Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating today!
Whether you’re celebrating or not, feel free to talk about anything you like: what fragrance you’re wearing today, what perfume you're especially thankful for, what you’re going to cook or eat today...whatever you like, so long as it doesn’t conflict with our comment policy.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! I hope you all have a blessed and enjoyable day!
I want to thank you for all your sympathy messages regarding the passing of my beloved doggy Yei. I have read them several times and they are very soothing and comforting to my soul. This supporting community is another great reason to be thankful for on this special day! You are all generous and amazing people.
Our Thanksgiving dinner with my sisters and their families will be very simple and quiet. Full of mixed feelings this year, but we have a lot to be thankful for, especially for my mother and Yei. God knows what we are and will be going thru soon, but we are always thankful for the bad and good. God is with us.
I will be commando today. I am not sure when I will be in the mood to wear any scents again. Hopefully, soon. In the meantime I am burning incense and scented candles. They have always given me a sense of peace and comfort.
Happy Thursday! 🌻
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have a lovely day with your family. I’m glad you are enjoying some insence and candles. Sending you and your family hugs today.
Thank you, Gail. Hugs back to you!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
I am glad to see you posting. ❤️
Thank you, Lillyjo! Have a great day!
Hi, glad to see you. Best wishes of peace and love.
Thank you, Ringthing. Hugs!
Sending you warm thoughts and hugs as you enjoy the company of your mother and family. Yei is surely there in spirit as well. Every day together is a gift.
Thank you, Cazaubon. We are missing Yei greatly and I am sure he will be today with us, especially at the dinner table.
Happy Thanksgiving, pfl67. May you and you our family celebrate all that is good and help you deal with what is to come.
Thank you, Hajusuuri.
Have a lovely family gathering!
Hi Pl67,
I have not been posting for a bit. I’m so sorry to hear about your Yei.
Of course his gentle spirt is with you today.
As all of those loved ones in all forms are with us.
I think that even though we cannot see them, they are there.
Have a good day.
Thank you for your touching words, Apsara. I agree with you that the spirits of our departed loved ones, including our furry kids are with us all the time, especially on special occasions.
Enjoy the beach celebration with your friends today!
Incense and candles are a great alternative until you are ready.
They are! Have a great Thursday, Aurora!
Happy Thanksgiving. I hope your gathering is full of love, and that you have a chance to think about the blessings in life. I’m sorry everything is so turbulent for you right now.
Thank you, Sistine. Have a peaceful and relaxing day. We have so many things to be thankful for!
I was very sorry to read about Yei.
Thank you, Gaynor.
Happy Thanksgiving, PL67! 🦃 Big hugs as you continue to process your grief.
Thank you She-ra.
Enjoy the day!
I am so sorry to hear about Yei. Sending you a huge hug and wishing you peace and contentment this holiday.
Thank you, Okland Fresca.
Have a great time with your friends today!
Have a quiet and peaceful Thanksgiving with your loved ones, past and present, PL67. Hugs!
Thank you, Jalapeno.
Have a peaceful day today too. I hope you can celebrate with your friends tomorrow!
Thinking of you and Yei today. Hugs to you. Blessings to your family.
Thank you, Kris.
Have a nice and blessed day!
I’m just getting caught up on the week’s post now and want to send my deepest condolences on your loss of Yei. May you find peace and comfort in knowing you gave your beloved doggy a wonderful life filled with ❤️. Sending big 🤗🤗🤗 to you.
Thank you, Laila. 🌻
🍂THANKSGIVING FREEBIES
“I would like to thanks CobraRose for the generous full bottle of Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady that she sent me as a freebie during the last swap/freebiemeet. (I was always hoarding my sample). This is one of my favorite scents and I would love to share some of it with you”
I will make (2)-5ml decants of Portrait of a Lady. Please, place dibs here and email me at monica67 in the land of aol.
Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁🍂
Oooh. Dibs please.
A decant is yours! Please, send me your info.
Done! Thanks!
One decant left for grabs.
Well you know I can’t resist… dibs! Lol
Lol! It is yours!
Oh, dibs please! I will email you this evening ❤️
Oh darn, thank you anyway!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I was in the mood for licorice candy but not to eat, so I’m in Lolita Lempicka. It’s charming — I can’t think of a better word to describe it.
You smell wonderful.
Charming is a good word for it.
Such a great name for a perfume too.
Hmmm… wish I would be in the mood for my favorite candies “but not to eat.” You are clearly more evolved than me!
Have a wonderful holiday.
I’m wearing TF Amber Absolute, it’s nice and chilly this morning, perfect for this incensey resinous amber.
Smellin’ mighty fine!
Thank you!
I need to sniff that one. It sounds lovely.
It’s actually not as monstrous as I remembered. I sprayed parsimoniously because I thought it was very potent but in fact it’s just perfect, could have sprayed more.
Happy Thanksgiving, cazaubon! Very windy by my house today!!! Seriously the biggest gusts I can remember…🤔
Not windy here in Ocean Beach, just a bit of a breeze, how weird!
Sending you very best Thanksgiving wishes Cazaubon!! XXOO
Thanks and same back to you!
Was that TF discontinued?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi everyone! The cajun chef in my house is making shrimp and grits for us this afternoon 😊 I’ll take that over turkey any day.
Wearing vintage Chanel No. 5 and thoroughly enjoying it. Might switch to Coco this evening.
Enjoy your day, however you spend it.
One of my favorite dishes! Enjoy.
Yum….yay for your shrimp and grits today! 🙂
Love your Coco and love your holiday feast. I am pretty sure I have never had shrimp with grits. It sounds perfect.
Oh, that sounds so delicious!
Oh nice call!
Happy Thanksgiving to all that celebrate. I am so thankful for everyone on here. It always brightens my day!
I am donned in all things purple to get ready to watch my Minnesota Vikings tonight. Purple leggings, lilac sweatshirt and iris perfume. FM Iris Poudre is perfect for the day.
They have to win now!
We can only hope🤞
Best Thanksgiving wishes to you in all your purpleness!
Thanks!
Your outfit and perfume sound perfect, good luck!
Thanks!
GO Purple! Hope that your team wins.
Thanks Jalapeño!
I’m wearing Coeur de Vetiver Sacre, since it was on my nightstand and handy.
A good a reason as any for a perfume. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving PriscillaE!
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you all have a good one~
I am spending today on my own as family too far away, and this year I had decided to not crash a friends’ family dinner lest it reminds me of what I cannot have. Instead, I am cat-sitting for some friends. I have good books and lots of perfume samples to go through, am surprised to find myself actually looking forward to the day!
I’ve realized that the funny thing about naturals is that it changes dramatically from day to day. I was sampling Malay Perfumery’s Fleur de Rampai again last night (see my initial impressions here https://nstperfume.com/2022/11/22/tuesday-scent-of-the-day-11-22/#comments) and detected a more honeyed note. The pandan is more diffusive this time as well. It has that watery (but not aquatic) quality of leaves steeped in water, like a pandan and jasmine tea. The patchouli is quiet, just the way I like it. I am starting to enjoy it more and more. The perfumer mentioned that she uses a large amount of naturals, evidenced by the dark, cloudy juice and has recommended that I let it sit for a couple of weeks before trying it again as it has just come off from a long journey to me.
Oh also! Interesting Reddit thread on culture-specifc smells! https://www.reddit.com/r/Cooking/comments/z2jxq4/please_help_my_partner_is_constantly_complaining/
“He says it happens whenever we cook with meat or eggs and the plates, bowls, and glasses aren’t washed properly afterward. Half the time he has to put the dishwasher on twice. He’s Arabic, and the closest translation he can find is “rancid”. To me, rancid is the smell of rotten meat, which I can definitely smell, but he says it’s not that. I thought he was imagining it.
Then we had some friends over and we put aside a glass that he said smelled rancid. The weirdest thing happened. His Arabic friends all said they could smell it. But my friends (Western, like me) could not.
Not sure if this is the right place to post this but anyway I would really appreciate if anyone could offer an explanation.”
More evidence that having the language for smells helps you differentiate it!
I have no explanation, but find it fascinating. I have a thing with soap that I can taste it when my husband cannot. It happens when a dish hasn’t been rinsed well enough, or even when he’s washed potatoes and I can tell whatever he used to scrub them may have been laundered beforehand. But culture specific? I will enjoy seeing what others say.
I hope you have a peaceful and contented day!
Thank you! Hope you had a good day too.
Soap is not something I am particularly sensitive to, especially if its my regular one, but I can definitely detect it when its a brand I am not familiar with, especially in cups!
Re: potatoes, do you taste the soap in the finished dish?? I’m so curious!
I do!
I’m guessing they are very sensitive to certain smells. For example, I loathe fish and can smell it on the dishes, in the oven and on every kitchen surface even after scrubbing and bleaching everything. No one else can smell it but me.
I am the same way with fish.
It seems like we are cursed/blessed with sensitive noses!
Fish is fine with me but I cannot stand the rank smell of cloth/laundry that isn’t dried properly. If a surface has been wiped down with said cloth, I can smell it and it drives me crazy. Same with laundry that wasn’t dried properly. My aunt is the same, we are particular sensitive to this smell when nobody else is bothered by it.
I don’t think there is a specific word for it in English (some people say musty, but it’s not quite right), but there is one in my second language.
Oh I know that smell and I hate it. I have thrown things out just to get rid of it. It’s like damp mop smell.
That’s a new one to me. Hmmmmmm. I know I have tasted bleach on water glasses in restaurants before.
Happy Thanksgiving, pfsh, & hope you enjoyed your alone time!
(Wow, that reddit thread is fascinating. I am too tired now but will finish it tomorrow. I used to hate the smell of our glassware, though, with our older dishwasher, especially if we’d washed anything with egg, but when we got a newer / better dishwasher that stopped — we do zero rinsing now and there is no smell that I can notice after.)
Haven’t decided on a scent yet to wear when we head over to friends’ for Thanksgiving dinner.
Question/poll: given the amount of smells related to Thanksgiving dinner – do you go gourmand in scents to complement and enhance the foodiness aspect of the day or do you tend to offset it via florals or green or some other notes?
I’m considering Burberry Brit Rhythmn because I read somewhere that lavender is good for the day…
I usually gravitate toward light scents that blend with food, but aren’t actually foody themselves. For instance, to my mind Chanel Paris-Deauville, with its light basil note, is a good candidate for Thanksgiving. Lavender would work well too!
I’ve done both. One year I wore Like This for Thanksgiving, and it was a great fit. But palate cleanser perfumes are nice too.
I just try to spritz early enough in the day that by the time the meal is served, my perfume is just a quiet purr in the background.
I am wearing the dregs of a Shalimar Philtre decant currently but will up the ante w/ Shalimar Tonka later today. 😉 I love gourmands but can see why one might choose a floral or citrus to contrast w/ Thanksgiving foods.
I like lavender. Didn’t manage it yet this year, but I like to put out lavender bouquets when guests come for holiday celebrations. Enjoy whatever perfume you decide on!
I go for spice/sweet.
If there are a lot of people around then I go with something fairly light. This year I went with FM Iris Poudre for my purple theme. (See above.)
Sandalwood or a light incense would be my pick.
I ended up wearing Chamade. Green just appealed.
I am having mussels in white wine sauce today as I’m not a big Thanksgiving food fan, and today is the day that I decorate for Christmas. I’ll be putting the wreath on the front door and putting the outdoor decorations up. I might light a fir candle, too. SOTD is Norne, so there will be lots of piney goodness in the house.
Yum!
Yum, I love mussels too! What a good alternative Thanksgiving meal.
Someone I used to love adored Slumberhouse Norne, I am always reminded of them when I hear about it 🙂 They only had a sample that got lost, and full bottles were nowhere to be found since it got discontinued. I have never smelled it myself, but would love to one day.
Oh, that sounds like a good way to spend the day. I can’t eat mussels myself, but know many people who love them. I like the idea of all the pine and fir scents. I love to have a live Christmas tree, and saw them on Tuesday when I went to Kroger’s, but I’m going to wait a bit before buying mine. I do like traditional Thanksgiving foods so I like to have a breather between the two holidays.
Btw, I am truly enjoying the MDCI La Ravissante that I bought at Fumerie, but also wishing I could have bought the other one, Nuit Andalouse. I”ve already ordered a sample of it from Luckyscent!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying your purchase. Scented souvenirs are the best.
Nuit Andalouse is wonderful! I need to smell La Ravissante.
Haven’t had mussels in years but remember liking them a lot. I was told by the CNO (when I interviewed for my next contract on the coast) that it’ll be razor clam season while I’m there, so I will have to look them up and get some simple van friendly recipes. Enjoy your quiet time. What brand of candle? I’m in the market for a mini balsam/pine/fir type of candle for the van for the season. 🕯
Thymes’ Frasier Fir candles are always a good bet for pine/fir ambiance, and they put that scent into many, many different items and sizes. I have a three-wick that’s over 15 years old and has lost much of its potency, but the glass jar it’s in is so pretty that I keep it on display anyway.
The Thymes Frasier 3-wick is the one I have. It’s about five years old and still going strong. I think I originally read about it here on NST, I am not a follower of candle brands/smells.
Thank you! I found a smallish travel size with a lid on Amazon and it’s now in my cart. 😀
Well you will smell delish!
When I was younger and we traveled to France for holidays there was a restaurant called The Crazy Mussels in Paris. Nothing could keep us away. In white wine, Dijon……..mmmmmmmm
I love mussels! Enjoy your feast.
When I was walking the dog this morning I noticed that about half of the houses in our neighborhood have set up their indoor Christmas trees. They must have done it yesterday, since the trees weren’t there yesterday morning. It surprised me.
Yay for seafood in wine and pine! You and your house smell good. 🙂
Sending you best wishes amidst your piney goodness!
YUM for those mussels!
I’m in TF Noir Pour Femme this morning, but will switch to something else later on. We’re having the big food-centric celebration tomorrow, to accommodate other family members’ various obligations, and today is very full of World Cup soccer — Mr. G is the soccer fan AND the household chef — so something had to give anyway. 😆 My back is recuperating from a lot of lifting and bending yesterday (amazing how much of that is involved with having one’s windows professionally cleaned), so I will be sitting quietly in between doing a couple of restorative pilates mini-sessions.
I hope you have a peaceful and restorative day!
Relax and enjoy!
You smell awesome!
Same situation here – meal tomorrow, all world cup all the time.
CP-compliant with a cheap thrill — Eau de Gaga, which I bought blind on a recommendation here for $19.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S.! If I’d have forgotten, the Black Friday onslaught in my inbox this morning would have reminded me. I’ll be doing some prep cooking for our day-late Thanksgiving dinner here, in and around work — Ockeghem Teen insists on her second chance in the year for having stuffing.
Oooh, tell us about your stuffing! Ours will be a mystery because my aunt is making it…
It’s a sage & sausage stuffing from Seriouseats. It’s your classing stuffing, but I love it for that.
The best stuffing I ever had was at a friend’s house long ago who was French Canadian. She made it with chestnuts and sausage. It was so amazingly good. I tend to like to put apple into my stuffings (if I make any) because the sweetness counteracts all the salty stuff that day.
Also — is the mysterious cooking a good or bad thing? A lot depends on the cook with that. 😀
Yes, we’ll be eager to hear the results!
Ockeghem Teen seems to have her priorities straight!
Enjoy the stuffing!
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate!!!

I did a 2 mile round trip walk to and from Wegmans where I got the desserts my sister asked me to get on her behalf. In case I forget, I actually have them in the car already, along with the wine since there is zero chance of it freezing. The only thing left is to also bring the pumpkin pie but if I happen to forget, I will pumpkin pie into next week.
As I may have mentioned, I am going to an aunt’s place nearby. It is always a mystery what she’ll serve and so I am loading up and not get too hungry.
Happy Thanksgiving!! That 2 mile walk is a great way to get your appetite going XD
I hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving at your aunt’s.
We used to go to my aunt’s house for Thanksgiving and her idea of gravy was warming water and cut mushrooms in a sauce pan. One year, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I brought a roux with me (a jar of flour and water) and when she wasn’t looking, I stirred it into the watery mushroom concoction. It didn’t win any gravy competitions but at least the consistency was recognizable🤣
What a funny story! A good gravy can be such a wonderful complement to the other traditional Thanksgiving ingredients. We went to my great-aunt’s and she excelled at both the turkey (never too dry) and gravy. At my other family’s house, they had giblet gravy, which I never liked. But one thing my dad’s family had that I loved was after-Thanksgiving turkey sandwiches with nice slabs of turkey topped with a very mild sweet Bermuda onion, and lots of mayo. Mmmm.
That sandwich sounds delicious!
Please let us know what she chooses to serve!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Report back on what was served!
Happy Thanksgiving, hajusuuri!!!🦃
Best wishes to you this holiday!
Ack! Good luck with the mystery eats at your Aunt’s! Hopefully there isn’t any mystery meat on the menu today.
You smell wonderful! I bought a huge Costco pumpkin pie to take to my SIL’s house tomorrow, but already ate 1/4 of it. My husband is embarrassed to bring 3/4 of a pie but I’m not. :-). Anyway, only two of us eat it so who cares? All the more for me. 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Going to my aunt and uncle’s house for Thanksgiving. I am responsible for mashed potatoes and a couple dozen cookies. Wearing Theorema for the occasion.
You smell wonderful! Theorema is a perfect Thanksgiving fragrance.
Happy Thanksgiving, Dawn!
Perfect perfume pairing for the day!
Happy Thanksgiving Dawn!
We are scent twins today 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
I’m in Blackbird Y06-S with its crazy banana, jasmine and milk accord. It’s my latest jasmine love on what has been a very happy jasmine jag.
I am very grateful for NST and for having found this wonderful community. You teach and inspire me – what a gift!
Happy Thanksgiving, allo!
I agree….I have learned so much from NSTers yet I still crave more fragrance knowledge!😅
Me too – I have so much to learn!
Hope you have a lovely holiday allo!
Thank you, Oakland Fresca! I hope you have a lovely holiday too.
Happy Thanksgiving!
You too! And I’m with you on going to bed early – it’s only 8pm here and I’m ready to rest.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The Happiest of Thanksgivings to you too, Jalapeno!
Happy Thanksgiving, allo! Your fragrance sounds very fun!
Thank you Gail! I hope you had a wonderful day too. And yes, this is a unusual fragrance, but totally captivating.
Daughter and I did a 5K this morning. I was surprised I was able to run most of it. It seems a good year to do a run since I am off work and it will just be my husband, daughter and I. Our family gathering traditions fell apart with COVID and then my mother in law’s death but we will grill some steaks and relax. Daughter just got a job after a long, frustrating unemployed period so I am chilling a bottle of champagne that has been sitting in the pantry for 2 years.
Wearing Chanel No 5 body lotion.
Happy and safe holidays to everyone.
Congratulations on the 5K and your daughter’s new job!!!
A 5k- that’s awesome! Congrats to your daughter.
Yay for your daughter’s job, champagne and chilling! 🙂
Lots to celebrate today. Sounds like things have been tough with the passing of your MIL. I hope your day is filled with joy.
Congrats to your daughter, that’s wonderful!
I’d have steak for every holiday if my husband would cooperate.
Happy Thanksgiving to all the US peeps here! We scored a lovely day with full on sunshine, blue skies, and no wind! It’s like a hat trick and I couldn’t ask for better weather. 😀
I’m in Bois D’Arménie from a sample kindly included with my split-meet purchases. Lovely stuff! Hope everyone is wearing one of their favorites and is able to spend time with family and/or friends.
The bestie and I will take a long walk and soak up some sunshine. I’m pretty sure doggo would love a big get together because she is such a social butterfly. If the gathering could include screaming, rambunctious kids hyped up on sugar, she’d be in heaven because kid noise equals “party in the house!”
If your only company is feline or canine, give them extra love, belly rubs, and maybe a scrap or two of people food. They give you unlimited love 24/7, so that’s something to be very thankful for!
Thinking of you Deva.
Thank you, I’ve been missing you here! Hoping all is well with you and yours. ❤️
thank you.
I hope you two have an amazing day.
Thank you, and right back at you, Sistine! ✌🏼
Deva, Happy and relaxing day to you and T-Rex!
Thank you! We are sending extra warm puppy hugs to you and your family, and thinking of your Baby Yei. What a special person he had! ❤️
Thank you! 🌻
Enjoy the sunshine!🌞 I was late to comment yesterday, but happy you got the contract you were hoping for.
Happy Thanksgiving, Deva!!! I will give our two recalcitrant cats, Hans and Greta, extra kisses today too. 🙂
Have a wonderful holiday Deva!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Jealous of your weather!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and T-Rex from me, Spooky, and Teflon the Wonder Cat!
Have been absent for a bit. Much work, long days.
After 12 hours sleep and no alarm clocks for four days am curled up on sofa with coffee and email.
I have been wearing Henry Rose Dark is Night because I had. Gift card from Nordstrom and thought why not?
It’s wonderful!
Going over to Hermosa beach later to friends who have added a deck and firepit to their home for a perfect California thanksgiving.
And I am responsible for nothing!
Wishing all fragrant friends who mark this day a good one.
It’s nice to see you again and I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends in what sounds like an idyllic place🌸
I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends. It sounds delightful.
smores over an open fire? yep!
Great to see you here and hope you have a lovely evening. Isn’t 12 hours of sleep the absolute 💣!!😀
Yay for your sleep and Thanksgiving w/ a deck! That is a perfect CA holiday.
Back at ya Apsara! I’m a wee bit north of you on this beautiful day.
Nice to have you back!
No alarm clocks for 4 days is a wonderful thing!
That sounds like a fun Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m wearing Annick Goutal’s Heure Exquise for the first time in ages. I’m wearing a cream cotton dress with a print of big blue irises, and I tend to reach for Hiris, but I thought more deeply today 🙂
Yay for deep thinking 😉 You smell wonderful!
Happy Thanksgiving if you are celebrating! I’m super thankful for everyone who posts here for creating such a safe and respectful (and fragrant!) space.
Went to a “gratitude flow” yoga class this morning and am settling in for a very quiet day. I’m in Dame’s Earth Mother for two reasons. 1) It smells fabulous. 2) I am really grateful to our planet.
Have a happy day.
Sounds like a nice day. You smell great!
I hope your low key, quiet day replenishes you! “Gratitude Flow” yoga sounds amazing 🤩
Happy Thanksgiving, sistine!!!🦃
I’m in like Flynn for gratitude flow!
Happy Thanksgiving!
You smell wonderful! Hope that your quiet day grounds and refreshes you.
Happy Thanksgiving American friends. It’s an ordinary day here where the only sign is the Black Friday onslaught which I am pretty much ignoring. I am making my smoothie later, it will be like a nightcap.
I picked Dior Homme Intense which I enjoyed but tonight I am in Molinard Nirmala.
I’m overwhelmed with the black Friday advertisements. It’s alot to sort through to find what you might be looking for.
And the emails! Good lord.
And I’m not finding the sales to be that great..?! Which is probably a good thing for my bank account! I did see the Merit had 20% off via their website. I thought of you because you mentioned you gifted your daughter one of their lipsticks…
I ended up getting her the 3pc lip and cheek tint set when sephora had their sale. Still pricey but it seems like a quality product.
Oh, she’ll love it! 🤩
I’m with you, it pretty much erases the entertainment value of shopping.
I’m amazed by the emails from every company I’ve ever done business with, sometimes years ago, that pop up out of the woodwork.
Happy ordinary day to you!
😃
The Black Friday emails started a couple of weeks ago for me and were annoying then.
Happy Thanksgiving!
We already finished dinner here because I like to eat early. I have to be to work at 7am tomorrow and want to get to sleep early tonight. I am heading to my sister’s for a short visit and am wearing YSL Paris. My sister’s house is not friendly to perfume so I sprayed very lightly.
My ham turned out ok and this year I plan on turning the leftovers into split pea soup. Does anyone have a super easy recipe?
Yum, sounds good. I haven’t had homemade split pea soup in forever. I’m no help on a recipe.
I hope you have a nice time at your sisters.
Thanks! I’ve never made it but figured I would give it a try.
So glad your weather is good and you can travel there easily.
No sun, but it was 47 degrees. A lot of the snow is melted now.
Happy Thanksgiving, lillyjo! 🦃
Happy Thanksgiving!
Yum! Split pea soup. I bet they’ll love your ham. Hope you have a great holiday lillyjo.
Thanks OF!
The Serious Eats website might have a good recipe for your soup.
They have a good recipe for everything. We’ve been doing their spatchcocked turkey for years, and for Christmas we usually do their prime rib.
I will check it out. Thanks!
I love that scent, YSL Paris. I keep looking at it on the discount sites and am almost ready to buy a bottle.
The ysl website is having a 30% off sale right now.
You smell lovely! Hope work goes well tomorrow.
Thanks. I’m lucky to get the early shift.
Seriouseats is always good. Smitten Kitchen (usually a touch less fancy) also has one: https://smittenkitchen.com/2018/01/split-pea-soup/.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I have my precooked sliced turkey heating up in the crockpot, a pumpkin pie in the oven and football on tv. The mood is pretty relaxed around here.
I’m in 31 RC from a sample. Liking it more each time I wear it. I’m not even really sure what the notes are in this one. Those of you that wear it…how would you describe it? To me it smells like Chanel, and I am a fan of that house.
We didn’t watch the macys parade on tv but apparently twitter is all abuzz roasting Paula Abdul’s performance, which makes me sad. I watched a clip on YouTube and I really didn’t see what all the fuss was about. I think twitter is for Mean Girls.
I hope twitter completely implodes. It just gives 🍑 🎩 license to be awful. 🤞🏼
Agreed.
I agree completely. It is a parade! She danced. She’s sixty and looks amazing and entertained millions. What on earth are people fussing about? There are wars and poverty and governments who lock people up for what they say or who they love and steadily increasing levels of carbon emissions not seen since A. anamensis hominin morphed into existence. And you are mad about a tap dance? Sigh. Gonna go hug my kid now.
Amen! You summed up my thoughts exactly.
Enjoy your kid hug☺️, and Happy Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving, MTG!🦃
31 RC definitely smells distinct and all Chanel to my nose. It’s beautiful but somehow not me. I had the EDT and sold it.
Happy Thanksgiving She-ra!
I gave mine away, it wasn’t me either, although I thought it smelled very nice.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I am not on Twitter. I get the feeling that it gives people what my grandmother would call a ” big head” lol
31RC is the fanciest of Chanel in my opinion.
Thanks lillyjo!
Ha, yes, my grandmother would have said they were “too big for their britches”
I’m not on twitter (or Facebook) either and this is exactly why. Don’t need the drama or the meanness.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, madtowngirl! Enjoy!
Thanks Jalapeño! You too! I love that you had pumpkin pancakes with maple syrup. Sounds delish!😋
I love 31 RC. I would say it is a woody floral and it is beautiful. I don’t wear it much because I never want an empty bottle. Enjoy!
With you on woody floral. It’s my go-to “professional” perfume when I want to smell beautiful but not overwhelm people. I agree too that it’s very Chanel.
Woody floral, yes that’s a great description, thanks. I know you are a fan of this one, I see why, it’s beautiful!
Happy Thanksgiving, NST! 🦃🍨
Going to an aunt and uncle’s house today that is much larger and cleaner than mine. 😁 We are bringing pumpkin pies that Mr. She-ra made this morning. Wearing the remnants of Shalimar Philtre and going to advance to Shalimar Tonka later today.
I think Shalimar Tonka might be my Shalimar gateway drug ehaehaeh 🤣 it’s gotten me curious about other versions/flankers in a way MVP did not…not sure why. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear maybe. 😉
Very grateful for so many things but especially this fragrant community of kind perfume enthusiasts!!! 🥰
Happy Thanksgiving!
When the student is ready, the teacher will appear maybe. Maybe!
Happy Thanksgiving She-Ra!
Best to have a smaller dirtier house…we never have to host the really big gatherings 🙂
Your husband made pie? I am in awe. Happy thanksgiving!
Taking a break from cooking. I’m on cornbread (with feta and cherry tomatoes) appetizer, apple and chestnut stuffing/dressing, and cranberry sauce duty. My husband’s roasting the turkey, which he brined yesterday, and making mushroom soup, and Brussels sprouts. The house smells amazing–loads and loads of fresh sage and thyme in everything. Friends will be coming around in a couple of hours. We’re moving the meal outside on the deck as one of the guests was sitting shiva all week with a dear friend, who on top of her enormous loss just came down with COVID this morning. It is not a problem in the least—in fact I am delighted with the excuse to eat al fresco. It is warm enough at the moment, and we have heaters we can set out as the sun sets.
I applied Bigarade 18 Hong Kong this morning, a Royalty Scent decant. It is gone now– so thinking through my next perfume move.
Happy Thanksgiving y’all!
The food sounds wonderful, and how nice you can all eat outdoors.
Yum, enjoy your feast, eating outside is always fun.
Oh, condolences to the poor person who got covid, that’s a shame.
Hope your al fresco Thanksgiving was perfect!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Oh dear, that poor person, grieving and now sick too! It is quite warm here in San Diego, hopefully similar where you are. Your feast sounds delicious!
I made pumpkin pancakes for Thanksgiving dinner and used a fancy infused maple syrup I picked up in Vermont last year. Mr. Jalapeno texted pictures from his celebration on a beach in Florida.
And my Friendsgiving might be back on! Not gonna count the turkey dinner before it happens, but I will give you all an update later on.
SOTD = Heeley Eau Sacree, from the sample stash.
Pumpkin pancakes sound really good. Hope you can have your Friendsgiving.
How nice to pull out the fancy syrup! No better time. Happy Thanksgiving, Jalapeno.
I hope your get-together is back on tomorrow.
Good luck for tomorrow!
Your pancakes sound delicious!
I hope tomorrow works out well for you!
You smell great and I love the idea of pumpkin pancakes with maple syrup!
Hello everyone, I’m also very grateful for NST and the kind friendly atmosphere here. People have been so supportive of me when I complained about my joint pains and surgeries and so on.
I just made apple crisp (two Granny Smiths and two Honeycrisps) which, along with a bottle of Prosecco, will be my contribution to dinner at a friend’s tonight. (Plus some vanilla bean ice cream.) I do like cooking something, but am glad not to be on primary kitchen duty today. It has been extremely dark and dreary here with pouring rain, thunder, and lightning, but seems to be clearing up now, just as the weatherman promised. It’s also warm, low 70’s!
I’m wearing La Ravissante, the new MDCI scent I bought when I visited Fumerie in Portland last Friday. (And met up with foxbins there.) It is a great place. We have some nice perfume places here in Houston, but it’s organized differently, pretty small with a high counter and the fragrances arranged on many shelves on the wall behind it, according to note, not brand. You can ask for most anything and the nice gentleman there (Mike?), who is really knowledgeable, gets out the bottle and sprays a test strip for you. If you like, you can spray some on. We got something of a small crowd there (friends from a panel at my conference) and had a really fun experience, some people looking by notes, others by brand, many people sniffing one another in friendly ways, and of course all of us egging each other on–“It’s great, you must buy it!” Ha ha, I love that part: active in-person enabling! I really wanted to try some of the MDCI line and was torn between La Ravissante and Nuit Andalouse. I bought the former. My friend there said it’s too sweet for her. Oddly, I didn’t find it sweet at all since it’s got juicy things like orange, pomegranate, and that odd kind of lime. Now though I can smell the sweet, which involves florals. It is amazingly long-lasting, almost 24 hours!–but does not seem to have high projection, at least I hope not since my friend who is hosting tonight doesn’t like perfumes. I know I smell fabulous, and that’s what counts. A perfume with pomegranate, now that is something to treasure. I was sorely tempted by the Andalouse too, but these are pretty pricey, and I was afraid it would be too similar to my beloved (even more expensive) McQueen perfume: both go really deep into heavy white floral territory. But the notes are different, and Andalouse also has ylang-ylang, which I love, so I may still need a bottle of that too. I have a sample coming, so we’ll see.
Enjoy your day, everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving Calypso!
I love Nuit Andalouse, you’ve inspired me to try La Ravissante.
I just love the name La Ravissante!
Happy Thanksgiving! We had a huge dinner this evening with just the five of us (our usual Thanksgiving attendance). I tried two new recipes from the NY Times and both were delicious: mayo-roasted turkey, and Eric Kim’s stuffing. Plus gravy, mashed potatoes, roast Brussels sprouts, and roast cubes of sweet potatoes. Whew, we’re all stuffed!
I’m pretty much over this week’s bout of COVID but still testing positive, so I sat at one end of our dining room table while my family sat at the other end, lol. I still did most of the cooking, but in a mask. And everyone helped! No scent for me today, but tomorrow I’ll probably wear Anne Klein II or Adam Levine for Her as a cheap thrill.
Wearing Amouage Material for an afternoon of Christmas tree hunting with a friend.
