Happy Friday and happy Cinco de Mayo! Our community project for today: Scarborough Fair...wear a fragrance with parsley, sage, rosemary or thyme.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
I'm commando but in my mind I'm in Providence Perfume Co Tangerine Thyme.
Reminder: 5/12 will be Italian Designer Friday...wear a fragrance by one of the mainstream Italian fashion brands we have not covered so far...maybe Versace, Dolce & Gabbana or Armani? Zegna, Ferragamo, Fendi? (We've already done Italian Niche, and we've done Prada and Gucci).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Basenotes says there is sage in Halston Catalyst for Men and I am going to take them at their word. It mostly smells like soft, rounded spices to me, lots of cloves, so warm and appealing. The warmth suits me well on this cold spring day, only 5°C and it’s been sub-10° for days, but it’s supposed to be 19° on Sunday, so I’m looking forward to that: maybe the trees can finally start to produce some leaves.
Cold spring day here too, pyramus, but we are doing better in terms of trees leafing out.
Finally Friday! I’m participating in the CP today and saved my favorite for last: Tom Ford Moss Breches. It has notes of rosemary and sage, plus tarragon for good measure. Beeswax warms it up quite a bit, and this has the effect of being green and warm at the same time. I love it!
What a fun CP this was – I added quite a few to my “must try” list. 😉
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Wow, that sounds great!
Sadly, it’s long discontinued. I should have mentioned that. Now, if I had bought the vat-sized bottle when it was available, I could have shared it with you! How about that for perfumista justification-in-hindsight? 😄
I’ve gradually realized that beeswax is a note that gives me a transcendent feeling. Would I ever have noticed that before falling down the rabbit hole and reading perfume blogs? Nope.
Nope! 🤗
TF Moss Breches is *so* refined. Not at all what I think of when Tom Ford is mentioned.
Haha, me neither!
Just squeaking into the CP with the rosemary in Safari. *I* can’t pick it out, but Fragrantica tells me it’s there. Almost went with Aramis, which has sage and thyme, but I saw the Safari bottle first. I notice mostly rose, hyacinth, galbanum and amber in Safari. Perhaps the rosemary is bunched with the tagetes and patchouli?
Great call, I like it.
I love Safari!!!
If I awoke on the desert island, and Safari was the last perfume, I’d not be sorry!
Safari makes me think of mals.
Oh, then I am in *good company* – Hi, Mals! 😀
Yes!! It was one of her favorites. Hope she is well. I think her blog is gone.
I often think of mals. She had such a refined voice. I miss her.
I ended up in Wood Sage & Sea Salt, which isn’t bad.
“Isn’t bad” made me laugh though!
I’m also laughing at “isn’t bad.” 🙂 I bought Wood Sage & Sea Salt for my “something unperfumey enough I can still wear to doctor appointments and the like” and it fits that bill!
Corsica Furiosa until my shower tonight, then Shaal Nur.
Does anyone put perfumes into their room diffusers? I sprayed a bit of Furiosa in, added some water, and turned it on. The whole house smells great!
Both Great picks, both are still on my wish list!
I never have, but I will definitely try that now! I have sprayed the bedsheets though much to Mr. Tar Heel’s dismay
Three of four for the CP today, in Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel (everything but parsley). I’ve always liked this one, but never quite enough to buy a FB…I have a FB of Sel et Vetiver that will outlive me (even though I use it often in the summer), and this feels too similar. Still, always a pleasure to wear this one.
3 of 4 is great, I did not even try to think of the cp that way.
You smell great! I wanted to wear it, but it’s a summer scent for me, and it’s still too cold here. Maybe over the weekend, when it’s supposed to be warm!
Love Fleurs de Sel!
I went with the traditional song lyrics for Scarborough Fair. For the morning it is Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt for sage and “Between the salt water and the sea strand”. For the evening it is my sample of Highland Heather for, “And to gather it all in a bunch of heather”.
Excellent!
I’m in Neroli Portofino, so I think it has bergamot, lavender, rosemary and myrtle. I love this scent – I always love any cologne, and this one lasts all day.
Hope Friday is utterly, blissfully uneventful 🙂
Carole
Hear hear!
You smell uplifiting!
You smell great! I love wearing NP on summer weekends and pretending (for a few minutes anyway) that I’m in an italian villa.
I love this blog 🙂
And yes-I like to pretend I’m in Italy, or the south of france, or at that DIor boutique – Cap Ferrat? I mean, we have rocky coats and miles of beaches but I’d like something different 🙂
I agree, carole. I so love this blog.
Kinda sorta in Diptyque’s Vetyverio, which ostensibly includes notes of nutmeg, carrot seeds, and clove. xxoo
I was kinda sorta today too!
Go Warriors!😀
I chose Gucci EDP (dark juice, heavy clear bottle) for the CP. Almost went with Mediterraneo — Fragrantica says both have a thyme note, and if I squint I can find it in the Gucci. This has been a fun CP for me — I think I’ve learned to distinguish a few notes that I really never gave much attention to before.
That Gucci is so good.
Isn’t it though? I think I’m on about my fourth bottle of it. So yummy.
Almost scent twins today!
I’m in very good company then. 😁
Wearing BR 540…which has saffron, ah well.
Hey, it’s related 🙂
Zero CP points for me today. I am wearing Sarrasins.
That bell bottle is probably one of the best looking bottles I have. Its also one of the most impractical bottles I have 😅
Its Liberation Day today in The Netherlands today. On this public holiday we remember and celebrate the end of German occupation in 1945. We were liberated by Canadian, British and American troops (and I bet more nations were involved…). 🕊️
Yay for Liberation day! You smell great.
Happy Liberation Day, Jiji! 🇳🇱
Happy Liberation Day!
Happy Liberation Day! And I’m glad we Canadians helped out. 🙂
Happy Liberation Day! I too love the SL Bells, and I’m still trying to convince myself that one (Mandarine Mandarin) is enough. I was happy to get many of my favorites in the 50ml size. A Bell almost demands that you also get the rather pricey Vaporisateur. 🙁
In France the same liberation holiday is on May 8, geography I guess.
Happy Liberation Day, and someday I hope to own an impractical bell bottle from Lutens 🙂
Happy Liberation Day!
I’m wearing byredo’s De Los Santos, which contains sage. If I hadn’t chosen this scent I would have worn Wood Sage and Sea Salt.
You smell great, I would have worn that too if I had my bottle available (perfumes are arriving next Thursday). All I have is a bag of decants.
Twins!🙌 and we do smell great!
Wearing Amber Absolute as I only have a handful of decants until next week. BUT today is a great day, because my favorite ice cream shop is opening for the season and we have sun after endless rain. Sun is supposed to last for at least a week! Summer is coming!
Yay for ice cream & sun!
It is glorious!
What a great day, glad you are finally having some sunshine! What flavor of ice cream are you going to get?
Just got home with a load of fresh bagels (bagel shop is next to ice cream shop) and I had a half dark chocolate, half vietnamese coffee ice cream cup. Yum!!!
Sun! That will lift the spirits. And ice cream!
We also went by the local perfume shop where I sprayed a dozen things all over me. Heaven!
Ice Cream!
Can’t beat the combo of bright sun and good ice cream!
☀️,🍨, and marvelous perfume. Sounds like a great afternoon!
Happy Friday!
I’m in vintage Diorissimo for my alternate Robin inspired fragrances CP and it turns out I’m picking up double points because Fragrantica lists rosemary as a note. Yay!
I found my little bottle several years ago at the garage sale of my dreams and then tried periodically for years to open it. I tried everything. I wondered if it was a display bottle of some kind and was never meant to be opened.
Then one day, while sniffing with Springpansy, I told Mr. SP about my plight. He looked at the bottle, found a sharp knife and went to work on the little string that had apparently gotten stuck around the stopper. Minutes later the stopper and the divine Diorissimo were liberated. Enduring thanks to Mr. SP!
What a fun story! You should have sought out Mr. SP’s help sooner! But the wait made the pleasure more intense, I’m sure.
Absolutely!
I love the story.
Love that, and love that it fits the cp.
Hurray for Mr. Springpansy!
I have the odd Friday off and taking my mom to the art museum to see the Tudor display. Wearing vintage Jicky extrait today for the CP.
What a nice day you have planned, enjoy!
Good call on the vintage Jicky and the Tudor display!
That Tudor display sounds like it will be well worth the trip.
I’m wearing Nicolai’s Cologne Sologne which lists rosemary as a note, so I’m taking a point for CP. It’s still pleasantly cool today, but pretty soon I’ll be reaching for it and other colognes in my summer rotation.
Ah, have not smelled that one in a long time. Good pick.
Dear Robin
I am so sorry for your loss. Your home life always sounded so grounded and without drama. You once answered a question of mine about second marriages and said that your marriage was very happy. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I heard this song tonight and thought of you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5moaSnbbgE
I am wearing Dior Grenville for the CP, my most herbal fragrance.
Thank you so much Amyitis. I don’t know about entirely “without drama” but we’d been married almost 26 years. We worked a lot of stuff out over the years and the hard part was behind us. We were mostly having a lot of fun and there was plenty of laughter to go around.
I had never heard that song, it’s lovely.
I am wearing Diptique Tempo for the CP (clary sage.) I found this decant while looking for something else, as so often happens. I must have gotten it from someone here at NST but I didn’t even know I had it so thank you, whoever! It smells great even though I am getting a bit of a Playdough accord.
I looked up Boucheron bcs it has so many notes, but it has basil, not rosemary. Happy Friday everyone!
Tempo is lovely. Enjoy your weekend.
Ringthing, you saved me! I’ve been racking my brain to come up with something for today’s CP and now I can finally relax.
I’ll be wearing Tempo, which I love.
You smell great!
And so do you! 😊
Tempo is the closest I have come to getting a FB of anything from Diptyque. You smell fabulous!
I’ve been falling in love with it all day, I’m so glad I found this decant!
I’m in Eau D’Italie’s Jardin du Poete which apparently has only basil and none of the four herbs from Scarborough Fair. But, I think of the song as more of a poem, which is why I chose JdP for today. I loved the CP this week.
Tea today is F&M’s Assam Superb with a handful of gingersnap cookies.
I’m hoping to get my vegetable garden planted this weekend. I feel behind already, but the temperature has been so volatile that I’ve been holding off.
I’m planting, too. The weather here’s been so crazy I’m behind in planting my spring veggies. 🤞the hot weather won’t arrive too soon for them!
Oh, gingersnaps are SO yummy! 😋
Trying hard for points
blackberry and bay, with Wood Sage and sea salt, and a dash of Basil Neroli.
🌱 hope I get partial points
You deserve some, and I bet you smell wonderful, in any case!
Thank you ☺️

I am going to this movie, about a Moroccan tailor this weekend and will report back. Have you checked out the Serge Lutens’ room sprays? There are two Moroccan scents, one a garden, the other an interior. Might be nice.
Will this movie come to NYC- I hope 🤞
I can’t wait to hear how it is
I’m going on a Serge Lutens sniffing mission next week, will try to remember to look for the room sprays. I’m going to look for the new Écrin de Fumée scent.
Pretty sure that WS & SS is full points, fwiw.
I am wearing CdG 8 88 which I somehow thought of as “herby.” What it is rather is heavy on spices (coriander, saffron, turmeric. Oh well.
So who will be watching the coronation this weekend? I have a friend who plans to get up at 2 a.m. here to watch the whole ceremony. I’m mildly curious but certainly not like that!
About to go out for Chinese lunch with a friend. She is bribing me so I will go over to her house and help her improve a PowerPoint she’s working on.
I hope you enjoy your lunch and get through the PowerPoint. I am not a monarchist, and yet I am a bit torn as I am pretty sure that this is the only coronation ( besides the coronation of the Maori king, Te Arikinui Tūheitia Paki) that will happen in my lifetime so I feel I should make an effort to watch it even though the whole thing grates on me.
BritBox is going to stream it live and also offer it on demand afterward, so I’m planning to watch it at some point this week, but there is no way I’ll wake up early for it!
I would have to be up at 5 AM my time, so probably not going to happen. Will likely watch a replay.
We have some British friend that live in our apartment building and inviting us over for afternoon tea – the kids are encourage to dress up too! I am making scones to bring over. So we will watch the re-runs at their place.
I’ll be watching; the time will be about right for this EDT Early Bird!
I would watch it but I don’t have a TV, maybe it will be livestreamed on youtube?
I have to work but will watch what I can.
I’m keen to see the highlights. I’m not an ardent monarchist, but I do like the sense of occasion and the history of it. However, it’s not the same with a king, part of the Queen’s appeal was her fabulous dresses from early in her reign – great swathes of beaded satin, my heart beats faster just thinking about that!
I am curious, but 5am is way too early for me. I will catch what I can later on.
NYTimes will livestream it. I’ve set my alarm for 8:45am Eastern…if I get up way earlier, I may watch parts of it.
I’m in the minority but I will probably ignore the whole thing on principle. (That’s all I’m saying 🙂 )
If there were interesting fashion, maybe I’d be sucked in, like I am with the Met Gala, but it’ll all be boring, dowdy dresses and hats. There’s great fashion in the UK but the royals never wear it. I’d be way more interested in watching the coronation of a Maori royal, actually :).
Wearing Costume Nationale 21 which is a warm spicy milk scent but does have sage, or clary sage. I was up early , around four, and went for a walk along our street. The moon is full so the light was silvery and all the trees cast long shadows. I heard a sound and noticed the neighbour’s cat following at a distance, but in its own way, as if not admitting to it or fully committing to the project. Orion overhead, no clouds, mild and the smell of leaves everywhere…crunchy now on the lawn, like cornflakes.
Sounds lovely! I watched the nearly full moon rise last night while sitting in my living room.
Beautiful description — makes me want to be there!
I am fighting a cold today, and can’t wait to get home. My sotd is Un Jardin Sur Le Toit. It has a rosemary note.
The grocery store by my house has put in a clearance section. They had a bunch of personal items for 75% off! I spent 25 dollars stocking up on toothpaste, mouthwash, shower gel, band aids and cold medicine. The regular total was 100 dollars! And none of the products were close to expiration. I think with the inflation they haven’t been moving inventory and just needed to make room.
Oh no, hope you feel better soon! Good score, yeah the inflation lately is crazy.
Hope you feel better soon! 💐
Hope you feel better soon! Congrats on that great haul.
I hope you feel better soon, a cold is a miserable thing.
Feel better soon!!!
Hope you manage to fight off the cold!
UGH, so sorry to hear that you have a @#$%&* cold! Sending you a virtual glass of Emergen-C.
Great score at the store! Hope you feel better soon, lillyjo.
Feel better soon, lillyjo. Great score on the personal items!
Sorry about the cold, but isn’t it wonderful when you find those sales? We had one about a year ago, when a local grocery store changed to a new loyalty program. For whatever reason, they had to have a fire sale on current inventory (I’ve never figured that out as they were owned by the same company before and after and they just brought their loyalty program in line with the corporate program). I still have stuff in the pantry that I got cheap there!
Friday!
Payday!
Cinco de Mayo in Los Angeles Day!
Get my yellow fever vaccine day!
Perfectly timed so should I have a reaction, tomorrow requires nothing of me but watching all things coronation from my sofa.
SOTD is Indochine – because….Indochine!
The best reason for Indochine! I hope your reaction is zero to mild.
Robin, thinking of you and your son. Sending strength.
Like kanuka, this coronation is likely to be the only one I’ll see in my lifetime so I will watch a bit, probably not all of it. I am a big fail at the CP this week, I don’t have a lot of perfumes here so I’m at a disadvantage. Doing my best with Angel Muse, for the patchouli. At least I’ve got a leafy plant.
Are you on vacation?
I’m guessing she’s at her place in Hawaii. 🙂
Thank you so much foxbins!
And leafy plant is good enough 🙂
Hi all! I’m in Lush Pansy for the CP. Supposedly it has rosemary in it, but I can’t really tell.
It’s a beautiful, warm, sunny day here (finally), and the start of my three-day weekend! I have 0 plans. It’s gonna be great.
Sending lots of hugs your way Robin.
Gotta love a 3 day weekend. Beautiful here too!
Hooray for beautiful weather!
I didn’t notice the rosemary in Pansy, either. But you smell really good!
Why thank you!
Thanks socks, I need them!
I wasn’t sure what I was going to pick for the cp but then when I saw sage listed I knew what I would go with: Byredo De los Santos.
Last night’s concert was super fun but man am I dragging today. Seems that no matter what time I go to bed my body always gets me up at the same time.🥱 I’m sure I’ll sleep like a rock tonight.
Meeting some friends for drink(s) and dinner for cinco de mayo. It’s warm enough here that we might even be able to sit outside!🌞
Have fun tonight.
I have the same sleeping issue, cannot sleep past my regular wakeup time.
Fairly chilly, very grey, spitting rain. So I’m way off the CP and wearing SB Smoked Ambergris.
Here is one if my favorite renditions of this song. It’s an instrumental that I’ve loved since way back in the 90’s. Had this CD which I was able to add to my Apple Music library back in the day, but with each successive new phone, I’ve lost music and this album also disappeared into the ether. 😭
Oops! Forgot the link 🙄
https://youtu.be/nGdIg_IcYSU
I had never heard that, thanks Deva!
I carried on with the Nicolai discovery set, Fig Tea, not really impressed by it l’Eau Mixte is superior I think and tonight I’m in Caligna, sage for the CP, a curious little perfume, sometimes all pine needles, sometimes fig, I always come back to it in the summer. Dear Robin, thank you for vaillantly providing a lovely CP.
Ha, I feel the same as you about Fig Tea! Unimpressed.
And Caligna I find so underrated. I’m looking forward to pulling it out this summer.
Glad people enjoyed it 🙂
For today’s cp, I’m wearing Wood Sage & Sea Salt, the only Jo Malone I really love – and I shouldn’t be surprised by now that for so many of my favorite scents Christine Nagel is the perfumer! Earlier this week I wore Givenchy Ange ou Demon for its thyme note, and stretching the cp a bit, Isabella Rossellini’s Manifesto which I love to wear in mid-summer when its basil note harmonizes with what’s growing in my herb garden.
It’s a glorious day here – blue skies, 🌞, and temps in the 70’s. Everything is green and blooming. The very cool weather we’ve had the past several weeks has kept the flowering shrubs blooming the longest I can remember. Our crabapple tree is totally covered in pink blossoms as is my redbud, and the pale pink blossoms of my Juddhi viburnum are just starting to fade but are still beautifully fragrant (I want a perfume that smells like them!)
It’s been a very busy week for me as so many of the activities that stopped during the pandemic have resumed- it’s exhilarating but exhausting! Our library’s book sale is this weekend and I’ll be working it after helping sort and set up this week. And I will try to turn a blind eye to all the things I saw that I want to bring home – I don’t need anymore stuff!
Lastly, I recently learned that a male friend loves the scent of oud. I don’t know if he’s a fragrance person but I’d like to surprise him with a sample he might enjoy, so if you have a recommendation for a great oud scent, please advise!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead. 🌹🪻🌷🌳
For your oud-loving friend, how about a bit of TF Oud Wood?
Thanks! I’ll check it out; I’ve never smelled it.
I wasn’t sure if I would participate, we are packing for the house move and I already secured all my perfume bottles, but as luck would have I just looked at a box standing on top and it’s the one with my stash of Providence Perfume Co perfumes, including my big time favorite, Tangerine Thyme. I sprayed my wrist generously and I am wafting it strongly on Robin’s behalf. Next to it was a bottle of what I was planning to wear last week, Irisque, so I added a spritz of that. They mesh together nicely: citrus cologne with a note of summer meadows from Tangerine Thyme and hints of horse stable and leather from Irisque, a mix that would be appropriate for a fair, I think.
That sounds like a perfect pairing for a fair!
Good luck with your move.
Best of luck with your move!
Oh yay, so glad someone wore it in real life!
Very good luck with the move.
Scents of Wood Bread in Chestnut 🥖🌰
I really did not want to get up this morning. Two months later, I don’t think I can blame daylight savings but I want to. ehaeheh 😉 It was cool and overcast w/ some light rain though. Blame it rain then as they sometimes say… it was finally fallin’…. 😁
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI5IA8assfk
Ha!👍
Well, I’m feeling much brighter this morning, much less of the foggy head, so your good wishes yesterday must have worked 🙂
I haven’t caught up with the CP this week, I’m not a huge fan of fresh herby perfumes, but I know that there are herb notes in any number of things I love.
I’ve been testing the Manos Gerakinis samples that I got with my purchase of Sillage Royal and, wouldn’t you know it, I really like Quintessence, and it’s way more expensive than the others. Post-shower, I think I’ll test that one some more.
Glad you’re feeling better! Of course you like the most expensive one the most ;).
Is it worth finding a store with his perfumes (it sounds like it is?). I’ll be in Athens and Santorini this summer, and it seems I could try them in either place (though Ockeghem Teen will protest being dragged to a store 🙂 ).
So glad you are on the mend!
Happy friday, everyone!
I’m so glad the weekend is almost here, I’ve had a very taxing week at work. This has been a very fun CP! I learned that sage and clary sage are very different. And that I have way more scents with clary sage. I also realized that while rosemary is very strong to me in cooking and even in walking by the bush outside my house, I don’t detect it much in perfumes with a rosemary note.
I had a migraine this morning, and am commando, I think I’ll just join the rest of you in spirit, herbally!
Robin, I’ll be thinking of you this weekend. I hope everything goes as you wish it to be.
Commando twins, but for different reasons.
Thank you so much tulipani.
CP-compliant in Carthusia’s A’mmare, which has a nice rosemary note. I do have other fragrances that would have worked, with more of the herbs from Scarborough Fair (a favorite song), but A’mmare was at hand.
Thinking of you and your family this weekend, Robin.
Thank you Old Herbaceous.
Commando twins with Robin today. I had a dermatologist appointment, and then I went to both Lowe’s and Home Depot for paint swatches. Didn’t bother putting on perfume after I got home.
However, I had both LUSH Pansy and Gucci Eau de Parfum (aka, clear bottle, brown juice) in mind for this CP. I had a lot more choices than I initially thought I’d have. But those 2 were top of the list.
Tomorrow night is supposed to be a Full Moon here.
Teflon is still acting like her normal self today, for those interested.
Good for you on many counts. What colors were you thinking and for which rooms?
About half the rooms will have the same colors, or as close as I can get. That’s the easy part. Painters can match colors on walls.
I’ve got a color picked for the upstairs bathrooms and the home office. Also have colors picked for trim, doors, and ceilings.
Hard part will be picking colors for the laundry room, guest bedroom, and master bedroom. I might have to go back for more swatches…
Does acting normal mean that she is ok? Sure hope so.
She was running around earlier today, wanting me to play fetch.
Awww!!! Sweet!!!!
Yes I hope that means Teflon kitty is doing well!
Tef hasn’t seen the vet yet. I’m hoping that there will be an open appointment next week.
👍👍😻
I just got caught up with yesterday’s posts now. Sending healing kitty vibes to Teflon kitty from my three 😻😻😻!
Thank you Laila, and thanks to your 3 kittehs.
Eek! Hope Teflon is ok. And you, too. 💜
I love paint swatches almost as much as I love perfume and new clothes 🙂
I’m in Jicky today, for a variety of reasons. ‘Nuf said. Happy, happy Friday, my NST friends. 🙌🏻
I hope you’re feeling better!
I am feeling better. Thank you, hajusuuri! 🤗
SOTD = Dior Feve Delicieuse
Tonka and vanilla, what a great combination!

To continue my rant from yesterday, … when you’re sending out a document for review by over 100 people (first of all, why?), you must do a read through to fix really simple mistakes. Case in point, May 3 was a Wednesday and NOT Tuesday. How could you have a document with four page 15? And these are not even the worst and the authors claimed to have worked with experts? And one more thing, if I sent you an email with 10 items to fix back in mid-April, and I’ve had 2 prior meetings with you, do not tell me that you have not even contacted your counterparts to make the updates, TODAY! For crying out loud, it is due next Friday with a meeting with a senior manager required. 🤬
OMG, why for a 100 person review indeed?!
100? Did anyone read it?
Grrr. I hate incompetence.
LT Piver A La Rein des Fleurs and because I have 14.25 oz I can spray lavishly. I poured it into my 6.8 oz empty bottle of Orange Sanguine which I washed and removed the label. Did the same with my empty bottle of Patchouli Riviera which was 3.4 oz. I will use that one to pour my 14.25 oz of Heliotrope Blanc which I plan on using in the Fall.
Oh and I can check off three boxes… sage, rosemary and thyme. This cologne reminds me of a combo of 4711 and Old Spice…. Successful blind buy.
Oh, that sounds so nice! Love your way of re-using bottles, too.
The Atelier Cologne bottles are perfect for recycling!!
Went a different route on CP. Apparently the herbs mentioned in Scarborough Fair had all sorts of associations in the Middle Ages. For example, sage was thought to enhance life span and perhaps even bestow immortality. Thyme was associated with mysticism. Some theorize that the herbs mentioned were ingredients of a love potion brewed by witches, so I went with that, choosing Black Magic by Sebastiane. Witchy woman.
Do tell more about Black Magic! Is it a chypre?
Well, it’s not as dark and witchy as I’d hoped. Starts out with tonka and amber, then introduces berries and rose, some florals and grassy notes. Hint of leather at the end, which is the best part, to me. Wanted more mystery, something edgier, a bit spooky.
Well thought out CP points!
Was fun learning more about this very old and lovely song!
Excellent!
Happy Friday! I spent all week rummaging through decades of samps—seriously decades, I found Bagutta Life samples, Dinner by Bobo, CdG Wood Coffee (why oh why won’t they bring this one back?)—and determined I had nothing at all CP compliant. And then, I looked through the extra samples a generous swapmeet swapper sent recently and found Bottega Veneta Parco Palladiano V: Lauro – success! All in with the Sage and the Rosemary. Very pleasant. Very discontinued.
My sample of Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel is definitely over a decade old. 🙂
Durga today- probably not cp compliant, but I love this. I see that Fath perfumes is releasing a 4 ml sample of their Iris de Fath, for 85 euros, (which looks to be around 93 or 95 dollars) no VAT, to the US, but I have no idea what the shipping would be. I am consumed by curiosity! If anyone would be interested is splitting this with me, email me at my user name at gmaile, and maybe we can work something out.
Loving it is more important than the cp 🙂
Hi, Robyn, my thoughts are with you during the difficult and unexpected transition.
Thanks meredifay.
Just wanted to stop in and wish you well, Robin.
Oh, thank you so much AnniePerfumes!
