. It’s about 6 degrees here and raining-for the next ten days. I’m in Goutal’s Myrrhe Ardent-both the EDP and matching body cream. I love matching my body products to my scents.
Hope everyone’s day is pleasant 🙂
You smell wonderful! 😀
Thank you, springpansy 🙂
Oh lordie – 10 days! One to three days max for me but in the 3rd day, I would be asking why me?
right there with you-except this province is having bad fires everywhere, so this is welcome in that regard. Love your vacation pictures-esp the desserts 🙂
Oh good then, hope it rains enough to put them all out.
I love all the Goutal’s fragrances. You smell lovely
Thank you, Lovestosmellgood 🙂
If you can, could you please send some of that rain here?
Last time I did adjectives it was adjective-plus-noun, so this week I’m doing adjective-only, just because I like to make things more difficult for myself. Today I’m in Estée Lauder Spellbound, another one of those scents I bought as soon as I smelled it, because I just knew. (Sophia Grojsman has that effect on me.) My vintage bottle has been going kind of sideways for a while now, visibly darker and with the top a little wonky, but it’s still really, really good, a rich, vanilla-soaked oriental, perfect for this cold, rainy day.
Do they still make Spellbound
They sure do, but (it will probably not surprise you to learn) it’s been reformulated. If you read the reviews on the Estée Lauder website you will find any number of people who wore it back in the day and say it’s not the same at all any more, which doesn’t surprise me: I can’t think of a single scent from the era that hasn’t been altered to a significant degree. If you can find a vintage bottle you might do better, but as I said, mine is definitely going downhill, so it’s not a sure bet.
Hi there!
I am wearing Lush Rentless (solid) for CP. It is mostly sweet, earthy, spicy patchouli with a hint of freshness. I think the name is apt – it is a scent for an optimistic vagabond. “You’re never homeless, only rentless.” I claim bonus points. 😉
😆
IHermessence Cedre Sambac.
I hope you start feeling better Robin.
Barqs, if you have time, will you please tell me more about your SOTD? So intrigued but I live too far away from Hermes to try anything.
I am terrible at describing, but here goes 🙂
Very sheer jasmine with lots of different woods. I do not only smell cedar, but also maybe some sandalwood.
cool-thank you 🙂
Thanks, I am feeling better! Just not quite all the way normal 🙂
Delina- EDP and the Elixer flanker.
Off it the library 🦁 🦁 this afternoon.
Finished this time tomorrow book- very vanilla. 📖
Sorry about the vanilla book, but enjoy the library!
I love today’s picture – it made me look into growing angelica, but it needs Zone 8 or warmer and I’m in 6. I’m well-occupied babying my jasmine and now my tuberose bulbs, which – note to Robin – are beginning to send up some bud stems! The recent warm spell made them very happy. I’m starting the week with my own theme of Use Items from The ‘Meets. Today is Bouquet de Hongrie – it is starting out rather shy and rosy, but I think some nice fruitiness it about to bloom. I missed comments most of the weekend – I was in a Mugler zone – Alien edp mostly.
I haven’t been in a Mugler zone for a while, sounds good!
I was late to the party – my fall down the Rabbit Hole was all about vintage. I think Alien was my first purchase, because of The Non-Blonde’s review (she liked it then not liked it). Next, I was haunted by a sample of Aura and once I got a second sample of Aura edt, “resistance was futile.” 😀
Oh yay for tuberose!! Kevin apparently ordered 50 (!!) tuberose bulbs this year and they were 100% duds, must have had a fungus or something. He is not pleased.
How disappointing and aggravating for him!! Wish I could give him a pot!! Mine, from Old House Gardens, had three out of ten duds BUT one of the bulbs (don’t know if it was one of the duds) had a pinkie-sized daughter attached, so I potted it separately. It’s growing well, though not looking like a blooming year.
Wearing Chaldee today because it’s 50F this morning and expected to be 85F this afternoon, so I need a perfume that spans the seasons lol. Still not sure about the adjective thing, I had it figured that I could do a week of perfumes with the word black or noir but maybe not all suitable for June. Maybe just Friday.
I love Chaldee – you smell great!
The tiny bottle of Eau de Magnolia claimed my attention this morning, so that’s my SOTM. I don’t suppose “eau de” qualifies as an adjective, does it. 😉
Well, even for us, that might be stretching it!
Drained my sample of Yuzu Fou, although there’s nothing crazy about it. Just a perfectly pleasant minty citrus
Thunk!
Hello everyone!
Day one of my next round of classes. So far I’ve learned my first exam is Friday. 🌪️
I’m in Eau d’Hermes, the “stinky” one. Gosh I love this stuff. I wish it had a bit more lasting power but I have a feeling it would be even less popular than it is.
Have a great Monday everyone!
A classic, you smell élégant.
Thank you!
Wow, so fast!! Is it more or less stress to do classes this quickly?
Hmm, it’s both honestly. But I have so much free time while not working that I’m trying to take as much as I can to lighten the load later. But it’s going to be a crazy June!
Gotcha. I’m sure it will be worth it later!
Omnia today. Have no clue as to the exact definition of the word, so I’m not playing along today. Have a great week! ✌🏼
The Latin word just means “everything.”

I’m wearing Nuit de Tuberose today and thunking it. Today and tomorrow are inventory days. It’s going to be a long night.
We need some rain here. It’s getting too dry.
Cute video 😊
Hope you get through inventory ok. Sounds like you might need coffee.
I’m hoping we get free lunch or at least snacks.
Bon courage for the inventory, Lillyjo. Sending rain vibes.
Thanks Aurora, it is very rare we go this long without rain.
“Schoolhouse Rock” for the WIN! 🥇
Good luck with the hated inventory. 🤬
You know it! I tried to get my kids to like Schoolhouse Rock.. but they just didn’t.
Tossing you an Enabler Badge, as a pick-me-up for your inventory. You mentioned that Angel edt Comet bottle last week. Ah-hem, I found a nice offer on Ebay. It arrived today: the scent is patchouli wonderland, and the bottle is ADORABLE. The star cap is magnetic – so cool. With so many brands going for the signature bottle look, I am getting nostalgic about bottles designed for each fragrance. I do still like my standing star edt, though. 🙂
Yay you! And me, it’s been awhile since I have had a pin. Enjoy your new perfume!
Spent yesterday in Gris Charnel and spent this morning vacuuming. Yesterday, I visited my grandmother in memory care and she was incredibly worried about missing dinner and worried about us not getting home to feed our dogs. Dementia is a cruel thing. Spending today in Memoir.
Dementia is awful.
I’m sure your visit was a blessing for your grandmother.
I love love your SOTD. I sprang for a FB of this one
I’m sorry you were saddened by your grandmother’s deteriorating mental state. I know how hard it is. It is sometimes comforting to me that my mother has gone past the stage of having a lot of anxiety and questions to being more serene, because she just doesn’t know a lot of what’s going on any more.
I have found this book extremely helpful, so much so that I’ve given copies away to other family members:
https://www.amazon.com/36-Hour-Day-Alzheimer-Disease-Dementias-ebook/dp/B08TT9RMCY/ref=sr_1_1?crid=X1JGA1AJ2CDL&keywords=the+36+hour+day+book+about+dementia&qid=1685997279&sprefix=the+36%2Caps%2C134&sr=8-1
I wish I had had this book when my dad had dementia, it happened overnight. Thanks for the link.
such a difficult journey. my mother would try to correct my dad. It took us a while to just get her to agree with everything he said and thought he saw.
The 36 hour day book that Calypso has put the link in for is a great read. Super helpful.
Dementia SUCKS.
I just had to put Irisss on again.
🙂
That one sounds so good!
Good day all!
I am still loving No 5 Eau Premiere, which I wore all weekend. I’m blowing through my travel spray a little too quickly — I think the generous spray really adds to the wearing experience and I can’t stop misting!
Not many adjectives in my collection but maybe:
– Hermes Basilic Pourpre
– Matiere Premiere Parisian Musc
– LAP Safran Troublant (troubled?)
Sorry for TMI but in other news, the combination of warm weather and hormonal cycles is making me notice my body odor more than usual, especially on the back of the neck. It really bothers me and interferes with perfume wearing. I shower and change clothes often, and am trying to stay hydrated & eat cleaner these few days to reduce it. Have you experienced this before? Any advice?
You smell great!
I have no experience personally with body odor. If you eat a lot of spicy foods and / or anything sulfurous, your skin may give off a funky smell. I am not a doctor of anything but perhaps you may want to get a lotion or spray or powder that may diminish the sweatiness; you may need a prescription for some.
Thank you! Now I am wondering if its just due to me eating more spicy pickled peppers than usual…. I did pickle up a large jar recently.
Yes, food can be a culprit.
Poor you!
I agree with others and change your diet.
I highly recommend the ladies version of Anti Monkey butt powder. It’s on Amazon. Odor and talc free, it really helps with excess sweat. Summer staple.
Diet can definitely impact one’s personal aroma. Onions, garlic, and eggs all contain sulfur compounds, so you might want to avoid them when your nose is especially sensitive.
There is also the possibility that your deodorant and/or antiperspirant has recently been reformulated. Or it stopped working with your chemistry. Been there. It’s super annoying.
I totally forgot about the CP this morning, because as I was standing in front of the perfume cabinet, Salome was right in front. I hadn’t worn it in a while, so I am wearing it now. I’m waiting for a UPS package that needs a delivery signature, so the kitties are plastered all over me while I’m sitting down.
A friend just sent me this poem today and I thought of it when I read your post about being plastered with cats. It’s fun:
https://brianbilston.com/2023/06/05/job-interview-with-a-cat/
The cats run the house. I don’t mind, though 🙂
The poem is cute, and so apt!
SOTD = Ex-Nihilo Sweet Morphine
I’ll take sweet as the adjective. For some reason, I thought it was a lilac theme this week and I was frantically trying to see how many lilac perfumes I have (according to the list from Fragrantica) and I only have two. I am much happier with the adjectives theme.
I have two travel sprays, one of which came from our very own Holly. Where in the world is she?
A few observations:
– I don’t know why but sometimes the train I catch prohibits people, at least from my stop, to use the first car. I like it because it is a quiet car. Anyway, I was in steerage today and there was one person who got on the stop after mine and for the entire rest of the trip (40 minutes) kept talking. He was not loud but was speaking as if he was using his library voice but would have been shouting were he to think it was not a quiet car. I heard couch and rattlesnake and a bunch of nonsense.
– For what it’s worth, I had been going to another place for lunch approximately 2 out of 3 days because my usual place increased their prices. Every single time I get lunch at this place, there’s a woman outside to the left of the entrance smoking and drinking coffee. Did I just happen to catch her on her lunch hour or does she stay out for an hour then eats at her desk?
– At the place where I got lunch today (the cheaper place), I saw a guy requesting shrimp fried rice but the worker misunderstood and started scooping cooked shrimp to a container. In any case, the guy then clarified and re-did the order. Instead of throwing out the container (which is also used for the final product), he put it back to the stack for the next person. After I got my food, I told the worker that for safety, he should not have returned the container – what is the next person was allergic to shrimp? I used to be and still am if I eat a lot but once upon a time, even a speck of rawness would have caused me to get hives.
The worker definitely should have thrown out the used container.
I agree!
Reusing that food container could be a health code violation.
You probably have that right!
Hello friends, I’m feeling nostalgic and wearing Encre Noire, one of my first full bottle acquisitions. Hope you’re all well 🙂 I miss this lovely community.
Good to hear from you Koyel.
Thanks Aurora <3 good to see you here again 🙂
(Inadvertently garnering CP points–noire is a pretty apt adjective to describe the depth of the vetiver in this one!)
Smelling great, Koyel, nice to see you.
Hiya Koyel!
Hi, Koyel!
Hello, Koyel!
Hello hello! Nice to hear from you!
Sampling Lissom Linden from Prosody. Supple and graceful aren’t necessarily adjectives I’d use in relation to perfume although it is pretty and the name makes a nice alliteration
I love linden, I’m sure you smell Lissom 😉
It was a day of testing Ma Liberté Edp which I had ordered and receive recently. I already have the EDT, my own vintage bottle acquired in 1989 and always loved it but I was curious about the EDP. It is less herbalb dry, richer, sweeter with the same beautiful lavender, I love both the EDT for summer and the EDP for winter.
Tonight it’s the turn of my most animalic perfume, Weil Zibeline Parfum de toilette, I have to be cautious with animalic notes but this one has a beautiful sweet note, it reminds me a little of l’Air de Rien.
You have some of the most incredible “oldies but goodies” in your perfume collection.
I do liké classics plus back then they were so much more affordable than new releases.
You smell fabulous! Ma Liberte edp is my lavender standard! I don’t know Zibeline, but I am a big fan of L’Air de Rien!
So glad you have it too, it’s a gem, from the modern lavenders I love Jersey EDP too, but they’re different enough.
I’m wearing Sandalwood Sacré by Le Jardin Retrouvé, from a very generous NSTer. It’s very retro, in the best way. Nothing like the Santal 33 type of sandalwood that’s very common now. It reminds me of my grandmother, I’m not sure why (the only scent I know she wore is 4711). Maybe it smells a bit like those Chinese paper-wrapped sandalwood soaps, maybe she had those stuffed in her wardrobe? At any rate, I’m quite enjoying this scent trip today. Thanks pfsh for sharing with me!
That sounds lovely…I can hardly remember now what old school sandalwood smelled like, but I know I’d recognize it if I saw it.
I wanted to smell like roses and ivy today.
So, I’m in Diptyque Eau Rose edp now. Later today Jo Malone Melancholy Thistle, for the ivy, and that will probably be my adjective choice for Friday.
Perfect choice for Friday!
Claiming CP points for A Lab On Fire Almost Transparent Blue. Nice light summery citrus / shiso / aldehyde scent, which doesn’t match our weather at the moment — we are currently stuck in the fog with rain (!) and perhaps hail (!!) forecasted for this evening.
Great one for the CP!
Ugh, I hope that you don’t get the hail!
Sotd was Shalimar edc and tonight I am in Fabulous Human(Wick Fragrances)post-shower.
Have a good week guys and girls!
(someone asked yesterday if I have smelled the Demeter Pistachio yet:unfortunately not as I have basically no direct access to Demeter scents. They are yet to appear on my shores!)
Today was 24° celcius Robin.Bearable,haha!
XO’s
Your temps are on par with what New Jersey is presently experiencing.
That’s my favorite iteration of Shalimar and it’s nice in the heat!
Hi J B! I was the one who asked about Demeter. They are fairly short-lived and relatively inexpensive frags, but can be a good representation of the particular scent. I will have to try the Kayali Pistachio so I can compare it to the Demeter version. I’ve never tried any Kayali’s so it could be fun.
Smelling great in your Shalimar!
Thanks Gail!
Maybe when the opportunity arises for someone to mule something to SA for me I could get a Demeter discovery set of sorts.
The Kayali is worth a sniff!
I’ll take some CP points with Nomenclature Minted today.
Random question: Is there some sort of new Axe body spray or something that reeks of cedar? In the last couple of weeks, it seems like every other 20-something male I’ve passed on the street or in the supermarket has doused themselves in a straight, loud cedar scent.
Wow, there must be but I am paying no attention to Axe. You’d probably have to go to Tiktok to find out what it is!
Winter has arrived with a vengeance, after a mild May. It’s going to be cold and wet all week. I’m wearing one of winter favourites, Chambre Noire from Olfactive Studio.
Ugh, sorry Gaynor!
I am wearing Comme des garçons 2 Man
I think this bottle is going with me on holiday this year . Versatile and uplifting.
Also, incense/spciy scents during warm weather, it works for me. 😊
mmmmmmm
you smell great!
CdG2 is wonderful stuff.
You smell wonderful!
I wanted to wear Musc Ravageur today. I don’t wear it often because I’ve been told by people I trust it can smell “off” on me, but I love it! Anyway all I had to do today was take a cat to the vet’s for a senior checkup and I figured that the vet could probably deal with a bit of a musk smell.
Only when I got home and began reading posts did I realize that this is actually a good choice for the CP! “Ravageur” is an adjective and one you probably don’t see in the names of many perfumes!
Hope that your kitty was OK.
It’s perfect!
Starting off the week in Boucheron Trouble, which I was gifted from the generous pixel.
Other than being plagued with neck pain all last week and this Saturday, I’ve had some fun events lately. Friday afternoon I did my first escape room with some colleagues. It was fun but hard and we didn’t solve it in time! The guy working there said we picked the hardest room so I felt a bit better.
Then Friday evening my partner and I attended a “secret cinema” event. Tickets are free and you had to RSVP ahead, but you don’t know what movie they’ll show! This was our second time doing it. The first time they showed Ladies Man, a Jerry Lewis slapstick comedy from 1961. This Friday they showed Smokey and the Bandit (1977). Funny that after thinking the bluegrass country music they played before the movie started was a clue, the guy behind us thought it was Jerry Reed singing and that he’d made some movies with Burt Reynolds. He said, “they wouldn’t show Smokey and the Bandit would they?” I was impressed that he guessed it! The funniest part was that while the hosts were on stage giving background info before revealing the movie, they were slowly displaying the famous naked Burt Reynolds photo on the screen. They started revealing it from the top down hehe. We’d never actually seen the movie so enjoyed seeing all the stunts and antics on the big screen.
I remember both “Smokey and the Bandit” AND that infamous Burt Reynolds picture! Cosmopolitan magazine had a rerun of it sometime in the 1980’s or 1990’s.
We watched SatB over the winter and laughed. I think that was Burt Reynolds best movie. And I remember the poster, of course. Burt Reynolds was a big dang deal in the 70s!
I have terrible allergies today so my sotd is a Claritin.
Aww so sorry apsara, hopefully you will get some relief soon.
Hope the Claritin helps!
Badly needing rain here. I am in the same parched boat as a few other NSTers are. I think at least 4.5 inches of precip is needed to get back to where things should be. As a result, there are plenty of Fire Weather Watches, Warnings, and Advisories. And loads of pollen.
Over the weekend, we assembled the bed and moved most of the heavy furniture back into the master bedroom. There’s still one piece left to move and of course it’s the heaviest of all. Things will be upended in a couple of weeks as the painters come in. So I am trying to get plenty of laundry done before then, plus move a few more things into storage
SOTD = back in Korres Guava lotion on my shins.
Parched and pollen-y here too. Be careful with your furniture moving, I don’t envy you but I am really clumsy.
No major issues yesterday. I did bump one dresser drawer into a door frame, and dropped an F bomb as a result. But the drawer was unscathed.
We have some nifty tools to help with moving heavy things. Makes things easier.
Right there with you on needing the rain!
It’s as dry as a popcorn f@rt out there!
Sending wishes for rain. You’re having a lot of home improvement done, your home is going to look amazing.
I wore several sprays of Bronze Goddess today. I think this is following CP guidelines, although i didn’t feel like either. Wanted to keep it light and summery since it was warm today. Plus we are still working on floors.
Late posting in CdG Vogue 125 – such a lovely and interesting LOTV.
♥
