It’s Almost-Friday, National Egg McMuffin Day and Dr Seuss Day (aka National Read Across America Day). More birthdays: Kurt Weill, Desi Arnaz, Tom Wolfe, Lou Reed, Karen Carpenter. What fragrance are you wearing?
I'm in Guerlain Cologne du 68.
Reminder: 3/3 is World Wildlife Day. This year's theme: Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation. Wear a fragrance from a brand making an effort in the arena of biodiversity protection (you should have plenty of choice).
And for those of you who like to plan ahead, see Scent of the day ~ Friday community projects 2023, where I'll try (but obviously sometimes fail) to always have the next five or six weeks mapped out in advance.

I just got back from getting my crown fixed. I was warned that eventually I would probably have to get an implant. Hopefully by then I will have won the lottery. 🤞
I also have a Doctor appointment this afternoon. I am wearing Ilio hair perfume in my hair and on my sweater.
Hope all goes well, lillyjo!
Thanks!
Are you getting the snow again tomorrow too?
Not expecting much snow, more freezing rain. The meteorologist said this morning that we gain 86 minutes of daylight in March, the most of any month, so that’s a nice thought. How about you, mainly snow tomorrow?
I’m supposed to get all snow. They haven’t decided on how much though. Somewhere between 4 and 12 inches. Lol.
I’ve definitely been enjoying the longer days.
Fingers crossed on that crown! I recently learned that I have a cracked molar, and may have to get it crowned which makes me anxious.
Thank you!
Honestly the worst part of the crown is the price.
Good luck!
Getting a crown was no big deal for me. Except, like lillyjo said, the $$$$$$$$$.
Beats having a root canal!
Good luck with EVERYTHING! Dentist, doctor and snow!!! Spring is coming.
Thank you!
Happy for you that they were able to repair your crown! Hoping you don’t have to go out in that snow headed your way. ❄️
I hope I don’t either.
I am in the process of getting an implant. I wish you success with the crown!
Good luck! Report back if you want on how it goes.
Will do. My tooth broke quite badly, so I had to have grafting, I go back in April to see if that “took” / healed well enough for the implant.
That’s a lot, lillyjo. Hope everything isn’t too painful. Lottery it is!
🤞AP!
So glad the crown was fixable even if temporary, also hope you feel better today after being under the weather.
Thanks Aurora. I got a prescription from the doctor so hope to be on the mend soon.
Glad to hear that your crown got fixed instead of replaced!
Your snow will become rain by the time it reaches me.
A good day to stay inside!
Oy lillyjo but great that your crown can be fixed.
Thanks hajusuuri.
I’m with you lillyjo. Spent several hours at dentist with cracked crown, have a temp in now.
We had the power go out 5 times this morning, I wasn’t sure I would even get car out of garage. It came back on, I ran like hell to the car and was commando the rest of the day.
Oh dang apsara!
I hope tomorrow is a better day for us both!
I’m wearing Civet today, my first Zoologist love. I would never think to combine tuberose and coffee but Shelley Waddington knows what she’s doing.
I love Civet so I know you smell wonderful!
Good morning!
In Stone & Wit’s Blackberry Heartwood from a traveling indie sample box. Lovely rosy, berry and musk to start the day. Tea is PG Tips black tea.
I pulled the trigger on Hermes Un Jardin a Cythere, will report back when it arrives! I never blind buy, but it is Christine Nagel and her work is always interesting even if I don’t want to wear it.
Do report back, please. I’ve seen this in a local shop …which is a perfume miracle…so would love to hear your take.
I’m wearing Bottega Veneta from my mini stash.
You smell wonderful!
That’s a goody!
So elegant!
Cold out today so I’m SL Arabie, a warm blanket. We are getting A FOOT OF SNOW starting late this afternoon, so that’ll be fun: we have groceries for the next few days and a gym in the building so we’re covered, I think.
Oh my goodness, a foot.
Woke up to a whooshing sound that turned out to be merely wind in the trees outside my window. It has mostly died down now, but waking that way made me want to be cozy, so I’m in my favorite hoodie and Memoirs of a Trespasser and drinking a latte. I suppose Memoirs kind of fits the CP in that a human is technically an animal, and one has to be a bit wild to trespass (or, probably, to write memoirs).
You smell nice!
Oh, thank you!
Help!!! I have one of my favorites FM Iris Poudre on today. After I did a few sprays it quit working. I have tried about everything and can’t get it to work. Luckily, I had a backup bottle. Any suggestions! TIA.
The sprayer, you mean? Try running the spray head under warm water, and maybe use a q-tip on the little hole. Sometimes they get gunky. If the problem is that the spray head won’t even push down, try the warm water and then twist the spray head back and forth a few times. Good luck!
I tried everything before except the q-tip. The q-tip is what made the difference. You are a genius! Thanks so much!
I’m so glad it helped!
Iris Poudre used to be a favorite of mine, but my nose got tired of it, as happens. You inspire me to dig out the travel spray I still have and try it again. Hope you get yours working!
I did thanks to Sheri’s suggestion. 😊
This is when BUBs are necessary. Thank goodness for SheriG, though!
So I need BUB for all of my perfumes? LOL 😆
For the CP, I’m going with Guerlain scents I have in bee bottles since I believe they *are* helping with bee conservation. I guess I should look into more. Today’s choice is Vol de Nuit edt, from 2017. Today, VdN is reminding me of Avon’s Bird of Paradise, and I will have to do a comparison later when I can find BoP. Shout out if you’ve seen the connection.
They certainly say they are helping with bee conservation, so I took points for Cologne du 68 too
Zoologist Bee for me today. It feels cozy. We fortunately didn’t get snow last night, at least at lower elevations, so the melt continues. Looks like my garden plants have survived, with the help of some strategically placed plastic bell covers.
I think I might wear Bee tomorrow. Great scent!
In the low-key VCA Bois d’Iris for a day at the office.
That’s always a good one.
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2023/feb/24/orchid-show-new-york-botanical-garden-black-market?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
There was an interesting about the New York Botanic Gardens orchid show and how the gardens also operate as an orchid rescue centre trying to rehabilitate orchids that have been caught up in the black market trade. The most vulnerable plants are those that are take illegally from the wild , threatening extinction. Great photos. Matching with Olympic Orchids Golden Cattleya, an almost empty bottle I have been ‘saving’.
Orchid hunters have had a long history of being destructive jerks. BTW for working on finishing a bottle
If you haven’t read it already, I highly recommend The Orchid Thief by Susan Orlean. I also loved the movie version (Adaptation), although general reviews were mixed.
Such a great book and movie!
Yay, another fan!
That’s fascinating! I’ve never heard of a black market for orchids before.
💜
I am wearing Vintage Miss Dior again, this is addictive.
At home , cooking, cleaning, in the afternoon hopefully reading, relaxing , sometimes i just want to stay home and do nothing.
You smell wonderful. I love all versions of it, new and vintage. Well, vintage is best…
Hope you’re reading and relaxing right now Hera
So windy here last night Biggie Smols was doing a dance. Very restless night, but thankfully no trees near by to worry about falling on us. We’re steps from the beach, so the wind coming off the water is nothing to sneeze at. Really not sure what’s in store for us today.
Found a little free book library here yesterday, so I gave two and got two. One is by Sharon Kay Penman, who I loved back when I was reading physical books. Her historical fiction is superb. Both she and Edith Pargeter wove magic around the history of Wales during the time of Llywelyn ap Gruffydd. Highly recommend both series if you a fan of medieval history. Penman also wrote a great series about Eleanor of Aquitaine. I was sad to find out she died in 2021 from pneumonia. They didn’t mention Covid, but I’m assuming that was the root cause. Really a spectacular writer and such a loss. I’m going to give the one I picked up a try, but my eyes and arms (I have to hold the book two inches from my nose to see it🤓) may not hold out. It’s hard cover about 750 pages, so pretty heavy.
Not feeling perfume today, but need a mental boost. Going for a happy scent and sprayed myself lavishly with ELDO Fils de Dieu.
House twins!
Little free libraries are so much fun. I miss them, there’s not one in my new neighborhood.
Maybe see if you could start one? I’ve talked to people who said once they had one in their area, more starting popping up in surrounding neighborhoods. It’s such a great way to give and get books, especially for people like me that don’t have space to keep physical books anymore.
I love little libraries too. The one around the corner from me does not seem to see much action in winter but changes frequently the rest of the year.
My Friday already! I’m wearing PG’s Indochine.
Yay, happy Friday Gaynor!
You smell like I hope heaven does.
Wearing Like This on this chilly morning, it’s really hitting the spot.
I’m working from home today, awaiting the delivery of my washing machine. I’m not good at waiting!
Sadly, our building is down a washing machine, and it looks like it’s going to be months…
Oh no, months?! I went to a laundromat for the first time in my life last week. I was actually quite impressed by how fast the machines were, and able to do so many loads at once.
What did you end up getting?
I went with an LG front load. It was a combo of what was recommended in Consumer Reports, what was on sale and available for quick delivery, and what would fit (no top load would be able to open fully with our shelves above the space).
That is what we have and love it!
Hope that the washing machine delivery goes smoothly!
It is here, and I’m testing my first load!
Eau des Merveilles today…I don’t wear this often, but I seem to be going through the bottle.
Cold and sunny here, woods are covered with snow and deer are plentiful.
Likely will need to get a steroid shot in my right thumb. I’ve developed trigger thumb there. The mouse isn’t helping, so I’m looking online at trackball ones that I can use with either hand. I’m not ambidextrous, but I’ve found I can navigate with my left on a trackball.
Oh dear, hope the shot helps LizzieB! That sounds painful.
Straight up, I didn’t realize this morning that it was Thursday until I logged to NST. Had a total panic, but made it to a meeting I would have missed! (Perfume AND time management–what a place
)
In Luxury, which smells lovely but I am not sure Luxury is a good name for it. It is like naming your kitchen cabinets “Opulence” or your child “Saint”! Maybe Zermatt instead? Or Hatshepsut?
NST for the save!
Who makes Luxury? Agree with you about the name. I just realized this one would be really hard to find by googling – luxury perfume? 🤣
You are right. I didn’t even think of that. Luxury is by Mizensir. To me it is a iris-centric scent; perfume-y iris, not rooty iris. Not too sweet, with some soap, powder and musk. For me it has enough “tang” in there for it not to go all department store make-up counter-y. It doesn’t give me a headache or a toothache!
That sounds like Iris perfection. 💜
So glad you did not miss your meeting!
I wonder if “Luxury” has a different ring in other languages?
Opulence for kitchen cabinets! 🤣
Lush perfume of the day is American Cream, which smells a lot less sweet now than I remember it being in the past. My decant is still holding up well after many years, but this perfume surprisingly reminds me of L’Heure Bleu or Esprit d’Oscar now. It’s got that doll’s head quality to it.
It is less sweet, isn’t it? I’m not crazy about the new American Cream.
You described it perfectly.
So interestingly, my decant is quite old. I’ve probably had it since 2011 or 2012. I should clarify that I remember it as smelling more sweet and haven’t worn it in a long time. Today when I sprayed it, it was a bit sweet immediately but then not really at all within a few minutes. Maybe the top notes have weakened as my juice has aged? I haven’t smelled the current formula.
I don’t remember what American Cream smelled like. It’s kind of hard to pick out individual fragrances inside a LUSH store.
Heh very fair point.
We’re house twins. My American Cream is creamy and sweet, but not overly so.
Maybe my nose is broken on picking up the sweetness. I did get a hint of it. Or it could be that it’s comparatively much less sweet than the other three Lush perfumes I wore this week.
It’s back to rain today after a break yesterday. I am so looking forward to sunshine on my vacation. SOTD is Theorema, I realized I haven’t worn it since 2021.
Vacation! Good for you!
2021😳
When are you going?
I’m just in the middle of watching Les Rois Maudits on YouTube, for anyone understanding French I can highly recommend it. There are two versions, the legendary first version has only two episodes present on youtube but it’s better than nothing, so gripping and the later version with Jeanne Moreau seems pretty good too.
In Les Parfums de Rosine Majalis today, and tonight it’s Insomnia a favorite chocolate/coffee and I usually don’t like coffee in perfumes.
Les Rois Maudits sounds interesting and I enjoy anything with Jeanne Moreau.
The two series are excellent if one understands French, it’s a fascinating period of French history, the XIVth century.
Oh, Robin, there is nothing cuter than the little red panda.
Isn’t he sweet??
I agree!
We have one at our zoo and it’s such a treat to see him, especially in the winter when the leaves are off the trees and I can see him on my walk in the park outside the zoo. Those ears are too much!
What an adorable critter! The times I have seen red pandas in a zoo, they have come across as sweet and shy.
My neighbor’s daffodils are in full bloom now. I had a bit of a shock when I noticed that earlier this afternoon. I’d seen sprouts a week or two ago but wasn’t expecting them to show up that quickly.
SOTD = LUSH Pansy Perfume. What I smelled of it I liked, but it disappeared on me in a couple of hours. That’s the closest I came to a clunker in that LUSH perfume travel set.
We are house twins! Mine didn’t last long either (5 sprays because commute) but while it lasted, it was delicious!
Hiya house twin!
Spring is coming early for you!🌷
Wow, ours have sprouted but not bloomed. We still have lots of snowdrops.
Wearing SL Borneo 1834 today for the cozy factor.
Cozy indeed!
SOTD = Lush Turmeric Latte
For cozy factor (see allo’s comment) and Lush is quite environment conscious.

Today is my FriYAY. It has been a long week but maybe I have been spoiled by having to use 3 more days before end of March.
Tomorrow I get a much needed haircut. I keep thinking that it has only been 6 weeks since my last cut but my hair grows really fast. I want this to last for 7-8 weeks so by the time I need my next haircut, it will be just right and in time for it to grow some for my cruise (Historic coasts Boston to Boston) towards the end of May. I am still not comfortable flying yet so this will be a train ride to Boston and back.
Your Owl of the Day matches your SOTD perfectly!
Your hair really does grow fast!
It feels like you just got a cut ( in NST time)
Happy Friday!
Sounds like a great cruise! I always choose the train to visit NYC if I can. So much more civilized than other modes of transportation.
I just got done reading the comments and thought I would confess… all day I thought the picture was a fox. Lol🤣
Ha! For sure, foxes are not endangered in any way (in my neighborhood, at least).
