Happy Friday and happy Pan American Day! (Also, National Dolphin Day and Loretta Lynn's birthday.) Our community project for today: wear a perfume named for a place in North or South America, with bonus points for places that aren't New York City.
What fragrance did you pick? As always, do chime in with your scent of the day even if you’re not participating in the community project.
It is too warm here for Tauer Lonestar Memories (and I could not find my Atelier Cologne Clémentine California or J Lo Miami Glow), but thanks to a last minute burst of inspiration, I'm taking bonus points in Ineke Idyllwild. (In case it helps anyone, I almost went with Strange Invisible Perfumes Magazine Street; I'm all out of Florida Water or that would have been another contender.) Apologies for again picking what turned out to be a difficult project. Next week is easy peasy.
Reminder: on 4/21, wear a spring floral, or any fragrance that makes you think of spring.
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but usually fail) to have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

Wearing Shalimar EdC, for Shalimar town in Okaloosa County, Florida. I had not reached my bottle in a long time, so I had forgotten how cozy it is.
Another warm and pleasant day in the mid 80’s. I am so glad it is finally Friday. It has been a very long and tough week at work.
Happy Friday! 🌞
Happy Friday!
👋🏻🌞
Great CP tie-in! Happy Friday back atcha.
Thank you, Ringthing!
The EdC is one of my favorite formulations. You smell great!
Thank you, LizzieB! The EdC is also one of my favorite formulations. Very easy to wear!
Happy Friday! You smell great! The edc version is the only one I really like.
Thank you, Laila! I also love the EdT and EdP.
ITA about this week being a long one. Uff da!
I am so glad is over!
Arcadia by Hiram Green. Drained my sample, but I don’t think I need a bottle. A beautiful natural fougere, but something is rubbing me the wrong way… tonka?
The first 70 degree day today. We made it, team!
Woo-hoo! Enjoy your weather!🌞
Ah, great choice for the CP!
I don’t know Ardcadia but tonka can rub me the wrong way too.
Hi all!
I just wanted to give a quick update on my life. In May, we will return to Ukraine. On the plus side, it is much safer there now compared to last year. On the minus side, our rent in Sweden ends in May and I will soon lose my job in the current project. So I cannot afford living abroad.
I hope we will be fine.
Try to put one foot in front of the other. My prayers are with you
Thanks for checking in, Glannys. As always, best wishes to you and your mom & kitty.
Praying that all will work out well. Smooth travels and easy path!
I’m very glad you feel you can go home, although it’s a somewhat forced choice by the job and money situation. Which part of Ukraine are you from or will you be living in? We will definitely hope to hear from you then on how things are.
I live in Kyiv region, near Kyiv.
I will pop in now and then. You guys always feel me make better. 😍
Wishing you and your family the best Glannys!
It’s always so good to get an update from you! I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything will go smoothly for you and your family.
Best wishes for an uneventful journey back for you, mom and kitty! Thanks for the update.
Great to hear the update, and good luck for the move home! Fingers crossed that all goes well.
My best wishes to you, your mom and your kitty. You are in my prayers.
Hope everything will turn out well.
Wishing you and mom and kitty peace and good fortune when you return home. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Sending positive vibes and 🤗🤗🤗.
Good to see you here Glannys!
Hoping for brighter days for you and your family!
🌹🤗✌🏻
Sending you prayers for a safe return home and a speedy end to the war.
Be safe, and be well as you, your Mom, and your sweet kitty make the return trip. Hugs.
Very good luck on the move back home, Glannys. Do check in again when you can!
Thank you for this update; I wish you the very best as you take this next step in a very difficult life journey. Be safe and well, as best you can!
Godspeed, Glannys! ❤️
Thank you everyone! 💗💗❣
I’m in Vilhelm’s Harlem Bloom from a sample. My sample is actually labeled 125th & Bloom, not sure when they changed the name.
If I had planned ahead, I would have gotten a sample of Eau de Wisconsin from a local perfumer to try, but alas, I did not.
It’s another gorgeous record setting day here, we should hit 80!🌞 Then cold and possibly snow by Sunday night. Welcome to spring in Wisconsin lol. I’m off today and was thinking about getting a pedicure. I may wait with the changing temps. Either way I’m going to switch things up this year and stray from my standard I’m Not Really a Waitress I’ve been wearing for years to Chanel Vamp. Fun fact, apparently this was the color Uma Thurman wore in Pulp Fiction.
Happy Friday!😎
Whoa what would Eau de Wisconsin smell like, I wonder? I’d be disappointed if it didn’t have a dairy note, haha.
Enjoy your day off!
LOL, yes, a CHEESE note, specifically!
Yes!! Sharp cheddar please!
Perhaps Calypso could layer it with Zoologist Cow.🤪
Making a point to get out and have an outside lunch with a friend today. I was working inside most of this beautiful week, unfortunately. We are just getting sandwiches and will sit outside somewhere.
If you hit any film festival showings, BOLO for a man with white hair and black glasses….he’s heading down soon.
Snow possible here Monday. It’s been a great week though!🌞
NJ hit 90 yesterday and moi is not happy because too hot too soon! Enjoy your weather while you can.
Eau de Wisconsin?? I can’t even imagine what notes would be in it!
Sampling DSH Open Space No. 1::Boulder Colorado. It’s rainy today so maybe I should have gone for Seattle Chocolate instead
Do tell what DSH Open Space No. 1 is like, please!
Bright, woody, airy with a tinge of floral
I’d love to see a How Local Can You Go project –wear something from your city, state or country
CP-compliant in Molinard Habanita, a seductive unisex oriental. (It’s actually named after a person, sort of: Habanita means “girl from Havana”. Near enough, though.)
You smell wonderful!
Nice scent, and thanks for the fun fact!
Definitely near enough!
Bond No 9 Tribeca-I smell great
I don’t get extra bonus points, BUT NYC is the center of the world lol
https://www.nypl.org/events/exhibitions/galleries/visual-world/item/11281
Perspective is everything, isn’t it?
😛
Only the best city, but I may be biased 😛
yes…
OMG I have been checking in to NST several times a day for the last few days . .. WAITING for you to comment. I wanted to share this podcast with you, which in fairness I haven’t listened to. But when I saw, I knew just who needed to know. <3
https://www.lrb.co.uk/podcasts-and-videos/podcasts/the-lrb-podcast/mary-renault-s-worldbuilding?utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20230412blog2&utm_content=20230412blog2+CID_801fc8836ff231a51e5a9960b32681b0&utm_source=LRB%20email&utm_term=Podcast%20Mary%20Renaults%20Worldbuilding%20with%20Miranda%20Carter%20and%20Thomas%20Jones
OMG!!!!
Thank you! wow! Can’t wait to listen
Of course it is! That’s why it can’t get you extra bonus points 😉
I chose Mojave Ghost for the CP. According to Wikipedia, the Mojave is the driest portion of the southwestern US desert … which is interesting because there is a juicy aspect to MG’s opening. Happy Friday everyone!
I love that Byredo
I grew up near the Mojave desert (one mountain range over to the west). The Mojave Creek could be mistaken for the runoff from a leaking fire truck. I’ve never tried Mojave Ghost myself, but I’m not too sure what a “juicy” note would be doing there…
CP compliant but no extra points in PdN New York. It smells great on another warm sunny day. I could get used to this but it will cool off over the weekend.
You get extra points in my book 🙂
Almost twins!
Thanks for mentioning Dior Dune yesterday!
I’m wearing Marfa by Memo. For those of you who may not know, Marfa is a small town in West Texas, known for the Marfa Lights (think UFOs), and its thriving artistic community. If tuberose is your thing, Marfa (the scent) has them in plenty.
Oh, I have that one and didn’t think of it! I really like it, being a tuberose fan.
I’m in Rainbow Bar baby! Inspired by a comment of Robin’s yesterday.
Oh perfect!! Good thinking.
California Reverie to accompany another gorgeous sunny day. Today & tomorrow will be lovely, but rain on Sun & possible flurries on Mon, ugh.
And now for something completely different, Breville’s come out with some countertop appliances featuring Aboriginal designs. They’re quite striking, can picture in a southwestern or California kitchen:
https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/breville-smart-kettle-luxe-electric-kettle?ID=4486467&CategoryID=3865
Love that Breville..but not the price
Very nice!
Oh my, what a lovely toaster.
Very lazy choice because it was right in front of me. VC&A California Rêverie, which also works well on a warm spring day.
Rain all weekend and temperature drop. Sigh….
They changed the forecast here too, rain rain go away.
Good morning! I am in a sample of Chanel Boy (thanks tulipani!). No CP points for me, unless Boy is short for Boylston, MA? I’m trying 😛
It’s a lovely fougere, and the powdery notes really pops on my skin, making it a cozy wear. Very easy to wear…surely I don’t need another Chanel Les Exclusifs? 🙂
You’ll probably do well in the swapmeet!
Depends on how hard said Les Exclusifs is ringing your perfumed bell!
I’m in Papillon Salomé for the town of the same name is AZ. I trundled through it many times when I was headed for some desert camping. Not a single stop light and if you blink, you’ve already passed it. 😎
So thankful it’s Friday. Sheesh, it has been very, very busy! 🐝
Sounds like my kind of town!
I love small towns, but the derelict and defunct ones make me very sad. Usually, they are decorated with huge trash heaps of abandoned cars, buses, RV’s, bathtubs, refrigerators, washing machines- you name it. There’s probably a body or two buried under all that junk.
Well, fwiw, I wouldn’t want to live in a town called Salomé. 😁
It is a bit dusty and tired like most small towns in America these days. Really, it kind of breaks my heart to see so many small towns across the country dry up and cave in. Not somewhere I would want to be either, generally speaking, although it did tickle me whenever I passed through. I often thought of stopping in front of the town sign and taking a photo with my bottle but ultimately laziness overcame me. In 2010 the population was around 1150, so there’s that….
Hey Deva, what do you think of Salome? Luckyscent went on about shockingly animalic, dirty florals, erotic classicism… but on me it seemed pretty bland. Wonder if I got an old sample? How is it on you?
I don’t find it skanky, much. 😉 Everyone’s tolerance is different so this is one I would say to definitely sample first.
I was just about to ask something similar to what BalletBetz posted. Salome the perfume has a reputation as being a skank-fest. IIRC, it was a gigantic NOPE for hajusuuri.
Hajusuuri and I have some similar tastes except when it comes to skank. Somewhere in the middle of her experience and mine lies the absolute truth. It’s like perfume physics. 🙃
What a cool theme! I expect to see lots of interesting choices. Two picks from me. I am wearing Chaparral by Roxana Illuminated Perfume, an all natural solid perfume which “celebrates the aromatic landscape of California”. It’s a beautiful sage, incense and woods scent. Just in California, chaparral covers close to 9% of the state surface. Do I get extra points for covering such vast area of North America..? I am topping it off with a spritz of Sedona Sweet Grass by Providence Perfume Co, also all natural, named after a city in Arizona, since these two perfumes share a distinct sage note, though they are quite different; SSG has a bit of a boozy gourmand feel, thanks to mezcal notes combined with piñon pine, sweet grass, sage and vetiver.
Ha, should have checked and made the edit: chaparral comprises “9% of California’s wildland vegetation”. And I see some people are wearing California themed scents, so way ahead of me!
Sounds divine! I love the smell of sage and sweetgrass, I shall have to look those perfumes up. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve not tried either of those but both sound intriguing. Somehow the thought of the California chaparral reminded me of being in the desert in southern Arizona. There was the most wonderful smell there. I think it was from all the jojoba bushes. That made me wonder if there’s a perfume along these lines that includes jojoba? It’s such a striking smell.
Mezcal, pinon, and vetiver sound like a great combination!
Totally forgot the PPC Sedona Sweet Grass! Nice.
Happy Friday!
Joining AnnE in Paris! Paris, Texas that is.
Twins!
💕
Hi all! I’m in Highland Lilac of Rochester today. I’ve never been to Rochester, NY (just the one in Minnesota!), but I’d definitely go for a lilac festival! This perfume has an odd fruity note to it that I don’t like (green apple, maybe?), but I love the scent of real lilacs. None of them around here are blooming yet, but they probably will in a few weeks.
Happy weekend everyone! I’ll be working, but at least the weather will be worse so I won’t feel like I’m missing something!
I’m supposed to get a bit of much needed rain here this weekend.
I am wearing Gallivant Istanbul, couldn’t find anything else for the CP and preparing myself for the perfume event tonight with the Gallivant perfumer. I don’t know if he has one named after cities in US .
I think there is one named Brooklyn.
And one named Los Angeles!
Have fun!
I’m in a dab of Shalimar Ode…Mexique. Thanks to galbanumgal for the idea! I really couldn’t come up with much for this CP. I have a sample of New York Intense, and thought of Jersey in case of an emergency, but that feels like cheating. So I’m happy to dig out this old sample of Mexique and I’m wearing it next to an equally old sample of Shalimar Madagascar. I honestly can’t detect that much of a difference. 😬
Have a wonderful weekend, all!
You smell fantastic tulipani, and hope your weekend matches!
Did you know there is a Harvest, Georgia and a Harvest, Alabama? Me neither, but thanks to Google now I know there are such places. I’m wearing Givenchy Harvest Mimosa for the synch. I wanted to wear it quite badly so I had to find a way!
Gotta love a good perfume to CP retrofit!
Excellent.
That’s exactly how I found Corsica TX and PA. First make your choice of perfume and then see how you can shoehorn it into the CP! 🙃
I put on a dab of Paris this morning for Paris, Texas, and to play twins with allo. 🤗 Only a dab because it’s 87F here, and not perfect Paris-wearing weather. 🥵
I had initially planned on wearing Charenton Macerations’ Christopher Street, but it’s way too hot for that one, too.
After reading all the great comments, it finally hit me – I’ll wear KM Canyon Dreams. It’s got a beautiful, big, juicy orange opening and settles into a light, ambery base. California certainly has inspired a lot of fragrances!
HAGW, all!!
It’s either New York or California, for the most part.
Wearing Lonesome Rider today since I was drawing a blank for the CP.
And you smell great!
When the list of the current FCPs rolled in, I felt quite sure I wouldn’t be able to participate with anything suitable. Luckily, just in time for today I discovered that Cozumel is actually an island off the coast of Mexico …
Gosh, yet another one I did not think of.
I’m in PdN New York Intense today. No extra points, but oh well. My only other option outside of Lonestar Memories (which I wore earlier in the week) is Smell Bent The Yard Next Door…which for me is in North America. 🙂
Scent cousins, for sure! How intense is NY Intense compared to the original?
I’ve never actually smelled the original. I should remedy that.
It’s lemony spicy, good for transitional months.
Intense also has the citrus and spice. I really love it — pretty much good year round.
SOTD = Christian Dior Dune EDT
Vintage, only vintage…. Thanks to ringthing, I can claim that this is inspired by Bear Dune! Extra points for excluding New York.
I don’t have an IG post yet on it but did put one up just now of something else:
https://www.instagram.com/p/CrBfkK5L58e/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
In other news, as much as I like saying that I am a somewhat adventurous eater, I get stuck in a food rut once I like something. Case in point: I like poke bowls and they have to look and taste a certain way (don’t ask). Over the last year, the poke bowl underwent an ingredients transformation, at least temporarily. What begun as a list of ingredients I don’t want (fish skin, onion, preserved ginger, broccoli, mango) now has the list longer than what’s in it. Yesterday, I decided to switch things around and said going forward, I only want x list and I just rattled off what I want. No more surprises, I hope 🤞!
You smell wonderful, happy Friday.
Thanks to you of course for the idea!
Vintage Dune is a true masterpiece. Along with vintage Fahrenheit, from the same era and by the same perfumer. I have quite a collection of Dune including the parfum, mostly because I think the scent, the bottle and the advertising campaign create a mood that is quite unlike anything else in recent memory. I also like to wear a bit of when I have a beach or summer theme party to attend. Not that this happens very often!
It is indeed beautiful. I have 2 bottles of the EDT. I imagine the Parfum must be sublime!
I may actually bring this one on my historic coasts cruise although my BIL with the faux sensitivity will be there as well.
What on earth is a poke bowl?I’ve never heard of it!
It’s like sushi in bowl form, rather than rolls. It’s a Hawaiian thing originally.
What jalapeño said !
Hiya Scent Twin! w00t w00t!
Woohoo! Rare indeed!
You smell amazing!
Thank you, lillyjo!
And here’s my post on Dune!
https://www.instagram.com/p/CrCLFVluUU4/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
I was so sure I was all set for the extra CP points with Crabtree & Evelyn Savannah Gardens, but turns out I do not have SG, I have Somerset Meadow, which I know is named for Somerset in England not Massachusetts (even tho C&E was a MA company). So I went with Chris Collins Harlem Nights. No extra points but I smell delicious
Smelling good is the name of the game, especially on a hot day like today.
I brought out my bottle of Laura Biagiotti Venezia and sure enough there is one ghost town of that name in Arizona.
Tonight I’m in Caron Montaigne because it was located near my bottle of Venezia and I haven’t worn it in ages. It smells great I must say and the perfumes smell not dissimilar, floral, fruity ambers both of them, Montaigne – I think – is the best of the two.
Or you could have mentioned The Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas! It’s pretty amazing with a lot of actual canals with gondoliers inside weaving their way among the various nice shops there. Kind of fun.
It sounds great, thank you, had no idea there was such a place in LV.
It’s gorgeous sensory overload.
For the CP win, Oscar de la Renta Santo Domingo! A wonderful scent by Calice Becker, who was also the nose for the other delightful fragrances in OdlR’s “Essential Luxuries” collection. I have a travel spray set of them, and an FB of Coralina. One of the travel spray sets is on Ebay. These came out almost 10 years old, but are worth taking a chance on. In a further shameless attempt to get an enabler badge: Luckyscent is having a free shipping weekend, samples included.
Oh very perfect, great call MossyBerry.
Wearing the only frag in my collection that fits the CP theme without any convoluted creating reasoning, which is PPC Sedona Sweetgrass.
In other news, this is now the end of my second week of retirement. I have been feeling as if I won the jackpot. I probably won’t have quite as much money as when I was working, but I now have an abundance of the most precious commodity in the world, which of course is time.
*creative*, not creating.
I’ve been retired 10 years and it has been glorious. Wishing you the same!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Good to see you!
Congrats, and nice to see you post!
I have been rather absent from this site. Part of it is that the more time I spend here, the more tempted I am to add to my already too large perfume collection. I am trying to be on no buy/low buy mode for a while until I sort out the retirement finances and sort through all the stuff I already have. I need to get rid of a LOT, and figure out what to sell, what to donate, and what to trash. The idea is that I will only buy essentials–mostly groceries, pet supplies, and gas. I can buy anything I need to maintain normal life, such as a new battery or tires for a car, if the need arises. I can also buy experiences, such as movie tickets, admission to a museum, etc., but all the other things I tend to buy too much of (perfume, clothes, books, jewelry) are out of consideration for now.
Congratulations! I plan to join you in retirement at the end of this summer. Can’t wait!
Enjoy every minute of your “no longer working for the man” time! You have nailed my exact retirement plan- very low overhead and very modest purchasing. I’m very “perfume euvolemic” and enjoying my balanced state of perfume stasis! Sure, I’m tempted at times, but not overly much any more. Having said that, I’m really wanting to take a historical tour over in Europe. Don’t even know if such a thing exists, but I would love to embark and a two or three week journey through time. 🏰 Here’s to hoping your perfume declutter brings you great memories as you sniff through all your scents. ✌🏼
If you’re willing to shell out the $s, anything is possible. My SIL arranged for a personal group tour of China on year and another one for Taiwan. I don’t even think it’s all that expensive unless you want the Sam e person to travel with you to all the places.
Yeah, dollars 💸 …
I did do a great trip with Smithsonian Journeys way back in 2009 which I loved. I like that they have experts in the field that lead the trips so you learn a lot. And they do have some great trips to Europe, including my to die for trip to the Dordogne River region that focuses on archeological human habitation of the area…one day, maybe!
It’s not that hard to organize something like that on your own, depending on what your historical interests are. The expensive part is flying over, but once you get there you can get cheap hops if you don’t mind budget airlines like RyanAir. Or, if you have more budget, there are the river cruises (Viking), which seem to pick up a lot of highlights but aren’t something we’re old enough to be able to try yet (they don’t take kids). We see them unloading into Würzburg or Regensburg, though — both beautiful and very historic cities. (In Regensburg you get Roman history as well as Holy Roman Empire and biconfessional history, plus it’s a beautiful city.)
I don’t mind being cheap, but traveling solo is usually more expensive than as a couple/family. I’ve been in a couple of cruises and learned they aren’t really for me as I find them too confining. But SO MUCH in Europe I’d love to explore, it would be hard for me to narrow it down. Even researching it seems a bit overwhelming…😅
Great to see you back! Congrats on your retirement!
Going for extra points sampling Altaia’s Atacama, named for the high-altitude South American desert considered one of the driest spots on earth. How dry, you ask? NASA tested Mars landing equipment there. How dry?? Some spots supposedly haven’t had rain in 500 years! 😳 But when there IS a small amount of rain, the Atacama blooms… hence the perfume. The fragrance introduces florals (supposedly there’s jasmine and freesia but I don’t get those in particular) over salty and dry, woody notes. And there’s some desert-y sage going on. To my nose, it’s nice but not memorable, not something I’d wear on the regular. So taking one for the CP team with this one. 😜 (Tonight planning to try Marissa Zappas’ Lilac Dreams.)
That’s Lilac Dream, not Dreams.
The perfume sounds exotic, what a pity it’s not way more intriguing!
The Atacama is on my bucket list. Tho maybe the perfume isn’t. 🙂
For today’s cp, I’m wearing one of my favorite springtime scents, the long d/c C&E Sonoma Valley, a light green, fresh fruity floral (fig, mimosa, nectarine, grape leaves). ❤️
My SOTD always reminds me of that beautiful area of California I was fortunate to visit twice. The first time was a wine country tour of Napa/Sonoma, the highlight of which (besides the 🍷!) was the hot air balloon ride at dawn over the valley on a clear autumn day – I will never forget the incredible feeling of oneness with the universe that came over me, truly my idea of what Heaven is like! On our second trip to the area, we stayed in the charming village of Healdsburg for several days in the home of a friend who was out of town. Not only did we have the home to ourselves, we also had our very own house cat and a rooster who lived next door who felt it was his neighborly duty to awaken us at dawn each morning! One of our most unique vacation experiences! 🐔
We’ve had lots of 🌞 and summer-like temps all week, but it’s a little weird and a bit scary. It’s 81 degrees as I write this. So many shrubs and trees and flowers have literally burst into bloom in what seems record time I wonder what will be left! The plant I saw this morning sitting quietly is fully opened just a few hours later, especially noticeable in our tulips, which go from totally closed to fully open and almost drooping in less than a day. We’re supposed to cool off later this weekend and get back closer to normal, with temps in the 60’s, not 80’s. I hope🤞.
Looking forward to our first White Sox game of the season tomorrow before the rain and change of weather arrive later that nite. I hope everyone here can look forward to a great weekend ahead!
Enjoy your baseball game! ⚾
Love Sonoma, have not been in years though.
I am wearing Bond No. 9 Chinatown. My bottle must be pretty old, though I can’t date it exactly, at least 10 years and probably more. For awhile the sprayer was stuck and it didn’t work. I couldn’t manage to fix it but saved it for the beautiful bottle design. I took it out this morning to check and wow, it sprayed just fine, and still smells the same as I remember! Kind of creamy lactonic, floral, and really spicy. The cardamom note definitely stands out for me. After a few hours it’s calmed down some and yet still has that rather intoxicating and unusual spice note. So no CP extra points although I could argue that most big cities in North America do have a Chinatown–Vancouver, San Francisco, even us in Houston.
Speaking of which, I went to lunch yesterday with a nice young Chinese grad student who is doing a dissertation in philosophy at Rice, and she took me to a Chinese restaurant that was new to me. It was so good! And they had cuisines from various parts of China, indicated nicely by a map in the front of their large menu. I”m definitely going to go back there, and soon! I can’t wait to try some of their noodle dishes and dumplings.
Yay for your Chinatown bottle mysteriously fixing itself!
Do you remember the name of the restaurant? My husband and I wandered into a Chinese restaurant in the Chinatown section of Houston once. We had a bit of a shock when we realized that the menu was entirely in Chinese, with no English translation. We had to ask our waitress for some help in ordering. The food was very good, and surprisingly inexpensive.
You likely stumbled upon great Chinese food!
Mmm…yummy Chinese restaurants! Yay for friends in the know!
No points in Amouage Beloved, but I do smell fantastic.
Happy weekend all!✌🏻🌹🌞
I was curious if there was amybe a place in the US named “Beloved”,but alas!
I did however come accross this fabulous article about the 55 most beautiful little towns in the US,worth a scroll!
https://www.architecturaldigest.com/gallery/most-beautiful-small-towns-in-america
Thanks for posting this, will definitely refer to it in my travels. I’ve been to 12 that I can remember – Cape May, Rehoboth Beach, Houghton, Mystic, Galena, Stowe, Bailey’s Harbor, Carmel-by-the-Sea, Lake Geneva, Grand Marais, Sedona, and Stockbridge. Only 43 more to go!
Oh wow! That’s wonderful!I hope you get to see the other 43!🙌🏻🙌🏻
What an interesting article! I’ve been to Madison, GA, Nashville, IN, and Ketchum, ID. Agree all are beautiful. I need to add some of the New England towns to my bucket travel list for sure.
I’ve been to most if not all of the New England towns on that list and they are in fact beautiful! Well worth visiting.
I would love to vist all of them!Seems visually much more appealing than the big bad cities!
I will check this out later. I already know my town isn’t on the list! Lol
Haha!Whereabouts are you if I may ask?
I’ve been to Cape May NJ, Rehoboth DE, Ketchum ID, Stowe VT, Leadville CO, Saint Augustine FL, possibly McCall ID, and maybe Manzanita OR. Those last two would have been around 40 years ago on a family vacation.
Fantastic!
I need to find a similar list for South Africa, and start driving!🙌🏻🙌🏻
I have been to 10 of the towns in this list–St Francisville, LA; Mystic, CT; Ketchum ID; Deadwood, SD; Stowe, VT; Eureka Springs, AR; McCall, ID; Kennebunkport, ME; Jackson, WY; and Stockbridge, MA. My family may have been to St Augustine FL on a family vacation many decades ago, but I don’t remember for sure and I certainly don’t remember any details of it. All of them are indeed beautiful. I have a personal connection to St Francisville, in fact, as my great-great-grandmother (my mother’s mother’s mother’s mother) was born there in 1854.
How fantastic that you can trace your family roots back that far!
Some of my family history are lost because of the great trek from the Netherlands via Kenia to South Africa by my grandparents on my Mom’s side.
I’m very fortunate in that regard as I have a good deal of information on my family tree, particularly on my mother’s side. Both my father’s mother and my mother’s aunt put together files on their respective family trees (back before the internet, when it was much more painstaking to gather up all that info) and gave copies out to family members. The one from my great aunt had info on my mother’s side of the family going back to great-great-great-great-great grandparents who immigrated from England in 1803. I also have in my possession actual physical artefacts; not only photos (including one of the aforementioned g-g-grandmother’s parents from around 1850), but things such as books that belonged to her, several silver spoons with the family name engraved on them, and so on.
The internet also makes it much easier than it used to be to find stuff–census, birth, marriage and death records, and so on, at least when they stayed in the same country. Family moving from one continent to another does complicate it a good deal. It also helps a great deal in my particular case because my family tree is full of really uncommon last names.
I’ve been to 21 of these! I’ve been to most of the New England towns, the West Coast towns, and a lot of the southern Midwest towns (IN, OH, IL, MI). I ran my one and only triathlon in Galena. Friday Harbor, WA is probably my favourite.
New England looks beautiful during Fall!
Wore Vamp a NY today.
Points for you Desirae!
Love that one and Olivia Giacobetti. You smell fabulous!
Perfume twins with hajusuuri in vintage Dune. My bottle is the EdT. But not location twins! I picked Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.
Still feeling a little off today. I had enough get up and go to take a much needed shower (blissful) and get a few groceries. I’ve been in Power Save Mode since getting back home. The temp on my vehicle’s dash said that it was 87 this afternoon. 🥵
*Waves* I hope you will soon feel again as wonderful as you smell! Read comments late yesterday and so it’s good to know you were back to your usual tricks today. 🙂 I hope Mr. J is doing well, too. 80 here today…
Mr. Jalapeno is feeling fine. His recovery for this shoulder seems to be going faster than the previous one did.
I am well hydrated today!
Wow! I just read your post from yesterday now. What a harrowing experience but I’m glad you both appear to be ok. Take it easy, relax and let that Power Save Mode build itself up. 🤗
Thanks Laila!
Just read your harrowing tale from yesterday – definitely take it easy until you feel much better!
That was quite the adventure, eh? I found out today that the EMT who took Mr. Jalapeno home yesterday had offered to give me a ride home from the hospital. But his shift ended before I was released.
What a good guy!
Definitely a First Class Mensch!
We also reached 87 here, but the temperature is dropping fast. We have 74 now. I am happy we are back to the 60’s tomorrow. I had started feeling a bit overwhelmed with the heat,
I hope you start feeling much better soon!
The EMTs who took me to the hospital said that they had just finished a call when they showed up to look at me. They were busy, and I bet the weather could have been a factor.
Mostly back to myself now. Just a little leftover fatigue.
Omgoodness Jalapeño, I just read your yesterday adventures and I’m so glad you are ok! Power save mode sounds like just the thing. Hope you and Mr Jalapeño can chill over the weekend.
I was feeling quite wilted after yesterday’s “Bogus Journey”! Been taking in extra fluids and a little bit of salt today.
I hope you can get a lot of rest this weekend!
I will try to keep things relaxed. But I have a load of laundry I will try to do tomorrow. They only get bigger if I ignore them.
Hey twinnnnn! Glad you’re feeling better!
According to my Apple watch which is stuck to my hometown, it got up to 91 degrees. Too hot too soon and I am glad for the coming cooler weather!
ITA for too hot too soon! I think that was part of yesterday’s problem…
What a day! Just catching up now. Glad everyone is okay, but definitely keep to low power mode for a while.
For sure something I’d rather not repeat. But thankful for first responders!
Hi all,
I’m in the joyous and very-easy-to-wear California Reverie. I love the pollen-ish essence that comes through after that burst of orange and jasmine!
That sounds lovely!
Received my dining room table and assembled it (bolting on the legs), very happy to no longer have to eat off a TV tray. I thought all the pieces were coming today but misunderstood, the bookshelf/console table and buffet should arrive in a week or so. Feeling nervous about assembling the bookcase, it took all the strength I had in my hands and some balancing work to assemble the table alone. Normally I would let my husband handle such jobs but he’s not here so I get to do it myself. 🙂 Wearing a bit of Fêtes Persanes today, since all I have is a bag of decants. The sprayer is broken so it was only a homeopathic dose unfortunately. Enjoying the lovely warm weather!
GO you for assembling that table! That’s awesome.
I would have thrown my hands up in the air as I am the least handy person. I would probably end up attached to the table if I did it myself!
Total CP fail here, but I smelled great! And that’s according to the supermarket cashier who checked out my shopping this morning — she called to me after I had started to walk away, and when I turned around, she smiled and said “You smell so nice!”. I was wearing the parfum version of 4160 Tuesdays’ Both Sides of Clouds, which I dearly love.
A perfume compliment, how nice.
Very nice. St. Cloud is a city in Florida AND it’s not New York. Double points for you!
Thank you, hajusuuri!
Not totally CP compliant but I am adding one letter, and VP Modest Mimosa becomes Modesto CA Mimosa. Lol. Mimosa is really appealing to me this spring
Lol! Works for me 👍
I am happy to be wearing Michael Kors Sexy Rio de Janeiro today.
I can’t complain about the weather, so instead I will complain about the Bees. There are way too many of them in the parking lot. I don’t know why. There is nothing around here but cement and wood chips. Maybe they are after my perfume!?
You’re sweet so yes, it must be you!
There is such a thing as carpenter bees. They chew holes in wood. I’d never heard of them before I moved to NJ.
Super late and haven’t commented all week due to being on vacation in Arizona, but I’m in D.S. & Durga Jazmin Yucatan for the CP. I really liked this theme! I also wore PPC Sedona Sweet Grass and Olympic Orchids Tucson (formerly named Arizona) this week. Hey, it worked out perfectly to pair two CP themed perfumes with where I was!
Hope it was a good vacation!! And so glad someone liked the cp 🙂
